I think this is a really good specs review but in real life the R6II performs significantly better. The R6II new sensor is MUCH sharper for both photo and video, the AF in the R6II is much stickier and you can feel in real life it is definitely faster, but no surprise there as it has the R3 focusing system and processor. The battery life is more around 1200 photos per battery with the R6II (around 20% more than with R6 with the same battery) while the R5 is more around 800. Also some key things got skipped, the R6II no longer has the 30 mins recording limit, and it does not overheat at 4K 25 anymore. I just sold my R5 and R6 to get 2x R6II because it is that much better and faster. NO right or wrongs of course, but 90% of users (except the ones need the DCI option) the R6II is a significantly better deal for much less.
I have been planning on getting an r6mkii and this comment is spot on, I have been researching cameras for over 2 months now and I felt like this video skipped over a lot of important details that are mentioned by other reviews and gives only on paper performance without much testing in real life.
@@allthingsbrazil nothing wrong with that. I have done a while wedding on 2x R6II and I am blown away, buy you do you :) You might need the 45mpx, or might just want it, the beauty of it you can do whatever you prefer

With the R5-MkII on the way, if anybody is considering buying the R5, it might be a good idea to wait. My budget was around the R6-MkII range, and when holiday sales rolled out, I found it for $500 less than the normal price. That made it less expensive than the original R6 while having many improvements. The R5 has already been marked down $900 from it's original price, but look for more savings on the R5 in the 2024 holiday season.
The AF on the R6ii blows the R5 away. As an example I shot 700 wedding photos on R6ii and not one was out of focus. The R5 has slower AF and 45mp slower processing. Can’t wait for the R5ii.
I’ve had the R5 for a couple years and am in need of a second body to take as a backup when doing photo tours. With the exception of the LCD display on the top, it looks like the buttons and dials on the R6 are very similar. What are your thoughts on getting an R6 as a backup to my R5?
The one comparison left out is price. The R5 is overall a better camera, at 45MP I would prefer that, but for $1000 less, the r6 mark II is a better option for everything it offers.
This video is very handy and I really appreciate the help. I mainly do event photography especially in dark areas so knowing that the r6 mii is better in low light actually is what sold it for me
I sold my R5 in 2023 due to financial issues but I'm in a place where I wanted to get the R5 back so I started doing research since I heard the R6 was a good contender. I loved my R5 but went with the R6 MKII because I was able to get a refurbished from Canon for $1700. I can't wait to try it out and see how good it is in comparison. I plan on using it until the R5MKII comes out.
The r5 Will switch so much faster between photo/video using the m-fn button. It’s a completely different level of speed and the reason I sold my r6 mkii for an r5 instead.
I love both of the cameras, but from all the testing I saw they are five actually does a little bit better in lower light…. Maybe the noise is smaller, because of a higher resolution.
R5 is a better hybrid camera. R5 let’s you record video while in photo mode by hitting the record button. The mode button lets let’s you switch from photo to 3 custom video modes. R6 can’t do this.
apprecaite the review here, but was hoping to get a bit more info re: AF than 'you wont be dissapointed in either'. apparently the R6II has a much improved system on par with the R3, but was hoping to get an idea of 'real-world' performance here.
The R5 actually outperforms the R6II in low light. In theory, the lower-res sensor would be better, but not in this case. DXOMark is a great website for checking actual sensor performance.
