i could cry, ive been suffering from fibromyalgia and issues with my connective tissue for years, in so much pain some days i can barely walk, only at age 25. i thought my life was over. i never thought a foam roller and an instructional video could help so so much... thank you, so much
I've had pain in my lower back for months. Been doing yoga stretches, Pilates, massage and chiropractic adjustments. Nothing has helped so far except, finally, these stretches. I'm so happy. Thank you!
As a runner who is training for a marathon, these foam rollers ruclips.net/user/postUgkx9XSsjzA4f84VmhBCHlyhec7XILIxennL are really good for sore and tight muscles. This one is a good size (mine is the purple, 36 inches) not too big but big enough to work and roll both my legs at the same time - I took a photo holding the roller next to me just to provide a better representation of its size. I noticed some reviewers who complained that this is, “just a foam noodle”… and yes, that’s exactly what it is. It’s a high density foam roller. It is absolutely NOT the same consistency/strength/durability/ or texture as a ‘pool noodle’ thought and I disagree entirely with those that say so. As a former collegiate athlete and marathon runner, I’m comfortably giving this roller 5 stars. It’s lightweight and durable and does just what I need it to do at a budget-friendly price. Overall, I have no complaints and am happy with it!
I've been seeing chiropractors for years and none of them have ever cared to teach me self-mobilizing/releasing exercises. This is life-changing! Thank you.
Brilliant, thank you! As a 68 year old pilates teacher and ex-dancer, I've used and abused my body a lot! I did this with a longer roller that supports my head and full length of my spine. I used a 'magic ring' circle for the SI section. You might getting a shivering or trembling on the adductor squeeze, this is just tension releasing from the pelvis and a good thing. Thank you so much for this video, it's terrific!
I’m 42 & pretty much 1/2 ass learned/self taught myself all these moves over the years, have been VERY physically active my whole life but always felt like I was more prone to back/joint pain than others- turns out I have ankylosing spondylitis & I have to do this 2-3x a day to help offset spinal fusion- but can 1000% attest these moves work
i suffer from Fascioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (or FSHD for short) and these simple stretches have helped relieve so much pain in my upper back. i truly thank you for making these videos
I watch your videos as soon as they come out, and immediately try everything you suggest. You are doing the LAWDS work, cause man....ive about had it with feeling how im feeling, something has to change.
Actually can’t believe it. Did the excercise on foam roller 1st time, after years of back pain. It feels about 60% better. Going to do every day. Worth it.

Holy crap. I just got a foam roller a month ago and had no idea how to use it properly. Had insane back pain today and with a 5 year old son always wanting me to pick him up, it was not fun. Looked and found your video, 10 minutes later I am SO much better. Once he goes to bed I’m coming back to learn the whole video! Only got to the shoulder blades part but WOW! I feel so much better.

Holy cow, my upper back cracked so much doing this. Such a relief! I have been sitting a lot the last few weeks studying for my approbation and unfortunately a covid infection completely destroyed my workout routine, so I had built up a lot of tension. Thank you so so much for sharing this video with us! It helped a lot!
I’ve spent almost 2 months going to a PT twice a week and my assigned PT for home with virtually ZERO relief (any relief was temporary and the pain returned the same day) and then I find you 2 days ago and finally get instant relief with much better results. Pain stays away for two days instead of mere hours. Doing these from now on, hope I get to a point where they’re only for maintenance and not to find relief. Thank you so much.
My right trap and shoulder have been bugging me for years, I'm 50 now. After a day of sitting at the computer at work, it's almost burning it's so irritated and tight. This REALLY makes it feel better, almost instantly. Definitely going to keep this in my arsenal! Thanks Dr. Rowe!
These are the best stretches. I have never seen these. I have chronic back pain every day. Already I did one of each stretch and I feel better already. Thank you.
I was crying of back and neck pain .. with no money on my pockets for a chiropractor I turn to RUclips and type in methods to release back pain and boom !! He was the one ... I done it for 2 nights now and my pain is going away with this amazing stretchings.. they are challenging but helping me alot ..
@@DrRowe I'm so amazed!😍💐... I have certain areas that came back within an hour, but I have areas that STILL have not tightened back up. Simply amazing, I'm still amazed. The therapist i was sent to only showed me the "looking at armpit" stretch. It did very little. I was told in 2003 i would need surgery. I said no for many reasons. It never seems to be "the fix". I've been tense, extremely most days so bad i bite my tongue without knowing it. My tongue has dents on both sides of it now. That was getting so tiring. Thank you so much, i am going to start learning tai Chi to help open some areas up. Combined with your isometric stretches, i think I'm going to be alright now. That feels good. You've done more for me than all the docs and all the medicine in the world. I felt like it was aging me before my time. Thank you for giving me some life back👑💐💖🙏
Dr. Rowe, simply brilliant foam roller utilization. I'd prefer a 36" roller especially for # 3 where the roller would rest on the spine down to the tailbone and up to the lower neck. I found foam rolling an essential warm up and/or an exercise all to itself on off days. Thank you for sharing these ingenious moves!

I have ankylosing spondylitis and 2 weeks ago i started using the foam roller, i can say after using 2 or 3 times my mobility is much better and my pain is going away i don´t feel like this in years.
I had shoulder blade tension after chest day, tried pilates and stretches specifically for woman seeing as our anatomy are quite different, than stumbled on this, and it worked ! 💪 thanks.
took me a few tries to get that lower back one right, but as soon as I did I knew it.. a few minor twinges as I went back and forth and then felt much looser. will be incorporating this into my morning stretches !! thank you for the video.
@@ludwigkostmann4278 In the end i started with my legs on the floor rather than in the air, I am carrying a bit of weight around my middle so was squashing that more than hitting the spine. Leaning backwards at 45 degrees and moving back and forth I eventually got there. After a week of doing this daily I would say it is my upper and middle back that usually clunks as vertebrae are release, my lower back seems to be ok now. But this routine has changed my life. I am so grateful to Dr Rowe. I wish I knew this years ago.
@@DrRowe Honestly, this has changed my life. I now know what a "loose" spine feels like, when it isn't and how to fix it. As a result I am liberated. Thank you so much for this.

Oh man this is great! I've been doing my own version of this in between chiropractic visits to keep my upper back, shoulders, and neck loose. I found these stretches/adjustments on my own just by feel. Now it's just second nature for me to do the back and full Nelson moves every night or at least a few times a week. It's helped me not need adjusting so often, but I tell others and they can't feel it. Will be nice to be able to share this with them and work on the other areas of the body you've shown. Thanks!
I wish I saw this video in college. I spent years foam rolling incorrectly and it resulted in some injury , so badly that I stopped squatting for a few years. Im back at it , and this video was so helpful. Kudos to you for this much needed video.
I pulled out my lower back yesterday, I did the exercise you showed. At first I could not do it- could not get the roll under my lower back. I did the motion side to side without it then was able to do it with the roller- I feel much better now. Thanks for posting the video.
I'm a little late but congrats on 1 mil subs man! Great to see informative videos getting the respect they deserve and people watching content that betters there body.
WOW!!!! just tried the rollers on my lower back where i have a lot of tension and pain and surprisingly i felt an instant relief. thank you for this simple yet very effective exercises.
got the most satisfying crack in my mid back . i have never been able to crack that area before and it was so beyond tight because i was training to do more pull ups and injured myself pretty badly. My neck and upper traps area have been in constant pain ever since.. This seriously loosened everything up. I feel so much better.
It feels so hard doing any of these and the pain is really high BUT at the end I feel so much better!! Thank you, must make time to do this more regularly! It’s been 2 years now since my back pain started and I’m sick and tired of having it! 😭
@@AlexHernandez-gn6rd same. I have severe scoliosis and hurt standing, sitting, sleeping, 24/7. In March, I finally caved and got a Tempurpedic bed.... Best purchase ever! I adjust it to sleep as needed based on my pain... Legs up, flat, or folded in half if I have to. Highly recommend for chronic back pain and trouble sleeping. I would wake up STUCK in bed and not be able to even lift myself up bc it felt like my back was going to break in half if I moved the slightest bit. No more. Pain during the day, yes... But not at night anymore.
For me, this was the most useful foam roller exercise video I’ve found after reviewing so many. I have problems with my entire back. I can click on it and go back and start right in on the exercises each time without listening to (useful but lengthy) explanations every time. Also it shows variations on how to turn to get more relief. Also I did not know before that I wasn’t supposed to put in the foam roller horizontally across my lower spine. Maybe a good thing I know this now considering some issues I have there.
great video. I've been using a roller for a while which has helped a lot but this video took the stretching to the next level. Thank you for the share :)
Hey Dr.Rowe. Just wanted to let you know that yesterday I felt my back (lower) do during a light dumbbell single leg deadlift. Needless to say there was immediate discomfort, tightness in the area, stabbing pain when sat for too long. It feels identical but unilaterally opposed to another disk slip I had 3 years ago, so I'm chalking it up to that. I'm confident that the mobility work and exercises I used last time (it was much more severe and healed in time) will take care of it. However, I'm also giving these a go for good measure. I've done the full routine and especially that lateral roll in the lumbar/sacral region that hits the QL muscle was a dream. I'm feeling great, so I thought you should know you helped!
Tried this with a lot of hesitation, very glad I did thank you, I have worked in the oilfield all my life this makes me feel amazing thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Bro I’ve been having lower back pain for around a month now and nothing was working. It was seriously nasty but then I found this video. Oh mah god. It feels SO much better. Very much recommend

How to alleviate a pinched nerve on neck or pinched nerve near the scapula. Only asking because your videos really make a big difference! Thanks for sharing your knowledge:)
For the lower back segment (starting a 7:40) it would be worthwhile adding a caution not to come over too much to the side as it can cause an injury to the ribs. This happened to me, I accidentally rolled too much to the side, over the rib, and I felt a sharp pinch and now I seem to have some type of rib injury (not diagnosed as such, but I have pain in the rib).
Thank you so much for this . Your videos are the best. I have been dealing with SI/Lower back pain for a year, and these stretches make it way more tolerable.
Thank you very much. It was one of the most important and life changing videos I have ever seen on RUclips. I had back pain since months and today after the exercise the pain is completely gone :). Worked like magic for me

Thanks!
Thanks so much for watching!
Fe😅l pop😊
I wish I saw this video in college. I spent years foam rolling incorrectly and it resulted in some injury , so badly that I stopped squatting for a few years. Im back at it , and this video was so helpful. Kudos to you for this much needed video.
Glad you found the video, and I hope the exercises help for a long time to come!
I pulled out my lower back yesterday, I did the exercise you showed. At first I could not do it- could not get the roll under my lower back. I did the motion side to side without it then was able to do it with the roller- I feel much better now. Thanks for posting the video.
Glad the exercises are working, and thanks for watching!
I can't wait to follow your directions. OMG they look so helpful

got the most satisfying crack in my mid back . i have never been able to crack that area before and it was so beyond tight because i was training to do more pull ups and injured myself pretty badly. My neck and upper traps area have been in constant pain ever since.. This seriously loosened everything up. I feel so much better.
Glad to hear the exercises are helping, and thanks for watching!
It feels so hard doing any of these and the pain is really high BUT at the end I feel so much better!! Thank you, must make time to do this more regularly! It’s been 2 years now since my back pain started and I’m sick and tired of having it! 😭
Thanks so much for watching!
I understand your frustrations i wake up with my back locked. Bring me to tears when that happens at 2am and it wakes me up from sleep.
@@leahbia82 Which tempurpedic did you get? I know they can be pricey. But I’m considering one. My back pain is throbbing.
@@leahbia82pleaaase tell me the name of it, i want to buy it
For me, this was the most useful foam roller exercise video I’ve found after reviewing so many.
Glad you found the video, and I hope the exercises help for a long time to come!
Ahhhh another 3 am video. Good to see you, fellas.
Get some sleep!
no no no i should be sleeping.........😭
Great instruction for the foam roller. Really worked well for me.
great video. I've been using a roller for a while which has helped a lot but this video took the stretching to the next level.
Thank you for the share :)
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Dr Rowe. Another great treatment video. My back is feeling so much better.
GREAT to hear! Thanks for watching too.
Glad the exercises are helping, and please give us an update in the near future. Thanks for watching!
Wow. Your explanations could not be any clearer. Fantastic. Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching!

@Alfonso Lionel Why would you even want to do that?
I have sciatica and omgosh the lower back exercises completely relax the area that gives me pain
Lol this is how I put my ribs back into place after MMA training
I will be ordering this roller and I will be following this video because I need this soooo badly.
Hope the exercises help!
Thank you so much for this . Your videos are the best. I have been dealing with SI/Lower back pain for a year, and these stretches make it way more tolerable.
