The weird part about this channel is that I enjoyed the TommyKaira videos more than your highest viewed videos. It would be cool to see a well researched video into other tuning shops but I feel like the algorithm wants the video to have a broader title based on the views of the TommyKaira videos. If anything is to change regarding your content I hope its the titles and not the information or the way you present it. You seem extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the stuff you're teaching in each video. I can tell it takes a lot of time and effort for one of these videos. You've got me hooked, thank you for this channel.
Honestly I was really disappointed by the algorithm with my Tommykaira videos. I sunk months of time, searching, researching, collating, editing and fact checking into those. I always wondered if my thumbnail just wasn't good. My next video is heading back across to Tommykaira which Im looking forward to.... but also half expecting the algo not to push it! I would rather reach a small audience that loves my content than reach millions of people. I will keep making all of this style of content regardless of the algorithm because I am just truly passionate about this stuff.
Funny thing is in the US, the Bose sound wave/ super woofer was a common option in the Touring FD RX-7's (Type X in Japan) and most people delete them as they're quite heavy. I currently have 2 in my parts pile while I rebuild me car lol.
The super woofer is so common in the BC sold Canadian spec RX7s I have seen at least 3 sets still in there and functional. Out of like 20 ish cars in the west coast rotary club.
@@clix7925 they were a good compromise when you have no trunk space. But the low MHz response is meh at best. The drivers in these are not going to make heart thumping bass no matter what.
@clix7925 there's a reason why car audio enthusiasts say "no highs no lows must be Bose". No matter how big they tried to make those little speakers sound they don't replace an actual subwoofer.
My R32 has the “Cool Box” which is an insulated box that’s bolted in the glovebox that also routes air from the AC system to keep drinks and whatever else cold. One of my favorite obscure factory options and I love that mine has it. I do wish I could find a set of the light up quarter glass louvers for the R32. They scream peak 90s design.
Those civic bumper corners are quite popular in the UK. In fact there are so many they must have been standard on certain models. Often fitted a bit wonky. I’ve had a pulsar GTiR with optional rear brace/rollover bar, and a JDM DC2 integra R with the optional rear brace.
I hope they are not wonky from being used! That’s so funny 🤣 And amazing! I’m such a fun of the GTiR… and the DC2 Integra is my favourite Integra, nice cars. Thanks for watching 👌
@ I think they are wonky because they were probably dealer fitted options rather than factory fitted. So depending on the quality of apprentice that fitted them the wonkier or straighter they are. I think they just have a sticky back and glue on. Thanks for the original content. Best optional extra I’ve found on a JDM import was a LSD on a Del Sol SiR.
While the JDM cars on the automotive side of the internet take all the place, no one seem to really know or care about the rest of the car which I think is sad because it makes the cars more fascinating which is why we need more of this kind of video.
Mazdaspeeds touring Spec-A stuff is so awesome! ive only managed to find the front bumper, steering wheel and gear knob so far for my MX-3. but, if all goes well, i should be able to get my hands on a set of skirts around january would be awesome to see if you could maybe find some obscure MX-3 optional parts, might be cool to see in a next video

#10, the Bose system was also in the Eunos 800M (miller cycle supercharged). The large plastic front speaker pods house amplifiers that have an equaliser applied to make them sound damn good for the time. #9, the Nissan GTi-R also had an option for a factory installed umbrella ☔, and where its stored is pretty crazy!
Thanks I covered the pulsar umbrella in the first parts video, got some great info together on it. I’ve actually seen one in real life with it! Eunos 800M sounds like I need to have a look at it
I had a friend who had an 800M (Im Australian BTW) and it was pretty sick, it was kind of like one of those early, pretty huge (for Japanese) 929's, but just loaded with tech, and even though I believe it was only a 2.3 with probably a 3speed auto with overdrive, she would squat pretty darn well. I was the most awesome thing to fill with mates, do blocks and just ride around in. It's a special car for sure.

Loving these vids so much, the production quality is so good. The Honda crx catalogue is well worth checking out for optional extras. Another cool one is the hilux surf, automatic rear spoiler mirror for visibility when reversing. I think the s13 also came with a ‘super woofer’ option and the Honda bumper protectors could also be optioned on Toyotas such as the soarer and supra

Loved the video, thanks RUclips ! Haven't checked anything else so my next statement might be in vain but, I've always loved the ek's GPS option and the ek's bumper antenna option to see where the bumper further side from the driver is, if they were featured I'm sure I'll run into them whilst binge watching your videos ! Here in Europe (Spain at least) the civic bumper protector were standard in almost all civic hatch pre face lift, they are even bigger than the one you showed, horrible decision, my ej9 has them, I'm already looking for an aftermarket option without them xDD great video, nice to see this kind of content
Would love if you created a guide to JDM auctions for us Americans. I know of yahoo auctions but have never had the confidence to buy anything. What are the best sites, what to look for, any scams that are known, recommended payment options, etc. Watching your videos makes me want to find some unique parts for my Z32 ❤
My 1982 Celica Supra has the Foot Lamp on the driver side, it is green too, though it is just one small bulb. It was just called a courtesy light back then though, fades off a few seconds after closing the door.
The front hook on the ZZ looks to be on backwards as like a storage position? The hood opens up forward like a Corvette and looks to have the picture being taken from the driver's door looking in
Great work dude, loved the videos recently, some of the graphics can be a little goofy at times, and a lot of the fades/slide cuts are nice but not necessarily needed, that being said, you have an informative SOP and you know how to end the video. Keep up the great work !
70's Mazda RX's deserve a full length video, I'm not sure where I've heard it but all Mazda sports models designs where outsourced by an Italian Automobile design house and Marcello Gandini co-designed them, until the RX-7 which was Mazda in house design. Beautiful cars and would love to see a video covering them (Cosmo, R100, RX2, RX3, RX4, and RX5).
What you got me thinking of was things the Z32 Fairlady TT got in 1998 and later. That is because I was 5 when the Nissan 300ZXTT went on sale. I instantly wanted it. Turbo power sounded like magic to 80s kids. Twin turbo sounded like ultra magic to 5 year old me. When people in the USA discussed what cars can be imported and when, I frequently argued that those who wanted a 300ZXTT go get the Z32 Fairlady TT variants from 1998 or later. That way they collect them all. It may also be the opportunity to get one that is in good shape and didn't have too many crappy speed parts hacked together. One intersting thing happened in 1996. It was the last year of the 300ZXTT. They even had an edition called 300/300. It was the last 300 to roll of the asembly line. #300 was never sold. It went directly to the Yokohama Nissan museum. I often wonder if Fairlady enthusiasts try to get 300/300 parts shipped to them.
Wow just found your channel and immediately watched all the videos, love the content man. Would love to see a video related to Mugen or Spoon or more NSX stuff as im a big Honda fan. Hope to see more bangers like these!
Loving this series! One very JDM option I had on a SA60 Celica 1982 was a little scent diffuser that sat on the parcel tray. I wish I looked into it a little more at that time but I believe it used scented cartridges. I forget the name of it but have seen it on a couple of other toyota's from the era. Please look into the HB cosmo, they had some really cool features!
a couple of rare/lesser known options i can think of: The evo 9 wagon had the option for front inter cooler illumination, also the r33 skyline had a factory nissan option for the skyline logo at the back to have illumination
Subscribed. Love this content my man, thank you for putting in the research, easy to follow and very well documented! Bonus points for showing a place to find said parts today. I never knew about the FC Louvers and those are pretty cool! I'd rock 'em, maybe paint them body color 🤔
I think the superwoofer was apart of the Touring package here in the U.S. My ‘93 has it as well as the Tonneau Cover and its a really interesting design. I dont think it works anymore though and as far as Im aware there is only one person in the U.S. that rebuilds them
Back in the 80s / 90s, Mazda’s engineering team was so creative and smart to invent lots of good and high end stuff, especially looking at today’s second used condition values.
I have an 02 Suzuki Vitara 3 door and its been so much fun hunting down worldwide Suzuki optional parts and finding the catalogs from that era, also there are Suzuki Sport goodies for that era Vitara just extremely hard to come by.
Where do you find the part catalogs at? I recently purchased a low miles 1996 1jzgte non-vvti JZZ30 Soarer and was wondering what options it could have came with. Mine has the digital dash, I think the OEM green interior lighting, no trunk wing, and is a slick top. Thanks and I love your channel!
I’ve been collecting them for years digitally and physically, I thought I was the only one that found this stuff interesting haha I have a mate with the exact same car I’ll have to ask him 😁 he’s just manual swapped and is loving it! I know the SARD soarer 3000gt is a monster worth searching, he showed me the brochure the other day.
Oooh great video, this was super cool to see all these rare parts! thanks for sharing. I had an R32 Gts-t with factory gold badges, someone at the time told me it meant it was an m-spec. I never saw any evidence of that myself though, have you heard of this?
Thanks legend! One of my old GTR R34s had them. I found them in the dress up catalog, which was Nissans terminology for the ‘Non’ performance style mods. I haven’t looked for the R32 but my guess is something similar. It would look great on the 32
Exterior trunk luggage racks like the optional one for the 626 were somewhat common amongst American cars of the same time period. Buick Rivieras, Oldsmobile Cutlasses, I've even seen the fair MR2 with one. I think they're hideous, but you still occasionally see them, along with chrome trim pieces, body molding, bras, louvers... and other accessories that culminated in "Dealership Specials". I have an '89 Legend L coupe with chrome body trim and I can't wait to rip it off.
oem footlamps were offered across almost all toyotas. i retrofitted the oem kit to my zzw30, its a very subtle glow and fades out 8 seconds after door closes. also you missed the ek9 also having a factory roll cage and dry carbon rear seat delete by way of mugen.
Nice, it must be a Toyota thing. I really like it and think it’s pretty underrated. 😮😮 that’s why I love JDM so much, you think you’ve found everything just to realise you haven’t scratched the surface!
I feel that people who go for that JDM look for their Civics here in the US often has those bumper protectors. Idk i think they look kinda neat. Keep up the good work btw! Im a huge nut for JDM optional parts. I have a couple in my possession for my Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 (GTO).
If I remember correctly there was an option for rollcages from Mugen for the EF and the EG civic hatches. Just not sure if they were an accessory you bought or can be factory fitted. I know because my dad had an EG hatch for about a decade, he also had an OEM EG specific rear strut bar.
Regarding the Type R strut bars, my buddy had a mint VK(the lightened gas efficiency trim with the B15) that I was going to buy a few years ago before his "vehicles are just another appliance" type dad he was living with traded it in for a Camry on whim one afternoon without informing anyone that he planned to do so even though he knew I was looking to buy for like twice what the dealership gave him.... Anyways, before it got traded in my buddy had loaned it to me for a week for a long term test drive and I discovered it had both front and rear "Type R" strut bars, I and my buddy figured the previous owner had just gotten them out of a JC Whitney catalog or something since there was no shortage of "Type R" branded parts from no name brands floating around but after seeing this video, based on the images you showed and doing a tiny bit of digging they were the factory JDM Type R bars. Crazy, that I just now discovered this, and that someone threw them in the bare bones commuter trim. I'm also very sad now that it's not in my driveway. Oh well, I got my 98 Impreza 2 door manual to keep me happy.
I have an NA MX5. I've seen them with a rear bootlid rack but not sure if factory. There was a set of Miata MS01 for sale recently, 3 grand the set plus shipping. Love those tri-spokes, they look good on cars of this era.
i actually think the rear strut bar in the honda is quite handy. Use it to tie your shopping in place or to keep your suitcases or bag from going everywhere.
I have the strutbar for the ek. It looks gorgeous with Civic type R lettering and crome look. Only thing bothering me is that you have to cut into the plastic trim to get it to fit. Makes me wonder if the plastic had holes from factory when you chose this back in the day
You should check out the rear indiglo H emblem for the 88-91 CR-X in Japan. Total 80s cheese. but I love it. Also the storage bins for the rear seat for the CR-X. Makes your rear seat a storage area akin to the rear seat replacement storage bin equipped on the North American CRXs but much less secure.
When we were first looking at buying an fd we found one with the Bose system! It was very interesting and cool, I believe I still have photos. However we never noticed a audio difference between that and our one that we have now.
Wow someone else commented that they had it too and that they noticed very little difference to the sound. It’s such a huge amount of effort that Mazda, Efini and Bose put in to the project. Thanks for the info 👌
Got some TommyKaira R parts for my R33, if you ever need any pics or close-up of em (Tach, rear wing, rear bumper) just let me know. Additionally some nismo LCD clusters and the optional GT Auto spoiler for the R33 GTST.
The Pulsar GTi-R is such a quirky and awesome car it deserves more love and attention, but while it doesnt get all that I'll enjoy the considerably low prices asked for it ehehehe
Interesting fact: the EK/EJ civic in Europe came with built in bumper protects prior to facelift and they are huge spanning half the length of the bumpers (front and back) from each corner, only the coupe model didn't come with those prior to the facelift. So, it's pretty common for people to either remove them and fill in the bumper and paint it or find an EK/EJ coupe front bumper. One more: the EP civic again in Europe could be optioned with massive rubber bumper protectors and side protects that completely ruin the car.
waveguide bass extension speakers still are a thing! it's the same idea as bass reflex speaker boxes or the ported variant, if you make the back air volume of a speaker resonate at the right frequency, it will enhance the speaker's response to lower frequencies and give you more bass response.
13:56 Civic EK Bumper Protectors, though not the exact same part number, but similar idea, they are very common on Civic 6th gen in Europe except the facelift. They were sold like that new in Europe and you can still buy bumpers with slots where the bumper protectors go..
For the 0.00000043% of the population who will find this interesting: Those Civic Type R optional bars were a front and rear set. OEM Civic Type R had a red tube type front bar and no rear. That optional set is the same (other than the rear brackets) as the Integra Type R bars, BUT they also had a Civic Type R decal. PS: I have a set PPS: x2 on more Honda chat!
I had a '99 RX7 Type RS which came with those woofers stock. However when I purchased it back in 2022 the woofer has been taken out already so I couldn't try the system. One thing I would say is that once it is removed, if you want to use the OEM speakers with a new head unit, the amount of electrical work would be annoying since the BOSE system sucks. They require special wiring to bypass the system in order to power the OEM speakers, which are quite terrible.
dont know if you got an answer but the zz picture is from the drivers side looking through the fender to the tow hook. it has wing nuts, so im assuming youre supposed to detach it and flip it around when you need it.
*_Is there any for Nissans?! Specifically the 240s?! Im just curious 😅 im a new subscriber (watching all your videos now) & im getting a 1989 240sx. It'll be my first S chassis so im a bit excited about it & trying to learn more about the history or modifications and what not 👌🏽_*
Oh, I’m so jealous. I absolutely love a good Z. I have a close friend who had a 260Z from new! and loved it, so I’ll ask him because he’s right into OEM plus style mods.
So, for the orientation of the TommyKaira front tow hook, it looks to be set up to be swappable. Effectively youre seeing it in a stowed position, and when its needed, you would unbolt it and rotate 180 degrees. I'd imagine this is done so that it isnt protruding to clear parking lot inclines, speed bumps, etc and then can be deployed quickly for track days which require a hard-mounted tow hook.

Thanks legend. Comments like this keep me so motivated
As an OG Honda guy, i can say you are sorely mistaken how cool the bumper strips are…seriously cool points at car shows back in the day bro
Love it!
Wow I haven’t heard of those. Sounds really cool
Subscribed. Love this content my man, thank you for putting in the research, easy to follow and very well documented! Bonus points for showing a place to find said parts today.
I never knew about the FC Louvers and those are pretty cool! I'd rock 'em, maybe paint them body color 🤔
Thanks, the feedback is great.
I didn’t even think of painting them body colour. That would look fantastic.
@@JDMArchives I think these in the 15th anniversary FC, plus the louvers with the color matched white, then add some MS-01s, now we're talking!
I think the superwoofer was apart of the Touring package here in the U.S. My ‘93 has it as well as the Tonneau Cover and its a really interesting design. I dont think it works anymore though and as far as Im aware there is only one person in the U.S. that rebuilds them
This channel is amazing. Keep this up!
Nice idea! I do need some Suzuki content in my videos. Thanks for continuing to watch my content legend 👌
This is just a BackShelf member’s wet dream lmao. Love it!
I’ve been collecting them for years digitally and physically, I thought I was the only one that found this stuff interesting haha
I have a mate with the exact same car I’ll have to ask him 😁 he’s just manual swapped and is loving it!
It would look great on the 32
@@JDMArchives thanks for the reply!
Thanks for the comment, really interesting. I didn’t know it was common on some cars
I love these videos. I’m hoping for one about the z32 fair lady parts. It’s such an underrated car and has a bunch of rare options
oem footlamps were offered across almost all toyotas. i retrofitted the oem kit to my zzw30, its a very subtle glow and fades out 8 seconds after door closes.
also you missed the ek9 also having a factory roll cage and dry carbon rear seat delete by way of mugen.
Thanks for the info!
I’m glad you are enjoying the content. 👌
I used to have a set of those Mugen CF48s on my JDM 88 CR-X. My favorite wheels. Weighed almost nothing being a 14" rim.
You just earned a sub, love the video 🙏🙏
Thank you!! 🙏 glad you enjoyed
Civic SiR bumper corners are dope especially with the matching front SiR chin spoiler
in high school we found a smoke shop that sold 555. This was like 1998, in wisconsin and we were obsessed with the sti.
Wow that is so cool!
Love this video so much 😍 need more Mazda plz like eunos infini and mazdaspeed
I have an NA MX5. I've seen them with a rear bootlid rack but not sure if factory. There was a set of Miata MS01 for sale recently, 3 grand the set plus shipping. Love those tri-spokes, they look good on cars of this era.
Pretty cool you should do brand specific videos for each model. Of 80s/90’s imports.
That’s an awesome idea. I’ve been planning some specific car videos too. Thanks for watching 😊
@ I’ve got a R33 gtst so I’d be keen for that video 😍
Something cool to look at would be the Toyota Vitz TRD MSB. Stripped out 1.0L Vitz with a cage. Its the mk1 chassis also and echo and a yaris.
That’s really cool. I covered the Tommykaira Vitz in my Tommykaira videos as well. Such an interesting hot hatch.
i actually think the rear strut bar in the honda is quite handy. Use it to tie your shopping in place or to keep your suitcases or bag from going everywhere.
Genius! I love it 🤣
I’m lucky to have a pair of both the red Mazda speed seats in the FD. Absolutely love them 😊
Great video. Thanks.
That sounds classic!
Should also add to this list the optional navigation for skyline r30
I really hope you see this comment! please make a video about the rarest supra option, supra mk4 fender mirrors!
awesome video this makes me want to time travel so bad
When we were first looking at buying an fd we found one with the Bose system! It was very interesting and cool, I believe I still have photos. However we never noticed a audio difference between that and our one that we have now.
Wow someone else commented that they had it too and that they noticed very little difference to the sound. It’s such a huge amount of effort that Mazda, Efini and Bose put in to the project. Thanks for the info 👌
0:46 Giant Dad would be proud.
Got some TommyKaira R parts for my R33, if you ever need any pics or close-up of em (Tach, rear wing, rear bumper) just let me know. Additionally some nismo LCD clusters and the optional GT Auto spoiler for the R33 GTST.
Hell yeah, another obscure parts video. I wanna see some obscure cars next..
The Pulsar GTi-R is such a quirky and awesome car it deserves more love and attention, but while it doesnt get all that I'll enjoy the considerably low prices asked for it ehehehe
Hahaha that’s funny. Sometimes I think to myself, I shouldn’t mention this car and part because I want to keep it to myself and not expensive haha
Thanks for the info! I’ll have to look up some pictures of that
waveguide bass extension speakers still are a thing!
it's the same idea as bass reflex speaker boxes or the ported variant, if you make the back air volume of a speaker resonate at the right frequency, it will enhance the speaker's response to lower frequencies and give you more bass response.
Oh cool! I didn’t know that
13:56 Civic EK Bumper Protectors, though not the exact same part number, but similar idea, they are very common on Civic 6th gen in Europe except the facelift. They were sold like that new in Europe and you can still buy bumpers with slots where the bumper protectors go..
I’ve had a few comments from Europe saying a similiar thing. It’s such an usual manufacturing decision. Thanks for the info 👌
PS: I have a set
PPS: x2 on more Honda chat!
That’s awesome! Thanks for the info 👌
sick video idea man got a sub
Thanks bro 🙏👌
nice vids =) there is also a rare option of the toyota mark 2 x80 - wipers on the side windows near mirrors
I just subscribed because you asked so nicely
Thank you! Welcome to the channel
Thanks for sharing! That’s crazy that it was that much effort for something that doesn’t even work that well lol
@@JDMArchives yeah certainly. I now have a '02 RX7 and the OEM speaker systems that came with it are better than the BOSE ones.
Amazing channel
Thank you 🙏
great vid!
Thank you!
love these vids
Love these comments 😁👌
We always need more Honda ;)
We absolutely do!
dont know if you got an answer but the zz picture is from the drivers side looking through the fender to the tow hook. it has wing nuts, so im assuming youre supposed to detach it and flip it around when you need it.
The ae86 and ae85 Levin/trueno had the option a shoe box in the trunk
No way!! I have to see that
*_Is there any for Nissans?!
The toyota Starlet had front and back strut bars too. I had those
Starlet is so underrated! Nice car. Thanks for watching
9:58 my 1986.5 A70 Supra (MK3) had the green foot lamp glow as a factory option!
So cool 👌, thanks for watching 😁
the front tow hook on the ZZ is stowed backwards. you pop it off, turn it around, close the front and then it sticks out the front bumper/grill thing.
Thanks legend! I have found some pictures of it the other way now that the comments have helped me out, which is cool.
