Fun Fact: Jennifer Hale, the voice of Thorn, Jane Wiedlin, the voice of Dusk, and Kimberly Brooks, the voice of Luna, have voiced the Hex Girls in each of their appearances throughout the franchise since their debut.
Awesome
Additional fun fact, Jennifer Hale voices Kyoshi is AtLA and LoK and Kimberly Brooks voices Jasper in Steven Universe!
Just to answer your questions, wicca is very much a neo pagan religion essentially. There are beliefs among individuals based on what practices, some do have a family thing where they pass down stuff to their kids, but its not really a blood thing. Its a belief system.
So can it skip generations? Because as far as I know, neither of Thorn's parents were Wiccan.
@@PoppyIsMyMetalQueen well being this was a cartoon for kids, its just for story. I was trying to say it has no real basis in reality and goes off of fantasy witchcraft logic that its a blood thing. So I have no clue for what theyre going for in the show cuz...its not even equal to what it really is.
Reminds me of a line in the first Pirates that always makes me laugh. When Will’s like “They need my father’s blood; my blood; the blood of a pirate” 😂
Like, I don’t think piracy is a genetic trait. Kinda like how practicing Wicca isn’t either.
And it’s neo-pagan, so it’s not even particularly associated with any one ethnic group.
@@JesusOfPaign exactly lmao i forgot about the pirate thing, that made my day
@@JesusOfPaigntbf they didn’t actually need the blood of a pirate. They needed the blood of every person who touched the cursed gold. For the entire movie up to that point Will had been in denial over who his father really was. So his line ‘the blood of pirate’ was pretty much just him accepting reality. It wasn’t meant to imply that piracy is hereditary, it’s just Will coming to terms with his dad being a prick.
"Is being wiccan a choice?" is the funniest possible phrase you could have googled
😂
This quadrilogy (Cyber Chase & Alien Invaders being the other two) did so much more for the series than any of the following movies and shows, fleshing out the cast without breaking their characters, but letting them deal with supernatural threats seriously while keeping it an amusing mystery.
@@whendarknessfalls6969 In what sense, or are you being generalistic?
I had no idea you even did Zombie Island! Legitimately one of my favorite animated movies. But this and Alien Invaders are terrific too. I really love how the 90s Scooby Doo movies served as a travelogue of sorts for the kids who watched. Really explored the diverse terrain and weather the U.S. experiences.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure Zombie Island was my first exposure to like, anything that has to do with Louisiana. And this one was one of the first New England-specific things I ever saw.
I was obsessed with The Hex Girls as a kid and one day on Sunday school I wrote the lyrics to the song on a chalkboard and got told by my pastor that I was singing the devil’s song lmao.
41:28 "i like how they are just letting it happen."
Well yea, Ben literally tried to kill the mystery gang, so yea, he freaking deserves it. Still, i love that Tim Curry voiced him, he really nailed it when he had to sound so sinister and evil in the third act 😳
Like how Courage is just fine with Eustace being the vessel to contain the latest evil in Nowhere and gets taken away sometimes while Courage and Muriel are the sole survivors.
On the other hand, if he had survived, the apology would have been royalties from characters based off them written into one of his subsequent books. Plus it would have been really funny seeing him try to sheepishly talk his way out of the aftermath amid questions like 'Why were you perched on that thing like a freaking gargoyle' xD
This movie aired a lot on Cartoon Network back in the day, usually on Halloween, and it was awesome 😊
Yes. Billy Ray Cyrus did the theme this time. Thorn is Jennifer Hale, Luna is Kimberly Brooks, and Dusk is Jane Wiedlin from the Go Gos
never would they have guessed how popular the Hex Girls would become throughout the years when the band was created 🔥
Funny thing about them playing instruments is the Mystery Machine was owned by family band known as the Mystery Kids, later sold to Fred Jones.
Its also a theory that first few episodes of the original Scooby Doo that the gang was actually a band themselves.
They've hung around music types and shown skill in enough continuities to make that plausible.
I dont know if anyone has mentioned it, but Scooby Do and the Alien Invaders was another great one
I believe that was the one after this? there was a string of 3 or 4 of these that were unexpectedly good. As a kid I loved Zombie Island, Witch’s Ghost and Alien Invaders, but I think Cyber Chase was the 4th one? And I don’t think I ever saw more than a bit of it, but I know that a lot of people love that one.
Edit:
Apparently those were the first 4 direct to video movies, as opposed to the tv movies/specials. I guess those 4 were all animated by a Japanese studio Mook Animation and directed by someone named Jim Stenstrum, so that must have been the magic combination that made them turn out so well, compared to the 30 subsequent films.
@@JesusOfPaign Yeah. All of the other tv movies/direct to video movies were...fine. Some were better than others but nothing had that spark of creativity and threat of real monsters plus an unmasking of crooked white people like the first 4. Although Where's My Mummy? had a great twist reveal.
Loch Ness Monster was one of my favorites.
I’m so excited for them to hopefully watch Cyber Chase that was my favorite one! I loved that all the early 2000s movies had some element of actual real monsters. Made it so cool!
That one was amazing!
If you guys really want to see more "Scooby-Doo but it's real" then I 100% recommend the Supernatural episode "Scoobynatural"!! It's literally a direct crossover and it's amazing!! You don't really need to know anything about Supernatural to watch it, it's in one of the last seasons so that would be unrealistic, all you need to know is Sam and Dean are brothers (Dean is the older one, Sam is younger), and their friend Castiel is an angel that's learned to love humanity and the human world. The three of them fight monsters and demons and other supernatural beings in our own world, but predominantly in the US.
Let's just say that things get a little wild during this crossover episode. My dad even watched it with me when it came out with no context about the show and he absolutely loved it, lol. I definitely think you guys would love it!! Especially Boom with Velma 😂😂
There are a total of 14 scooby doo series, 41 animated movies and 5 live action ones. The is the first series(1969) that had 25 epiodes in total and after that is The New Scooby-Doo Movies(1972) which had 1hour long 24 episodes that kept the same formula as the original but in every epidode there is a cameo from someone celebre or from a fictional character. The Scooby-Doo Show(1976) that has 40 episodes with the same formula but also has a new main character, Scooby-Dum, the cousin of Scooby. Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (1979) is the series that introduced Scrappy Doo, the nephiew of Scooby, it has 49 episodes and is more about Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy, Dephnie Freddi and Velma beeing more of side characters. The New Scooby Doo Mysteries(1983) that has 26 episodes and like in the previous one, Fried and velma are side characters and the show concentrates on the same trio, but this time also on Daphnie. The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo(1985) has 13 episodes and is the first Scooby Doo show that has a story , it also has the same 4 main characters as The New Scooby Doo Mysteries, the ither 2 characters not apearing at all. A Pup Named Scooby-Doo(1988) is the series that returned to the clasic formula but this time the characters are kids, it has 26 episodes. What's New, Scooby-Doo?(2002) has 42 episodes and is the series that truly returned to the clasic formula. Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!(2006) has 26 episodes and is just about Shaggy and Scooby. Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated(2010) has 52 episodes and the second series with a story and is also the darkest one. Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!(2015) has also 52 episodes and returns to the clasic formula, but it is known to be the goofiest series and the one with the worst art style. Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?(2019) has also 52 episodes and it returns to the The New Scooby-Doo Movies formula with every episode haveing a cameo. And then there is Velma which doesn t even deserve to talk about it
This is really cool! Thanks for the info
And Frank Welker has voiced Fred for pretty much all of them (minus the Pup series as he was meant to be an actual child). And in more recent series has also voiced Scooby. And OG Megatron.
All these Scooby bangers! Love this one it introduces my favorite band growing up “The Hex Girls”
If you guys want a show of Scooby-Doo having real creatures I'd suggest "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo" and it's recent sequel film
OMG did they finally finish that series? I watched the whole thing back in the 90s and was like, "Wait that's IT?!"
Do not watch that movie! instead watch scooby doo meets courage the cowardly dog
@@Zodia195the film Scooby-Doo and the 13th ghost gives closure to the show. Not a perfect film but not bad either
@@Alpha7040I've seen both of those, really enjoyed them both personally
Wicca is a belief system, scooby doo is just wild. Warlock doesn’t mean “male magic user” nor does Wizard. Warlock just means oath-breaker
If you want a whole show like this then I can't recommend Mystery Incorporated enough! I think you guys will really enjoy it and its only two seasons. But if you want more movie recommendations like this then the two Live action ones are great as are Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders, and Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase. I'd also recommend Scooby Doo and the Loch Ness Monster.
And the crossover with KISS!
Fun Fact: The Mystery Gang was originally supposed to be a traveling band with instruments in the van.
My favorite Scooby Doo movie and I love that Jennifer Hale voices Thorn
Fun Fact: Maurice LaMarche was originally considered for the role of Ben Ravencroft.
Tim was perfect he is amazing as a villain
While Maurice would’ve done a good job, I think Tim Curry was the best choice.
Bizarre experience involving ocean water. When I was 14, I had a sore throat that lingered for an entire summer. I ended up going to the beach accidentally swallowed some water while playing in the ocean. Instantly cured. My mom did always say to gargle salt water for sore throats.
Yep, salt water, seaweed and whale semen -- does the trick every time.
@@joshuagross3151 Huh, that's some good advice! Wait hold up, WHALE SEMEN!?!?!? WTF!?
For those who do not know; Mystery Incorporated is a Live Actor/Adult version of Scoody-Doo, produced and starring members of the cast. Think the Riverdale show style TV; which is here on RUclips. Although; they only have one Episode, they are working on making more with their INDIEGOGO account. The reason why I'm writing this is; the show is bad-ass, and features The Hex Girls. They even do a new version of the Hex Girls theme song in the episode. I would suggest watching it; after you guys get down watching this. You don't have record it for your channel; as I'm sure many people don't know about Mystery Incorporated
I mean, I know the gang's name is Mystery Inc., but it's puzzling why they decided to create a fan film with a similar name considering that Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated-the animated series-had recently concluded and was ewgaining popularity through streaming and reaction channels (because the follow up series weren't as strong). When I search for Mystery Incorporated, the first thing that appears is the animated series itself. The fan film briefly received top billing when it was released, but now it's back to Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated (the animated series) dominating the search results. The fan-film's creators should have added some other clarifier to distinguish it, like Secrets of Mystery Incorporated, Uncharted Mysteries: Mystery Incorporated, IDK just something different.
I can't wait till you guys get to Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase that movie is my favorite Scooby-Doo movie of all time
For the voice actor trivia, two of the Hex Girls are voiced by Shepard and Ashley from Mass Effect.
Ravencroft literally could've gotten away with this if he had just been chill when he got the book.
*Ravencroft* : Thanks for finding the book guys, see you tomorrow.
One of my all time favorites the atmosphere this movie has is unmatched and the Hex girls are just top tier
0:21 zombie island is the best but this is a close second
Love the shady shoutout to Williamsburg, just down the road from where i live. It’s very much something you have to be into in order to like. I use to work down the road at Jamestown, which is like colonial Williamsburg but with boats and armor and swords and stuff. Way more fun 😂
Alien Invaders was the third one in the group of 4 that came out and it also included the Pilot episode of Courage The Cowardly Dog.
Cyber Chase was the fourth one and had some nice nostalgia moments to it. All four of these movies came out on tape when they released.
4:47 yeah this is the problem with watching Scooby-Doo as an adult. The villains are to obvious. As a kid you trust everyone who’s nice to you because you don’t have the ability to imagine someone who’s demeanor is gentle and calming as a villain. As an adult he’s suspicious but as a child he’s just a nice guy until the reveal.
I love the Hex girls, they were my first girl crushes. And I still listen to their music, especially around Halloween. As for wanting some more really, if you mean they get cases that are really instead of a man in the mask, the series "Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated" has some really stuff with some masks as well, I not totally sure because it has been a while since I watched the series, but I do remember it being pretty cool.
They had so much time to stop him while he was monologuing! 🤣🤣
2:35 That only happened once iirc. The original skeleton of brontosaurus turned out to be the skull of a camarasaurus on the body of an apatosaurus. This mistake was eventually corrected, and a new species was discovered that was named the official brontosaurus.
And yes, the witch’s dress would have had huge pockets! Haha pockets used to be a separate item tied around the waist under the skirts, it was only around the 1900-1920s we lost women’s pockets as the fashion styles changed to much slimmer dresses
"Sons A Witches" is the sixth episode of Season Twenty-One, and the 283th overall episode of South Park.
Since the Alien Invaders video got privated while I was watching it, I came to this one.
THE NOSTALGIA!
I USED TO WATCH THIS SO MUCH WHEN I WAS YOUNGER
It goes like this
1 zombie island
2 witches ghost
3 alien invaders
4 cyber chase
There was a recipe for actual scooby snacks. I forgot what it was but I remember it had peanut butter in them and they were baked in an oven. It is likely closer to the cartoon version then the box store kind as I have had those before too that I got for kids birthday. Funny enough no one but my family ate them because everyone thought they were dog treats since they are shaped like bones. I didn’t find that part till like a week later and asked my neighbor why he though I would put dog treats out on the table when my family doesn’t own a dog nor did we invite people to bring their dogs.
They only released one album, but the Hex Girls songs from this movie were created by a band called The Moon Sisters.
If you want more Hex Girls, they are also in Legend of the Vampire.
The Witches Ghost is loved by my folks for Halloween when I go through our collection of Halloween movies. My mom loves the Hex girl song that she asked me to reward it and play it again if she asked.
It's a trip to have watched both this and the It miniseries as a very small kid realizing decades later that Ben Ravencroft and Pennywise are the same guy
Wicca is a modern Neo-Pagan religion. It was founded by Gerald Gardner in the 1960's. He claimed he was taught the religion in secret but there is no evidence that Wicca existed before him. Its a duotheistic religion focusing on a Father God and Mother Goddess and focuses on Earth based spirituality. It derives much of its teachings from European polytheistic religions.
Its not a blood or race type thing. Anyone can be a Wiccan just like anyone can be Christian.
I was just thinking about your last reaction. So happy to see this one! Keep up this series and have fun!
that little comment at the beginning about Night at the Museum...Yall need to watch them. fantastic
I see that you guys are bingewatching the Scooby-DOo movies lol. I need to rewatch a couple of them I remember watching like Big Top, Cyber Chase and Where's My Mummy? Oh, and there was that one with John Cena and Courage the Cowardly Dog crossover movies.
And the one with KISS!
Wicca is a religion that was established around the 1950s.
Not to to mention one of the most fire end credits songs in Scooby Doo
Zomble island reference her book store reading all his books
The gang actually do know how to play instruments because they were originally supposed to be a musical band before it evolved and turned into the mystery gang we all know and love
I was so excited to see this video drop. This one is my favorite Scooby Doo anything, outside Mystery Incorporated. The Hex Girls still rock to this day.
I remember a couple years ago there was this trend about people hopping in people's streams doing "BILLY!!!"... now I know where it came from!
This is actually the first ever time the Hex Girls were revealed
fun fact (i guess?):the scooby gang can actually play instruments and sing as seen in legend of the vampire and other films like stage fright and music of the vampire (which was basically a musical)
I remember seeing the hex girls in multiple episodes/movies ❤ always a fun time with them and great music
@Sorta Stupid Reacts this is the first appearance of the Hex girls in the Scooby-Doo franchise/mythos.
Should definitely do Cyber Chase next, it's part of these movies. And Scooby-Doo and the Legend of the Vampire is another movie with the Hex Girls in it, but that's mostly all I remember from it lol
13:39 Yo like no joke I want to ask everyone who do you think would win a eat off between Shaggy, Scooby, Luffy and Goku cause gosh damn I want to see those four go at it in an eating contest.
I never thought I would need to hear it, but a country western version of the Scooby-Doo theme song was amazing. Especially sung by Billy Ray Cyrus.
I love that you continue with the Scooby-Doo reavtions. I hope you try Misctery Inc. as well))
If you’re gonna do more Scooby movies after the big four, I’d recommend Monster of Mexico, Where’s My Mummy, and Loch Ness Monster, though I admit all of those are nostalgia picks.
This is my favorite of the first Scooby-Doo movies. The final act is insane!
the hex girls were one of my scooby doo crushes next to sibella from the ghoul school scooby doo movie
that guy makes me think of David Xanatos from gargoyles
Yes! Exactly
I never realised Tim Curry voiced a villain in this movie too. I only remembered him voicing the villain in Scooby Doo Night of 100 Frights.
He was actually going to play the villain of the live-action movie as well but back out of it when he found out Scrappy was in it. 😅
@@Andrew-Bastin Fair enough xD
The Mastermind! I loved the game despite some flaws it has.
Alien invaders and cyber chase are also amazinggg
The original premise of Scooby Doo was they were a traveling band
Warner Bros Discovery was about to enter the animation stage for a new Scooby direct to video movie starring the Hex Girls. The voices and songs had all been recorded. The higher ups were contemplating cancelling all the direct to video Scoobies then someone went and leaked the Scooby/Krypto crossover movie. It was so bad that it sealed the final nail in the coffin. The Hex Girls movie would have probably been the one to turn things around!
Yeah I really wanted to see the cancelled scooby doo haunted high rise because I love the hex girls 😭
Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School was my favorite Scooby movie when grew up.
Fred is deadass strong enough to beat the bricks off of most of these people. He benches 220 for reps lmao
You know, there is a Scooby-Doo series called Mystery Incorporated. Trust me when I say that it is one of the best Scooby-Doo shows to have ever existed.
Hex Girls ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Also, Ruff immediately calling out Ben as the villain is hilarious
It is a religion. I think "Wiccan" was just the word they chose to distinguish good witches from bad witches in the comtext of the movie lol
I loved the Hex Girl songs throughout my childhood, but I never knew how much of a pop culture phenomenon they became until a year or two ago
Sorry about all the comments too. You question about Wiccan blood, in reality no it's not something that is hereditary. Wiccan is an actual practice (I have a few friends who are Wiccans), but the only time you see anything 'magical' in a bloodline is in fictional stuff like this.
The funny thing is I think that the opening theme is billy ray Sirus
Personally I like the Scooby Snack gram crackers. They have a bit of cinnamon in them. Every time I get some I end up eating the entire box full, haha.
@9:41- Ummm, San Antonio local here. Yes the Alamo isn't huge, at least compared to the other Missions, so I can understand that it might have let you down if you were expecting something 'big', but it is extremely important to the state and what it stands for, that's what makes it important to us Texans. I say though if you're not a fan of History, the Alamo may not be for you. If wanted to see a large mission in the SA area as far as bigger grounds, there's San Jose. But yeah sorry the Alamo disappointed you though.
You know something's wrong when the ghost on the cover is blue and not green.
Billy ray cyrus sang this movie’s theme song :)
The Hex Girls were when child me realized two things about myself:
I’m a pagan
And I’m definitely not straight 😂
Thanks for reacting to this, I love scooby-doo and is just amazing to see you guys watching!!!
My first time hearing Tim Curry, and my first time hearing a Billy Ray Cyrus song
The line Ben says when releasing Sarah is Tim Curry's favorite line in all of his acting career. And don't mind him, he's always pretty dramatic in being evil, and I love it.
You’re right it is a human that voice the dog
Being a wicked mean to use the natural earth the Wizard of Oz is a fourth wall breaker
Dinosaur definitely were my versions of trains to 😂
The movie is cartoon fiction and in fiction in general often using magic is depicted as something you’re born able to do so they falsely labeled being Wiccan as something you’re born into, though at the same time they didn’t “initially” define a Wiccan as a magic practitioner rather someone who respects the earth & practices all natural medicine so I’m not sure why you’d need to be born one. I “think” they did in the end imply that wiccans are good magick practitioners and witches are evil ones considering casting the imprisonment spell would require an ability to do magic. Irl not all wiccans practice magick and not all practitioners are wiccans with those who practice Wicca believing in specific deities as Wicca is a religion.
I actually went there, Williamsburg, Virginia. I enjoyed it. I got a costume in the gift shop to where I got one of those colonial yarn dolls. I still have her and they had some very nice homemade candy and and drinks but then I’m a history buff so I enjoyed it.
Can't wait for the next movie where Shaggy almost gets probed by an alien
this is a good thanksgiving scooby doo movie
they actually included a scooby snack recipe with the copy of this movie, I can't remember the full thing but they were coconut cookies and they were good.
The one building at The Alamo is just the church, the actual fort itself was 10X bigger
Warlocks aren’t actually male witches, warlocks means traitor to the Coven.
From what I understand, Wicca is just a religious practice, not a race, so anyone can become wiccan. And if I remember correctly, Wiccan is a modern practice, started in the 1940s I think, so it wouldn't have been a thing during the Pilgrim era (1620s). So yeah, this movie isn't correct about that stuff.
Regardless of the inaccuracies, I still enjoy this Scooby Doo movie, mostly because of the Hex girls; Zombie Island and Alien Invaders are my favorite. Thanks for another great reaction!
It started in 1950s England, and it’s basically just bringing back various pagan practices and traditions. Pagan means anything polytheistic from the 4th century. So in the context of the movie it’s not incorrect they’re just using the modern term Wiccan instead of Pagan since Pagan has a negative connotation amongst Christians
What was said above, also it takes elements of pagan practices from various mythologies like Celt and Greek. I always considered "Wiccan" to be their choice of word to separate good witches from bad witches for the context of the movie.
There is a tv episode where they make daphne a hex girl as well
It's funny how the turkey knew what was gonna become of it somit ran.
