Ive never heard anyone say, "don't rely on anyone to fix you, learn to fix yourself" Such a powerful statement for me considering for years I've believed that the chiro, physio, massage therapist are the ones that can fix me. Never have i thought that I can actually fix myself. Very intriguing indeed. Thank you for this inspiring message.

I was a real skeptic, but the McKenzie Method works! I have been doing these stretches for about a month now. I have a slipped disc and a bulging disc right above it. These exercises (if you can call them that, they are so easy) have really helped me get my spine settled and the pain gets less every day. Centralization works. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain if it works for you too!
I used Dr Ho's youtube video titled "7 exercises for back pain using the McKenzie Method". Good luck!

This is the best ever seminar for Sciatica. He nailed it with everything he said in this video. My herniated disc has recovered by lying on my stomach and lifting my elbows on the bed every night (the McKenzie post). Also, don't sit too much and always on your feet. I have suffered for the past 4 yrs with back and hip pain, which in the past 4 months has developed into severe sciatic pain traveling down my right leg. I also have numbness and tingling in both legs and feet. I have been to numerous doctors and had spine MRI'S which show disc herniation, stenosis and nerve compression at L4-L5. As the pain in my right leg is intermittent and improves as the day progresses, I am very encouraged by the presentation Dr. Suprun gave. It was easy to understand and made more sense to me than anything I have heard yet! The trick now is finding a PT that practices the McKenzie Method. I live in the Los Angeles suburbs and hope to find one close to home! Thank you for a very informative video!!

Almost daily I am on the Internet looking up exercises, fixes, therapies, medicines or types of food to eat or not eat. while that all of those are explained here this is by far the best explanation and roadmap. I felt like he was literally telling you my story. I have had to nerve conductivity test 3 x-rays two MRIs. The final diagnosis was radiculopathy L5 S1. Wish you all the best in your individual adventures.

He clearly follows this method and only after a few days of doing 15 cobras every 2-3 hours, I'm feeling less and less pain in the activities that used to give me pain (long walks, standing doing dishes, picking up my 1 year old etc.). This is great! It's like a functional medicine approach to back pain.
Also it was extremely interesting to know that despite abnormal findings on MRI correlation does not mean causation. Which explains why many people I know have had surgery and still have pain.
I will be recommending anyone I know experiencing back pain to find a Mackenzie trained therapist.
I'm an RN and have become disillusioned with mainstream medicine in often doesn't accurately find the cause for most conditions, many times it doesn't even look for causes and just treats symptoms.
This was a extremely informative lecture, and great presentation, and has made me become extremely mindful of my posture throughout the day, and understand why I'm always feeling the need to stretch my back and neck.
Now I have a better idea of which stretches to use to reverse the "C" curved posture that we engage in with so many activities.
    Thank you very much! Subscribed.

I, too, am a PT for 25yrs now. COncentrate mainly on the root or exact location location where the pain started. It's not just DOING MASSAGE OR TENS OR PLACING HMP OR A STRETCH. Sometimes, just proper positioning alone for a few minutes, relieves the issue or is already a treatment. then follows other regimens.

Excellent video with easy to understand explanations of how the back functions & how problems arise, escalate or declines. I’ve had cervical & lumbosacral back pain since 2001, due to an injury. I have multiple herniated discs, nerve compression & spinal stenosis. I’ve already had a cervical fusion because I was loosing strength in my upper extremities. I still have pain from the cervical spine, but it’s less than before & my arms & hands regained some strength. Now my lower back is terrible. My hips hurt constantly & the pain down my legs is always there. Unfortunately all I can do is stretching exercises in bed. Walking slowly for 1 block is a taxing effort & im known to fall without warning so I need supervision. I hope this method can help me. There are definitely positions that I put myself into that reduce my pain level.

This was a great informative video! I was injured by a chiropractor two months ago. Could not sit or lie down. With covid, I could not see a doctor. Utubed numerous therapist and the great John Gibbons. Kept hearing McKenizie.....and investigated further. Ordered a book with the exercises and routines, and started. My pain has decreased a lot, but still have some sciatica. Came across this video and was amazed and determined to find a certified therapist, which I found close by to me. I love your honesty about how you injured people, because that is what happens and it is brushed off. Thank you! I agree that back pain, along with many other medical problems are a money machine in the USA. Inject, operate, and push pills.....and it does not help the whole human organism!

I love how he dissected the problem; enabling us to understand stage by stage what is causing the pain and recognising that as individuals what movements of exercise is more suited to for the person to treat the pain. I had a childhood problem/habit I've been doing as a child but I never told anybody about it because I'm embarrassed. The forward movements is the cause of my bulging disc and sciatica which now I can address with confidence with my therapist.

@@shiningdiva_2 I managed to heal mine, after alot of experimentation, you have to create space to allow the disc bulge to retract, so that meant straddling two kitchen work tops, palms on the tops and and lifting my lower torso off the ground (like you were going to a dip), do it as much as possible, as many times a day you can, for as long as you can. (and try and not bend forward during the day) The when you have created some space after a longer worktop lift session go lie on your front for 30 mins to allow the disc to stay there. Then repeat until it goes away. You can also use two chairs to lift you lower torso of ground but be careful, hope this helps. It takes time, once you are starting to get less pain work on your core as could have been the root of why you got injured in the first place. Hope that helps.

Excellent! I am almost 70, and very recently started getting lower back pain, mostly after sitting even for a few minutes. I tried n experiment during the last 20 minutes of the video. I sat very straight, and put a pillow on my lower back to push my spine forward. When I got up, I had little back pain! I live near Chicago and I will look into a McKenzie Institute. Thank you.

I've had Two L4-s1 discectomies, at ages 19 and 24. it's been almost 2 years since my last surgery, but honestly it's lifetime crazy stuff and i worry about needing another one and going thru total hellfire again. i was a gymnast/runner/circus acrobat.
Thank you for this video, i love what he said about you could be very fit, strong, flexible, etc but still have significant back issues. people always say "youre so fit, how could you have a bad back?"
Being thin doesnt equate to fitness; whether its a conversational blip or a scientific misunderstanding, it's inherently fatphobic. it makes it harder for these patients to do physical therapy and actually take care of themselves when doctors/peers diminish or make assumptions about pain experiences based on build or weight or looks.
Also when he said "when you feel your leg talking to you" and re mechanical injury, some days feeling much worse than others.. so true. anyway for pain mgmt now i dont do anything save for PT and weed smoking although i dont even know how much the latter helps with physical pain as much as just mental grounding and pleasure lol
