Hmm, looks like the spring rates are a little bit on the high side for TMP's surface. We settled on 11.6K and 7K, which is around 2.5HZ if I recall. This should be ideal for the NC with grippy track tires, but it is on the firmer side if the intended course is very rough. Dave sent us a note saying that he needed to run the dampers on the softer side for TMP as well, so that further indicates just how rough this track really is. Dave, take me out there next time! I gotta see this place in person! Looking forward to future track tests of this car on other race tracks as well! -Grant
With a proper rear ride height and some other small tweaks in the alignment/dampers this thing will probably see 1:17s tbh. Such a cool, quick, and simple build for a track day car. Loved this series boys! Definitely makes me want to get rid of my NB and pick up an NC.
Long time viewer here, but i started skipping a few SA videos since its just endless bolt on of parts and no driving. This was refreshing, and a cool build, i hope we will see more of it !
This is the new dream build for the NC! Thank you for doing such a solid job and taking it to the track to shake it down. You’re making me want to risk it all and do this to my NC in California :/. Was previously thinking of doing the carb legal turbo kit thats coming from flying miata but nothing beats that sound, revs and response of an NA motor. Looking forward to many more videos with this car!
Awesome build guys, love the end result. I just wish we had a better selection of tracks to drive here in Canada. TMP is fine... but that's just it... it's fine. We have some much room and unused land here, yet nothing resembling our own Nordshleife.
I know in the engine install episode they mentioned keeping the factory oil pump with balance shaft in the motor to keep NVH / secondary vibrations down for the daily crowd to be happy. But part of me also feels like if you do a final drive adjustment you’ll be spending a lot more time in the high end of the rev range and could use the reassurance of something like a 4Piston ported pump to eliminate potential oil starvation issues as a litte extra insurance for the motor.
I think the fact that this motor is so refined in this chassis is amazing! Would love to build this as a street version, but then I just see wasted potential. Almost, why for the street when you can't use it to potential. Then I think, for the street, why not just keep the stock motor and have fun. I am now tired from arguing with myself! Great build, guys! As always!
How is it when I lived in Toronto I had no idea you guys existed, and now that I moved to the East Coast I found your channel. Happy to be watching at least haha
If honda and mazda ever did a collab , like bmw and toyota did ... man, they would desecrate all sports cars. I truly believe this ... and like I said when ya first started this build ... the k and the NCIS like the best combo you can make ATM .. tbh I did not even think about it either, but also, the nc is the "biggest" of the miatas ,and I truly believe that that makes for a perfect combination for power to weight to grip .. it's a masterpiece... The only other thing it needs is a nice snail on it to take ya to the moooooooooooon 😅.. peace and love, guys , keep it rad, stay safe, and build.. l8r famz
As a Mustang owner, no offense was taken to that pass. We all have to respect one another on the track when it comes to passing! Love that body color on the Miata! Nice choice with the Dark Horse 🤝
If you guys are using poly exhaust hangers, I had insane resonance when using them on my NB, going back to the stock hangers fixed it I would love to hear the difference with just your rear carpet reinstalled
😂😂😂 I just watched the swap vid and almost commented on the exhaust droning hard still.. cue interruption 😅. Inspiring build though! This stuff gives me drive to get in the garage 👍
Now that the NC Chassis has been developed and is available to the public I guarantee you that Kpower are going to start working on a complete swap kit for the ND it’s just a matter of being patient
Awesome build, very tempting. You guys should do a quarter mile drag run. Wondering if it's faster than my supercharged nd. Pulled off a 13.8 on drag strip.
Great video! Looking for my NC right now. Have you guys or anyone else had issues taking the PRHT with roll bar to the track? Not passing the broomstick test?
A beautiful build that also hauls @ss. A great example of an approachable NC project. The poor audio wasn't really that bad to me, and didn't detract from a great episode.
Man that car is quick, that engine is what the Miata needs.
13:09 spitting flames!
Lightweight is king for fun in a car. People underestimate that
We all need a cost breakdown for this build. Might just sell my NA to get a NC Miata now.
My guess is the 20k mark for mods
Get an nb! I’ve had 2 NBs and a turbo NA Miata and if I’d have to do it again I would just get another nb they are the best generation
@@johncanale345420k plus just for the swap parts, plus the engine, then start on mod costs
Your na might pay for the k swap if its a nice one
The kit, that is
Hell yeah! I know track test videos don’t get as many views but I have missed this type of old school SA content.
🤞 for more like this!
100%
Wow the NC aged really well. It’s become one of the best looking Miata’s in my opinion. 😮
@@Savorychicken41 that's why I bought mine..... 10 years ago! Love my NC
especially with those wheels and stance, looking tough
Naw the NB looks better overall. This particular NC looks good with the paint and setup etc. but stock vs stock NB all day
@@cyz44yeah, the nc needs to be lowered a bit to look really good

These are my favorite videos from you guys. Love the track days.
Between this kit and the new FM turbo, the NC is finally getting the attention it deserves.

The track test videos are great, i miss seeing these pop up after builds & general track tests are great too, keep up the great work guys 👍🏽

I love this build and that you're getting more track time. So stoked!
13:08 flames!!!!
So good to see you guys back on the track, hope you had a blast as usual !👍
Loved that last lap with the beemer..... hehehe
Love when my weekend starts with the SA Theme horns
Track test videos are what I'm watching this channel for. Satisfied.
LOVE the track test videos! I love everything about this car, and the color was a fantastic pick.
Thank you guys for going back to your roots! This content is what makes Speed Academy great!❤
Awesome build guys, love the end result.
I just wish we had a better selection of tracks to drive here in Canada.
TMP is fine... but that's just it... it's fine. We have some much room and unused land here, yet nothing resembling our own Nordshleife.
How are these guys not at 3 million followers already!!!!!🎉
You did that time on those tires too. 1.5 sec9nds worth of time going yok a052, re71rs, even falken rt660.
nice little chop at the end!

IN-SANE! A 1:20 is so fast as a baseline for this new build, well done! Love to see you thrashing your cars instead of just working on them! 🤞for more
It’s cool that once you have the initial setup paid for, buying an engine or transmission won’t be that expensive

I am now tired from arguing with myself! Great build, guys! As always!
Amazing build and hydraulic steering!
very cool build! Love it! I'm a big Miata fan (drive an NB2 on summer days) but I also love Honda's older powertrains. What a cool mix.
This Miata is such a beast!! So impressed with how well it did! K series in a Miata chassis is so sick!
MiataRoadster shift kits are amazing if you are looking to improve the stock trans feel. 100% worth it.
S2000 wants to have a word with you guys. Joking, love the Miata. K-swap the world!
I’d love another series on this car on further development, maybe some drop in cams? ITBs?
Can we take a moment to appreciate the content these guys provide us? Long live Speed Academy.
Great to see another Miata on the track! I’m close to tracking my NB! This gives me inspiration
Back to the great old style ‘Speed Academy’ content. Looking forward to the cars development. Superb. Costings would be v interesting too.
Nice work guy's, always good to see you ripping tech at tmp🤟
Sorry I'm late. Just got done watching Gears and Gasolines hour long video.
Is legitstreetcars next?
Came from LSC and will watch G&G next after this.
Im gonna watch that after this video.
A great platform that NC Miata is. Anyone can build up a great sportscar or track-toy car out of it without much money.
How is it when I lived in Toronto I had no idea you guys existed, and now that I moved to the East Coast I found your channel. Happy to be watching at least haha
In my mind, the Miata as always been a 240whp is perfect car…
And this comes real close and does it NA.
imagine a K20C1......thanks for doing this build~!!!
I love this idea! I do wonder what a less track-focused build could do.
I absolutely need a confetti SA hat now 🎉. Also the Miata was blistering fast, this is by far your best build ❤.
Possibly the best build I have ever seen. 🤓
If honda and mazda ever did a collab , like bmw and toyota did ... man, they would desecrate all sports cars. The ride height looks awesome 😎
K24 Frankenmotors can work well in anything!!
Thank you for the track rips video! It's been too long!
Nice little rip down Ridge Road
Such a timely series now that I have an NC. Probably won't k-swap it... yet.
Put a small piece of fuel line in the shift knob and it won't vibrate loose anymore
Love these track builds, would be nice to see you guys make a prelude track car
I'm tired of these damn videos. I want to buy every car you guys build. you're killing me!
As a Mustang owner, no offense was taken to that pass. We all have to respect one another on the track when it comes to passing! Love that body color on the Miata! Nice choice with the Dark Horse 🤝
Great video guys ! Car sounds and looks awesome well done on the track !keep up the great videos
11:00 It looks right, though. 👌
Love your content guys! K swap the world!
Finally some track content!
Entertaining as always.
The end of that video 😂 the bmw was pushing so hard not to be overtook. lol
one of your best builds, love it !
Really nice build guys! Can’t wait to see how this car does went you work out the kinks
What a fantastic build!
You guys should try the Fifty Road escarpment run, the McNeilly hill is really steep and short. Also in Grimsby, the Woolverton hill is pretty fun too
You guys made the bmw and the mustang nervous
The Mustang guy kept his cool, but they definitely caught the BMW trying to drive with his mirror lol
Such a beast! Great job guys!
DP bullying that poor M2 in the outro. M2 no idea how to deal with the murderous grin of an NC filling their mirrors. 😂
Praise Jesus - a speed academy build that sees the track. Just like the old days ❤
A 6 speed would do wonders for this car!!
You can install a k20z3 oil pump from a 08 civic si has the balance shafts and can rev up to 8k rpm
just a good car love this build my new favorite i think
Owning a lap timer and saying you won’t time a lap is exactly how you end up timing laps 😂 love this build!
Also even if the NC is faster, the asS2000 will forever have a home in our hearts
If you guys are using poly exhaust hangers, I had insane resonance when using them on my NB, going back to the stock hangers fixed it
I would love to hear the difference with just your rear carpet reinstalled
Is this going to be a Gridlife Touring Cup car?? We need some DP ripping TEC in GLTC!
Amazing videos fellas! Such a nice car 👌🏾
😂😂😂 I just watched the swap vid and almost commented on the exhaust droning hard still.. cue interruption 😅. Inspiring build though! This stuff gives me drive to get in the garage 👍
Is this the perfect lapping track car? Mazda chassis and Honda power? I think so.
Top notch.
You sure are giving some ideas. Have a ND but need to get that fix for a K engine
Now that the NC Chassis has been developed and is available to the public I guarantee you that Kpower are going to start working on a complete swap kit for the ND it’s just a matter of being patient
Ring and Pinion swap would really wake this car up!
Would be very interested to see a very similar 3rd gen mr2 build with a 2zz swap to see how they compare
Put the AC on, DP!!
Damn this is awesome! I kinda what to do the same but the k24 with k20a cams on an ND miata.
It really needs a small responsive turbo
She rips!
i would love to see the digital camo SA hat in a trucker style hat
That thing is awesome
Time to get looking for a miata or BRZ with a blown engine😂😂
I would be really curious to see how this stacks up to a 2.5 swap in terms of cost for performance.
that beamer sweating bullets lmaoo
wow, congrats!
A beautiful build that also hauls @ss. A great example of an approachable NC project. The poor audio wasn't really that bad to me, and didn't detract from a great episode.
@speedacademy. How does it compare to your old S2000 built in the old shed?
Dp, your forearms are looking beefy bro like Popeye
Great series guys! DP how dare you insult the "mini F-1" sound of the K-series. lol
