  • @DarkMat90
    @DarkMat90 3 месяца назад +10

    As an NC owner I love the series and I'm soo jealous... especially of the wheel choice you have there on the other side of the pond!
    One small point out: forged wheels are not stronger at all, in fact they often are weaker! Bommer uh?
    That's because forging allows a better fatigue life to the matieral with respect to casting or flow forming which allows small imperfections in the material.
    Forging usually has much less imperfections, so that you can have less stiff parts (with less volume of metal) that have the same endurance and life, so they are lighter.
    Stiffness doesn't change, the material is less brittle (no cracks but deformation when you "break it").
    TE37 and CE28 are a perfect example of this: both forged, one much lighter, one much "stronger" in the meaining of how much load it can take before failing.
    The strenght only depends on the geometry, the forging increases the part life with a given geometry.
    Combine the 2 and you can have weaker geometry lasting the same of a cast design.

      @meanman6992 3 месяца назад +1

      They’re cosmetic, the diffuser isn’t doing crap, and the “splitter” isn’t doing much far from a real splitter. Some real components actually meant for aero forces and side skirts strong enough you can stand on, that jet out several inches would actually be functional. But they’re not doing that.

    There are loopholes and harmonization codes to counter the import duties, and to Canada they're not bad at all if you ship via AIR shipping. If you do ground shipping, there's a clearance entry fee and also the standard taxes based on your province. Quebec is real messy bc they have the Canadian tax plus the Quebec tax. Seen as much as 29-30% taxes, on top of import duties. It's so wild. Any way to counteract that such as your K-power partnership is 10/10

    You know what works better than the fancy carbon fiber lip (that’s not a splitter)…. A big 3/16” thick aluminum piece that bolts up to like the radiator support and such bits… just cut to shape, if it’s sticking out far enough some braces added for strength… won’t bust the first time it bumps something either.
    Same for the faux diffuser… doubt it’s actually doing anything… needs to extend much further under the car and have real vanes.

    I love you guys and appreciate everything you're doing, but Dave, I have to address something. Your comments about those Porsche and Mustang drivers on the track make people like me too intimidated to go by ourselves. I'm worried about what others think of my driving while I'm still learning. A few years ago, I took a performance driving course, and my instructor kept telling me to spot a "marker" on a certain turn. I spent all day looking for it - was it a sign on the grass? A paint mark on the curb? It wasn't until I got home and did some research that I found out it was just a discoloration in the pavement. The instructor expected me, a first-timer, to know things that take years of experience to learn. It's already difficult to build up the courage to drive a car around a track that I've invested my hard-earned money in, without being intimidated by more experienced drivers. I did learn enough to know how to clear the way for faster drivers and wave them around.
