That's why the card is 55$, and free shipping at 60$+. Incentivize people to buy just a little something extra on top of the gift card to get that free shipping.
I don't like to promote any one brand, though the Bambu printers are really well designed and built. I've just struggled with PETG on them. I've moved my X1C to the basement to free up some space in my shop as well, and so that I can print while I record, printers running while recording are bad for audio-quality.
@@NeedItMakeIt I print almost exclusively PETG in my P1S, A1's and K1 Max. Bed adhesion can be a pain to clean up, but otherwise they all consistently nail it unless I neglect to clean the bed one too many times. K1 Max can be very sensitive about that (textured PEI) but all of them share that problem. So I've made it a point to wipe the bed after each print with a squirt of Simple Green. I do often print with the K1 door and lid on, and that has not caused a problem with PETG, and I've done that with the P1S sometimes as well, but my lid is always two inches elevated so not the same thing. My wife seems to have a penchant for clogging her A1 with her glittery, glowy PLA filaments.
@@ToddRafferty I use mainly Wham Bam and the stock PEI plates. I have one textured as well, but I don't always want the textured look. It does make a difference for adhesion, it seems to hold onto that first layer better without glue. I'm not so sure that it would working on a heavy print with lots of walls and infill without using glue stick still though.
A other reason i could think of for giving free stuff for models is getting people into the eco system. Starters mostly dont design things themself and rely on downloading models. Since a big group of Bambulab users are extremely brand and ecosystem loyal they probably will only download from a Bambu model library. So increasing their library of models they make the brand more attractive thus adding value to the company. By uploading models you basically "work" for bambulab and thus the give you a compensation for it and to convince you to upload more thus increasing their offering and brand value.
In the US we still have the 3 filament spools. We also have spools of filament available on the Bambu lab maker world website so you can get it directly from the store.
So thank you for this video! Since watching it I've been a busy bee on makerworld, and just earned a 2nd AMS, and a ton of filament. Of course they JUST revamped the system with BOOSTs so we'll see how that goes. But with just one model I made over $600 in $40 gift cards, if I hadn't bought a bunch of filament and plates and the AMS I could have literally bought a whole other printer. So far loving Makerworld
Perfect, through a twist of fate I ended up switching to MW and I think I'm about the 1K mark for cards, that's Canadian, and I have quite a few models on there now. With the new system the points have slowed quite a bit, but they're still coming, so that's okay, and with truly free shipping, it's still worth using them over any other side IMO. I'm glad it worked out well for you, that's great progress with one model, it seems like it could be in the trend section with that level of points!
The anti-vibration feet are LEGIT, they make the printer wobble insanely but it's SILENT while doing so, it's almost otherworldly lol. Just make sure to re-run the calibration so it can do it's vibration test and noise-cancelling test after installing them.
@@pperry6715 it comes with basic silicon or rubber feet, but you can actually print your own anti-vibration feet from TPU, they don't block the exact design and others from makerworld. they were just cheaper than buying a TPU spool lol
I keep my Eh's to a minimum, but yes sir southern Ontario. I'm starting to see quite a few Canadian channels pop up, we're getting better at making content, or maybe we need that 2nd job to afford the food?
I know Makerworld had a problem for a while with both trolls and people abusing the site uploading garbage stolen files without attribution just to earn points, i think anyone with a high point value is probably going to get flagged like this, i only had 490 points when I redeemed and didn't get flagged.
But was the filament completely FREE? Like no shipping fees and anything? Because it would really cost Bambu Lab something to just send it to you and not making a profit. If that's what they're doing, then they're buying stuff for US nerds.
@@amarjitd9290if I remember correctly from seeing someone say they got a free printer from it, they had to pay taxes and shipping but the printer was $0. They paid somewhere close to $30 total
i started saving coupons around christmas and have ordered a a1mini combo 3 weeks ago. Currently i make enough points per week to collect 2-3 coupons without uploading new designs so happy days for me i guess.. Hopefully will have enough coupons by the time the a1 will be re released to get it for free. from then on i will use it to get some extra ams units for my p1p because i don't have any more room for new printers :D
Nice! From what I've heard so far from people, they're pretty happy in general with Maker World, I haven't really heard anything bad so far. I hope it can last so we can redeem regularly and feed our obsessions. I have a video where I tested printing on top of my X1C, and the results were quite good, not perfect, but with some vibration feet, maybe it would be nearly perfect. Great to hear that you're benefiting from it, not that long ago everyone was uploading to Thingiverse, but we had a lot of junk there it seemed.
@@maks_not_max You can setup print profiles, meaning that you print the parts and then you come up with a good bunch of settings. You can also print models and rate them, at least that's how it works on Printables. I only generate points by uploading parts to print, I don't do the other things, they tend to be quite time-consuming unless you have a good clean process in place.
@@maks_not_max creating printprofiles.. I upload a lot of printprofiles of models who are not mine and i do state it in the description. A lot of small models are not a1mini friendly and i upload mostly profiles of a1 mini... Since my first comment here i made already enough points to get another a1mini and that just in 3 weeks without having to upload anything..
Wow that's some great rewards! Definitely worthwhile to contribute to Maker World. It's a loss leader strategy for sure, but that's how they'll populate the store with quality.
Maybe with some pressure, Printables will make some changes to be more competitive, but for now, rewarding people for their good work seems like a pretty good idea. When people steal other people's work and remix with little to no effort, that's not such a great part of it. There should be more strict rules on that. I have someone on Creality Print that added "K1" to the part and that was it, but they at least left my logo on it, provided attribution and linked my video.
@@802Garage I've had some experiences with Ebay and it did not work out like this at all, they continue to allow people to sell my designs from my videos, even using images from my videos to sell their products. The final solution was to not post the newer versions of the model, if they want to sell it, they're selling the less functional one. What do you think constitutes a good remix? Is there anything in writing that's clear for everyone to see, or is any change at all a remix and I should just get over it?
@@NeedItMakeIt I think it depends on the license of the original design. If it was put up as fully open source with no attribution required, people can do whatever they want, even if it is being sold in some form. If it was put up with a non-commercial license, meaning any derivatives should only be personal use and not sold for profit, I don't think any form of remix is acceptable. If commercial licensing is allowed, but only with attribution and modification, then I believe the remix should add, remove, or change a function of the device In order to be sold without issue. Oviously that's a super gray area though. So I think put very simply, non-commercial license, it cannot be sold in any form altered or not they have to design completely from scratch, even if they copy your design. Commercial license, it can pretty much be sold in any form even if someone straight up steals it because what are you going to do about it? In a case like this, just removing a logo, obviously that's bogus. There is nothing you can do to stop someone from completely copying your design in a case like this, but if you can prove that they literally used your file or if the part is essentially identical and came later, I think websites should take it down as copyright infringement. I needed a Bowdoin tube clip for example that was not the size that came with my printer and not the size of any files I could find online, so I designed one completely from scratch. It looks nearly identical to many others, but I started with a raw sketch in Fusion 360. Functionally the same as other designs, but clearly not stolen. If I had taken someone else's file, lowered the height by half a millimeter, and then wanted to sell it, I still think that would be bogus, but obviously it's hard to go after something like that. With more complicated designs it's more obvious.
Great video like always. When I redeemed my first gift card I didn't had to wait 8 business days, I received the coupon code instantly. And I noticed I had received a system message few days earlier notifying me that my makerworld points had been reviewed. I really like this approach of reviewing the account points just before having enough points to redeem a gift card. This makes the whole experience much more enjoyable for someone like me who doesn't like to wait ^^
Good review from Canada, Saskatchewan (former Ontario). Printables is much better for someone in EU (shipping and customs). Same idea when buying a Prusa printer from North America, it is very expensive. This is why Makerworld is much better/cheaper for us. Same for buying Bambu Lab printers and accessories/supply.
Thanks! I can't complain but it would be great if Printables had a distribution center at least in the US, I think that may be what they're trying to do with Printed Solid, they sell filament from there, but don't provide it for redemption purposes for some reason. It's tough to beat their quality and I'd prefer to use products on occasion from other countries. Ideally Canada, but that's not really a thing anymore.
Sask eh? I'm in Regina. Ontario a lifetime ago... Can confim though. I cross-loaded most of my models from Printables, wasn't really trying to get anything, but Makerworld feels a bit Wild-West right now. My free A1 Mini just showed up, took 9 gift cards. $120 spool of PATH-CF and three spools of PLA took 5 more cards. Same-ish models on Printables got some free spools(still have to pay shipping from Czech Republic) but only 1/4 the way to a free printer.
@@mobiobione You're ahead of me by a longshot, nice work! I'm waiting for Bambu's newest printer, my guess is that it'll be able to compete with the XL, but I guess time will tell, knowing them they're doing things differently than everyone else and it could surprise us.
It's pretty straight forward, imo. Giving incentive to post stl files creates more catalogue which keeps people on their site and in their ecosystem. I've had bad luck with printers at first mainly because there are so many slicer settings. I went through a whole roll trying to get all the settings right on my first printer, then got rid of that for a bigger printer that had a lot of issues with the new ones I got. Having files that offer good settings on the page keeps me on their site a majority of the time and actually influenced my decision to get a bambulab printer in the first place. I want to 3d print, but not be a 3d printer hobbyist (as in always tinkering on it or upgrading it). And I'm not saying they're the best or even that the company I bought the broken printers from are all bad (which is why I am not naming names, sometimes life's RNG just doesn't favor you). Just saying that they're definitely doing the gift card system in order to try to create a whole community as well as drive sales. They're creating a walled garden without any walls. By keeping the garden maintained they keep retention high instead of forcing people into an ecosystem that makes it difficult to escape.
10:50 yea the number one reason why it was created is because they copied Prusas website and needed users to make it worthwhile for anyone to use it. these programs are just there to attract users to your website and thats it. beside this the reason why this works for Bambulabs is because China is still considered a developing nation and is benefiting from insanely cheap international shipping rates thanks to that, on top of that the CPP also subsidizes the little shipping cost that remains which is the main reason why everything shipped from China is so cheap. Prusa is only like a 4 hour drive away from me and yet getting something shipped from them costs more than getting it shipped from China.
There are some people still benefiting from Pintables, but it's not justifiable any longer for me to use them especially when I can truly get filament and parts for free. Of course no matter which way you look at it, the company is benefiting from our work in the sales of filament and the more designs we post the more they are printed etc. I also expect that they're making a big push to get people hooked, long-term I'm not sure what it will look like, but for the time being it's the place to be posting your work, that or maybe Etsy or similar. I can see your point, they have an advantage over other countries, which I suppose is why just about everything seems to be made in China these days. I just purchased some metric Allen keys and they were made in the Czech, but I paid about 4X the price for them. They look amazing, and I hope they last. I'm all about competition so we'll see what Printables does to compete, so far I haven't seen much aside from them bringing back the 3 spool combo.
@@NeedItMakeIt the 3 spools combo not being there is a temporary thing as they currently have so much demand for their filament that they cant produce enough even with the new filament line they just recently build. beside this Printables cant compete with free shipping and that was never the point of all of this. the entire reason why printables exists is that there was no good platform for 3d models as Thinigverse has been unusable for years at that point. Of course with all the subsidies and cheap labor its easy for bambulabs to undercut anything especially when they literally almost made a one to one copy from printables and just changed the design a tiny bit to make it less obvious.
One issue with the first part about copying designs I've seen is where someone copys your design, posts it, claims against yours, and yours gets taken down
That's pretty sneaky, they'd have to supply proof and if yours pre-dates theirs it's not likely going to be easy for them. I'll give you a little tip as well. I hide my logo within the models, they're not visible from the outside, and they're very thin as well, it's not going to be something that's easy to see unless you look at the correct angle in x-ray mode and are also quite zoomed in. MW has changed their points program quite a bit and it's not as good for creators so far, but we'll see where it ends up. They reached out to me to ask me if I'd be willing to work with them on a video, but I think at this point I will not be doing that unless something changes.
I dont think the defects are because of the filament, those Creality machines printed pretty poorly, you can see all the bad layer lines on both when it was zoomed in while they were still printing the frame. Not sure if I'm just used to my Bambu, but that quality was pretty bad. I primarily use cheap filament from amazon on my A1 combo and it comes out amazing every single time.
sidebar: Yes you can use the gift card for shipping and buying anything from the store, best thing is it keeps all other discounts, so any buy 2 or buy 3 discounts on filament are kept and this is off of the total like cash. I was worried they might cancel out any discounts but they stayed.
I saved up for over a year on Printables to get the 3 pack of filament, but I saw it was missing from the options a few months ago. Thankfully it came back, so I was able to order my discounted prusament :)
anti vibrating feet comes with 2 sets.🤷♂ I thought the same thing then looked at the site and comes as an 8pc😂 They try to get us to buy another printer
Glad everything went well! Excellent video! As for me, I already have enough points to get a Bambu Lab A1 mini, but since I live in Latin America, I think it will be impossible to obtain it... Do you have any info about this matter?? Thanks in advance!!
Do you make tuned filament profiles for each of your machine/filament combinations? No one seems to ever mention if they do or not, so the quality of a print in a video becomes kind of meaningless to me. I've found that fit & finish, corner sharpness, and layer lines will vary depending on whether or not you use the proper flow ratio, max volumetric speed, and pressure advance values. Pretty easy to find out the proper settings to use for those (especially in OrcaSlicer) and you only need to do it once for each brand and type of filament (though it can be good to do per-color as well, but I don't go that far). Of course, these settings do vary from printer to printer (at least from model to model) as well.
The nice thing is, if you use the AMS and Bambu's software, (maybeeee Orca can read from the AMS) soon as you drop that new spool in there, it configures it via the RFID chips for your specific attached machine to what is factory tested/suggested for flow rate, bed temp, tip temps, speed, etc. That alone makes the price of using their filament worth it to me. Especially when they have their bulk savings day where you can pick up a 1kg reel for 16-19$ depending on what it is.
My first two printers were from Prusa, they were expensive for what their capabilities were at the time but I liked their support and their dedication to open source. I don't make money on the printers, they are just for personal use and gifts I make people, I've never been able to make money on them. I'm sad that I'm considering a printer from Bambu now but as I live in the US Prusa is just too expensive for me. I'd use their filament if shipping was cheaper and buy their printers if they had a support hub and warehouse in the US but shipping just kills me.
I think Prusa still has a good name, and they've remained good printers over time, and considering that they were constructed from printed parts, it's pretty impressive. My feeling is that with some pressure they'll make the appropriate adjustments and should become more competitive. Maker World seems to be so much more advantageous to use than Printables unless maybe you live in the EU. I am still a bit shocked that I didn't need to pay for anything, and also I have cashed in again for 3 more spools, but this time of PETG-CF. I also think that Maker World will begin to change as more people jump to their platform. There are some more companies coming up which are very competitive, one is FLSUN, with what may be the fastest printers to-date and QIDI, with printers that perform well and have heated chambers. Lots of other companies are following the COREXY format as well, so we'll see what they come out with, it should be interesting to see.
How could you order 3 spool of Prusament and not pay for it ? It is possible to order only 1 prusament per order using the points. Of course you ned to pay for shipping and taxes...
After years of using printables point system, I managed to rack up a stagering 1500 points... In under a year of using makerworld, I saved up enough to buy a new printer. Will it stay like this forever? Lets hope.
Unless Printables does something dramatic soon, they'll lose everyone. That's awesome BTW, which printer did you get? They're making their filament cheaper as well by giving everyone the membership rates, they must be printing money, it seems like they're just giving the stuff away.
@@NeedItMakeIt I could have clarified more. I saved up enough to buy a printer. But I didn't. I use my 360 bucks in giftcards on all filament and spare parts. But I could have bought an a1 mini.
Thanks for the video. I was disappointed on printables after working to earn a free spool of filament, I ended up having to pay $18 for shipping. But. The Prusa matte black is really good filament so worth it still.
You're welcome. I've found that Prusa is still one of the best if not THEE best filament out there, sadly I can't justify it and I think that's the case for a lot of people. MakerWorld is back to giving pretty good rewards, there was a time about 2 months ago where it changed quite a bit and it didn't seem to be generating many points. Now it's pretty good again.
Nice work. Loved the red filament. Is it better to redeem for the gift certificates as you go or save up points to get enough vouchers for what you want? You mentioned that your change was saved on one of the GC. Does that mean you have one left w/ that amount and the system erases the others or do you have to figure out which gc the change is on?
I haven't opened up the red yet, I'm waiting for the right project, but the filament looks good so far, Black and Grey are printing nice, no complaints. If it were me, I'd redeem as soon as I had enough points to cash in for free shipping. If you're saving for an AMS or a printer and it's slow going, I suppose I'd wait as long as possible. I have a feeling that Bambu will be changing this setup because it seems like it is costing them a lot. They must be making a push to have as many people jump over to their platform and then they'll make the adjustment, that's my guess, but time will tell. I have one GC left with some money left on it, but I don't know which it is. I still have each of them listed so it seems fairly straight forward to go back through each of them to get the right one.
I think about 3 months ago. I should say that I think I have a slight leg up because of my YT channel. I didn't really intend it that way, normally I just make designs to help people solve problems and post them for free, this is a nice kick-back though.
That's definitely a better deal, let's see how long it sticks around though... hopefully printables will loosen their grip on the rewards stuff before all the value on Maker World goes away.. but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see
Sure, if you do the search like you did, you'll see an area just at the top which says 'Models' and then 'Users' click on the Users section and you'll see my page. There are no spaces just like you have there. MakerWorld recently changed their reward system, it's not quite as good for bigger creators, and apparently better for smaller ones, in any case, it's still working it just seems to be accumulating points a bit slower than before.
@@NeedItMakeIt Oh, thank you. I didn't expect you to reveal your email address. I've got a few projects that I think are pretty good and thought I'd send you some pics from time to time. For me, it's all about function. I'm not into printing trinkets.
I have some but it's white... terrible. I'll order some gray or black. I was also thinking about using silicone and spreading it on the bottoms. Or maybe those rubber stick on pads?
@@NeedItMakeIt You could probably make a mould for placing silicone on the bottom of the feet. It would require accurate measurement of the silicone, though, to do well. Otherwise it would be a good use case for two-filament printing - if your printer can handle TPU in this case, which the Bambu Lab AMS cannot (at least officially). 3D printing isn’t quite there yet, but at least it is progressing.
To be honest, I don't understand how they can keep this going. I am at the point where I am building up more gift cards then I can reasonably spend. I am seriously thinking about making a business as I am having more BL printers and BL filament than I can reasonable use for personal use.
Yeah man. Honestly I think it would be more than wise to grind as hard as we can for points because I feel like this entire system will be taken down or at least made a lot harder
@@NeedItMakeIt yea, without the last underscore. The models I have uploaded is quite simple. Mainly hueforge art, and some halloween themed models. I haven't really had time to model in the past few months so my point history is declining. But due to the amount of models I have uploaded in the past I still gain a nice amount of points monthly.
To be honest they're the first company that "seriously" tries to create an eco system that every "average" user that is interested in 3d printing can use. Like the first inkjet printers for home usage back in time. IF they manage to do that their business will be valuable that it was worth all the investment. Just with printing hardware this wouldn't be possible. These one click prints from the app and that people spend time to optimize designs and profiles are a major key for it to be possible. Without such rewards i would design way less and not go sometimes through multiple iterations before i publish something. Unlike printables or other platforms they make sure that the time and material of the designers is compensated at least a good bit. At least for me a Bambu is the first printer i would recommend a random friend that isn't into machines at all, without having to fear that he'll call me every weekend to fix issues.
Makerworld requires an account to download models, and also spits out files that can only be opened by Bambu Studio. If only for that, I'm sticking with Printables. Plus, being based in Europe, I don't have to complain about delays or shipping costs.
Accounts make sense because they had to deal with bot downloading and other frauds. But you can download files that can be opened with other slicers - a few designers might just not upload them. Usually it asks during the upload process to also upload "generic" files which then work in any slicer. Bambu actually also has warehouses in Europe that they ship from.
The 3MF files I have seen were set up for their printers. I don’t know if you can upload a 3MF for another type of printer. You can upload other file types, though. STLs etc. This is what I uploaded there.
Thank you for this Video. I already uploaded some model there. I wanna know how I can get people to find and download my models because for now I just got a few (maybe 2) downloads per model.
If you have a RUclips channel that's a good way, if not, learn how to create a GIF and use that as one of your images, it'll help to draw some attention. Aside from that, a bit of luck and some skill, like anything.
@@an_o_ia If only they weren't so grainy, but at least they do a good job of showing that it is that your print can do. If you can make a video to go with it and post it to YT that's good as well.
I really like MakerWorld so far, I was able to get enough points for one gift card (working on #2), and got myself a textured PEI plate. Cost me like $8 cause I was short with only one gift card. *Free is nice though!
As more people jump over, it should continue to grow as well. I think they'll change the way their points work, because it seems as through they would be losing money on it. I can't be sure, but I've now cashed in for 7 cards, and I've only posted I think three models. It's great to not have to worry about conserving filament like I was though. So far I've only seen a couple of negative thoughts on the MW process, they relate more to distrust and sharing of information etc.
Wow. Bambu labs crushing it on another level than just technical sophistication. The Chinese beating the Czech??? America not even on the field unless you could formlabs. The 21st century is gonna be weird
It certainly creates a big incentive to switch over. It's a bit messy with all of this print profile stuff, I'm not into that myself. But it's nice at least to get something back for putting all of the work into designing something and going through the testing and tweaking processes. I figure that Prusa will make the appropriate adjustments to be more competitive.
@@NeedItMakeIt i uploaded a few of my models after watching your video. I totally agree on the print profile, its an attempt at 3d printing for dummies but not being a dummy i never use it. Too much time and energy investment NOT to set up the profile myself.
@@legionjames1822 I tried it for the first time yesterday and it was a little bit annoying, having to upload images of the final prints and all, but I guess that's to prevent people from using bots and makes it so one needs to truly test the prints first. Great video, I'm an industrial designer and artist thats also here in Ontario. I might upload a couple files knowing thag I can potentially get a gift card. Thanks
It seems to be in the range of 25+ / day. Since making the video I was able to cash in again, but this time they were low on stock for PETG, so I ended up going with one PETG Basic Black, and the others are PETG-CF
Are you saying you got all that stuff because of print ideas you sent it to Maker's World? I realize that the standard is probably quite high, but still. That seems quite generous. By the way, the usual Subscribe button is not showing on my screen, so I just clicked the little bell. I can't imagine why they would remove the button.
That's correct, they've since changed the formula it seems in favor of helping to promote smaller creators with good ideas, but it still works. I think I've been on for about 5 months now and I have been able to accumulate nearly 1K CAD for filament and parts. We'll see how much their changes impact things, since it seems to have slowed a bit. The way it seems to work is that we post designs, people download them, and they need the filament and printers to do so. Bambu gets some of those sales, I'm making assumptions, since I don't have the data to back it up.
@@billbyrd9845 The tradeoff of course is that you're putting your hard work out there for anyone to take, and on occasion your parts will be taken without permission. It has happened to me, but it's pretty rate.
It’s fine and nice as long as you live in somewhere that despite being among the ten greatest economies of the world is classified by the company as “Other” and not supported in any form.
I can't say for certain, but when looking at Global (Other) free shipping for standard shipping times is still free over the minimum value. The only way to truly find out if it works is to plug in your address and see what it says. Have you experienced issues from Maker World for free shipping?
@@VGPbr When you order from their online shop it is global, so far as I know. New Zealand isn’t anywhere near the top of the economic rankings, and we’re adjacent to penguins rather than any of the larger countries.
@@NeedItMakeIt it's because they are junk, I couldn't get them to stay on, they slipped off if I opened the door too quickly, did any maintenance, or sometimes when removing the build plates. @@yeabutwecouldbefreer I initially had that experience, but they're supposed to be pushed in hard, they're a very tight fit. At first I wasn't sure, but having designed my own feet, I had a bit of an idea of what would make a good fit and pushed harder and they are in there and they are not coming out. Any chance you can dumpster dive? :) So far they seem to work well, but I have to put them through their paces to be sure. I have some previous videos testing my own anti-vibration Bambu skewer legs, and the quality didn't improve, nor did it suffer. It did however reduce the amount of vibration on the workbench that I was able to feel, I suppose that's a plus at least.
It probably plays into that whole BOT issue, they'd probably want to make sure that everyone is a real person, or at least an advanced sentient AI that enjoys 3d printing. I had an account already thanks to having the X1C, but that's a good point, there are people who won't want to use it just for that reason.
And that is part of why they give (ridiculous amounts - or at least that's how it seems) of stuff for free. Users and user data. *Loads of* both. I just wonder where *funding* for all free stuff comes from? If Prusa is cutting rewards, maybe to keep them sustainable, what's the deal with Bambu Lab? Profit from printers (with A1 I don't think so)? Another part of course is death match for world domination 😬 - at least in 3D-printable models. Why bother with any other site when Bambu Lab pays you? But does payment model generate _original designs_ or bloom of _remixes from other sites and inside MakerWorld_ (free stuff, zero effort)? Was there talks about Bambu Lab importing models from other sites and generating accounts - without asking the creators? And copying Printables design?
@@kimmotoivanen It's hard to know what's going on behind the scenes, is it just one company wanting to be the best, or maybe more. It won't be long before AI will be able to generate 3D models itself and then anything which is not a technical model requiring accuracy will be automated. Meshy is a good example, it has come a long way, but it's still not quite good enough. As Image generation gets better and many angles of an object can be formed, 3d models can become better as well. It's hard to say exactly where all of this will lead, only time will tell. For me, I can only trust that a company's main goal is to be profitable without that, there is no company afterall.

I only own Prusa, but it's sad how Bamboo feels like a more well-established company that's been around a lot longer than Prusa, despite Prusa being around for 10 years. I don't feel like I matter to Prusa.
True. I returned my A1 mini and bought a Bigger A1. It's gonna replace all my printers. I only need 1 working machine, but I used to have 3 ender clones because sometimes one would stop working. So when the 3rd would stop working I would take a day and repair all printers, sometimes it took 2 days depending on what broke, this is gonna save me lots of time.
Also it is faster, higher quality and JUST WORKS. I love Open Source, and it was important for 3D printing to get it mainstream. But honestly if you open source anything anyways you don't have much insentive to develop if your competitor just steals it. So I kinda get why bambulab is doing it like they do.
Holy Moley! Nice going. I think I've been on for 2 months now, but that's great. Is your name on Maker World the same as above, I'll check out some of your work. I still think that the plan is to get everyone to jump over and then stop giving as much away, but we make hay while the sun shines as they say.
@@NeedItMakeIt Thanks. It's just KiCkiN on MW. But my "skill" is lacking and it shows, especially compared to someone with your skill. I'm trying to learn more every day though. Actually my wife and I are both learning and some of the models were done by her. Most of our models are just simple "filament saving" ammo cases that we make for local hunting clubs. The clubs get together and let disabled children/teens/adults come and hunt/shoot and teach them about the outdoors in general. They'll then add the person's name to our case designs and let them keep the cases to take home with them. It's a pretty neat program. I fully agree with you about MW's plan. I don't think they'll be able to sustain this level of free items forever. I do hope I'm wrong though.
@@OhImKiCkiN Well, if it has a function, I like it. It sounds like a pretty good project and adds value to people's lives. Which software are you two using? I've been hoping to hear some stories from people about any negatives, but so far I haven't seen any come in.. maybe there just aren't too many of them. Keep it up, as far as my skill level, I've been doing this for a very long time, but I know some people that can completely blow me away, best thing to do to start out is to keep it as simple as possible, get the function right and then work on the form a bit to refine it. That's something I know I struggle with sometimes, we want to make it look good from the start, but it ends up consuming so much time if the structure needs to be adjusted later on.
@@NeedItMakeIt We use Onshape and Fusion. I prefer Fusion and my wife prefers Onshape. As far as MW negatives, I haven't really had any personally. But a friend of mine got banned for a month. I cant say with certainty that he was innocent, but I don't see him doing that, let alone for just a few downloads. He didn't even have any points yet. Before his month ban was up he was perma-banned and given the same reason. He submitted a ticket and they refused to reverse the decision stating that they knew that he was using bots and he violated their terms. Thanks, that's great advice, and I need to follow that flow. Hey that's cool too. I think that's a big one for a lot of people. The entire reason these manuf. have fast printers is because of the option source nature, Klipper Voron etc. Without those, we'd still be printing with an SD card at 50mm.
Printables took the concept from Thingiverse, and monetized it did they not? Now that Printables only have one free spool per order, it's not worth the effort, they need to do more to compete. Competition is good for the consumer, so I hope Printables can do more to stay in the game.
@@NeedItMakeIt what? Thingiverse did not offer to get free filament or a free printer as a reward. Of course they should compete more. But makerworld did not only copy that festure from printables. It‘s a complete straight copy. I mean in my opinion. Bambu is not a good company with pantenting more and more open source. But nobody cares and all are happy and not caring about data issues any more. Of course there are the smartphones, home assistants who always listens ans so it is ok to send all data to china. Yeah. Just consume without thinking. What a brave new world.
Everyone copies everyone within the 3DPing game, competition breeds innovation and im sure that the existence of Makerworld has placed at least some semblance of pressure on Prusa and Printables, as the existence of Bambu Labs as a whole likely has, and im sure that has lead to at least some changes already and potentially further changes in the future In short, if copying is that offensive to you. 3DP is not the game to be in.
@@ThatsNotMyArm YES! Every company should have competition. It'd be like having a sport, but there is only one player. "I am the best"... yes you are the only person, so by default you must be the best. If Prusa wants to stay in the game, they'll make some adjustments and come back stronger. I'd like to see that happen. For now, Maker World is doing a better job and people will jump over. I'm making about 25 -50 points a day, which means for me that I don't need to buy the filament for all of these videos. It's not Prusa quality, but it's pretty close.
@@ThatsNotMyArm then you didn‘t understand me. I‘m not against copying open source. That is what everyone did so far. But copying open source and making it closed source through patents like bambu is doing it and will do in the future is not ok.
Can you give an example of something you had problems with? I was just having a look at Printables, and it looks like they're trying to refresh their site a bit, hopefully they can make it a bit more competitive. I have 4K points there, and maybe I can save up for a printer instead of using it for filament?
With the amount personal information that the printers upload to Bambulab, they should provide their customers at the very least one free spool every 6 months.
And that's why you need to use Express VPN, Express VPN protects you against.... just joking, although It's probably a good idea to have something to protect our identities better. Companies find ways of using this info in order to take advantage of us.

I think you missed the point I was making in the video, but I don't gather that you care, you'd just rather try and bring people down. Bringing people up is a great way to feel better about yourself too and it's just better to be around people like that. Some food for thought, have a great life.
It's a nice little unit, the middle is open and you can swipe up easily and there is room for the charging cable. It's well thought out and to me it looks really good. I like this style, I may have to adopt some of this style for my own prints.
That's why the card is 55$, and free shipping at 60$+. Incentivize people to buy just a little something extra on top of the gift card to get that free shipping.
with no other shenanigans going on (and it seems that way) i am ok with that.
What I really like is him talking about Bambu whole video, and then printing things on K1😂

Don't worry the A1 will immolate itself anytime now so you wont have to worry about clogs with it 😂@@Immolate62

@@NeedItMakeIt Yeah the fact the team actually took down the offending design was great. Really important for building a good maker community.
@@mobiobione Same! ;)
The Rod Sloth shown in the start of this video is a fantastic tool. My suggestion is to print three so you can clean all three rods at the same time.
@@NeedItMakeItfelt like that was similar to printables. Make the rewards high at the start basically paying more for CAC to build the platform.
The most impressive parts of it is printing with K1 max with no ringing/ghosting. My K1 is a ringing machine lol
sidebar: Yes you can use the gift card for shipping and buying anything from the store, best thing is it keeps all other discounts, so any buy 2 or buy 3 discounts on filament are kept and this is off of the total like cash. I was worried they might cancel out any discounts but they stayed.
I saved up for over a year on Printables to get the 3 pack of filament, but I saw it was missing from the options a few months ago. Thankfully it came back, so I was able to order my discounted prusament :)
I cant upload to maker world each time I try to upload any format of file it says Digital file upload failed. :(

I spoke too soon, 5 seconds later in the video you mention that you may have gotten even better results if you took the time to calibrate. :)
In rewards you can pick 3 spools at once for 1k points i believe
Hi, nic video. you look and sound genuine. How one can start doing 3d modelling for makerworld as a newbie to the platform?
When did you start uploading? Just interested how long it took you to get all the points.
I think about 3 months ago. I should say that I think I have a slight leg up because of my YT channel. I didn't really intend it that way, normally I just make designs to help people solve problems and post them for free, this is a nice kick-back though.
That's definitely a better deal, let's see how long it sticks around though... hopefully printables will loosen their grip on the rewards stuff before all the value on Maker World goes away.. but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see
Can I receive goods while living in Georgia?(country)
Shall I sell the maker world design into e-commerce platform??
At what speed you print with PETG? those are good looking results!
It looks like for the walls it's in the range of 230-240mm/s infill is quite a bit faster.
Would you also be able to get a free printer? And how did you get so many points?
I'm new to Maker World. I did a search there for models by NeedItMakeIt and nothing came up. How can I see your models there? Thank you.

TPU feet would be really nice on those phone mounts.
I have some but it's white... terrible. I'll order some gray or black. I was also thinking about using silicone and spreading it on the bottoms. Or maybe those rubber stick on pads?
Actually, I've used hot glue for making sticky feet on phone stands.... it works really well too. @@NeedItMakeIt
@@NeedItMakeIt
You could probably make a mould for placing silicone on the bottom of the feet.
I think that you bought the extra printer feet just so you had an excuse to buy another one😂 and great video!
Looked like a nice tool - Gave you a follow on MW.
LOL, that's awesome for you! Is your name the same on MW as here? I'll check out your stuff.
@@madness3D_ Looks like some quality stuff, I haven't tried hue forge yet, but I like the possibilities that it opens up.
@@boggisthecat 3mf files from Fusion or 3mf files that are exportet as "generic" from Bambu Studio work for all printers and slicer.
@@NeedItMakeIt Thanks, I never thought about including GIFs before
@@an_o_ia If only they weren't so grainy, but at least they do a good job of showing that it is that your print can do.
@@legionjames1822 I tried it for the first time yesterday and it was a little bit annoying, having to upload images of the final prints and all, but I guess that's to prevent people from using bots and makes it so one needs to truly test the prints first. what is the rate of points you get?
@@NeedItMakeIt Thank you for the response. That's very encouraging and I can see how it's a win/win.

Have you experienced issues from Maker World for free shipping?

sending two sets of anti vibration feet is how they get you :P
All anti vibration feet come in doubles
Yeah, I went back to look and I didn't see that it was a double pack, do you think that's because they wear out, or some other reason?
@@NeedItMakeIt it's because they are junk, I couldn't get them to stay on, they slipped off if I opened the door too quickly, did any maintenance, or sometimes when removing the build plates. Some people say they are good now, but mine just went in the bin, and I got myself a 16x16 paver which seemed to work just as good
@@yeabutwecouldbefreer I initially had that experience, but they're supposed to be pushed in hard, they're a very tight fit.
I wish Makerworld would allow downloads without making an account like Printables and Thingverse.

Keep it up, as far as my skill level, I've been doing this for a very long time, but I know some people that can completely blow me away, best thing to do to start out is to keep it as simple as possible, get the function right and then work on the form a bit to refine it. Printables took the concept from Thingiverse, and monetized it did they not? Now that Printables only have one free spool per order, it's not worth the effort, they need to do more to compete. Competition is good for the consumer, so I hope Printables can do more to stay in the game.
