To answer your questions about the continuity, the series has had the same continuity from Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!(1969) to What's New, Scooby-Doo?(2002), after that each series has been a reboot to varying degrees, I will give a special mention to A Pup Named Scooby Doo(1988) as that series was mix between prequel, reboot and parody.
As for the movies, Zombie Island(1998) to Samurai Sword(2009) are all part of the original continuity, Abracadabra-Doo(2010) to Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!(2022) are part of a soft-reboot to the original continuity, it’s difficult to describe but these movies are loosely canon to what came before.
As for the live action and cgi movies, they’re pretty much their own thing.

Before I say anything to be clear I not trying to argue and/or fight about continuity of Scooby I just want a better understanding, but does it technically count as being from 1969 to 2002? cause a reboot is a new start to a entasblished work, series and/or universe itself and there was a time before I was born when it was just Shaggy, Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo from 1979 till 1988? and I always kind of thought the first reboot was at that point cause 79 had the first Scooby doo movie (Scooby goes Hollywood) and after that movie is when they took out the gang and did Scooby and Scrappy then in 88 they dropped Scrappy and put them all back together with the tv show A pup named Scooby Doo (88-91) then 1998 is when the First Scooby Doo movie with the Gang came out. Again I just wanna better understanding I might be wrong and maybe the timeline I'm thinking isn't the first reboot but by definition I feel the first reboot was before 2002 sorry if I'm incorrect on any of this or offend anyone I'm just going off of what I remember and what I've looked up.

Zombie Island brought Scooby-Doo back from the dead. It set the precedent for future films and shows to come. Beforehand, Scooby-Doo was on the brink because it was labeled as childish, outdated, and it did not fit the cliche as being a horror-comedy because outside of the original series, the “monsters” were always some freak in a costume. I remember seeing this movie for the first time and at first, I thought it was a better version because I liked seeing the zombies and just the overall theme felt like a horror film however you had the expectation the zombies were just humans in costumes…that perceptions changes the minute you see them appear out of nowhere and “It’s Terror Time” starts playing at the same time Fred literally DECAPITATES a zombie! At that moment, every single one of us kids realized that SCOOBY-DOO WAS BACK! 😊

  • @Mike_Dubo

    Just a few notes:
    1. Its funny how this movie was advertised with the tagline "This time, the monsters are REAL", and how most people remember this movie for that, when this isn't even the first, or even second, time this occurred. You have Scooby Doo meets the Boo Brothers, Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School, Scooby Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf (in this one, Shaggy was a monster, and he had to race other monsters), there was one episode of that Scooby Doo with guest stars, where they met the Addams Family, and then, of course, there was The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo, whose entire premise, was Scooby and the gang chasing down actual spectres and demons, to put the back into the black magic box from whence they came.
All I'm saying with this one, is that the Mystery Gang, Scooby and Shaggy at least, have had experience when coming across actual supernatural entities!
    2. As far as continuity goes, it could be safe to assume anything within the 70's and 80's was probably a single timeline, and after A Pup Named Scooby Doo, they slid timescale up to then modern times, kinda like Marvel's comic timeline, most movies were probably just happening one after the other, Mystery Inc. is seperate from the rest, the live action stuff is its own thing (i hope), and any spinoff (Shaggy and Scooby Doo: Get a Clue) was just a thing that had no bearing on any actual timeline.
...(not to self: try not to discuss timlines of decades long franchises when it is close to midnight)
    3. If you haven't tried gumbo before, you owe it to yourself to try it at least once.

This movie revitalized Scooby-Doo. Then there was "Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost" that introduced the Hex Girls. Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders was the last one to follow these movie's formula and then "What's New Scooby-Doo" that kicked scooby into the 2000s with more of a modern take with 2000s vibes and a loose timeline and that created a ton of movies that sort of followed the What's New Scooby Doo canon. The live actors movie then took place with SMG and Matthew Willard. Then, Mystery Inc did soft a reboot/alt universe/early years. It is a different take that follows a stricter timeline, it has a rocky start but gains it's footing eventually and is decent.
"A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" is GOATED! and will always be the true early years of the Scooby Gang.

On top of the darker feel, the fact the gang dealt with real monsters and magic, the awesome songs and the pretty cool art style and animation for 1998 standards, apparently if my sources are correct, this was originally going to be a Swat Kats: The Radical Squadron movie before some kind of behind the scenes executive changes got in the way, and now here we are. You know, after knowing the twist and rewatching, you notice that at no point are the zombies actually trying to be threatening.
Even Morgan Moonscar, the most threatening zombie with his sword in hand, at no point holds his sword aggressively at Scoob and the gang. When he first rises up, he holds his sword unthreateningly off to the side, away from Shaggy and Scooby, like he has no intent to use it at all and just happens to be holding it. Instead, he keeps his empty hand upheld and outstretched towards them in a pacifying gesture the whole time, exactly the pose you'd take when your next intended act is to say 'relax, it's okay, I know I'm scary but I don't want to hurt you! I just wanna talk!'
All the zombie 'attacks' on Scoob and the Gang really just consist of the zombies just lurching urgently towards them, moaning like they're trying to speak... because that's exactly what they're doing, trying desperately to warn Scoob and the Gang about the danger they're in, and literally too decayed to just spit it out. At one point a zombie even casually saves some of the Gang from quicksand by handing them a rope helpfully... that wasn't just a joke, the Zombies really are just trying to help all along.
It's so subtle in foreshadowing, and SO well done.

And I love how this movie flips the standard formula on its head. The ones you think are the villains are actually allies (and in Moonscar’s case an antihero imo). • @GuukanKitsune
      @GuukanKitsune 11 месяцев назад +1

@terminallumbago6465 I would put Morgan Moonscar down as a reformed villain hero at this point: he knows, full well, that all of this is HIS fault, and he has tried, all this time, to try and stop the horrors he created in his barbarous cruelty.
Having endlessly tried and failed, tried and failed, tried and failed, and watching so many people suffer and die and join him in tormented undeath because of his crimes and his failure has definitely had an effect on him... an effect made all the more potent by the keen knowledge that his own misery and the misery of all the others, is HIS SIN to bear, his ultimate burden and torment.
Knowing it was all his fault
He is not anymore the man he was when he drove those settlers into the Bayou. He hasn't been for a very long time. His suffering taught him the error of his ways long, long since. It's why he is so desperate to save the werecat's victims, every time. Why he leads the zombies to try and warn them.
He is trying to put an end to the cycle of victimization he started.
      He is trying to atone.

And the "vampire girls" you're thinking of are the Hex Girls, from Witch's Ghost, my personal favorite. You should watch them all.

After this, then they started encountering more supernatural creatures, including in the live action movie and in Mystery Inc. and of course, the Spernatural/Scooby Doo crossover was great as well.

I actually recently obtained a print for this movie which I was able to get signed by Billy West (Shaggy), Scott Innes (Scooby-Doo) and Jim Cummings (Jacques the ferryman and Morgan Moonscar). They were at the same convention. I rather hope to fill the print out with more signatures eventually. Though if I ante up the fee for a signature from Mark Hamill, I'll probably want it to be Star Wars related, and he's a pretty expensive signature.

Scooby doo has been rebooted a couple of times each show is usually 3 seasons are less. The original was called scooby doo where are you? It was made in 1969, henceforth the Scooby Doo Where Are You song, which played in the movie is the same song that was played in the original series just different singers. The first episode of this show that was aired on Tv was called Hassle in the Castle. The original lasted 3 seasons. the next show was called The New Scooby-Doo Movies. Although they weren't movies, about an hour-long episodes. Scooby doo would cross over with other characters including Batman, the three stooges, Sherlock Holmes, and other famous characters. This one was made in 1972.
Though out the 70s there were a couple of Scooby shows that came out including The Scooby-Doo Show, Scooby, and Scappy Doo, and finally in 1979 The New Scooby-Doo and Scappy Doo Show.
Finally, in 1985 they made a short series called Scooby doo and the 13 Ghosts (which also has a movie many years later called The Curse Of the 13th Ghost.) A Pup Named Scobby doo was a prequel to the original show and was made in 1988. Then in 1989 though 2002, they made movies including Zombie Island, The Alien Invaders, and The Cyber Chase to name a few. Then in 2002, they made What's New Scooby-Doo? After that it was Scooby Doo and Shaggy get a clue in 2006 Then Finally in 2010 Mystery Incorporated was made which really goes deep into the lore and definitely A darker take on the show.
Though out the years there have been more movies before and after the early 2000s. In 1988, a classic called The Reluctant Werewolf, and in 2020 another prequel movie called Scoob. Yet this is the order of the shows and the movies. Besides the live-action ones. Also, it may have not shown much in this movie but everyone can understand Scooby but yes he is Shaggy's dog.

@Sorta Stupid Reacts what made this movie so special was the fact that this is the first time in the Scooby-Doo franchise where the main villains of the franchise weren't just a criminal in a costume, this was the first time real monsters were introduced into the Scooby-Doo franchise. These Scooby-Doo movies zombie island, witches ghost, alien invaders, and cyberchase are all part of the same universe in witches ghost there is actually an easter egg from this movie. These movies are a great animated saga that has a special place in my childhood 😊 zombie island and witches ghost I still have the VHS 📼 tapes of them to this day.

There are 12-13 different Scooby TV series (idk if they count Velma, I wouldn't). Over 40 movies.
Not to mention all the show cameo episodes like Supernatural's 'Scoobynatural'.
I always liked the one where they'd have guest stars like Dick Van Dyke, Don Knotts, Sonny and Cher. I think it was The New Scooby-Doo Movies.
Live action is worth it for Linda Cardellini as Velma, alone. I personally wish I could see the R rated cut of that movie. Idk I'd they filmed it, but apparently it was supposed to be a _lot_ more adult.
