In this particular area, I didn't feel pain but I feel numbness in this area. I feel Like this portion is sleeping. When I work for a long time standing, then I start feeling pain in this area and I also feel a numbness wave going from up to down strait. Plz guide straight

I didn't search/visit for any medication, exercises, physio, pain, etc... I didn't even know it was called the Rhomboid pain. Anyways here's my story. I've been very flexible with my shoulders throughout my life. I always sleep on my side for many years with no problem. 2 weeks ago, I was sleeping on my side and then I sneezed. It pulled my shoulder as I sneezed, I thought I dislocated my shoulder or ripped my shoulder blade of its muscles. Then the pain on my back spine and lower side neck began right away. I figured, it just needs some rest. It's been 2 weeks and I've noticed that the pain hasn't improved. This has never happened to me, asleep on my side sneezing, for the last 40years of my life, but only 2 weeks ago. It's been 2 weeks of pain and now I was contemplating of what I was going to do about it. See a doctor and get it x-ray. But then suddenly, saw it on my recommended on youtube. For the people who says this is merely an incident of "Coincidence", I have to discard that idea because coincidentally, they have never recommended random stuff to me like ballet dancing, coding programming, baking cakes, lizards, etc... All random things that has nothing to do with me. This is my first time on this channel. Thank you very much Stefan for the information.

Has it worked for you since? I am honestly emotional hearing that you have a similar problem. It is so frustrating how little it seems that everyone I have talked to has known about what it could be. not if you currently have a pain...but once you recover from pain,THEN you start walking then run/walk everyday and pain will not come back....minimum half hour EVERYDAY,
I've had this pain on and off for nearly 40 years. It started by holding my baby daughter with her sitting on my forearm. It still hurts as soon as I put on a back pack and starting a hike. At the end of the day, it hurts massively from just a any back movement. Thank You for reliving 40 years of pain. The exercises work!

In 2017 I had this pain in my shoulder blade, I was in prison so I couldn’t go to the chiropractor one day it was so severe I felt like crying. It would keep me awake at night, when I got out my wife who does remedial massage massaged it and done cupping on it, the cupping bought blood to the surface turning the skin purple and she told me that the blood isn’t flowing properly through the muscle and I had to see the chiropractor to adjust the bone back into place. A few cracks from the chiropractor and it was fixed, it felt so good instant relief.
I've been dealing with this pain for literally years. Ever since I was in highschool. I always figured I had injured myself sometime in the past, but these exercises do provide me some relief which is reassuring
Me too clear since hight school. And what I thought it was was always wearing my back pack on 1 shoulder. I figured I pulled a muscle down so much it started growing funny or something. But I wasn't shown any of these. They gave me ibprofin and also said to stretch my shoulder by pulling my arm down with my other arm for a while. Okay, I’m reporting back in after actually doing each of the exercises 10 times. Tremendous improvement already! At first I didn’t notice the improvement but over the last few hours I can really tell. I am an Osteopathic Medical Student and I feel that I have a lot to learn from you.
I have a stretching routine that I do every night, and have done for the last 3 years. Occasionally I will skip my stretches due to inconvenience and then the problems come right back. The 3 movements he showed in the video are part of that routine and some of my favorites because of rhomboid pain. I never knew it was due to my rhomboid area (and the ribs, neck, etc.) so this video was enlightening.

I fix that pain by using a piece of round plastic and jamming it inside for a minute. I put a plastic pyramid with rounded tips on my bed and lay down on it while positioning it precisely with my hand.

In the exact situation, been dealing with this for a minute. It strongly affected my pull ups since it required to pinch your shoulder blades for good form, and I would always feel a pain in my back area when doing that. Now it is dealt with.
After years of going to the doctors and not finding anything about the pain I was having this video is giving me hope. This is day1 of me trying to fix my back. My story is I have a knot like muscle in exactly where you pointed out (that’s the best way I can describe it) and to relieve the pain I pull down my neck and it crack and pops something in that area and it feels good. It’s like cracking your knuckles. The bad thing about it is now I have done it so much that my neck and upper spine are starting to hurt. I get severe headaches where I have to lay down on the floor. I can’t even work a regular job. I’m about to have a child in a couple of months and I want to get better for myself and for my child. This is day 1!! Pray for me and the other people having these problems!! I will also try to get better body postures.

I am getting this pain from years and i don't even know how to explain where the pain is. This video accurately showed that and root cause for my pain. Good on you, Arun. If it's hard to describe the location of the pain then it's much more likely to be referred pain from your lower neck. If it is something you've had for years it'll take a while to improve, but just stick with it. It'll get better and better! I absolutely concur with your very first statement. Rib joint articulations are probably the biggest hidden pain generators in the upper ribbed spine. Lots of pain complaints in the saddle of the shoulder are mostly from rib heads in an over-pressure situation. Pain from the strain of the muscles surrounding the shoulder blade is actually present, but the source of the painful strain lies elsewhere, with the powerful muscles of scapular protraction & scapular depression. Universally overlooked, Serratus Anterior and the Latissimus are the largest chronically shortened sources of strain in the upper back, upper shoulder, and neck. Both have very large cross-sectional areas (a useful way to measure muscle size) and both are shortened inside numerous habitual postural patterns that are just about universal These exercises will mobilize rib and spinal joints in the upper body (which lowers protective muscle tone instantly) and as a bonus, will lengthen the large short scapular depressors, and restore a healthier resting length to strained muscles like the rhomboids.

OMG! This has actually helped me! I did these exercises (which were easy) and tried to sleep in a different position (which was not so easy!) and for the first time in over a year I am not in pain. This 5 min video has done more for me than 12 months of chiro appointments.

Having had shoulder pain for quite a while and taking medical advice I found this video on RUclips. Just looking at the areas the exercises were covering and the explanation given with the images of the pain spots being covered e.g ribs, neck and shoulder(s) I had to give it a go….. In simple terms these exercises made a difference very quickly. There was an hour or so after the first time I tried them with pain but after that I could feel improvement. I’ve been through the mill of doctors to relieve debilitating spine and neck and neck pain. Am now having some relief from steroid epidurals about every six months. No one could tell me why I had so much pain. Long story short, it seems the rib joints must be part of the problem because - your exercises and posture advice are helping. BIG thank you ❤️

I've been doing the second exercise ever since my physiotherapist taught me it years ago when I had really sever pain on my ribs. Absolutely love it, feels fantastic every time.
So strange how I've been having that exact pain/discomfort in that exact spot! I wasn't sure how to alleviate it either. Then I saw the sleeping positions and realized where it comes from. Looks like I'll be adjusting my sleep positions while rotating these new exercises! Hopefully this solves my issue.
@@gabi7156 Well, I've been doing these stretches a lot lately, and to be honest, I have noticed some improvements. I also try to sleep on my back more rather than my side. If you stay consistent, you'll notice a difference for sure!
@@fvknbear4968 it's helped me out a lot, but enough to say that my pain/discomfort is completely gone, but enough to get me through the day. I also try not to sleep on my sides anymore, and sleep more on my back.
This is my fourth day doing these exercises, and the insane pain has been reduced by about 60%. I'm able to *do* this routine and stick with it (so far!) because it doesn't increase the pain, and I'm actually getting a benefit. I wouldn't believe it except that it's happening, and I'm really grateful. Subscribed today!

I've been having severe pain in this exact area. I'm so thankful to have found this. As a software engineer on the computer all day in his 30s I felt too young to have such bad neck and should pain, even to the point I have a numbness and sharp pain going down my shoulder when relaxing my arms at my waist and standing up straight. I had scoliosis surgery when I was 17 (26 now)and this is by far the most common pain point for me. Always attributed it to my procedure. That's also exactly how I sleep! I'll have to try your advice and exercises and maybe finally have some relief!

I have had this pain for decades. I am a side sleeper and this pain would come and go. I thought it had something to do with my lungs at one time, but I breathe just fine. Now after seeing this video that I wasn't looking for, I know what it is. For me the pain would last a few days, to a week. For years my bad posture, looking down a my cellphone and being overweight didn't help either. I am doing better with daily exercise, and my posture is good. I also know that when I sleep with two pillows, It makes my neck and back hurt, so I stopped doing that all the time. The rhomboid muscle pain does make more sense, and now that I know what's causing it, I can do exercises that can help me!🙏💯🙏💯💯🙏💯💯🙏💯💯🙏💯🙏

I’ve had a consistent pain in my upper back since I was 16 and work at discount tire. No one believed me when I said I had back pain they said I was too young so I gave up. I’m now 22 and the pain is substantially worse. I went to pt which didn’t help I tried a massage therapist I felt hopeless. This video is literally the only video that has actually helped my upper back.

What's interesting is I was told that I can't have pain in this area by 4 medical doctors who all pushed an anti-depressant. Thank you for these exercises. I don't know why this showed up for me, but I need these exercises to help alleviate and get rid of the pain I have had for the last few years.
Doctors in my area love to do this. My wife had a heart condition and 2 different doctors tried to put her on the mood pills instead of fixing the issue. She could have died but would have been happy i guess.

I’ve always done these stretches naturally when I felt I needed a stretch. However, I never thought of the chest/rib stretch where you cross over through the opposite side. It makes for a much wider range of stretch. Thank you.

Almost 33 and dealing with this issue over 10 years. No answers from doctors or chiropractors. This makes sense now, especially when that area creaks and cracks when I twist my body a certain way 5,000 times a day, to release the pressure. I knew it wasn’t my shoulder blade. I feel you, man. I'm 37 and have being dealing with this for almost 3 years. It's not debilitating but so annoying because there's pain for the most part of the day. Please, I'd be greateful if you shared any other videos or treatment you found helpful. Thanks and may we be pain free in 2023.
Has it worked for you since? I am honestly emotional hearing that you have a similar problem. It is so frustrating how little it seems that everyone I have talked to has known about what it could be. Countless PTS, Chiros, Primary Care doctors, Surgeons, tons of medical imaging that all shows up as normal. If you wouldn't mind is there a way I could have a conversation with you?

i've been dealing with extreme shoulder/neck pain as well as pain between my shoulder blade and spine for OVER a year now and after doing these stretches for a few days it's almost completely gone. i almost cried from finally not having any pain :') thank you so much for the video!

Oddly enough, I only ever had this pain once and I was about 20 years old. (I was studying 40-60 hours a week so that'd be why I had it)
You should have it unless you run 5 km EVERY day , seat on cell phone /comp for hours

Sir I'm 15 and experiencing this pain
I've had this pain on and off for nearly 40 years. It started by holding my baby daughter with her sitting on my forearm. It still hurts as soon as I put on a back pack and starting a hike. At the end of the day, it hurts massively from just a any back movement. Thank You for reliving 40 years of pain. The exercises work!

It really works
In 2017 I had this pain in my shoulder blade, I was in prison so I couldn’t go to the chiropractor one day it was so severe I felt like crying. It would keep me awake at night, when I got out my wife who does remedial massage massaged it and done cupping on it, the cupping bought blood to the surface turning the skin purple and she told me that the blood isn’t flowing properly through the muscle and I had to see the chiropractor to adjust the bone back into place. A few cracks from the chiropractor and it was fixed, it felt so good instant relief.
I've been dealing with this pain for literally years. Ever since I was in highschool. I always figured I had injured myself sometime in the past, but these exercises do provide me some relief which is reassuring

Me too clear since hight school. And what I thought it was was always wearing my back pack on 1 shoulder. I figured I pulled a muscle down so much it started growing funny or something. But I wasn't shown any of these. They gave me ibprofin and also said to stretch my shoulder by pulling my arm down with my other arm for a while. Honestly it works, but the pain always returns within a few months. I've had it for years and years. But this is a super interesting video.

I have a stretching routine that I do every night, and have done for the last 3 years. Occasionally I will skip my stretches due to inconvenience and then the problems come right back. The 3 movements he showed in the video are part of that routine and some of my favorites because of rhomboid pain. I never knew it was due to my rhomboid area (and the ribs, neck, etc.) so this video was enlightening.

This guy has had this problem! I came up with the first one on my own after years of problems with it. The other three feel sooooo gooood!
I fix that pain by using a piece of round plastic and jamming it inside for a minute. I put a plastic pyramid with rounded tips on my bed and lay down on it while positioning it precisely with my hand.

In the exact situation, been dealing with this for a minute. It strongly affected my pull ups since it required to pinch your shoulder blades for good form, and I would always feel a pain in my back area when doing that. Now it is dealt with.

After years of going to the doctors and not finding anything about the pain I was having this video is giving me hope. This is day1 of me trying to fix my back. My story is I have a knot like muscle in exactly where you pointed out (that’s the best way I can describe it) and to relieve the pain I pull down my neck and it crack and pops something in that area and it feels good. It’s like cracking your knuckles. The bad thing about it is now I have done it so much that my neck and upper spine are starting to hurt. I get severe headaches where I have to lay down on the floor. I can’t even work a regular job. I’m about to have a child in a couple of months and I want to get better for myself and for my child. This is day 1!! Pray for me and the other people having these problems!! I will also try to get better body postures.

I am getting this pain from years and i don't even know how to explain where the pain is. This video accurately showed that and root cause for my pain. I have been practicing yoga for one or two days in a week and I am getting releif because of that stretches.

Good on you, Arun. If it's hard to describe the location of the pain then it's much more likely to be referred pain from your lower neck. If it is something you've had for years it'll take a while to improve, but just stick with it. It'll get better and better! You described the back pain I have perfectly. And one of the reasons for it. You showed the exact way I was laying on my side with the shoulder forward.

I absolutely concur with your very first statement. Rib joint articulations are probably the biggest hidden pain generators in the upper ribbed spine. Lots of pain complaints in the saddle of the shoulder are mostly from rib heads in an over-pressure situation.
Pain from the strain of the muscles surrounding the shoulder blade is actually present, but the source of the painful strain lies elsewhere, with the powerful muscles of scapular protraction & scapular depression. Universally overlooked, Serratus Anterior and the Latissimus are the largest chronically shortened sources of strain in the upper back, upper shoulder, and neck. Both have very large cross-sectional areas (a useful way to measure muscle size) and both are shortened inside numerous habitual postural patterns that are just about universal
These exercises will mobilize rib and spinal joints in the upper body (which lowers protective muscle tone instantly) and as a bonus, will lengthen the large short scapular depressors, and restore a healthier resting length to strained muscles like the rhomboids.

Having had shoulder pain for quite a while and taking medical advice I found this video on RUclips. Just looking at the areas the exercises were covering and the explanation given with the images of the pain spots being covered e.g ribs, neck and shoulder(s) I had to give it a go…..
In simple terms these exercises made a difference very quickly. There was an hour or so after the first time I tried them with pain but after that I could feel improvement. Absolutely brilliant….. thank you!

Wow, Just Wow! Just had this pop up on my recommendation. I have been dealing with this for 3 years. You were spot on. My right shoulder and C7 herniated disc. I am IMPRESSED. I can’t wait to try these. I also have a bone spur on my c7 pressing a nerve so I have numbness also. Btw that is exactly how I sleep….. I have searched and talked with different drs, therapist. I’ve been through the mill of doctors to relieve debilitating spine and neck and neck pain. Am now having some relief from steroid epidurals about every six months. No one could tell me why I had so much pain.
Long story short, it seems the rib joints must be part of the problem because - your exercises and posture advice are helping.

I've been doing the second exercise ever since my physiotherapist taught me it years ago when I had really sever pain on my ribs. Absolutely love it, feels fantastic every time.

So strange how I've been having that exact pain/discomfort in that exact spot! I wasn't sure how to alleviate it either. Then I saw the sleeping positions and realized where it comes from. Looks like I'll be adjusting my sleep positions while rotating these new exercises! Hopefully this solves my issue.

@@gabi7156 Well, I've been doing these stretches a lot lately, and to be honest, I have noticed some improvements. I also try to sleep on my back more rather than my side. If you stay consistent, you'll notice a difference for sure!
@@fvknbear4968 it's helped me out a lot, but enough to say that my pain/discomfort is completely gone, but enough to get me through the day. I also try not to sleep on my sides anymore, and sleep more on my back.
This is my fourth day doing these exercises, and the insane pain has been reduced by about 60%. I'm able to *do* this routine and stick with it (so far!) because it doesn't increase the pain, and I'm actually getting a benefit. I wouldn't believe it except that it's happening, and I'm really grateful. Subscribed today!

@@chriswilson1968 No, it didn't in my case ! Must say it's not a spot that bugs me regularly or something, it just got stuck for a few days for some reason. I know what to do though if it comes back again ;) I have other spots that are always tight: that can't be fixed -I don't think. But this one could :)

I've been having severe pain in this exact area. I'm so thankful to have found this. As a software engineer on the computer all day in his 30s I felt too young to have such bad neck and should pain, even to the point I have a numbness and sharp pain going down my shoulder when relaxing my arms at my waist and standing up straight. I been stretching lately and it's been getting better, going to put some of these other ones in my daily stretches.

I had scoliosis surgery when I was 17 (26 now)and this is by far the most common pain point for me. Always attributed it to my procedure. That's also exactly how I sleep! I'll have to try your advice and exercises and maybe finally have some relief!
Yes, it's much more likely that you will get rhomboid pain with scoliosis but these exercises can still help so good luck
the doctors were willing to do surgery on you because they got the job, lots of money for them. plus they like to practise their thing,

I have had this pain for decades. I am a side sleeper and this pain would come and go. I thought it had something to do with my lungs at one time, but I breathe just fine. Now after seeing this video that I wasn't looking for, I know what it is. For me the pain would last a few days, to a week. For years my bad posture, looking down a my cellphone and being overweight didn't help either. I am doing better with daily exercise, and my posture is good. I also know that when I sleep with two pillows, It makes my neck and back hurt, so I stopped doing that all the time. The rhomboid muscle pain does make more sense, and now that I know what's causing it, I can do exercises that can help me!🙏💯🙏💯💯🙏💯💯🙏💯💯🙏💯🙏

I have had a spinal C6,7 and T1 event. I was lucky to start with; I still had feeling and was able to move. Your exercises were a welcome reminder of what works and needs to be maintained.

I’ve had a consistent pain in my upper back since I was 16 and work at discount tire. No one believed me when I said I had back pain they said I was too young so I gave up. I’m now 22 and the pain is substantially worse. I went to pt which didn’t help I tried a massage therapist I felt hopeless. This video is literally the only video that has actually helped my upper back.
Just keep going Lucas. It's been there a while so it'll take a while to get better. Chip away at it and you'll be like new before you know it!

What's interesting is I was told that I can't have pain in this area by 4 medical doctors who all pushed an anti-depressant. Thank you for these exercises. I don't know why this showed up for me, but I need these exercises to help alleviate and get rid of the pain I have had for the last few years.

Doctors in my area love to do this. My wife had a heart condition and 2 different doctors tried to put her on the mood pills instead of fixing the issue. She could have died but would have been happy i guess.
It already feels better after doing the exercises. Kinda can’t believe it. And I see now where it’s coming from. Not only posture but also from my sleep position which I’m definitely going to correct now!

I’ve always done these stretches naturally when I felt I needed a stretch. However, I never thought of the chest/rib stretch where you cross over through the opposite side. It makes for a much wider range of stretch. Thank you.
It's actually a yoga move, that one. Great exercise. Can be hard work reaching straight up though!
