Some really great choices. Moggs Motel and Jon Anderson are favs, along with Smashing Pumpkins. Regarding Smashing Pumpkins, in my unsolicited opinion, there will never be another Siamese Dream and/or Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Deep Purple =1 is a great number one choice. It's good to hear that lineup hold its own compared with past great variations of the band. Thanks for your thoughts, Brendon.

I have to agree man, = 1 was absolutely amazing the second I played it on release day. Great countdown, I feel like many of mine would be from this list.
My two (2) favorites for 2024 are Deep Purple and Kerry King. David Gilmore's was the best sounding release followed closely by King's and Purple's. The one album that I can't stand "sonically" was the Black Crowes and I actually returned it to Amazon because of it!
Deep Purple is a freking awesome and highly worthy pick. Didn´t quite make my No1, only No3 being beaten by Pallbearer and Ingurgitating Oblivion (completely different styles), but still a wonderful album that came right out of the blue for me. I´d go as far as calling it their best work since Machine Head (with the caveat - I don´t know everything they´ve done since)
Great list!! This is my top 20! (If you wanna know): * means that i have the album on cd 20. Full Tilt Overdrive - House Of Lords 19. Ohio Players - The Black Keys 18. Rome Wasn't Built In A Day - Babylon A.D. 17. Moggs Motel - Moggs Motel 16. I Am The Weapon - Flotsam & Jetsam 15. How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb - U2 14. The Dark Horse - Riley's L.A. Guns 13. Circle Of Stone - Blaze Bayley 12. Luck And Strange - David Gilmour 11. Humanoid - Accept* 10. The Forest Is The Path - Snow Patrol* 9. Dark Matter - Pearl Jam* 8. V - Black Country Communion* 7. Child Within The Man - Sebastian Bach* 6. Hell, Fire And Damnation - Saxon* 5. The Art Of Letting Go - Myles Kennedy* 4. Invincible Shield - Judas Priest* 3. =1 - Deep Purple* 2. The Mandrake Project - Bruce Dickinson* 1. Forever - Bon Jovi* i'm gonna be honest the top 6 could easily switch because i think all of those albums are so great that it is very hard to rank them. and Bon Jovi is probably the number one for me because it is my favorite band. But Bruce or Deep Purple could easily be the number one too
The only release I didn’t include the U2 album How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb is that it’s not new. It’s archival recorded 20 years ago. But it’s a fantastic album and would have placed very high.
Fav. albums (A-Z) of '24 (a dirty dozen + 6 hon. m's.): Category 7 - Category 7 Empires Of Eden - Guardians Of Time Flotsam And Jetsam - I Am The Weapon Impellitteri - War Machine Judas Priest - Invincible Shield Mindless Sinner - Metal Merchants Nitrogods - Valley Of The Gods Riot V - Mean Streets Saxon - Hell, Fire And Damnation Stryper - When We Were Kings Unleash The Archers - Phantoma Whom Gods Destroy - Insanium HM's: Astral Doors - The End Of It All Casandra's Crossing - Garden Of Earthly Delights Dream Evil - Metal Gods Sunburst - Manifesto The End Machine - The Quantum Phase Vanden Plas - The Empyrean Equation Of The Long Lost Things 🤘😎
Interesting, eclectic list. Just missing the best two albums, being; At 1980 - Forget To Remember The Broken View - Ordinary Love But that can be forgiven. To each their own and I find interest in your list, regardless of whether or not any of them are also in my list. ;)
I'm a big Black Crowes fan, loved the new album but man that artwork is just horrible, especially compared to how great all of their albums are. Great list B! Thanks, looking forward to boxsets
Great vid! I have a lot of CDs to pick up for the collection or at least listen to based on this review. For me my #1 is either Priest or Bruce. Those have both been on regular rotation. I’m also still loving Mick Mars album even though I know you aren’t a big fan. Babylon AD is still in my top 20 also. Looking forward to what albums drop in 2025
My top 5: 1 - No Name - Jack White 2 - Post Human Nex Gen - Bring Me The Horizon 3 - From Zero - Linkin Park 4 - Brat - Charli XCX 5 - Saviors - Green Day
That album did absolutely nothing for me. I really tried to like it but there is nothing there that interests me. It’s just not my type of music. I would much preferred it to sound like old-school Crue.
My top 30 albums for 2024: 1. Nightwish - Yesterwynde 2. Powerwolf - Wake Up The Wicked 3. HammerFall - Avenge The Fallen 4. Judas Priest - Invincible Shield 5. All For Metal - Gods of Metal 6. Visions of Atlantis - Pirates II 7. Brothers of Metal - Fimbulvinter 8. Revolution Saints - Against The Winds 9. Sunstorm - Restless Fight 10. Find Me - Nightbound 11. Powell/Payne - Voilá 12. Feuerschwanz - Warriors 13. Accept - Humanoid 14. Lionville - Supernatural 15. Bruce Dickinson - The Mandrake Project 16. Evergrey - Theories of Emptiness 17. Riot V - Mean Streets 18. Orden Ogan - The Order of Fear 19. Rhapsody of Fire - Challenge the Wind 20. Dream Evil - Metal Gods 21. Nestor - Teenage Rebel 22. Bon Jovi - Forever 23. Stryper - When We Were Kings 24. FM - Old Habits Die Hard 25. Myrath - Karma 26. DragonForce - Warp Speed Warriors 27. Saxon - Hell, Fire, and Damnation 28. Leaves Eyes - Myths of Fate Firewind - Stand United 29. Sonata Arctica - Clear Cold Beyond 30. Ace Frehley - 10,000 Volts
GILMOUR, PRIEST, DICKINSON, PEARL JAM would be my top 4. Don't know why the DP album did not click with me. Might need to give it a few more listens. Great list as usual!
Glad to see "Happiness Bastards" so high on your list! Here are 5 remarkable 2024 albums that you probably won't see often on this year's lists: Ches Smith - Laugh Ash Kamasi Washington - Fearless Movement Oneida - Expensive Air Lætitia Sadier - Rooting for Love Sam Lee - Songdreaming
The Warning: Keep Me Fed Lucifer: Lucifer V Pearl Jam: Dark Matter Blacks Crows: Happiness Bastards Judas Priest: Invisible Shield Linkin Park: From Zero Deep Purple: =1 I’m sure I’m missing a few …
I also really enjoyed David Gilmour's new album. I probably wouldn't have it at #2 but, I can't fault you for that high of a showing. I have not warmed up to Bruce Dickenson's solo album. Something about it just misses the mark for me. Senjutsu was released on Sept. 3rd, 2021. I have listened to it at least once a month since it's release. I think it's the best album from any of the Iron Maiden and related side projects since Somewhere in Time. My #2 album is Black Country Communion -V and my number one album of the year is Jack White - No Name. Check out the song Archbishop Harold Holmes off of No Name. It's my favorite Jack White composition from any of his bands. Just so infectious! Luck and Strange comes in at #3 for me.
Good stuff! We have some similar tastes (RE: The Black Crowes, Bruce Dickinson, Russell/Guns). Curious if you are a fan of COLLECTIVE SOUL? Their double record “Here To Eternity” was my surprise, go-to album for long car rides.
Still making my list. Only two from your list is making to mine Jon Anderson & Deep Purple. Last year I had a 3-way tie for number one & it's looking like it might happen again this year.
I would have placed Blaze Bayley and Bruce Dickinson even higher on the list, but happy you included them. I also would have liked to see Accept-Humanoid and Demon- Invincible in the top 20.
My top 5 new releases of 2024... 5... Midnight.. hellish expectations 4... Exhorder.. defectum omnium 3... Deceased.. children of the morgue 2... Fu Manchu.. the return of tomorrow 1... The Lurking Corpses.. Lurking After Midnight
It's December 1st....keeping the horseshoe? I have most of those but for me I'd have to throw in the newest Kenny Wayne Shepherd...Dirt on my diamonds Vol. 2. Let's hope 2025 brings us some new great music😊
Deep Purple, especially after the last release that was a covers and not very good.... and lookin like that one might be the last one.. spectacular recovery
A few mellow tracks? The whole album felt mellow. Yes they’ve done that type of album before and I didn’t care for those either. After such a long wait I would have expected a more rockin album. Regardless Dug’s solo album made up for it. 👍
another way to say what you said would be "its incorrect for you to not think the same way I do". nothing personal to you we all do it with everything.
While I do quite like the last King’s album, Dug’s latest blows it away. His solo records have been solid, but not great. But this one changes everything.
My Top 10 Albums Of 2024: (10) Sabrina Carpenter "Short n' Sweet" (tie) (10) Kacey Musgraves "Deeper Well" (tie) (09) Deep Purple "=1" (08) Billie Eilish "Hit Me Hard And Soft" (07) Dua Lipa "Radical Optimism" (06) Beyonce "Cowboy Carter" (05) The Warning "Keep Me Fed" (04) Charli XCX "Brat" (03) Taylor Swift "The Tortured Poets Department" (02) Ariana Grande "Eternal Sunshine" (01) The Last Dinner Party "Prelude To Ecstasy"
@@seekah1 It took me around 10 listens to fully appreciate, but when I did, I really liked 27 of the 31 tracks. And even the other 4 aren't bad or terrible. To put that in perspective, I really like 27 of the 30 tracks on "The Beatles (White Album)". So, that's extremely good.
@@jameswilson7084 ikr, she really challenged on this one. There were for me eight instant gems but the remainder really needed quite a few listens. I've noticed a lot of her fans liking SC. Surprised you had Brat so high though.
This has been the worst year for me since I started writing about music. I'm struggling to find a tenth album I connected with to fill out my Top Ten list. Almost everything felt so tired, old, and stale. I will say the Lucifer album was one of the highlights.
For me, Kenny Wayne Shepard , Dirt on my Diamonds Vol 2 (Blues), Dark Mile for great Hard Rock, and the Underrated Georgia Thunderbolts, with Rise Anove it All (Great Southern Rock)

I have to agree man, = 1 was absolutely amazing the second I played it on release day. Great countdown, I feel like many of mine would be from this list.
DEEP PURPLE!! Amazing album 👍
Totally agree with Deep Purple. Awsome record!
I´d go as far as calling it their best work since Machine Head (with the caveat - I don´t know everything they´ve done since)
Thanks for pointing out burton Cummings awesome straight down to my record store monday 👍
Great list!! This is my top 20! (If you wanna know):
* means that i have the album on cd

i'm gonna be honest the top 6 could easily switch because i think all of those albums are so great that it is very hard to rank them. and Bon Jovi is probably the number one for me because it is my favorite band. But Bruce or Deep Purple could easily be the number one too
The only release I didn’t include the U2 album How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb is that it’s not new. It’s archival recorded 20 years ago. But it’s a fantastic album and would have placed very high.
@@BrendonSnyder yeah i already thought that you wouldn't include that album on your list. But it's indeed a pretty good album!!
Great list

U got the best list
Interesting, eclectic list. Just missing the best two albums, being;
At 1980 - Forget To Remember
The Broken View - Ordinary Love
But that can be forgiven.
Looking forward to what albums drop in 2025
My top 5:
1 - No Name - Jack White
2 - Post Human Nex Gen - Bring Me The Horizon
3 - From Zero - Linkin Park
4 - Brat - Charli XCX
5 - Saviors - Green Day
Really can’t believe that Mick Mars album is not on this fantastic
That album did absolutely nothing for me. I really tried to like it but there is nothing there that interests me. It’s just not my type of music. I would much preferred it to sound like old-school Crue.
My top 30 albums for 2024:
1. Nightwish - Yesterwynde

29. Sonata Arctica - Clear Cold Beyond
Here are 5 remarkable 2024 albums that you probably won't see often on this year's lists:
Ches Smith - Laugh Ash
Kamasi Washington - Fearless Movement
Oneida - Expensive Air
Lætitia Sadier - Rooting for Love
Sam Lee - Songdreaming
The Warning: Keep Me Fed
Lucifer: Lucifer V
Pearl Jam: Dark Matter
Blacks Crows: Happiness Bastards
Judas Priest: Invisible Shield
Linkin Park: From Zero
Deep Purple: =1
I’m sure I’m missing a few …
Yeah, love that Grand Slam album too.
Album of the year.
1) saxon hell fire and damnation
2) judas priest
3) soul asylum slowly but shirley
Flotsam and jetsam number one for me \,,/
Good stuff! We have some similar tastes (RE: The Black Crowes, Bruce Dickinson, Russell/Guns). Curious if you are a fan of COLLECTIVE SOUL? Their double record “Here To Eternity” was my surprise, go-to album for long car rides.
I am a fan of Collective Soul but their new album did not click for me. However, their previous album I was all over.
Still making my list. Only two from your list is making to mine Jon Anderson & Deep Purple. Last year I had a 3-way tie for number one & it's looking like it might happen again this year.
Lucifer, Opeth, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Eilish..off the top of my head. Pretty eclectic, I guess.
I would have placed Blaze Bayley and Bruce Dickinson even higher on the list, but happy you included them. I also would have liked to see Accept-Humanoid and Demon- Invincible in the top 20.
I agree 100% on your number 1
My top 5 new releases of 2024...
5... Midnight.. hellish expectations
4... Exhorder.. defectum omnium
3... Deceased.. children of the morgue
2... Fu Manchu.. the return of tomorrow
1... The Lurking Corpses.. Lurking After Midnight
@@craigswensen434 Exhorder was great! High on Fire was another favorite. Take Offense also
I would've liked to see Vain on the list. IMO I would place Vain above Stefani and Russell/Guns. Just to my ears.
No particular order Linkin Park, Judas Priest, Black Crowes, The Cure, Charli XCX, Bruce Dickinson!
I had most of your pics. I was wondering how close did the Quireboys new album come to your top 20?
If there was a Top 30 it would have made it for sure
Cantrell and Opeth, both great albums
CD of the year is Crossbone Skully, hands down
I definitely want to believe that you don't know The Warning and haven't heard "Keep me Fed". Much better than 5 or 6 on this list! Here's a tip!
I disagree
The Mercury Riots “In Solstice” is my number one. Such an underrated band and album.
Orange Goblin - " Science, Not Fiction" - for me the only decent album of '24. Well That And Zappa " Whiskey a Go Go '68 "
Bruce Dickinson - The Mandrake Project 🤘🤘🤘 Erika - United States Of Erika 🤘🤘🤘 Durbin - Screaming Steel 🤘🤘🤘
I enjoyed the Black Crowes and found Judas Priest's latest release absolutely epic. On the other hand, I didn’t connect with Gilmour’s work at all
It's December 1st....keeping the horseshoe? I have most of those but for me I'd have to throw in the newest Kenny Wayne Shepherd...Dirt on my diamonds Vol. 2. Let's hope 2025 brings us some new great music😊
Videos are rarely filmed the day they post. So you’ll still see the horseshoe into the first week of Dec. but yes it might remain for a little bit.
@BrendonSnyder looks good and a little warmer in the winter
Deep Purple, especially after the last release that was a covers and not very good.... and lookin like that one might be the last one.. spectacular recovery
hell yes! that Black Crows album is my personal new favorite of the year!
thank u sir
I'm guessing that there aren't any new original albums coming out this month which is December. That's fine though
The last King's X albums didn't rock? Hmmmm. All their release always have a few mellow tracks, Three Sides Of One was no different.
My Top 10 Albums Of 2024:
(10) Sabrina Carpenter "Short n' Sweet" (tie)
(10) Kacey Musgraves "Deeper Well" (tie)
(09) Deep Purple "=1"
(08) Billie Eilish "Hit Me Hard And Soft"
(07) Dua Lipa "Radical Optimism"
(06) Beyonce "Cowboy Carter"
(05) The Warning "Keep Me Fed"
(04) Charli XCX "Brat"
(03) Taylor Swift "The Tortured Poets Department"
(02) Ariana Grande "Eternal Sunshine"
(01) The Last Dinner Party "Prelude To Ecstasy"
Taylor made my #1. I hate the Grammy's but it will be interesting all the same lol.
I AGREE WITH JERRY CANTRELL, JON ANDERSON AND DAVID GILMOUR... BUT MAN I LOVED THE MICHAEL SCHENKER ALBUM REMEMBERING UFO!!!
For me, Kenny Wayne Shepard , Dirt on my Diamonds Vol 2 (Blues), Dark Mile for great Hard Rock, and the Underrated Georgia Thunderbolts, with Rise Anove it All (Great Southern Rock)
Hi, brendan...JUDAS PRIEST- INVINCIBLE SHIELD. CD MY OPINION BEST METAL CD FOR 2024, I RATE IT THE BEST!! HANDS DOWN...PRIEST RUN N ON ALL 8 CYLINDERS,❤❤❤❤/ priest -fire power cd, is sooo good!!! Highly undsrated MASTER PIECE! GOOD toe tapper...❤❤❤
