    So i did call truhart when we bounced out of the car and they said to drive 500 miles to let it settle. In fairness, it got a little better. Secondly, the preload is not adjustable and the instructions said to keep it snug. I loosen it up and it's a lot better but it's a bouncier ride then I want

    I have the MaxpeedingRods on my 98 EK hatchback and I have BC coilovers with airbags on my 07 Chrysler 300c. Now, they're totally different cars, I know, but I have to say the MaxpeedingRods are actually decent. Especially for $240. The only thing I wish they were a bit stiffer. I have the dampers all the way stiff and they still feel soft. It's probably the spring rate.

    I recently got some of the newer T6 SP1 maxpeeding rod coilovers for my 98 CRV. Sadly... With the coilover as low as it goes without taking off the preload, its basically stock height. Big disappointment, because the build quality and the ride is great! They just don't do anything at all to the front ride height. I purchased some extended top hats to see how much lower I can get them. If that doesn't help then I basically wasted $400
    As of right now I cant recommend purchasing them, unless you want to squat your CRV, dump the back and raise the front, because that's basically all you can do with them hahaha

    • @crv_tom
      @crv_tom  10 месяцев назад +2

      Yes that definitely is the big downside although even with breaking the preload and lowering it as low as it could possibly go in the front honestly for a cheap coilover it's still Road fairly nicely down the road. One thing you can definitely do is the MPC drop Forks along with the top hats and that might give you the desired height you'd like to do. Although I do understand at that time it's almost worth just buying a better coilover after the money you would spend total.

    I bought maxpeedimg rods t6 for my rsx and they suck. They keep clunking and crackling, the fronts. I’m trying to fight with them to at least replace the two fronts but they don’t want to send them. What a waste of time and money. So I’m waiting for the truharts to get delivered.

    • @thebravoconnection946
      @thebravoconnection946 3 года назад +1

      @Alexander Sterling the back can tuck in tire, the front still had a 2 finger gap, some people end up messing with the preload to get it lower but that might prematurely wear them out. If you want to go lower without spending too much try the truharts , I never tried them but alot of people on FB crv enthusiast group seem to like them because they go low.

    I’ve got maxpeeding rods wrx coilovers on my Subaru brat and they ride like crap. It’s maybe 500 lbs lighter than the wrx but they’re bouncy, too stiff, and have basically no suspension travel. Just picked up a set of truharts for my civic and they ride much better.

    Did you say you adjusted preload on the truharts? Could it be that it was set up wrong from the factory? I’ve seen several sets of coilovers set up wrong out of the box that I can always get more compliance on.
    Just ordered truharts yesterday for my rd1. I hope they’re better than what you’re describing.

    • @crv_tom
      @crv_tom  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I was saying you could definitely try to adjust them and feel them out and see what the best setting is. I never ended up getting around to it and just left them as it is. I can say i was on there for about 3 years to 4, and they didn't completely take a shit on me, but about after year two, they definitely started to go downhill. I just sadly was not as impressed with them as some of their other products and other sets of coilovers around that price range.

    • @crv_tom
      @crv_tom  10 месяцев назад +2

      I have not had a chance to try their lifted coilovers yet although I have heard that they are very stiff and not the best ride for off-road, but if you're going for just the lifted look and drive on the road more they're not too bad.

  • @Deathphone
    @Deathphone 4 года назад +1

    I’ve already had the idea of putting coilovers with spacers for off-road/all terrain. I just didn’t know if that’s a nonsensical move. You actually know your shit and only confirmed my judgement. So I’m gonna look it up and if I pull the trigger I will try to make a installment vid and give you a shout out. Do you have any suggestions on the approach? I have a stock set up RN and I’m looking to do a good AT 1.5’’ F 2.0” R lift nothing crazy. If I can just get BFG AT’s on 15x8’s with clearing I’m happy.

    • @crv_tom
      @crv_tom  4 года назад +2

      Thank you I appreciate that! I learn a lot through trial-and-error, as far as the coil overs go I have not had much experience myself with using them for lift but a few guys have had good results with custom made coilover spring sets you can find them on the RD1 Facebook page and a few that comment on my Instagram page, and as far as the wheels you should be fine you may have to do a little bit of trimming inside the fender well.

    • @crv_tom
      @crv_tom  4 года назад +2

      You were going to have to adjust the pre load so you're going to have to move the collar down on the Spring and the Spring will end up being a little loose until you lower the vehicle

      @nicoleandrico8528 4 года назад +1

      @crv_tom  4 года назад +1

      Yes if you want lower you're going to have to loosen up the pre load in the front that's what I had to do it's not too bad after a settles in of course its not gonna be good as an expensive nice set but really it is not bad at all for the price

  • @lukaskavaloski4888
    @lukaskavaloski4888 3 года назад +1

    I was wondering if they are lower in the front because I’ve heard with the yonakas since they are lower you have to trim off the lip on the upper control arm..
    I saw a video to get them lower tho by lessening the spring tension. Have you tried this with them or have any insight? I just bought a pair for my 97’ crv, just to kinda learn with and stuff. I was thinking I’d just lower em as far as possible without loosing the spring, but maybe it wouldn’t be too bad?

    • @lukaskavaloski4888
      @lukaskavaloski4888 3 года назад +1

      Oh yea but adding on to what I said about the upper control arm, I forgot to say that I saw you have to do that so they don’t get stuck

    • @crv_tom
      @crv_tom  3 года назад

      If you were going to run stock upper control arms yes you're going to have to trim them no matter what if you lower it it's just safer to trim it otherwise they can get stuck her up into the fender well
