One thing I like about Bridge is the ability to also save and organize audio files and videos... All your assets in one place. You can't put audio files in LR. Thanks for the update! 😊

I love Adobe Bridge. I find it indispensable nowadays. It has a ton of features that I don't use, but I use it for sorting, managing, viewing all of my various graphics files.

I use Bridge to review and rate my photos. Then use Ctrl-R to open selected photos for editing in Camera Raw. If I need to perform more advanced edits it is a simple matter to jump into PS from there... I only use Camera Raw to convert photos to JPEG as the export function is far superior to Bridge. Use to use Lightroom exclusively but file management is beyond ridiculous and moving back and forth to PS from Lightroom is as natural as eating paint... Have not opened Lightroom in years.

Bridge also has options under Tools to send multiple images into Photoshop as a layered stack or as a Photomerge panorama or HDR stack. Working with images in Bridge doesn’t require importing them into a catalog as Lightroom does. For editing images if you double click on a raw file in Bridge it should open directly into Camera Raw and not have to open Photoshop first. ACR lives within Bridge as well as in Photoshop, or at least both programs can access ACR separately. Little known but Bridge is also available as a free download even to non CC subscribers, so some fans of Affinity Photo which lacks any library or browse functions use Bridge as their “Library” module as you can set it up to open files from Bridge into Affinity. And as others have pointed out, Bridge will read all kinds of media assets, thus the name - it can serve as a Bridge from a library of assets into Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects as a core program for the CC suite of applications.

If you have your images in Filmstrip layout. You can right click on each image and edit the image in Camera Raw and click on Open to go to Photoshop. Camera Raw has two locations or groups of presets which you get to in Camera Raw. It is quite extensive in black and white as well as color and you can add your own presets.

Me too. Just remove the best thing I ever did was get off of lightroom and switch to bridge and camera raw. I do use Lightroom mobile on my phone. Works well for photos on the fly.

I have used Bridge for about 10 years. It does exactly what I want a file management system to do. You can even use it to keep track of things like Excel files or music files if you are so inclined. I tried Lightroom, but I never understood all of the enthusiasm for it. Sure, you can edit photos in it, but that's why you have Photoshop. Why would I want to edit my photos in two different programs? I don't have any interest in adding another (redundant) learning curve to my life. And, yes, you can use CTRL+ a keypad number to label or rate a photo in the Windows version.

One key thing you omitted: using Bridge does NOT access the Lightroom catalog. So if you edit "outside of Lightroom" (e.g. Bridge or else), then the changes are not saved in the Lightroom catalog if/when you access the same photo in Lightroom you edited in Bridge (or Bridge to Photoshop). Correct me if I am wrong, but other courses I've taken on Bridge mentioned that. Also, unless you use XMP files in Lightroom you won't see your edits in Bridge because Bridge does not access the Lightroom catalog.

I've heard Bridge is very useful in shops where multiple people need to access the same photo's whereas in LR you cannot do this. Bridge also has advantages because other Adobe products can be accesses via Bridge. That said, I've heard that unless you prefer the Bridge Interface, LR/PS workflow works better for single user photo workflow, because you have LR-Map, and more option in LR-Print.

I don't use Lightroom at all. I only use Bridge, ACR and Photoshop. I did however watch a Julianne Kost tutorial recently on Lightroom and she demonstrated at quick way to send images to 'Collections' without dragging the image to the folder and she said it was the same in Bridge. I noticed in this video of yours, you actually dragged the images as well. Are you aware of how to use the 'quick' method in Bridge? I use 'Collections' often when saving images for a book project. I have a question. If suddenly I need to transfer the image library to another computer, will I have to re-register all the keywords in the bridge?

Bridge works on every kind of file, not just image files. I use it as a more graphic and powerful substitute for the Mac's "Finder" app to manipulate everything on my Mac.
It has powerful sort and select features, allows you to right click and "Move" or "Copy" files to folders that you select, without opening another Finder window.
For me it only really stumbles on video files. When you open a folder of these files, it not only makes thumbnails of them (very slowly), but for some reason creates full size cache copies of all of them and can fill gigabytes of disk space with junk. I've submitted several problem reports to Adobe about this issue over the years and never gotten an answer.

Do you know why Adobe Bridge keeps wanting to resize it's window periodically to the default setting. I set the window size to how I want it and it works for a few times properly. Suddenly it reverts to the default size and I have to resize the panels and the window once again. Couldn't find anything about it on the internet.

Hi thanks for the video really usefull .I currently use ps elements for organising my photos and it does pretty good job however being an x lightroom user which was always my prefered organiser until they got greedy so have been looking for an alternative. Tried on one which kept on junking my keywords and metadata and had some serious bugs so dropped using that. Does bridge have a catalogue backup similar to lightroom or elements as I think bridge looks like s good option thanks .

An excellent tutorial, I wish you cover a similar tutorial for Capture One, I use that and find its file system extremely complicated. By the way just as you’ve used the Lr folder in Adobe Bridge can one do something similar in Adobe Bridge for Capture One too? The issue with them is extremely complicated and varied file structures for Catalogs and Sessions; would be really great if you could cover that.

The on thing I wish that ADobe would let you do in bridge is create a folder structure similar to that of Lightroom (you know, where you can have Collection SEts/folders in addition to Collections--which in Bridge are just file lists stored as files). If they could make that happen (or make it so that Bridge could traverse and read a folder structure from where the Collections are stored, I would switch from LR instantly because that's the only real feature that's missing from Bridge that I do use in LR to keep my photos organized in my workflow.
While the Bridge experience is perhaps a little clunky, I do prefer the fact that your edits can be stored in XMP files, so if Bridge crashed, for example, you wouldn't necessarily lose all of your edits, whereas in Lightroom if your catalog gets corrupt, you may have just lost all of your edits for multiple photos. At least with bridge you might lose one or a few (depending on which files get damaged or destroyed but you wouldn't lose all of your edits as each is stored in an XMP file for each image you edit. Plus this makes transfering the filese and edits to another computer much easier.... you just copy the image file with its associated XMP file and you have all of your non-destructive edits. With LR you can export your edits as an XMP file but it's not the same, and usually, by default, LR stores edits in a single database (catalog file) for all of your image edits, which I really dislike.

Nice presentation. I do have a question for you. I just started looking at Adobe Bridge. When I go on a trip for 2 week or so, I take about 2000+ pictures. When I get home, I have the hardest time catalog them out. When flipping through the images, I wanted to be able to mark/favorite the pictures I want and didn't have to write the file # down so when I come back later, I can just pull those that I have mark/favorite them. Would I be able to do that in Adobe Bridge?

I look at it this way. Viewing Images in Bridge is like viewing images in your Windows explorer /or/ Mac finder. What happen when you move your file in windows explorer, the same results can be expected from Bridge. Because Bridge is just a replica of your Windows Explorer, but tons of features to preview, sort, tag and manage your creative assets visually.

I am just starting to learn Lightroom Mobile on my iPad and found out that it is very easy to have images from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom Mobile.
Does Bridge have the ability to mark a collection to have it show on my Lightroom Mobile?
Also, is there a way to open, let’s say, 5 images from Adobe Bridge and send them to Skylum’s Aurora for HDR processing without having to open first in Photoshop and then to Aurora?(I never stopped liking the results of HDR but only if it is drastically toned down.

Yes, edits made in Camera Raw from Bridge, will show up in Lightroom when you import. If it's already imported in Lightroom, it gives you a notification and option to import the externally modified metadata. If you make edits in Lightroom then choose to save metadata, the edits will be reflected in Bridge.

It's simple and easy to use and it seems that Adobe Bridge might be the closest software to the old iViewMedia Pro. Thanks you quite useful. I first open my raw files by Bridge from my SD card, star rate whatever I want and filter the stared ones before moving them to my external drive in the right folder - the associated xmp files are also moved along with raw file. When I import them into Lightroom for editing I don't see the star rating. It looks that Lightroom overwrites the xmp file made by Bridge. Any solution to that ? I meet maintain the the rating I made in Bridge.

I am finding myself using Bridge more often each day as there are some Search criteria available within Bridge that you can't search within LR; i.e. some aspect ratios. Yes. Go into Preferences/File Type Associations. Scroll down to the file type (say JPEG), click the dropdown next to the file type and choose Browse. Navigate to the *.exe file (say XnView) and Open. Now when you double-click a photo in Bridge it opens that program. To revert to original just go through the process again and choose Photoshop
