I just want to mention that the color ways on this NC kit are not finished. This kit was a from scratch development and we had an issue with our anodizer and not all the parts were completed in time 😅. The good news is we were able to build the correct amount of front and rear stroke needed for this car (verified with 3D cad modeling) and were able to let them test our new double digressive valving. I hope all of the hard work pays off. Looking forward to your driving impressions guys!
It's massive. First thing I do with all rx8s I flip is tear off any coilover with the short rear and get a set of oem or oem/bilstiens back on em. Great job designing a bespoke tower for the chassis. Would you run a slightly stiffer spring on the same shock valving for the se3p chassis?
I really enjoy those new style of clips where you show how to pull out bushings and put in the new ones. Also, deep dive installation snippets. It makes the entire build so much more personal and disclosed.
Hope you guys take us along to track time you actually take this to. I’m know you’ve said those vids don’t do as well in regards to views but some of us are still interested. Even if it’s a low effort from a production value point of view.
This NC is going to be your best track build. Even though I love all the other Miata chassis, I know the NC is probably the best Miata platform for a serious build. It's just so ROBUST!
Yeah, I feel like the big con of this conversion is that most of the components aren't strictly upgrades, they're just re-engineering things that already existed. Nobody would argue a K24 Miata isn't a good idea, but is it as fun/capable for S2000 money?
@@ftovr2957 Yeah with all the parts they've put on this car it'll probably preform better than a stock s2000 and there's plenty of room for power with the k24. On top of that because you're dealing with a Miata there's an endless aftermarket and you don't have to pay the increased prices that come with an s2000. The two places where it looses are looks and cool factor the s2000 looks way better than the Miata imo and the s2000 is cool in a way the a Miata just isn't.
I think the 2.5 duratec swap is much more on the budget side than this k24. Yes it doesnt rev as high, but with cams and exhaust you can have 200+ whp and loads more torque
i had a fab9 turbo NC2 miata that made 300whp, had it for 2 years super reliable, super fun! my hunt for more power had me sell it. I wish I kept it as a dedicated track car instead. but money sucks lol
The bar you were using is an engine support bar. The manufactures put in specific pry points to use so you don't mangle the pan. I have one of those gasket scraper tools and I love it, those scrapers have a piece of carbide on the end which is what gives you the tough durable sharp edge.
I'm sure it will be addressed eventually, but definitely need to swap both front and rear wheel bearings with RX8 parts. Both have a reputation for failing on track with hard use, with generally very bad consequences.
Fixing that car is a massive project. As much as I’d like to get something to market I personally am not willing to release something that I wouldn’t be willing to run myself 😅. The good news is our engineering ability just increases year over year so when we are able to complete it we will be able to utilize the tools and skill sets we’ve developed like 3D scanning to come up with even better out of the box solutions to unique projects. This NC kit we built for Dave and Pete is an example of this!
Hello! As an EP3 owner let me point in the direction of: RUclips search for "MotoIQ EP3 suspension" and you should find a video from about 6 years ago, with Mike Kojima at the helm, sorting out ALL of the EP3 suspension fixes - maybe that helps you out in the meantime?
Checking online prices, $10k for a Miata. I bought my NB for 2k in 2017. So grateful buying her before C-19. People, holdout until the market goes down.
Guys you should have gone for ep3 oil pump, its power release and oil pressure goodies, also a brand new unit.. balance shafts can broke because ages and high duty track life, also sae30 oil doesnt likes k series high rpm for mantained time (for street use is better because cold viscosity to get up to temp=less friction)
Looks like that insert on the lower balljoint attachmen allows you to change camber without changing the SAI/KPI? this will change the scrub radius. But changing camber together with KPI/SAI also changes the scrub radius, so maybe they will cancel eachother out to some degree and leave the scrub closer to where is was stock (assuming stock wheel offsetts).
I would have changed the wheel bearings all around considering the mileage and its a track weapon. Probably would have upgraded to the RX-8 bits too, being beefier.
Since you have owned an NC and RX-8 which one do you think handles better? How close can an rx-8 get to an NC weight if they are both similar equipped ?
You can put a turbo on the stock 2.0 motor for 1/3 the price of this, at least in the UK. A decent K24 in the UK is £5-6k + you have to import the $6k swap kit from KPower. So right off the bat you're 12k in the hole for something that will only get you 200WHP without FI. Add in an "OK" chassis and you're another £8k on top. £20,000. 200WHP. £100/HP. Or even better, if you want a fun car to take to the track just use the stock motor and spend the money on suspension.
Really curious about the weight distribution of the car with this engine. How close does it stay to the 50/50 weight distribution of the car with the original engine. I did a 2.5 swap with a turbo to get the same power that you mentioned. I did the 2.5 swap because the engine is only 12 lbs heavier than the OEM 2-liter engine. If I can get the 230 hp with a naturally apparated k swapped engine, I would be very interested if I can stay close to the same weight distribution that this car is known for.
I need coilovers for 08+ Dodge Avenger. I would really like to swap in a K-20, to replace the 2.4L turd, with automatic transmission it he as now. And would Love to swap in a dodge charger rear diff. With custom axels. And a 5-6 speed transmission adapted to the k-20/24 , EITHER is fine.. i was thinking 2.0L because of fuel economy. How much difference could there be with a exra 0.4L of displacement! All tho. A J-series would be a Groovy swap, 3.5L with a pair of spooling manifolds. Wet/dry intercooler, with a good cluth, hydraulic linkage and run 2.5"-3" exhaust head pipe. Into either an 'x'-pipe. or a sigle 3”withhig high flow cats ,use as many stock looking parts as possible, to look stock to a un knowing person..

I freakin hated doing my radiator on my NC when I had it. The angle they put it in combined with the AC condenser (while not trying to damage the condenser and radiator fins) made it such a pain in the ASS. Kind of a design flaw in my opinion, but probably just a skill issue
