    Thanks Anthony, while I was aware of the bush to alter that mask, I didn't know that the options at the upper left controlled the brush. The ability to alter the choices made by the AI is one of the reasons I like the Photoshop approach as opposed to Luminar. You can mask the sky replacement in Luminar, but then it also masks out the default scene relighting(even if you have scene relight to zero).

    Hi Anthony have you tried the tip of reflecting the sky on water by first flipping the photo and replacing the sky? Look at Matt Kloskowski’s Hacked sky reflection.

    Thanks Anthony. Your tutorials make it so much easier to understand how PS and LR works. I have an image where I replaced a clear blue sky with some clouds, but I at am a loss on how to replicate that new sky as a reflection on the still water that is on the bottom one third of the image. Any tips?

    Thanks Anthony! I've followed your instructions to the letter, but I am using Photoshop 25.9.0 BETA and can't seem to get the + painting to take effect. All my settings match your video, but nothing paints into the open space of my very ancient house, sitting in the field?? Any ideas? 🤔

    I have an inside shot with window, when I open in photoshop then click edit the drop-down box does not have sky replacement illuminated, I am new to this does anyone know how to remedy this.

  • @branchau
    @branchau 3 года назад +2

    While this is useful in addressing the issue it describes, it also ought to have mentioned the Photoshop sky replacement has no reflection capability. It is a glaring drawback as shown here in both photos; they have a water body in their foreground and their new sky does not reflect on it. That detracts in my view from the overall utility and credibility of Photoshop's sky replacement feature in like photos.

    I followed the steps as you did. When I attempted to use the brush to add the sky to the the areas that did not have the replacement, the new sky was not added. Why? and how do I add the sky to those areas?

    Anthony I'm having this issues when you sky replacement. When I open a new image and try to work on it I'm getting this response after I do one version and then try to do another. "could not complete your request because the file could not be found." Do you need to move the my sky replacement files into a photoshop directory before you load them?
    Any help or ideas thanks

    As always, your videos are the bomb! On all of my Adobe surveys, I tell them they need to have training as good as guys like you! The problem I have with sky replacement is the slight "film" I see in the replaced portion of the image. If I adjust the mask directly, I have to brush the entire sky to avoid having artifacts on the image. Maybe I should do all the adjustment in the tool rather than on the mask? Have you noticed this hazing or film over the replaced portion of the sky? Thanks.
    Actually, I just tried using the tools mask adjustment with one of the stock sky images that came with the tool. I still see this "film" in the replaced sky. Maybe I am just a pixel peeper, but this is driving me crazy.

    • @johnbrzezinski1446
      @johnbrzezinski1446 Год назад

      I don't know if what you describe as "a film" is the same thing that's driving me nuts. When I insert a replacement sky (especially when the subject is a building), the part of the sky bleeds over the edges of the building. Put another way, the mask does not end abruptly at the edge of the building, but has a feather edge to it. I can clean it up with that brush, but it's is incredibly tedious/time-consuming. ALSO: This feather edge of the sky replacement mask does not entirely paint in the sky up tight to the building. Instead is it's a blend of the new sky and the existing sky. As Anthony said, Sky Replacement is a work in progress, but it's been two years without a fix. If this is the film that you are talking about and you have found a solution, please post. Thanks.

    • @dboyd8628
      @dboyd8628 Год назад +1

      @johnbrzezinski1446 Adjusting the mask is the only way I know to clean it up. I have not tried using the newer masking tools like selecting objects to see if it improves the process. I tried a few sky replacements when the feature was first released, but I almost never do it now. I just add color, etc. to the sky I have. Replaced skies rarely seem to look natural to me.

    I saw a comparison of this with Luminar AI. In that video Luminar did better around small tree branches and the like where Photoshop lost them, just made the fine detail disappear behind the new sky. I wondered then if the tools you just demonstrated were available in Ps. Nice to see they are.
    But are these tools enough to fix such an issue? After Photoshop does its thing are those fine details recoverable? And how would you fix an area like this where there is simply too much fine detail to brush? Would use use overlay mode and broad brush it? Sorry for so many questions, but I've not yet had occasion to try it myself. I hope you've got another short video about this in the works -- and thanks for this one.

      Tony, I'm pretty agnostic as to what I use. So far, surprisingly, I find Luminar 4 more effective with complex sky replacement. I'm pretty surprised given all Adobe's resources. It would be be easy to chuck Luminar and work within Adobe but I'm not ready... Maybe as you say the PS Sky Replacement will become a "more mature" tool

    It's nice that Adobe has come (late) to the sky-replacement-party BUT what with Luminar 4 or Luminar AI WHY would I want to use an inferior sky replacement method? Oh well, I guess I am too pragmatic ...

    I love how these videos that teach always leave out something. I have followed the steps exactly and the brush doesn't paint in the area that the sky replacement didn't see. it does nothing. do I have to do something with the layers first ? I clicked on the brush. it automatically is in the plus. with overlay and 50 opacity. and two hours later I cannot get it to fill in anything. every time these videos done by exports do this to me. and they always use the word simply do this and simply do that. and then it simply doesn't work. and when I try to clone part of the new sky to do it that way. it won't let me clone the new sky. I have watch the first section of the video 10 times. I guess I'm just an f n idiot waisting my entire night away. and the real crazy thing is it's not a small little window I am trying to fill in. its a big section that the sky replacement misses every time I try it.
