Let's be honest, PlayStation stopped being valuable whenever backwards compatibility stopped extending. You mean to tell me you can put all of this state of the art technology in it but I can't play PlayStation 1 games? I could understand if there was some type of preservation plan but they're not even preserving games we're losing them! Like imagine if you couldn't message people on iPhones just because you had a two generation gap. That's asinine.
They absolutely were greedy in the beginning. They gave us a broken product with pretty much no online, no games and had the gall to charge $600 for it.

My flatmate bought a PS4 off a friends kid for $100. When he tried to go online, a message appeared saying PS was banned from online use. Found out the kid stole his Nan's credit card, used it online and got busted for fraud. So they banned his PS. No way of overturning ban even though my flatmate did nothing wrong. Stupid thing is the friends kid just got another PS and then went back online to cheat and commit more fraud. Only one punished was an innocent 3rd party who just wanted to play games online. NEVER buy a second ha d PS without checking it online first....it may be just a brick
@@markboscoe272 I heard stories of people that got banned and didn't cheat on games or do anything fraudulent. It seems that Sony can use any breach of terms of service or community guidelines to ban a console. Reminds me of the Xbox 360 ban waves. But at least you could still use the system offline. Thank goodness your flatmate only lost $100 though. I heard stories of people that bought consoles on eBay and got beat for $300+
Well millions of people use steam and I know people with 600+ games on steam and if they just decide to ban your account you lose all of that, it's the same fight as you would have with sony/Microsoft. I'm not even on the side I play pc but it's scary to know that with a push of a button you can lose potentially thousands worth of games
@@BaconDanglers Atleast if that does happen on PC you can sail the 7 seas to get the vast majority of your games back and more importantly your system will still be able to go online. Also the only way steam will outright ban an account is if you try to rip them off financially; anything else will just get you banned from playing a specific game or get you banned from posting on a specific game's forum depending on what you did.
There is no ban tha can brick a console. When will ignorant people stop spreading such bullshit? They can permaban your console's PSN login so they stop you from signing into PSN. However that doesnt make the console a brick. You can still put your discs in and play them without PSN.
And people are gonna still buy it unfortunately, even if they have a normal ps5 with 0 reason to upgrade ur still gonna have brainlets buy it and give in to the deceptive marketing

@@OrlandoGamino sure, but some business models involve actually selling while others involve renting. Doesn’t make it ok to steal regardless of which model they follow. You can just chose not to participate.
@@svenmifythat’s a dodgy analogy - you can rent digital media, in the same way you can rent a car, but if I choose to buy a car, the corporation/vendor won’t arbitrarily revoke my ownership of the car (except that is slowly becoming a possibility due to the integration of dashboard computers and remote access 😢). If I’m opting into a transaction, under the pretext that I’ll have ownership of what I’m buying, but I won’t, then I’m being duped by the seller. So if buying isn’t owning, then pirating isn’t stealing. It’s not the consumer changing the dynamics, it’s the corporations. We’re getting fleeced and being stripped of our consumer rights.

I mean sure, but PC gamers are not really the target audience. And if less than 1k for 60-120fps @ 4k with raytracing is too much, you are really not going to get gaming pc, since it would cost at least 2-3k to get machine that can do that. Of course PC is much more versatile tool, if you have need for it. But just for gaming PS5 pro isn't really that expensive.

Their testing the waters to go full digital/stream gaming. They're already taking games off people's accounts on last Gen consoles, Microsoft did this to me on my Xbox 1. Bought a game that I waited to go on sale, played it for a couple days and left my Xbox alone for like a week and then I came back and I find out they took the game off my account with no explanation or refund and the store is asking me to buy the game again... After this? Never again... Not much we can do because we signed their TOS, when we bought and signed up with their console. They know this and it emboldens them. As a hardware admin, red flags went off when i heard Zen2 Why is that a problem? 2 things 1: Zen2 APUs, including the PS5 have 1/4 the cache per core of Zen2 CPUs. 2:Zen2 has 2 CCX of 4 cores for 4+4 cores with 4+4MB of cache. Zen3 and later use a single CCX for a unified 8 cores(and a unified 16MB of cache double that of Zen2, with up to 4x the usable cache at any given time to a single core) Why is this important? If the PS5 doesnt jump up to 24GB of RAM on a 384 bit bus, much of the bandwidth of that GDDR6 is going to be sucked up by the CPU because of how much more often it needs to go to RAM instead of cache. Yes adding cache makes the die larger, consume more energy, and be more expensive. Do you know what else cache does? Reduces total system power draw because the RAM needs to be used less, going to RAM is something like 4 orders of magnitude more energy required than staying within cache, and yes this includes on-package RAM like Lunar Lake(though probably just 2 orders of magnitude) When the CPU needs to go to RAM, that RAM becomes unavailable to the GPU. This would probably be fine if it still had 40(36 usable) compute units, but its apparently going up to 60 compute units, thats the same as the RX 6800, and do you know what the RX 6800 has? A 256 bit bus dedicaded to the GPU instead of a 256 bit bus shared between CPU and GPU. The CPU doesnt really need the bandwidth the GPU needs, however, when the CPU takes up clock cycles, its robbing that bandwidth no matter what.
I thought that the new gen consoles were capable of playing DVDs but apparently these cons have no more Blu-ray players. It's a sole wifi gaming device. Might as well stream games.
It's disappointing to see how gaming companies are trying to steer us towards a future where the physical preservation of games is considered obsolete.
The amount of people defending the PS5 Pro's pricing is actually pathetic. You only have yourselves to blame when you gotta fork out $1,000 for the PS6.
It makes ZERO sense that a product that requires physical production costs, along with shipping and distribution, costs the SAME as a Digital Download!!!
I disagree. I buy the newest Samsung Note (now "Ultra") phone every year. BUT only because Samsung gives me 75%-80% of what I paid for my previous phone as trade-in each year. If I pay $1,000 for a phone, I get $750-$800 credit for sending my old phone back. Same as if I bought a brand new phone every 4 years and kept it for 4 years. Except, I get to have the newest phone every year. If they ever change this pricing scheme, I'll stop getting a new phone every year.
There might be the slight chance that the price is a marketing stunt, like it happened with the first sonic movie; launch a trailer, generate outrage, let people talk about it for a few weeks or so, then do the big announcement of the “new” price= you’re very much forgiven and suddenly it doesen’t sound so expensive= more customers. All those things are true, but as a PC gamer it's pretty much the case for PC too. Sure we don't have to pay to play online, but simultaneously getting physical copies for your games is a pipedream at this point whereas consoles still produce a majority of their games on disc. The entire gaming landscape is in a sad state. The moment gaming got to be big enough, it was seized by the rich and greedy and it was always going to end up like this.
Maybe I'm the odd one out but I'm still rocking my PS4 working through its massive library of games. Paying $700 for a new console that doesn't even have a disc drive is madness to me
I would still recommend getting a ps5, lot more games now being ps5 only and it’s gonna increase, plus it is just a massive improvement. Fuck the ps5 pro tho
Lately, I've seen that myth that a game disc is just a license key resurfacing, especially with the recent discussions around the lack of a disc drive on the PS5 Pro. I think people believe this because, on the PS5 (I can't speak for Switch or Xbox since I don’t own them), when you insert a disc, you get a notification that says something like "[Game Name] added to Downloads/Uploads." It gives the impression that the game is being downloaded from the internet, but that's not actually the case. If you disconnect from the internet and insert the disc again, you'll see the same notification pop up, even though the PS5 is offline. Obviously, it can't be downloading anything without an internet connection. What’s really happening is the game is being installed from the disc, not downloaded. The data is on the disc itself. I can confirm this from personal experience. When I visited family last month who dont have reliable internet, I brought my PS5 and bought some games while I was there, specifically Stellar Blade, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Elden Ring. I installed and played them completely offline. Elden Ring even had version 1.10 on the disc, which shows it must have been a reprint. So people, please stop spreading the idea that discs are just coasters. Misinformation like this is damaging to gaming as a whole.
@@AA-sw5pb not really. PS3 would sometimes say it's installing if the game had to be installed but that was within the game it'self and it never said downloading. Ps5 will display the same notification whether your downloading the game or installing from disc.
It's not completely untrue that game discs are license keys, it's just not all of them. You said that you're less familiar with Xbox, and that's where the problem is mainly. An example: I don't have WiFi in my apartment, I just use mobile data on my phone to watch RUclips and stuff like that. I bought a disc copy of Halo Infinite back in November, I found it weird that it was only a 13gb install but I waited anyway. Booted it up, and it's just the main menu. I couldn't get past the "Press start to continue" prompt, I was told I have to download the game, which I couldn't. That's what people mean, there are countless examples of games that don't actually ship on the discs you purchase.
@@NeverKetamine I'm aware of the issues with Halo, especially on Xbox, where it seems to be a bigger problem compared to other platforms. It’s frustrating, and I suspect it will only get worse over time as discs become more obsolete. However, I don’t think we’re quite at that point yet, despite what some people claim. I believe companies that still release physical copies of games without needing major updates or downloads deserve more recognition. For example, while I’m not a big fan of the Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West games, I was impressed with the recent Complete Edition. It came on two discs, including all the DLC and patches pre-installed. That’s something I appreciated, so I bought a copy. I think developers who make these efforts deserve credit, and I wish more people acknowledged it.

If ps5 pro can play god of war ragnarok at 60 fps then pc can play it at double of 120 fps within the same budget. I seriously am questioning how did they think we pc players will switch to a console from pc. Infact steam has a big picture mode for console experience. Did Sony not do their homework ?
Anyone remember when the 3do came out and it was like $500 or something and the sony ps1 announced right after at e3 and the ceo just said "$299" and walk off. I guess sony has a different mindset now
700$ in US, 800€ in Europe which is extra expensive. For a console without a bluray drive, and pedestal. This is abused, a huge scandal I prefer buying a new and more expensive PC than this.
The prices in north america don't include tax. That's for all products not just the ps5. Each state in the us and each province in Canada have their own tax rate.
@@BigBossGR Yes, Europe includes tax, but it's weird, because the EU countries have wildly varying tax rates. Germany is way higher than Poland, for example. So I don't get why the US can't do this.
800 Euros is a bit step but not as much of a Price hike as we in the UK are getting... In the UK it will be £699... Sound Equal to the US where it will be $699 ... But £699 in US dollars is $912.61...
My son got a permanent ban from Playstation he was 11 at the time and lost over £2000 in digital games as he could not access his account, i have never purchased a Playstation since.
So glad to hear someone saying this. As someone who only buys a few games that I play a lot, I already think pc is better than the normal ps5, because I don't have to pay a subscription just to play my games online. I will 100% be doing a living room PC build rather than buying another console.
Sony finally convinced me to cancel my Sony online subscription and never buy another sony product again. concord was the nail in the coffin. I'm not paying for their mistake.
Not to mention, with the PC you can do so much more than gaming. You can use it for work or content creation. You can also... Play thousands of PC games! Or emulate old consoles on it!
most people don't do content creation, and as for work, most companies give you hardware for that for security reasons(unless you are freelancer ofc). What PC can do better then Console is provide better performance, and greater variety of games indeed. But that's not gonna steer ppl to PC's. the biggest problem people have is not playing GTA6 upon release in 60 FPS LOL. it's ok, no point in trying to convince anyone. I for one will save the money for something more important and play GTA6 one year later or 2 on PC in 120 FPS or more, all good
@@tiberiumirica8445 When console players grow up and manage their own brain, they'll realize that you can set up a PC to act like a console almost 1 for 1. Backwards capability is peak on PC, and so is performance. You can play with photoshop, word, excel, blender, pinnacle, Audacity, ect.... Hou can now mod your favorite game, and map stuff for you favorite game. Clone hero and Beat Saber have 3rd party programs for that. You can pretty much do whatever. With the prices being similar enough now, there isn't a reason to stay loyal to a conpany. The future for consoles isn't looking good, but they were always scams anyway.
You are paying 700$ for a digital playstation 5 that does not even come with a stand so you can see some random character in more detail in the background in Racthet and clank.
1TB OLED is $650 and every review I've seen has said that Valve is massively underselling it. There's no competition with a much better battery than the original and a huge chunk of the Steam library available. I still play Elden Ring on my PS4 so this is an easy choice.
It is amazing. I have the oled version. It plays most games and you can buy a switch like stand to have that experience. I recommend at least watching tech review for the steam deck to determine if it is powerful enough for the games you want to play.
Next generation for sure the ps6 is gonna be around 900-1k I have a feeling that all this is gonna do is push casual gamers to start thinking about getting a gaming PC instead in the future.
With the pricing of the PS5 Pro, Sony sets the new threshold for the PS6, and I'm 100% sure that PS5 Pro as well as PS6 will sell out when they hit the markets ...
It's always been cheaper. People don't factor in price of online subscription, game prices, or even the amount of free games on PC. Let alone the hundred other bonuses because... it's a PC, it can literally do anything and customize it however you want.

These companies need to stop making these consoles and start making actual playable games that don't have issues from the get go and forced online play.
These revisions are always just a disguised attempt to combat piracy and maximize profits. When these consoles become old enough to be considered retro/nostalgic it's almost always the original model that's most desirable.
PS3 was so expensive it definitely hurt sales, only after those later models with features cut hit the market they were able to compete with Xbox 360 in terms of sale count. I hope PS5 Pro will also sell poorly so they will maybe learn and reduce prices too.

Hey Mutahar, I feel like you should do another video that actually addresses PC vs console. Not because people aren't already aware of the differences, but because apparently Sony thinks their users are stupid and don't understand how a PC works that they're trying to justify the $700 price on the Pro by saying that "Well PCs are difficult to set up", which is non-sequitur in relation to whether it's worth a current PS5 base user's money and time to upgrade their console.
SONY HAS LOST ITS MIND! $300 for the VR2, $700 plus extra for a disc drive and a stand?? I could build a faster PC, get a monitor, keyboard and mouse, and still have enough for taco bell for all...😂
The worst part is the lack of games. Used to be you bought a system FOR the games. Now, there is literally only one game coming out this year that I'm excited for. What happened, Microsoft?
That happens occasionally. Last year we got Hogwarts Legacy, Alan Wake 2, the Resident Evil 4 remake, Jedi: Survivor, Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur's Gate 3 and Super Mario Wonder, so it's not like we're not getting great games anymore. Last year having so many great games could have contributed to this year being slow.
That is literally rent. Just to play video games, you are giving them enough money for a month’s rent. Heck, maybe even more than a month depending on where you live. If you don’t have a console, PC is the only logical option. A computer is not just for games, but for work and overall life. It is a much better investment with how much consoles cost nowadays.
Not everyone enjoys gaming on PCs. If you like certain genres it’s probably better, but it definitely isn’t for everyone (not to mention the hurdles that are windows and steam). I like to sit back on the couch and do some stress free gaming. I’m sure it is technically possible to set up a pc to have a similar experience, but it’s too much trouble.
@@svenmifymy guy this isnt the 80s anymore If you can use the PS Store you can use Steam. You can literally use a playstation controller to scroll through Steam at a press of a single button. @@svenmifyFor that I'd recommend getting a mini PC like the SER7 which is very good value and is basically a tiny console even. It's as powerful as a Rog Ally, and has more ram too (32GB). If you feel that it's still too weak, you can get an egpu for it. The Ser7 is like $400, egpu depends, but the Rog ally x can pretty much play PS5 games at decent quality anyways so this is more than that with all that extra ram/Vram (it's shared). I'd say it's more worth it than a PS5 Pro, and a PS5 in the long run imo
Would love to get into PC gaming at this point but console gaming feels way more practical for me. Plus if I'm getting into the PC market I want something that can run everything at max/ultra. Sony are acting like apple which makes me want to jump ship. Personally I hate people that bring up the "But you pay to play online" acting like I can't afford £60 on PSN for the year, that's never been an issue for me. But I feel PC gaming (although it's clearly the best place to play games) isn't easy to get into, there's just so many options and I never know where to start. At the end of the day I just want to come home, boot up and play a game.
PC is like colour coded lego. You actually cant really screw up unless you intentionally break something. And if its a pre built PC then its the same as a console, just plug it in...

The biggest rip-off is that they can just ban your console, essentially making it a brick. You don't have to worry about that with a PC.
Thank goodness your flatmate only lost $100 though. I heard stories of people that bought consoles on eBay and got beat for $300+

@@BaconDanglers Atleast if that does happen on PC you can sail the 7 seas to get the vast majority of your games back and more importantly your system will still be able to go online. As a hardware admin, red flags went off when i heard Zen2
Why is that a problem?
2 things
1: Zen2 APUs, including the PS5 have 1/4 the cache per core of Zen2 CPUs.
2:Zen2 has 2 CCX of 4 cores for 4+4 cores with 4+4MB of cache. Zen3 and later use a single CCX for a unified 8 cores(and a unified 16MB of cache double that of Zen2, with up to 4x the usable cache at any given time to a single core)
Why is this important?
If the PS5 doesnt jump up to 24GB of RAM on a 384 bit bus, much of the bandwidth of that GDDR6 is going to be sucked up by the CPU because of how much more often it needs to go to RAM instead of cache.
Yes adding cache makes the die larger, consume more energy, and be more expensive.
Do you know what else cache does? Reduces total system power draw because the RAM needs to be used less, going to RAM is something like 4 orders of magnitude more energy required than staying within cache, and yes this includes on-package RAM like Lunar Lake(though probably just 2 orders of magnitude)
When the CPU needs to go to RAM, that RAM becomes unavailable to the GPU.
They went HARD on the "You will own nothing, and you will like it" stand.

"For some reason 800 Euros"
That reason is VAT. In Europe prices already include taxes in 99.99% of cases.
Yes but I already worked out The good old Great British Pound... £699 equates to almost $1000 US!!! (Exchange rates... We are paying MORE!)
What is it in Euros? Lets have a look... $881.58 .... Slight increase but fairer!!!
In fact the EU price is the only one that actually tracks... And trust me, its nothing to do with Taxes! It about PROFITS!
Teh reason we in the UK and EU add Taxes BEFORE PURCHASE is that way you know EXACTLY WHAT YOU WILL PAY! There are NO SURPRISES when you get to the till and suddenly find another 200 Bucks added to your bill in sales taxes... You are paying the tax with your purchase so you know AHEAD OF TIME if you can afford it!
SONY, like Amazon and Netflix KNOW DAMN WELL that Exchange Rates do not match... But by having a "Singular Pricing Structure" -0 They create and illusion to the consumer that all are being treated fair! - But they are not!

In Argentina its $2!!!

Same here!
no, you aren't, same here
I would still recommend getting a ps5, lot more games now being ps5 only and it’s gonna increase, plus it is just a massive improvement.
I don't get how people even find that confusing. That's been a thing since ps3.
An example:
I don't have WiFi in my apartment, I just use mobile data on my phone to watch RUclips and stuff like that.

700$ in US, 800€ in Europe which is extra expensive. For a console
without a bluray drive, and pedestal.
This is abused, a huge scandal
I prefer buying a new and more expensive PC than this.
The prices in north america don't include tax. That's for all products not just the ps5. Each state in the us and each province in Canada have their own tax rate.
Why is it €800 in Europe? The Euro is worth more than the dollar, we're getting ripped off even more
@@BigBossGR Yes, Europe includes tax, but it's weird, because the EU countries have wildly varying tax rates.

Or watch Muta on the big screen instead of your phone! 😁
Or… both at the same time
most people don't do content creation, and as for work, most companies give you hardware for that for security reasons(unless you are freelancer ofc).
Most of these console fanboys have no skills or hobbies aside from gaming, and therefore no need for a machine that can do anything else.
You are paying 700$ for a digital playstation 5 that does not even come with a stand so you can see some random character in more detail in the background in Racthet and clank.
Sold my ps5 and bought a steam deck. Never looking back.
How do you like it? What's ur average fps on gamed? How's the battery?
@@rustyshackelford1039yeah I wanna know too might get rid of this dust collecting switch
We’ve really reached the bottom of console gaming when it’s cheaper to buy a GAMING PC rather than, this ridiculous PS5!!
A $ 600 DOLLAR GAMING P.C. YOU FUCKIN CRAZY.ENJOY HAVE A GREAT DAY.
It's always been cheaper. People don't factor in price of online subscription, game prices, or even the amount of free games on PC. Let alone the hundred other bonuses because... it's a PC, it can literally do anything and customize it however you want.
What 8k-capable PC can you build for $700?

Ryzen 5 3600 is PS5 Pro CPU equivalent. 4070 is an equivalent GPU (it has RDNA 4 RT performance, and bespoke machine learning chip - no AMD GPU has that at this time). Your setup is wrong and will underperform compared to PS5 Pro.

And just by looking at the specs 3070 is NOT an equivalent to the console's GPU.

If the 3070 had 16gb vram i would say its a pretty good equivalent. I have a 3070ti and the last of us part 1 needs at least 12gb vram.

I remember Sony "remaking" the PS3 into having less usb slots and blocking 3rd party operating systems.
They also removed backwards compatibility when the first Slim came out in ‘09
These revisions are always just a disguised attempt to combat piracy and maximize profits.
It's the frog in the pot scenario. It takes time to condition people into accepting a desired outcome. The end goal is for the government, not the corporations, to decide if you are able to play games or watch movies. If you are a good little Prole, they will let you keep your games. If you are a naughty Prole with a low social credit score, your media privileges get revoked. If the media in question does not adhere to the ideological standards of the government, it will get the Fahrenheit 451 treatment.
You will own nothing, and be happy, because Big Brother knows what is best for you.
You can always tell when you're reading comments on a tech focused RUclips channel when people still go on about "Sony removed Linux from the PS3".

@@svenmifymy guy this isnt the 80s anymore
If you can use the PS Store you can use Steam. You can literally use a playstation controller to scroll through Steam at a press of a single button. YOU CAN EVEN BUY GAMES FROM YOUR PHONE then download it at home.
Windows is only a complicated as YOU want it to be. It's as easy as using a phone....
I pay 3k for rent. Where do you live so cheap?
@@ernimuja6991 3k is way above average, must be NY or LA? Here in Europe, I pay $600 mortgage (so not even renting). I did luck out, that’s not that common, more likely about twice that.
