- Judge Kavanaugh found out that 'Jeopardy!' is the place to answer with a question, not a Senate hearing in which you've been accused of sexual assault.

An alcoholic, a gambler, a perjurer and an alleged gang rapist walk into a bar, and the bartender says "Hey, judge Kavanaugh."
Now im sure you're a LSSC staffer ...
This comment should be pinned to the top!
Kim Jong Fun.
Wow! That basically sums it up.
but surely, weed is stuff of the devil for him
wait for it...
Screaming louder and puffing yourself up doesn't make you innocent it just makes you look like an entitled agro man..Kavanaugh needs to step aside and calm down!
*boofing yourself up
Also a judge breaking down and crying like he did shows a weak emotional state.. I would expect thicker sking from someone trying to be on the highest court in the land...
Michelle Foucault I know your secret you performed felatio on that 2 year old boy you baby sat years ago - you thought no one knew about that didn’t you
jettstap ; what a sad person you are
No, but a lack of evidence provided by the accuser makes you innocent.
Two things I learned from the hearing:
1.) He likes beer.
2.) Wonders if others like beer.
Vanguard 1 ur an idiot
Hopefully that's not all you learned, because if so, that's incredibly sad. Or perhaps you learned everything about the hearings from headlines and "comedians" rather than listen to the full testimony and make your own assessment.
T GOD I seriously think fitness for SCOTUS is more important than whether you personally want to call another poster a name. Pointing out that this guy repeats and repeats his defensive “so I like beer” is actually identifying a serious personality disorder.
But I thought you couldn't drink in high school????
Trimelda- Aha! You nailed that one. Matt said that as a senior, aged 18, drinking was legal. That danced past discussion of what happened in prior years. Surprise, surprise, altar-boy Matt didn't volunteer a confession there.
I’m just wondering; does Kavanaugh like beer?
Hard to say.
He was pretty unclear on that point. Hopefully he will one day tell us his past and present stances on, and consumption status of, beer.
David Todd
I was wondering the same thing. He wasn't clear on that point. I wish he would have come right out and admitted he liked beer. Now we'll never know. The mystery will forever haunt me.
*_Only just wondering. I could not find a single piece of evidence in the video, so_*
He mildly enjoys beer
An innocent man would be begging for the chance to have an FBI investigation that would clear his name...
Liars and troll guess what you lost again
He did
🎼~And that is why he’s guiltyyyyyyyy~🎼
Innocent people dont need to beg for anything, they are innocent until proven guilty
@@fernandohood5657 how can they be proven guilty without an investigation, again?
If this was Kavanaugh sober, can you imagine how aggressive he is drunk?
I'm pretty sure he's a mean drunk. I believe Dr. Ford.
Up until seeing the clips from the hearing, I saw Kavanaugh as a guy who'd been a proper asshole and a misogynist in school and then grown out of it on the day of graduation, someone about whom you could truly say their past doesn't reflect their present. Associating those horrendous details to the cucumber in a suit Kavanaugh seems to be had just enough of a disconnect that could make people who have existing bias believe him.
Thank you, Brett, for showing us your true colours and the anger and entitlement of a man wholly capable of pinning down a woman to a bed and covering her mouth when she tries to object.
It makes me shudder to think someone like that is being considered for a high office. nonetheless ever got to be a judge in the first place. He reminds me of the many abusive drunks in my life that ive dealt with over the years. i do have to say im surprised boofing was in his vocabulary tho. that is some serious addict behaviors.
Right
you guys are idiots. so he showed emotion? um, if you were falsely accused of something wouldn't you be upset? just because she said something happened doesn't mean it did. i want the evidence. so far she is vague and unsure of the events that took place. people she knew can't connect the time and place of any of this even though she says that they were there? this whole thing feels like the salem witch trials.
Please can we keep in mind his own law school, Yale, pressed for this hearing? As did the American Bar Association? He's being investigated for his behavior on the job for the last few years, long before these allegations arose. He simply doesn't have the temperament.
jigaku shaja
Republicans didn't want an investigation. The 4 day investigation was wholly inadequate. They were determined to get a partisan right wing servant on the bench. Now we've seen the real Kavanaugh we can be sure the republicans got exactly what they wanted.
I don't care if was a republican voted to the bench but surely there's lots of good candidates out there that don't lie and have the integrity and temperament lacking in Kavanaugh.
Disgusting game this political farce.
Investigated 7 times and still wasn't found guilty. So stop trying trying to force your narrative.
TWO OF HIS ACCUSERS HAVE NOW ADMITTED TO MAKING THEIR CLAIM UP hahahaha
"One man's black out is another man's 'street nap'" LoooooLLL
Haahaahaahaaaaaaa!
😂😂👍👍🍺🍺❤❤
There's the Brett we've heard so much about.. must have had a few beers before the hearing.
I'm guessing not. He's too agitated. Needs a bit o' the hair of the dog.
He was rather nervous.
he likes beer though
He sure did show some true colors today. His roommate said he had a temper and was belligerent. I feel sorry for his family. Another Narcissist. They can not handle any kind of criticism. If they feel their character is attacked, they go into a rage. He screamed guilt!
he really did sound like the drunk at the end of the bar
THe whole, " I like beer" defense came off so rehearsed. It was clearly his favorite talking point. I like beer, i drink beer, i like beer sam i am.
Lol, hahah, yeah
"I like my beer, indeed I do.
And all my friends like their beer too.
We drink our beer all day and night
Until there's no more beer in sight.
Everybody should drink beer
But if you don't then never fear:
There's also punch - with roofies too -
Whole bowls of punch that wait for you.
But surely beer is the best of all.
And now we'll go and drink it all."
George R that and “I was a good student, a good athlete. I busted my butt in school and went to Yale blah blah blah”
@@overlydramaticpanda lol
Haha rehearsed my asss. If that was rehearsed so is your shit comment. Evidence already stated that Ford was paid and had the committee chair feinstein set everything up. Oh but I'm guessing you only watched Ford's testimony.
I think the largest portion of discontent comes from him not appearing close to being impartial as a potential supreme court judge. His statement was heavily political. Come on now, a Clinton conspiracy? Regardless of his innocence or guilt he has been very emotional, not a calm rational reaction you expect from a judge. I expected him to have said something along the lines of
" What has happened to Dr.Ford is awful and very traumatic, it should be taken very seriously. I am not the person who has done or is capable of any such horrible act. I welcome a polygraph. I also welcome an FBI investigation as I feel there might be a chance it would reveal the identity of the person responsible for what has happened to Dr Ford. Sexual assault is a big problem in our society and as a potential Supreme Court Judge I will do everything I can to help tackle this issue at large. I am now open to questions. * ---- Yes I did like a drink in high school, i was particularly fond of beer. --- No there is no chance i did something like this and then passed out and forgot. I agree with Dr.Ford that you would remember something so awful. Thank you all."
I expected him to answer questions calmly, without prejudice and give rational intelligent answers. That's the minimum you would expect from a Supreme Court Judge. The Republicans control both houses. If they control the Supreme Court which has to be impartial and have no party influences then you can't call it a democratic country. (It's not been that for a long time now anyway but it wasn't on the surface as much.) I don't know if he's innocent or guilty. He has proven he is not fit for such a high post in the way he has conducted himself, nor is he in any way impartial. Aye aye
yuli must Brilliant comment👏👏 thanks for that. That is indeed what a calm, rational - Innocent - individual should have said. Is he really a US Judge? Obviously it's a case of not what you know, but who you know.
Sexual assault is violence and abuse. Sexual assault is sexual assault. It is an act of violence.
yuli must HE DEFINITELY NEEDED YOU TO PREP HIM!!! Wow! That’s exactly how he should have approached such a sensitive topic. He may be innocent but for me it has gone past his innocence or guilt. Now I’m concerned with his partisanship and more importantly, his temperament. But you were spot on in how he should have handled his rebuttal to the allegations. 🌸
Your comment has incapulated my thoughts exactly. Thank you.
yep you said it all
"This is the most unethical sham since I've been in politics!"
Funny you say that, Lindsay. Merrick Garland says hi.
This. Precisely.
not really. he actually would side with Kavanaugh a fair amount of the time. He's a moderate go-to for the court for many years. But what Mitch McConnell did to obstruct his nomination was a joke and not a funny one at all. The radical right wants Kavanaugh SO bad so they can continue unjust wars and corporate controls without anyone able to fight back.
And if he's not confirmed, the Federalist Society will just come up with another right wing dandy, and next time it will probably be someone to the right of Eva Peron.

Where was Lindsay Graham's outrage when Trump and other republicans were crying for Al Franken's resignation over a prank photo??
Kim Jong Fun well there was proof there you idiot, now you don’t have any proof.
Graham is a mental and moral midget.
Where was his rage when Trump took money from FEMA right b4 the hurricane?
Lindsay has been compromatted.. He is 100% lap dog for trump now.. His show was all about trying to get the ag job.
Clutching his pearls and screaming like a ignorant southerner...
Lindsay Graham knew Trump was watching, he was doing this to apply a job, most likely the one Sessions currently holds.
Do they all seriously believe we've forgotten how they shut out Merrick Garland?
GenuineBronxite Linsey Graham seems to think so.
Lindsey's faux outrage was obnoxious. I don't think Kavanaugh has the Temperament to be a Supreme Court Judge. Lindsey doesn't have the Temperament to be a Senator and I certainly don't have the Temperament to put up with this crap anymore. I'm taking a Hard Left at the Next Election - that's where the Moral Highground is.
right on, Kevin.
That's where the moral highground has been for quite some time now.
Kevin Burdeshaw clearly this is the first you have ever heard or seen of kavanaugh, becuase he is never like this except for when the left pulls a stunt like this trying to ruin a mans life for political gain. It’s disgusting. These democratic senators are truly evil. This is truly ridiculous.
Ethan Jensen the left pulled a stunt by molesting women decades ago? How? Just assuming this pathetic alcoholic Ivy League baby would have a chance at getting on the Supreme Court, and the women they got drunk and molested would speak out? Holy shit they’re good. That’s a stunt, damn right! Ruin his life? Hahaha wow, so if a filthy rich liar (you just pointed out very clearly that he has no integrity and pretends to be whatever fits the circumstances) doesn’t get a lifetime appointment as a Supreme Court judge his life is ruined? 😢 aw how cruel, that poor lil guy, wtf is he going to do instead? Retire with more money than like 90% of Americans will ever make?:(
The Supreme Court needs to be completely disassembled and rebuilt with strict term limits and a fair and equal ratio of greedy corrupt fake Christian conservatives to greedy corrupt democrats. We can have freedom through government by the people, or this rampant corruption and a bunch of ultra-wealthy geriatrics wearing adult diapers and showing signs of dementia who only act and work to gain the private approval of those corrupticians above them. This bullshit criminal takeover of the government will be remembered....and those who wouldn’t listen due to closed mindedness will be too. Lobbyists are running America as usual, but at least before this orange whiny bitch hired them, the illusion of a “democratic republic” could still be sold to the braindead masses. This is a plutocratic nation and our votes don’t count.
Now it’s almost as simple as “you either see reality for what it is, OR you think America has a bright future.” Stop seeing thing the way you want them to be and take them as what they ARE!
I concur Kevin.
Besides the accusation, I am very concerned about the partisan nature of his comments. Courts are to be apolitical so he has now disqualified himself. Plain and simple. This fiasco should be done now based on that alone.
You and the left are living in a delusion. If they succeed with this garbage everybody that gets accused from this day forth should be very afraid. People like those commenting here make me fear for this country. It's truly off the chart unjust. No proof of any credible kind and if he calls them out he's not fit. Let me guess, if he'd been calm, people would have said "Look how calm he is under all this pressure, only a psychopath could be this calm."
The left is making it so no matter what he says or does, he can't win. In 30 years of watching and studying politics I've never seen the left this bad. Never.
Weird that a comment about the necessity of courts being a-political would garner left vs right finger pointing comments...
If you think courts are bipartisan, you're an idiot. They're inherently partisan, they can vote outside of the lines of their party if they so wish but they are definitely partisan at least insofar as you have justices that you can track their voting patterns. If they're conservative, they'll vote that way. If not, they'll vote the other, generally speaking. In his case it's well known he's leaning Republican. It happens. Honestly, blame Justice Kennedy (a known partisan Democrat, by the way) for retiring. He should've held on till 2020 like Ginsberg if he really cared that much about the future of this country but he didn't. Blame him, though. Cause now Trump gets to pick the replacement, like it or not.
bluedance lilly You imply that any political bias entails disqualification from the Supreme Court. In that case you advocate for the removal of every judge on the Court, Republican and Democrat. That’s ridiculous
@ N S - evidence? Please supply something more than subjective opinion.
How could he drink so much beer when he was too busy with his studies and going to church?
He was very organized.
with a calendar
Right? I mean, a non-drinker drank beer with his friends, sometimes too many beers who busted his butt off studying and going to church.
Man must've slept like 2 hours a day.
To be fair church doesn't take a lot of mental energy, and a Catholic football player going to a Catholic school probably isn't put to the same standard as everyone else. Meaning I don't think he studied anything more than a case of beer and a woman's breast.
Well he boofed some of it
Judging by his reaction, i don't think he is ready to be impartial; also the turning of questions, "what do you drink..have you every blacked out" etc... seemed childish. Lastly, did anyone notice how he used the term "we"? It was almost as if he was saying , "everyone was doing it". You wouldn't accept that answer from your kid, why would you accept it from a judge?
Andre Williams If he were any competent judge, he would find himself guilty. He has no defense other than saying he’s not guilty. The book should be thrown at him.
Queen Bee, that would be too much like "taking responsibility"; something I feel he's not ready to do.
What everyone seems to be be forgetting here is that this is essentially a follow-up on a job interview, not a criminal court hearing. When interviewing a job applicant one often has to go with their gut as to the applicant's body language and demeanor in response to specific questions. Based on that alone, I would reject Kavanaugh and go on to the next applicant.
Kathy....trump could nominate.... Merrick Garland !!
Kathy Styles exactly what I was thinking. As a manager in charge of hiring and firing, many times the person who shows up for the interview does not at all match what they've put on their resume or application. You just know they can't do the job right. I was late to this story but able to read that Kavanaugh simply isn't Supreme Court material. Even Clarence Thomas kept his relative cool through his hearing.
Ser Eric how many times do you get asked if you're a rapist? Exactly as many times as you've been accused of being one. By each senator on the committee.

BTW, When Lindsey Graham started his tirade, that Kavanaugh smirk said everything anyone needs to know about about him. Self-entitled, self-righteous, playing the victim, arrogant, and more. Not fit to be a judge, let alone a justice.
That smirk said it all. He's likely going to be the new judge either way. Absolutely disgraceful.
It was “boofing” that I think you were referring to. Funnily enough, “boofing”-in many parts of Australia-means the same as “rooting” or having sex.

MrAramis02 exactly
Well all it takes is just someone going out there and saying it without any evidence whatsoever so Itd be pretty easy to
Ethan Jensen In which case the proper thing to do is to have the FBI investigate to see if there's any validity to the allegation.
Also, "without any evidence whatsoever" is a flat-out lie that ignores a good deal of stuff just from Ford alone.
Trying to say "nothing the accuser says can be used as evidence" goes directly against how the American legal system is supposed to work. AND in this case is misogynistic in the extreme; "her word can't be trusted against a MA-an's! Gracious, what do you think got into her little head, I do declare? OBVOUSLY nothing she says can be taken at face value... why? Well, well, because she's accusing a RESPECTED MAN, who has a SHINY FACE, is a good husband and father according to his wife {"Yes. --Dave, "unbiasedly", by the way, means you don't automatically assume the man is right, or even give him 'the benefit of the doubt', and you don't scream about how this could ruin his career if it's true either; you treat the accusation(s) seriously and INVESTIGATE. Political theatre is not an investigation; it's a hearing. Kavanaugh asked for a hearing, not an investigation, to start with. Sheesh.

Just like President Clinton couldn't control himself and lied under oath about Monica Lewinsky because he was so angry his private sex life was part of an official investigation. That was a big deal for Kavanaugh 17+ years ago when he was part of Ken Starr's team.

Correct! Anytime someone cries that they were wronged, the "company" believes the one claiming victim over logic. It's been happening for decades.
Kavanaugh says it was legal for seniors to drink when he was in high school, but Maryland's drinking age was raised to 21 when he was 17
Yes, in 1977.
Way TO Go!! Thank you for keeping it Real💗💗💗💐
I would be mad as hell too if my parents named me Lindsey.

Thanks Colbert. I spit my coffee when you said "one mans blackout another mans street nap" hahaha
Did u know If u scream loud enough no body can hear the guilt😉
Kavanaugh went to trump university.
Kavanaugh went to trump university to learn that.
Someone start a research on this claim. We should hire Dr. Ford. She seems to know her science!
Kavanaugh also went to trump university to unlearn a whole ton of common sense and morals while he was at it.
The leftists protesters should know, they screech all the time, i.e. the initial hearings
"I fear for the future." "Hashtag, Me Too." - This is why Stephen Colbert is amazing. Well played, sir.
This piece itself is worth an emmy... comedy gold and fantastic commentary !
See what happens when you let Graham have a mint julep at lunch? It gives him the vapors!
They just just help him relax and be his amicable self. Too bad they don't help finding that long-lost moral compass. Hypocrite stood and held eulogy over a true hero just a few weeks ago. SHAME.
OP is awesome, but replies are also classic
Tom Scott I'm the first to admit that the replies are often better than anything I type.
Lindsey always did prefer his pleasure up his heinie
LOL
That smug little smirk on Kavanaugh's face when Graham was having his fit made my blood boil. Nothing about how Kavanaugh acted yesterday said anything positive about his character. He was defiant, smug, disrespectful, agressive - which was a complete flip from his little dry-eyed, sniffling sad-angry speech he started with (where he made clear who he felt was the real victim in all of this). And on top of all that, I don't think he once gave a straight answer to simple yes/no questions asked by any of the Democratic senators. Even if I didn't believe he assaulted Dr. Ford, nothing in his temperment or character that was on display yesterday makes me feel he is in any way, shape, or form fit to serve as a bipartison, reasoned voice on the highest court of the land.
too bad. He's gonna' be on the supreme court. Say good bye to your abortions.
👏👏👏👏👏
How would you respond if someone was trying to ruin your lie with no evidence?
I think he was trying for a wounded face, but he couldn't quite pull it off.
you need to have you head checked and understand why men make you blood boil. its' your issue , not his.
It is weird that all this madness has been normalised but the moment you see a sane person talk, you immediately remember the disaster we are all in. I don't know whether I should feel sorry for normalising the madness or be reassured that we still have enough sanity left to recognise the stark comparison between sane and an insane malicious moron.
#MeToo was the best pun I've ever heard of.
“Please, save your indignation that finally someone is taking one woman’s accusation of sexual assault seriously.” THIS CLOSING LINE 👏
Behold the sexist. Believe women, men are liars. The left everyone. If you're a man with an actual legit penis that wasn't built by doctors and you vote left, you're a woman.
Zen “I mad at Democrats because they not like rapist 😡😡”
Zen Man, that'd make about 80% of the US female! You might actually have a shot then, Zen! That is...assuming that your fixation with dicks doesn't transcend into closeted homosexuality?
I agree. that was very well said.
of course ford is lying. that's why she subjected herself to all this ridicule, all these threats, all these attacks, all this stress and all this accusatory scrutiny. she's a glutton for punishment. the trouble is too many people care more about the political positions taken by govt officials than their character. trump supporters are a PERFECT example. when they're willing to overlook the predatory character of the idiot they want for president simply because he claimed to support conservative issues. ITS TIME WE PUT PERSONAL CHARACTER OVER POLITICAL POSITIONS! ford is a HERO - a whistle blower that deserves our respect and support. WE DON'T NEED YET ANOTHER SEXUAL PREDATOR IN OUR GOVT OR AS THE HEADS OF OUR PRIVATE SECTOR!
That last statement was POWERFUL!!!!!
I Love Stephen Colbert!!!!! #MeToo
It was indeed powerful, and spot on. Though I can't help but think that, if they were really taking her accusation seriously, they would have launched an FBI investigation, instead of just having her speak at his 'job interview' (to quote Feinstein).
DrBraxy Gilkey Absolutely!
Stephen Colbert surpasses many journalists, absolutely fantastically conveyed !!!!
I have huge respect for Stephen Colbert!
The statements of those Republican senators and Mr Kavanaugh should be enough to merit a definitive NO vote. Perhaps even an FBI investigation of Kavanaugh's career and rulings to date.
Damn, Stephen! That last part shaming Republicans for sticking with Sexual Assaulter in Chief to get the court made the hair on my neck stand up! Preach!!!! (Also, that Syrah boofing bit was hilarious) What a horrible day today was. Viscerally exhausting. I can only think of all the women (and men) who have been assaulted who never reported or got justice. We are with you.
VianneyCreates well said! I was impressed by Stephen’s last statement as well!
VianneyCreates HERE!! HERE!!🤓
Same here!
VianneyCreates Thats papa Stephen!
He mentioned Shiraz, not Syrah.... And yes, that was a pretty impassioned and on point closing condemnation of the reprehensible and cynical abdication of their civic duty by the Republicans
He DOES seem to have a fixation with beer, too, doesn't he??
Eeeeeeesh. Way to come off as NOT someone who’s a violent, over-privileged, good ol’ boy sexual predator. I’m just glad I wasn’t in that room during this. He sounds terrifying.
That rant really scared me. Sir, that's not how you defend yourself. Kavanaugh, you are a judge!!
right? How can he not know how it looks like?
Here's a mad idea? How about appointing supreme court judges that don't have an overt political bias. Surely any fair and good legal system needs to be free from political interference?
With that opinion, I'm betting you are not American, lol.
and then do not appoint those juges for life....
@@francoisdupuis4510 And one term only, no re-election.
But that would make sense and then both sides couldn’t complain about each other. How dare you be so sensible and think of the people rather than yourself, get off the internet.
Well done Stephen. Thank you for showing YOUR decent manhood by that last line delivered. Liar's get angry don't they? Look who was angry folks.

falsly accused people get angry, too
@@hsdjsdshdhsdnsmsd6247 if Stephen Colbert is the standard for what a real man is then holy shit
He's crying because his wife is sitting behind him, " He's fear for the future " because he can't imagine what will she do to him after all this over with.
Crying in this manner is actually a form of rage. People keep saying there is no evidence...well there is and it's what led the ABA and Yale Law School to come out and urge for a investigation. And that is his behavior. Best way to explain it is two police show up at a liquor store that just got robbed. When they arrived there is a person walking down the street when the person sees the cops coming toward them they start to run. Cops begin to chase him. Why?There's no proof he did it but his behavior leads cops to believe he may be involved.
The ABA and Yale being pinnacles of law prestige asked for a hearing because based on his behavior there may be something to
g the claims soley based on his testimony.
Ronnie.....now she knows why his empty bottles smell like shit
Sadly his wife will publicly support him to the end. It's what abuser's partners do because they are essentially isolated and trained that the abuser's behavior is normal and they can't live without the abuser. Can you imagine the bullying she gets at home?? She can't possibly agree with everything he does and says over the years, and I can imagine him attacking her verbally and emotionally just like he did the Committee. She'd get worn down and back away at best. If he can't even give the Senators respect, you know he lets his hair down at home and is even worse.
@@colormebrave2231 That's it. I wondered why his crying didn't seem to follow what he was talking about but crying from rage? Oh, yes, that fits.
@@christine4223 i work in the Violent Crimes Division ( leaving my employers name.out ) and listening to him I dont.know if he did or he didn't but he's on the same street as the liquor store that just got robbed notices the cops and starts running...his rage and his disdain is palpable
Tell Lindsey that Justices Sotomayor and Kagan were not accused of sexual assault.
Immoral behavior? Like sleeping with a porn star while your wife just gave birth? Bragging about sexual assaults? LMAO. Repubs have zero leg to stand on talking about family values and ethics.
Republicans didn't even give Merrick Garland a courtesy hearing in his nomination to the US supreme court and continued to block confirmation proceedings for about nine months which inflicted irreparable damage on the pillars of American democracy. I could continue giving examples of Republicans hypocrisy with statements and videos that show that the GOP representatives put their own and party interests before that of the United States citizens, but why waste my time? I am not going to convince you to see the facts.
He is too busy being an indignant southern male hypocrite to have any recollection about facts.
and all of a sudden "accused" has as much weight as "guilty of"
@@jonathontaylor9574 well then why don't we, I donno, investigate further to see if the accusations are true?
I was 14, it was 1962...High School. Behind a locked door, a female teacher behaved inappropriately toward me, suddenly climbing into my lap, acting seductively....caressing my face (WTF...!!??).Being a shy teenaged girl back then, I thought I had somehow brought on her bizarre behavior, that I was actually the cause. (A common self-blaming response - when a younger person is victimized this way) I clearly remember trying to tell my mother about it, but she didn't believe me; mom was involved in her own marital turmoil. I sensed, pronto that I should simply shut up. I tried a second time, same reaction. I did not speak again of the incident, since I understood even then, the way this information would likely be received. Years later, visiting my former school (I was 35 or so)... I heard: that teacher had committed suicide. Now I look back, I realize she was a deeply troubled woman. All the same I wonder: how many other vulnerable students she may have done this to? (We can never know) I am now 70. And whenever I read or hear of someone coming forward with an accusation of a past sexual assault...and others smugly sneer.. asking, "So, hey... how come you DIDN"T YOU REPORT IT AT THE TIME?" It just makes me want to scream!!
Cynthia Hawkins thank you for sharing this.
Cool story, bro.
I'm an advocate for treating abuse crimes differently from other criminal behaviour like theft and conspiracy. Abuse comes with victim shame, and that shame is more powerful than anyone who hasn't experienced it can imagine. The norm is for victims to keep quiet for long periods of time, even for life, and to act as if that proves the victim is lying is ludicrous. We wouldn't need to do this if victim blame, the other half of the awful equation, would die, but it hasn't yet and I doubt it will. So different expectations need to be written for victims. This "report it like a mugging" idea is bullshit. Muggings don't rip your entire existence apart and traumatize you in the same way, destroying your future, haunting you. I'm sorry that happened to you. And I'm sorry your mother wouldn't listen.
@@halshepherd2486 You're trash.
Cynthia Hawkins oh but women dont rape. Sorry.
I couldn’t love Colbert more if I tried 💕💕💕🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
The only upside to Colbert is that he is not as awefull as John Oliver.
Try harder.
Megan Norlund Same here!
Drinking game: watch the hearing and take a drink every time Brett says, “Beer”.
Kavanaugh says (@ about 2:10 in video) "...fear for the future", and Stephen's rejoinder was "#METOO"! Too good.
Kavanaugh's speech sounds a lot likeTrump dictated it.
I wouldnt trust Kavanaugh to run a traffic court.
Based off what evidence? What has he done wrong?
I bet his record is better than yours
Okay. What has he done wrong? Based on what evidence? The FBI obviously didn’t find anything. Why would they find anything? Of course your not going to reply because just like any other Liberal Democrat you are not going to have info to back it up. So if your confident enough to reply, go ahead.
There are many times that our comedians have surpassed our journalists and Stephen Colbert has been a gem over the last few years.
Are you talking about this turkey? You must be joking, he’s one of the most biased people on tv!
Old Miss whoopi pie said she was going to leave also. Liars!
I'm getting the impression that he might have had a beer at some point.
Fun Fact - after the hearing, Brett disappeared into a room and shotgunned three beers.
For real?
He's a serial moonshine boofer!
Barbara Lindhjem I can neither confirm nor deny. 🍺🍺🍺 😵
He might have had a hose attached under the desk for some secret boofing throughout the hearing.
Or retired to his chambers and took it up the arse. Boofing.
Many cheers, Colbert. Thank you for the ending especially. At least someone takes it seriously.
As for Kavanaugh, he couldn't keep his composure during a job interview. How can he be trusted to be unemotional, neutral and objective as a Supreme Court Justice? He does not have the temperament appropriate for a Supreme Court Justice, or a lower court judge for that matter. The U.S Supreme Court is the highest court in the land. And it's a lifetime appointment. With doubts about him as much as he's reinforced going in, someone else should be nominated.
Sounds like Kavanaugh graduated from Trump University..... Sure talks that way...
Try listening to his opening statement uncut and in full (it's available right here on youtube in various channels). You might be surprised to find that, in proper context, his entire opening statement, its structure and its content, is very well crafted and compelling. The headlines and the presentations from comedian hacks like Colbert would like for you to believe their presentation of reality is the literal truth, yet it's anything but.
I listened to it uncut the first time and was completely astonished that he couldn't quit saying beer and get his point across in the manner of Gertrude Stein at a keg party.
Hmmm calling Stephen Colbert a hack is pretty questionable. He's been proven for a long time to be a master at comedic craft. I guess if you don't agree with him, he's a hack? That's not how it works.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for an argument, but.... if you think that Colbert is a hack, why do you watch his video? I personally think that Kavanaugh is a hack, so I don't want to spend any time on watching his opening statement....
On the other hand, I think that Colbert has more understanding of politics and of what is going on in the world right now, than Kavanaugh and the whole Trump family put together.... On top of that... I think that he's also more articulate, honest and definitely more funny..... but that just my 2 cents.....
Looks like he just might be confirmed this Saturday :)
And then someone giggled and said "Lindsey's a girls" name and all of senator graham's fire was suddenly extinguished as his mind flashed back to middle school

HAHAHAS OUT LOUD! Gracias, Amy! 😆
Omg! His body language, voice tone, and stammer gave him away. Look at how nervous the question made him. All he had to say was yes or no!

Oh yeah, Stephen. Your closing sentence is very accurate.
Honestly. Kavanaugh’s defensive posture when being questioned was so obvious as well. He was curling in in himself. That’s not someone with righteous indignation. That’s a guy who knows he’s guilty.
Not to mention the covered up smiles of recollection when asked how much he drank.

As a 28 yr old Democrat from South Carolina I feel the need to say Lindsey Graham is sadly the best you can hope for from my state. I've voted for him in the past since he was one of the better, sane Republicans. I feel personally disappointed and humiliated that he behaved like that before the eyes of the world. Mitch McConnell has repeatedly violated 2 centuries of precedent in the United States Senate and he couldn't have cared less. These men do not respect the fundamental ideal of liberal democracy in the western world. The sheer fact that it's necessary for me to say that about my own country... THE f***ing UNITED STATES! -- is beyond demoralizing.
