OutKast is the greatest duo ever. Wick said they sold “some albums” nah they sold THEE MOST albums of any group. Does longevity in the rap game counts? What rap group had a longer run? Run DMC dominated the 80s. Outkast dominated two eras of hip hop and Andre and big boi are just better at rapping than run. And how many groups have more classic albums than Outkast and higher peak? Wick said hits don’t matter so what does matter? You gotta look at it all from a totality perspective. And OutKast was way more successful than any group.

OutKast came out mid 90s, they didn't have the internet and engine behind them til their third album. Run DMC hype came mostly cause rap and hip hop was still in it's infancy when they debuted. You can honestly take 3 songs from each OutKast albums that were hotter than anything Run DMC and NWA put out. Also there was no love for southern rap or hip hop when they did it.

I wouldn't put NWA before outkast. Simply because they only had like one album. Those artists did better solo.
@@850des true but as far as impact it’s not close.. You do understand before NWA rappers didn’t really cuss on records, shooting people all album, call women bitches or speak about the police. All the things named is what hip hop is at the time and wasn’t before them
@@RebelutionaryMusic By that logic, NWA is kind of responsible for destroying hip hop.
@@hitek9too255 No they just planted the seed for what could be done with hip hop. NWA didn’t just glorify gangster shit and act or be the ones doing the real crimes even in the there song they said things like “Now I’m dressed in the county blues” and had whole positive songs like “Express Yourself” they put consequences in there songs. “Gangster” rappers in the 90s would always says they was telling stories from the ghetto to the point many would even die at the end of they own songs. Very different from today where the artist not only raps like he is invincible bring chaos and violence to the Nieghbor hood he also is personally involved in it. Record labels realizing they can make more money off hip hop than rock n roll and R n B changed hip hop. They eliminate the gifted storytelling kids from the ghetto and replace them with wannabe real gangsters or real criminals from the ghetto and label them “street” when being from the ghetto really makes you street and that don’t mean you a gangster and being a gangster don’t mean you from the streets
@RebelutionaryMusic I'll have to respectfully disagree. 2 live crews' first album was 2 years before NWA and they was talking more shit. Along with geto boys who made the album "making trouble" in the 80's they came out same year as NWA. NWA just went more global because California owned TV back then.
