You can download files (and upload files to be printed too) from the SD card using FTP directly to the printer even in LAN only mode, so you don't have to remove the SD from the printer. However, Bambu really should make an effort to have absolutely all functionality working (including the Handy app) in LAN only mode.
The reason you are getting that warning isn't because you are doing something unkosher on your router. Its because it uses a self-signed certificate to secure the connection. It means that your browser cannot verify the endpoint is legitimate. Obviously on your home network, not really an issue but on the Internet, it is more suspect. Its basically saying "This certificate I'm being shown, I can't verify it is what it says it is. So treat this site with caution it may not be legitimate".
Acid test for me would be to block the X1C's MAC address at the WiFi router level so it has zero access to the Internet. If I find evidence that it continues to work after blocking it, I will immediately buy one of these. I really hope Bamboo is watching these videos. They would sell more of these to both public and private industries that can't have their confidential designs sent over the Internet to who knows where.
This is great, however, for me I do use the Handy app to monitor my prints while I am home watching tv. I would not be able to do that. I guess I would need to reconnect to the cloud when I want to use the Handy App. I hope they change this do that the Handy app could work when you are at home using the lan mode. Thanks again for the video!
on a recent Sat night video you where asking about what Filliment. I use Voxel. for San Diego, they come out of Garden Grove (LA). normal turn around is 2-3 days, at 16.99 per roll. free shipping over 3 rolls. I have had no problem with it. have used 50 or so rolls over the past year. 20 have been voxel.
Thanks for the great news! It's weird to me that folks don't seem to understand the cloud functionality is just an option. I thought this was a tech savvy user group. Anyway, I personally appreciate the "option" to check prints remotely. Most of our products are already exposed in the marketplace, those that are sensitive can be kept off-line. Having the camera available on our LAN is a welcome update.
I use the Handy app to check on prints when I’m upstairs, printer is is in the basement. Hopefully that function will work in Lan only mode. I think Bambu needs to hire Gina from Octoprint to show them how to do it.
Issue I am having after switching to the LAN only mode on one of my printers is that Bambu Studio now constantly requesting the following (Won't let me send) stays on 100% though : A MicroSD card needs to be inserted before sending to printer. Note the card is already installed, the card had been also formatted via the Bambu Lab Interface and the printer was switched on/off Ideas ?
Looks like this isn't possible on P1S. I hope Bambu Labs updates the firmware for the P series so we can have the camera in LAN mode. Does FTP to the SD card still work in LAN only mode (l currently use Filezilla to get my timelapses from my P1S without having to grab the SD card).
Do you notice an improvment in the video quality? My biggest issue with using the cloud (I think) is that my video feed will get super blurry and compressed, which I am assuming is due to it being streamed to the cloud, then streamed back to my network so i can watch it.
Thanks for this. I recently upgraded and chose the Qidi X-Plus 3 just because of this. I wish it had a camera and an AMS, but didn't want to be reliant on the cloud. Maybe I moved too quickly?
I just received it today and am printing a test benchy. It's a beast! Fast, not too loud. I've not used a Bambu machine so it'd hard for me to compare. But I do like it!
Does somebody know what happens to the saved values like flow calibration? Sometimes if i disconnect from the server (logout in bambu studio) my saved values are gone, after i recalibrated all my filaments (hard work..) i noticed that the x1 downloaded some values. How does the nachine handle the values in lan mode? Are they saved to the printer? Are they gone? Whats with values stored in lan only mode, will they update the cloud at some point or will they be overwriten if i go online? Can you say some words to this point?
when i get back home i am going to try this (although my menu on the A1 is diffrent and i don't see a use camera in lan mode option) but instead of connecting them both to the same network. i am going to connect my printer to the phone hotspot. and the computer to our network. if it still sends. then they are lying to you and you are not using LAN mode. and in that case. the wifi on my printer will NEVER be turned on again. infact i might even desolder it from the motherboard.
Doesn't work for me. Followed you're video very carefully. My printer isn't listed when I click "Add Printer" after turning on "LAN only". Printer has been on the cloud and has current updates. When on the cloud everything works including the camera. Seems like we skipped some steps somewhere. Definitely something wrong. Logged in online, everything works. Hit "LAN only" and printer disappears from "My Devices" on the laptop Bambu Lab Studio. Once I turn the "LAN only" off on the printer I have to re-scan the QR code on the printer with the Handy App. Then I hit "Confirm to Bind" on the Hany App it seems like something isn't working right. It does log in and I can see the printer and watch the print. The "Confirm to Bind" seems like it never completes. I'm probably doing something wrong. Spent 2 hours on it with no success. Moving on.
My situation is exactly the same. Note however that my PC is on the LAN, the printer is on WiFi. I mention that 'cause I wonder if it only works on WiFi-only networks.
Oh and incidentally, I just tried Orca-Slicer, which is a fork of Bambu Studio: and it is exactly the same! - I can only print via the Bambu cloud. It makes we wonder what's the point of forking Bambu Studio.
Attempted to go to LAN only mode again this morning with no luck. The problem appears to be somewhere in the binding process. I scan the QR code on the printer with the Handy App and it tries to bind then says it can't and gives me a list of things to check with the router ect. I'm not an IT expert and have no idea how to chase all that stuff down. The printers self network test checks out as all ok. Laptop and printer are definitely hooked to my home network. It took several tries to get the printer to connect again to the regular network and for my laptop to see it again. Still no function on the Lan Only setting. Hope others have better luck.
Hooray! I finally got it working. I don't know for a fact that both steps are needed, but it all suddenly worked after I did this. First, I assigned a static IP to the printer on my LAN - I don't know why this would be needed, but it may at least speed up finding the printer. Second, I went into Network Settings on my Win10 host and changed the Network Profile from "Public" to "Private", i.e. security is not so paranoid on a private LAN. I think this second one was the magic step. I hope this helps others here.
@@dangerous8333 there’s a thing called internal memory that bambu extracts from your printer when u connect to their cloud and no they don’t give you access to it to clear it
@lendizzle do you not read your comments? people are asking a question and without answering this question YOUR VIDEO IS USELESS!!!! ANSWER IT!!!!! they are asking if this still works when you block your printer from internet access at the router level. (basicly they are asking if you are dumb and only THINK your printer is in lan only mode) on a side note. you need to redo your monitor settings. it's like you have your computer monitor set to a verry low brightness. and then just upped the brightness in windows to compensate. making it so that your video is extremely "overexposed"
You forgot the biggest downside... you don't get firmware updates. I continue to be surprised that so many people are up in arms about gcode going through a cloud server, but have no issue at all with their cell phone company and apple, if you use one, keeping track of your position/location, down to a square meter, every 6 seconds... or that your phone carrier knows where you bank and your financial transactions... or any of the truly personal data that you willingly hand over simply by using a cell phone and keeping it on your person at all times. Stop being paranoid about your prints, I promise you that your prints aren't interesting to others... but ignore the choice you've made to give up actual privacy in exchange for the convenience of having a portable computer in your pocket.
Thinking about the irony over freaking out about gcode going through the cloud, yet they use tinkercad, fusion 123, sketchup, onshape, etc for their actual design files. In terms of fears of designs being stolen I'd have more concerns if my full design was stolen than the gcode associated with a print.

Ya, that's why they include LAN only mode, direct control and the SD card options. Lol

Fantastic Len. It always annoyed me that each print had to stream 1000’s of km/miles, when the printers in the same house.

Still disappointing that you don't have access to all features in LAN only mode.
Outstanding. I really do appreciate your training and your sharing your knowledge.

You need updated firmware for that but you can't update firmware unless you connect to their cloud lol
So, just connect to a guest WiFi account and don’t have any of your intellectual files on the SD card. Then update it and factory reset.
