As a runner who is training for a marathon, these foam rollers ruclips.net/user/postUgkx9XSsjzA4f84VmhBCHlyhec7XILIxennL are really good for sore and tight muscles. This one is a good size (mine is the purple, 36 inches) not too big but big enough to work and roll both my legs at the same time - I took a photo holding the roller next to me just to provide a better representation of its size. I noticed some reviewers who complained that this is, “just a foam noodle”… and yes, that’s exactly what it is. It’s a high density foam roller. It is absolutely NOT the same consistency/strength/durability/ or texture as a ‘pool noodle’ thought and I disagree entirely with those that say so. As a former collegiate athlete and marathon runner, I’m comfortably giving this roller 5 stars. It’s lightweight and durable and does just what I need it to do at a budget-friendly price. Overall, I have no complaints and am happy with it!

Brilliant, thank you! As a 68 year old pilates teacher and ex-dancer, I've used and abused my body a lot! I did this with a longer roller that supports my head and full length of my spine. I used a 'magic ring' circle for the SI section. You might getting a shivering or trembling on the adductor squeeze, this is just tension releasing from the pelvis and a good thing. Thank you so much for this video, it's terrific!

Pain stays away for two days instead of mere hours. Doing these from now on, hope I get to a point where they’re only for maintenance and not to find relief.

@@DrRowe I'm so amazed!😍💐... I have certain areas that came back within an hour, but I have areas that STILL have not tightened back up. Simply amazing, I'm still amazed. The therapist i was sent to only showed me the "looking at armpit" stretch. It did very little. I was told in 2003 i would need surgery. I said no for many reasons. It never seems to be "the fix". I've been tense, extremely most days so bad i bite my tongue without knowing it. My tongue has dents on both sides of it now. That was getting so tiring. Thank you so much, i am going to start learning tai Chi to help open some areas up. Combined with your isometric stretches, i think I'm going to be alright now. That feels good. You've done more for me than all the docs and all the medicine in the world. I felt like it was aging me before my time. Thank you for giving me some life back👑💐💖🙏

@@ludwigkostmann4278 In the end i started with my legs on the floor rather than in the air, I am carrying a bit of weight around my middle so was squashing that more than hitting the spine. Leaning backwards at 45 degrees and moving back and forth I eventually got there. After a week of doing this daily I would say it is my upper and middle back that usually clunks as vertebrae are release, my lower back seems to be ok now. But this routine has changed my life. Oh man this is great! I've been doing my own version of this in between chiropractic visits to keep my upper back, shoulders, and neck loose. I found these stretches/adjustments on my own just by feel. Now it's just second nature for me to do the back and full Nelson moves every night or at least a few times a week. It's helped me not need adjusting so often, but I tell others and they can't feel it. Will be nice to be able to share this with them and work on the other areas of the body you've shown. Thanks!

I adjust it to sleep as needed based on my pain... Legs up, flat, or folded in half if I have to. Highly recommend for chronic back pain and trouble sleeping. I would wake up STUCK in bed and not be able to even lift myself up bc it felt like my back was going to break in half if I moved the slightest bit. No more. Pain during the day, yes... For me, this was the most useful foam roller exercise video I’ve found after reviewing so many. I have problems with my entire back. I can click on it and go back and start right in on the exercises each time without listening to (useful but lengthy) explanations every time. Also it shows variations on how to turn to get more relief. Also I did not know before that I wasn’t supposed to put in the foam roller horizontally across my lower spine. Maybe a good thing I know this now considering some issues I have there.

Hey Dr.Rowe. Just wanted to let you know that yesterday I felt my back (lower) do during a light dumbbell single leg deadlift.
Needless to say there was immediate discomfort, tightness in the area, stabbing pain when sat for too long. It feels identical but unilaterally opposed to another disk slip I had 3 years ago, so I'm chalking it up to that.
I'm confident that the mobility work and exercises I used last time (it was much more severe and healed in time) will take care of it.
However, I'm also giving these a go for good measure.
I've done the full routine and especially that lateral roll in the lumbar/sacral region that hits the QL muscle was a dream. I'm feeling great, so I thought you should know you helped!

For the lower back segment (starting a 7:40) it would be worthwhile adding a caution not to come over too much to the side as it can cause an injury to the ribs. This happened to me, I accidentally rolled too much to the side, over the rib, and I felt a sharp pinch and now I seem to have some type of rib injury (not diagnosed as such, but I have pain in the rib).
