All of a sudden the Republicans love the FBI, if you remember, just prior to this they said that the FBI is a bunch of liars and not credible.
So which is it? This whole investigation smells of a sham, kind of seems like the FBI is working towards what the president wants, for their own sanity, as well as being directed as to what to look at, and what not to look at, considering the amount of witnesses that were not even interviewed. Any investigator, myself included for 31 years, knows , that you search all leads to arrive at a logical and factual conclusion. None of this, this whole thing just stinks.

You realize the exact same thing can be said about Democrats, right? Like literally the same thing.
Because the FBI investigation didn't go the way they wanted it to go, suddenly it isn't worth a shit. But when the FBI is showing all kinds of evidence to support Russian collusion, Democrats say" The system works! Aren't the FBI amazing?"

@@SkotKozB5 - The difference is that the FBI that running the Russia investigation is
      A. Has a conservative director (aka he's one of the Republicans own), so the evidence against their own party reveals a lack of bias
      B. No restricted timeframe, nor do they have to deal with restricted limits on witnesses
      C. The evidence is substantial bc the interviews of this investigation were lengthy & thorough
^compare that to only a 5 day investigation that had limits on how many & who can be interviewed---even excluding interviews of the main parties involved: Ford and Kavanaugh! So it's reasonable to find it insufficient. I'm not a Democrat, and even I can see that. It was lazy, sloppy, and way too restricted. It was just put on for show and done in such a way that nothing can be gleaned from it, just so that the confirmation can move forward. This whole thing was a sham on both sides, but moreso on the Republicans end. Especially bc they had a huge list of conservative nominees to go with, and instead they chose to go with Kavanaugh, who is as slimy and vindictive as they come.

And if I recall, the week time limit was set during the hearing. And they finished in 6 days.
Not good enough though. When it took less time to investigate Anthony Weiner, no one said anything but now that it's Kavanaugh there's a problem? Right.

@CanadianLoki76 Once again I have a hard time being sure if someone on the internet is just that ignorant or just trolling. Saje was very clearly implying that the Republican senator finally caving and calling for an FBI investigation (while making sure it was limited past the point of usefulness) is effectively the same as a murderer who joins in the search for the body to throw off suspicion. They don't actually want anything to be found. A more apt simile might have been a murderer who publicly calls for police investigation into the murder while sabotaging that investigation behind the scenes, but in either case I don't get how you can come to the conclusion you did without some willful ignorance.

This "innocent till proven guilty" argument by republicans and trump doesn't apply here. We aren't trying to jail Kav (unless the evidence would inspire a prosecutor and is criminal). We are making sure the proper people get put on the highest court for decades, ultimately deciding this country's destiny. That's what we are doing. We the people cannot vote them out once they are in. They are to be held to a higher standard than just about any other human being on earth.

Rob C - okay interesting. I'm actually a non-white STEM professional but a secret Trumptard if you will. Trump is cathartic. He is the opposite of the extremely controlled PC crowd that i am surrounded by on a daily basis, who i actually like but just wish were more open minded. I long for people to simply say what's on their mind whatever their creed, race or lifestyle may be, so that honest discussions can be had and long term solutions can be reached. Logic does not work with the libtards. Fire needs to be fought with fire. Trumptards do come with a variety of political affiliations but i'd say disillusionment is our most commonly shared trait.

Perhaps. But now that the Kavanuagh topic is over, I'm curious how Colbert plans to maintain his two year old propaganda machine:
      1. Maybe he shifts his focus back to Melania? He attacks her recent trip to Africa, mocks her accent, criticizes her clothes and questions her motives. Exactly like he did a few months ago... for a full monologue. Hey, it worked then why not double down!
      2. He goes back to the Russia investigation. Evil Russia's ties to Trump is always a good go-to for jokes. He mentions Putin as much as possible, maybe sprinkles in some North Korea jokes, and the uninformed will eat it up!
      3. He brings back the 'Stormy Watch'. Yet he still manages to keep Bill Clinton out of his jokes...even though he knows literally everyone's thinking it.
      4. Since the midterms are just around the corner, he starts a whole new batch of anti-Trump and anti-Republican conspiracy theories. He knows most of his fans will believe anything he says and take it as news.
      5. Or, he simply comes up with more mass propaganda and lies-by-omission (cleverly disguised as satire) to spread unreasonable fear the sky is falling. He knows the Democrats can't win elections without ignorance and unreasonable fear.
Or maybe all of the above?

Mine wouldn’t. My partner would know who is telling the truth and so would my children by my words and reaction. If for some reason they were not satisfied (partners do lie), I would bring forward whatever evidence or witnesses necessary to show them the truth.
