For a year I've not been able to walk any great length of distance, and even around the house I have needed to take regular breaks from standing as my sciatic pain becomes unbearable after only a couple of minutes. After a recent flare up of lower back pain and immobility, I found your channel, and this video, and I started doing the suggested exercises over for the last three days. The transformation in my ability to walk and be balanced is remarkable. I've got from struggling to find a position to sit/lie/stand in without pain to being able to walk around the house and up and down stairs pain free, and I'm off painkillers and have been able to sleep for the first time in a long time. I cannot thank you enough for making your expert knowledge available and accessible. Thanksgiving evening I was looking at RUclips and your video came on I must say thank you I started doing the exercises truly the pain eased up from my leg. I slept like a baby and shared your video with my cousin to do. When I return to my doctor in December I will tell them how your video helped me and my pain. I'm learning SO much. NO PT session anywhere has ever taught me this much. In fact, they teach you nothing - they just tell you what to do, walk away and go eat donuts in the breakroom. I hated going to PT / but I LOVE THIS!
i agree my pt send you to there assistant pt and then you get different one and most of the time the assistant is nothing more than a gym teacher that does not know jack shit about anything this is what you get with insurance and every once in 4 or 5 weeks you get to talk to the pt i have learned a lot more with david at el paso what to do and not to do its hard to find a good pt when you rely on insurance its like finding a needle in a hay stack there are some good ones out there good luck finding one
I tend to agree! I went to PT for Bursitis in my shoulder. They show you what to do, then when you go home over time you just tend to slack off. Then bam pain is back!😢
EXCELLENT!!!!! I have suffered back pain for years that would come and go and leg cramping on my left leg for years. I tried your stretches and noticed immediate positive effects and will continue on a regular basis to prevent sciatic pain from returning.
Hi Titigirmay, You're welcome! We are so glad you found this information helpful. We are so sorry to see that you're dealing with sciatica pain. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. We wish you all the best in your road to recovery. We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!
Ive been in insane sciatic pain for over a month. Doctor prescribed me heavy pain meds which i refuse to take since they make me feel like a zombie. Doing these exercises for the first time and i can already tell it's providing more relief than just the stretches my PT gave me. Hopefully with consistency I'll see some pain relief soon!

I am in severe pain from sciatica. I cannot stand up. I cannot walk. The pain goes down my leg to my ankle. That first rocking exercise felt so good and worked so well.
I have problems with sciatica and with torn hip labrum. Your videos with all the teaching and explaining are excellent and truly much better than any other videos I saw. A question- I am post hip replacement surgery on both sides. In the last 2 months the right hip got twisted; the MDs were able to put the head into the acetabulum and slowly the pulled ligaments and muscles are healing. Do I need to skip any of the sciatica and torn labrum exercises because I have endoprosthesis?
I suffered for 2 straight weeks and nothing I did seemed to work. Had to use a cane bc I couldnt put my weight on my left leg. In 2 weeks it finally seemed better, don't know why as I tried every exersize and stretch I could find. Dr. David's seem to make so much more sense and I will start doing them tomorrow as a preventative measure bc sciatica is so painful. Don't ever want to go through it again. Thank you.
I had to come back here to tell you that I was down a month with severe nerve pain. I even took a steroid pack. This video is the only thing that has helped me get back to my life. I’m still moving slow but I have nerve relief which is amazing cuz it’s was unbearable. I know with continued practice I’ll be back to normal soon.
I have had sciatica for over 2 year now, i was feeling better then i got factory job, lifting, twisting etc... I then felt worse again. I am now starting on theses exercises as i have tried everything else and i am going to start a desk job all being well. As any other work like standing for long periods of time , lifting etc. seems to flare up the sciatica. I really enjoy running, so am hoping will get back to that in time.
I have a little question for you , how do you feel about doing " Planks " , they are a core strengthening exercise and tighten up the lower torso and buttocks if done correctly ?
I love your teachings. Always so helpful. Thank you. For the last ex I also hang from the top bar for elongating spine, changing my hand hold between prone and neutral. I’m curtailed right now due d/t first of two part spinal surgery where he went in sideways from glute area - yes they and sciatic are pissed off. Part two will happen in 4 days posteriorly through the back. I was in excellent shape going to gym 5-7 days/wk. 🤞🏼to be able to get back to it better than before. ♥️🙏🏼🎶🦋🌺

I have herniated disc l5s1. I find these tucks do so helpful when everyone tells us do do cobra which does nothing for me. I need to do opposite. Tucking and getting routes to fire Thanks
Hi David , have sciatica , 75 yrs old , severely stressed my back a couple yrs ago , finally got better , but stressed out again , causing severe pain. In right hip , heigh & knees , saw your post yesterday about walking up & down steps, stairs , tried the way to walk all day & stretching my legs when at church, pain is so much less , thanks , new way to walk , wife says it looks strange spreading the feet out like that
Hello..67yr old granny here again...I did the exercises you recommended yesterday and will continue hourly, which have helped...but the pain on waking up and sitting on loo sets it off big style at the mo. Any advice please? I sleep on side with pillow in between legs. Pain is in buttock and left leg affecting bladder and 2 middle toes. Thank you so much.

You should stop any exercises if it is painful and start again slowly when you better. Any excercises, which causes pain during or after is not beneficial, but opposite. 😊
Hi dr thankyou for your presentation its good. Am 5months old from back surgery in L4 and L5 lumbar infusion. Should i do these excisises. I have sciatica too.
I broke both wrists and am close to 75% healed but reluctant to place any weight/pressure on my hands/wrists. I’ll try to do modified versions if possible. Really suffering from bilateral sciatic nerve pain throughout the day.
Seems like the best advice have seen. Give a very good explanation of everything you show to do not to do You seem to really know your stuff with sciatica. Do you have any videos that show your recommendation for sciatic nerve Glide
Hey Karen, we have this video of a sciatic nerve glide for someone experiencing pretty severe sciatica: ruclips.net/video/XmlhaHL3_yo/видео.html If this glide is too easy for you and you do not feel it, you can follow all the same steps, but straighten your knee slowly until you feel a stretch. Hope this helps!
Thank you. Yes I do have very severe sciatica. Thank you this is much more simple. Other nerve Glides that I have been shown or have seen on the internet are not as well tolerated by my body
Hi JK, You are welcome! We are excited to hear that this has been beneficial to you.🧡 Sciatica is not a joke, it can be very painful and it has the capacity to linger around for a long time. I'm having very mild sciatica issues after lifting low weights. But I can move so freely. Now I will be doing the abs and glute activation from the next day. Does sciatica also leads to weak pelvic muscles? Currently I'm planning pregnancy. I'm feeling so weak mentally. Does this ever heal completely?
Had debilitating pain and after doing a few reps of these exercises i noticed some of the pain subsided. Ill continue this practice and left you know if the pain conpletly goes away after a few weeks.

they teach you nothing - they just tell you what to do, walk away and go eat donuts in the breakroom. I hated going to PT / but I LOVE THIS!
Agree 100%
I've had the same experience - go ride the stationary bike, then they start chit-chatting with each other while they're manipulating me. So strange.
They put you on a bike, leg crunch or whatever and set a timer When times up they walk you to what they want next Bah!😊
i agree my pt send you to there assistant pt and then you get different one and most of the time the assistant is nothing more than a gym teacher that does not know jack shit about anything this is what you get with insurance and every once in 4 or 5 weeks you get to talk to the pt i have learned a lot more with david at el paso what to do and not to do its hard to find a good pt when you rely on insurance its like finding a needle in a hay stack there are some good ones out there good luck finding one
I tried your stretches and noticed immediate positive effects and will continue on a regular basis to prevent sciatic pain from returning.
i really look forward to trying these out. It looks like just the right formula, instead of all the contradictory advice all over the internet.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help us with our back pain.
Hi Titigirmay, You're welcome! We are so glad you found this information helpful. We are so sorry to see that you're dealing with sciatica pain. The pain can be relentless and we hope you can feel some relief soon. Just in case you're interested, we have a sciatica help playlist you might find helpful. You can access it here:
"Sciatica Pain Exercises & Stretches"

Start with one or two exercises, beginning with the smallest range of motion and the lowest intensity. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. Aim to tire out the muscle without losing form or control. Consistency is key. Always avoid working through pain; soreness and mild discomfort are normal, but pain is not.
We wish you all the best in your road to recovery. We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!
Thank you David I just did the 5 exercises for the first time and it already took away the acute pain I was in👍
Thank you so much Sir, with just doing it two times, I find such relief
I've been feeling much better now that I've found what I need to heal. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise.
Your Videos worked the best for my case of Sciatica. Thank you for sharing!

Same here, had bad pain for a few days, it really helped me.
Yes!!! This is key to sciatica but also to pelvic floor health so win, win!
I am in severe pain from sciatica. I cannot stand up. I cannot walk. The pain goes down my leg to my ankle. That first rocking exercise felt so good and worked so well.
These are excellent exercises, for core strength in g for golf. Awesome. Thank You.
Thank you Doc! You are a blessing to many.. God bless u
Great video! Thanks!
Hi Bonnie, You're welcome! 🧡
Really good and fundamental stuff. My sciatica has been sporadically bloody over the years. No disc L5/S1 over last 32 years not helpful. Thanks man.
Thanks Dr David! I just found three of your awesome back pain videos, which I will surely give attention to!!
Omg the best advice. Already relief. Bad habits changed too helped.
Thank you the pain always sudden and unbearable thank you so much ur videos came like blessings
This helps me a lot, thank you very much
I suffered for 2 straight weeks and nothing I did seemed to work. Thank you.
Woow Woow. I'm healed already just by watching this video. ❤❤❤
I will definitely try these exercises. Thanks.
🙂Thank you doc your videos have been a ton of support of more for mi well being. A great person with a lot of charisma. Blessings.
Your instruction is absolutely correct.
Glad you agree Maria!
Thanks for bringing this very Informative video to us.

The rocking movement was good when in pain, and resting on the back with bendt feet. Had pain for a few days and it starts to feel better now.

Doing these exercises while crying because pain is unbearable 😭
Take painkillers it will realy help from severe pain
Hey Karen, we have this video of a sciatic nerve glide for someone experiencing pretty severe sciatica:
ruclips.net/video/XmlhaHL3_yo/видео.html
If this glide is too easy for you and you do not feel it, you can follow all the same steps, but straighten your knee slowly until you feel a stretch. Hope this helps!
Thank you. Yes I do have very severe sciatica. Thank you this is much more simple. Other nerve Glides that I have been shown or have seen on the internet are not as well tolerated by my body
My healer❤
Thank you! Pretty much what my kine suggested! Awesome.
Thank you. The first exercise is something I naturally tried in hopes of relief.

It really is remarkable how much quackery is out there. Always has been, always will be, and even in the expert medical profession. This man is nothing short of a Godsend.

Amazing! Thank you!
