- In this video, I show how I installed and trimmed out two Johnson Hardware 1500 series pocket doors in my gym. Please follow along as I raise a wall section framed for the pocket door, resize the kit's header unit for my installation, install the header, install the half studs to allow for drywall installation. After the drywall was installed, I then trim them out inside the frames and then with casing outside. The video ends with the doors ready for putty and paint. Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe if you enjoy!

Thanks took me a while to find this video, but like the comment before I couldn't find any other video to show me how to build the casing for the trim. Not even the manufacturer shows this. Thanks!!! Will save me a lot of time
Thanks
First video I've found for assembly of pocket door frame. Most are the prefabricated frames...
Extremely helpful....
A bit of information I just figured out after 40 years of battling hand saws, I clamp a speed square at the cut mark now in order to make more precise cuts...
I'm so glad you found it helpful. For me, the written instructions had all of the necessary information, but it took me a while to really figure it out. I will be much quicker if there's a next time.
Great work, really I really enjoy watching your videos ☘️
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your support for such a long time!
Jeff Marx you welcome,no problem
I see he uses the same technique as I do. When you’re too close to your work to see it clearly, simply tilt your forehead downward. Works every time.
Sometimes the glasses hurt rather than helping! 😀
Starting a double pocket door project right now

So what wine was that gracing your pocket door prep? So convenient having that gorgeous wine cellar handy!
Thank you for watching and commenting! I enjoy, and have a wide variety of both old and new world wines: red, white, rose, and sparkling. I'm a bargian hunter and am constantly trying to find tasty and undervalued wines, often from regions not getting the attention they deserve. I'm very excited to have mostly moved into the cellar now so some of my wines can mature properly over time. If you're interested, please check out my wine cellar build sub-series within the basement series. Jeff
We installed pocket door but not understanding why door opening is larger than door. A strike jamb is not 1 inch thick. So are we missing something? There’s a gap when the door is closed. Not on jamb side. On the other side.
You could potentially add a trim piece to eliminate the gap. Best of luck, I hope you figure it out!
Very good video. How did you attach the drywall to the mini studs?
They're attached w short drywall screws. The back sides are metal to prevent screws sticking through and hitting the door. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Johnson tech support said add 4-1/2" plus door height for rough opening. Dont you also have to add for floor treatment?
You should indeed add for flooring as necessary. In my case there is just a very thin LVT that didn't need additional height. Thank you!

what size nails did you use for the anchor to concrete?
I believe I used 2 inch powder actuated nails for the brackets.
What size are you cutting need to say how long and where to cut
The length will be dependent on your install. The directions that came with the kit were a little bit confusing but you should be able to figure out the correct length from them. Thanks!
