You forgot ONE VERY IMPORTANT STEP. Before you mount the Ring to the door, wipe the area down with Denatured or Rubbing Alcohol. It will clean the residue from the door that has built up and make a more permanent contact with better adhesion. Otherwise, there is grime that has built up on the door face and over time it might be more prone to loosing adhesion to the door.
Yes, gorilla tape that we used is super strong. I put up lights around my fence with it and they’re still there and it’s hard to get them off but I need to change it so it worked pretty good and that ring doorbell still up to.
Yes, it wasn’t easy getting that film off of it but if you’ve got little bit longer fingernails, it would probably help. Good luck on your install and thank you for watching.
No, it’s stuck on there once you put it up it’s hard to get off I mean I guess somebody could rip it off if they wanted to but then we would have a video of them
Omg I love your video. I haven’t laughed that hard in a very long time. That tape is maddening. And your plight had me in tears, because anyone who has used it knows. Thank you for the entertainment 😂
Btw Tom I ended up using the tape to put up both of my cameras outside. I hope they hold. 🤞 However, I did install a battery operated motion light over my garage doors a couple of years ago and it needs new batteries but I can’t get the tape to let go so I can replace the batteries 🤪🤣
Is the tape still holding well? I'm thinking about buying it to mount lights along my fence insted of drilling. I'm not looking forward ripping off the back of the tape.
I don’t know if that would hold the curtains that’s a lot of weight, but you could try. I use this for things like the doorbell or solar lights that are lighter
We are in Florida so we don’t encounter that extreme cold. I don’t know how it works in the cold it may freeze I guess. The only way to find out is to try it. Good luck. Thanks for watching.
Once you stick it, it kinda is stuck so you gotta make sure you got it exactly the way you want sometimes using a level helps. Good luck thanks for watching.
@@Larabe138 This model in the video has a removable battery so you adhere the base and the battery is still able to be removed. Some other models you would adhere the backing the camera hangs from and unhook the camera itself to plug in and charge.
what part of the country do you live in.... how did it hold up in Heat and Cold temps. That seems more important and useful than how you attached the tape to the unit
I felt your "pain" trying to peel off the top tape. Thanks for showing this as I want to secure my doorbell like this.
You’re welcome 😊
I often use an X-acto knife to pry the protective backing away from double-stick tape. You can be more precise, and faster, than just your fingers.
Excellent it thank you

That is an excellent tip thank you so much for adding it. Our viewers will appreciate it and thank you for watching.

Thanks I was wondering what to use to put on my door now I know gorilla tape ❤
You’re welcome 😊 Good luck on the installs thank you for watching happy holidays.
Thank you sooooo much for this video. Just bought the tape so hopefully it’s as easy for me as it was for you 🤞🏽
The hard part is pulling off the cellophane but you can do it if you’ve got good fingernails good luck thanks
Thank you! Just ordered a ring doorbell and plan to use that tape. Appreciate the heads-up on the peel. Ugh. 😅

Please film the time you ever come to remove it! (either with a heatgun, etc). Thanks!
I will, but I gotta tell you it’s still holding up strong and I put a bunch of lights up with it so yeah, I’m pretty happy with it
does this adhesive leave any damage to the door or residue for when you want to take it off? can you even take it off easily?
Not sure I haven’t taken it off yet
Great video very informative. Have u had anyone trying to take the cam or mess with it????
No, it’s stuck on there once you put it up it’s hard to get off I mean I guess somebody could rip it off if they wanted to but then we would have a video of them
We are in Florida, so it’s pretty warm here. I don’t know how much it would work in Michigan especially the upper Peninsula.
Omg I love your video. I haven’t laughed that hard in a very long time. That tape is maddening. And your plight had me in tears, because anyone who has used it knows. Thank you for the entertainment 😂
I know it’s hard to get that plastic off of it. It’s almost impossible. Crazy good luck. Thanks for watching.

It’s really strong tape so it could pull some paint off
Omg I hate that tape but it works 😂 I got an apartment and I have a ring camera on the way and can’t use nails so thank you !
Good luck on your install. Thanks for watching.
You can still pull the battery out from the bottom I have a video and how to remove the battery. The tape won’t get in the way.
Gorilla actually recommends putting the tape vertically as opposed to horizontally.
Excellent tip
Is the tape still holding well? I'm thinking about buying it to mount lights along my fence insted of drilling. I'm not looking forward ripping off the back of the tape.
Yes, it’s still working and I did use it for some solar lights that I put on my fence and they’re still working too. It’s pretty amazing stuff.
Quick question would the gorilla peel off a layer of the wood if I tried to remove it if I were to ever move homes
I think you might would be fine. It’ll pull off, but it’s super sticky.
Does it take paint off when you remove?
It might I haven’t removed it yet
@TomLeeman gorilla seems to take something with it whatever you do.
I wonder if I can use this to hang my curtain rods?
I don’t know if that would hold the curtains that’s a lot of weight, but you could try. I use this for things like the doorbell or solar lights that are lighter
Will this work for brick?
I don’t think it’ll work if you’re trying to tape a brick to a brick, but I think you could put stuff on bricks if it’s light enough
@TomLeeman need a different option to mount my ring to a brick wall w/out having to drill into it. So was wondering. Thank you.
We are in Florida so we don’t encounter that extreme cold. I don’t know how it works in the cold it may freeze I guess. The only way to find out is to try it. Good luck. Thanks for watching.
What about the back cover? Shouldn't you tape the back cover to the door. Mine Has to be charged so how would I get it off to charge it
Once you stick it, it kinda is stuck so you gotta make sure you got it exactly the way you want sometimes using a level helps. Good luck thanks for watching.
Yes but how would I charge it

We’re in South Florida so it gets super hot but this thing holds up great still sticking there. Happy holidays.
Might not stick so well in freezing temps but maybe it will.
Can it withstand below freezing temps?
That’s a good question. I’m not sure.
Longest when you remove the tape don't take the paint off the wall or on the wood I'll be okay with that or is it??
I have not taken the ring doorbell off yet so I’m not sure if it’ll pull the paint off
Shouldnt you use the outdoor rated tape for this?
This worked pretty good it’s still Holden
So has anyone does this for the stick up cam?
That might work
How do you get it off if you're moving or something? Will the tape damage the door?
That’s a good question. I have not tried to remove it yet
how do you get the doorbell off after sticking it
I put the base on there. I don’t tape the door bell or ring on there so it should pop off the base. Good luck thanks for watching.
Will the gorilla tape hold because I have a outward door but I would rather have the metal plate but they don’t make them for outward door
It is still holding tight and strong
Can this work with a blink doorbell?
Maybe
@@TomLeeman
Thank you
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Welcome
How strong is it? And is it a hassle taking it off ?
This tape is unbelievably strong it’s holds forever. Happy new year.
That tape really holds doesn’t it you may have to get up paint scraper to release it good luck thanks for watching
Changing battery could be a problem?
This is first generation so all I have to do is lift up the case. The battery just slips out. Have a video of it. Thanks for watching.
You could try the gorilla tape and see if it works
Does the tape work on upvc doors ?
It’s extremely sticky and I’ve used it on small things. I don’t know about doors but you could try.
Yes it does very strong
Is it still sticking?
Yes, it is so working
Can I stick this on pvc door?
Yes, my fence outside is PVC or some type of plastic and it works pretty good at it
I have a brick wall?
It might work give it a try
I do too. How did yours work out? It’s been barely above 0 degrees here which is a concern
Did anyone try it on brick? I really need mine on brick and can’t drill holes in the brick of my townhouse 😢.
hope they don't steal your camera.
Me too
If they do, you can report it stolen and Ring will deactivate it so it has no value to the thief, and then send you a free replacement 🙂
oh wow what? They do that? That was what I was nervous about but I don't have a masonry bit right now to screw into my front wall. @@andreepratt6272
Wouldn’t trust their products with hanging a bit of paper on the wall never mind a £100 door bell
Doorbell still up and it’s stuck on there pretty darn good
@ maybe the stuff I used in the past was defective then? Every time I’ve used something from them it’s never been any good
Not a good video!
I stuck it on my back door as a deterrent
