Isn't it more of a 120% markup in price? In the Black Friday sales you could get a PS5 digital for less than half of the price of a PS5 pro. If you went preowned you could get a PS5 digital at around a 3rd of the price. It is insane - Insane I tells ya!

Devs on current game engines, not optimizing games to run as efficiently as possible, is the biggest issue we are facing with gaming. They're using software raytracing for simple lighting, and leaning on things like Lumen and Nanite when they shouldn't be using it at all (in their use cases).
I have noticed that lighting and shadows are using way more resources than they ever have before...I play on PC and the first thing I do to get more performance in a game is turn down the shadows, because I usually can't even tell a difference until it gets to the medium setting anyway...Just turning shadows from Ultra to high in most games will give you 10-15% more FPS with almost no visual loss...
@@brucepreston3927 Yeah, it used to save resources because it was just shorter draw distance and lower resolution shadows.. Now, it's lowering "ray count" and post processing like denoising.. Early UE5 games like Fort Solis showcased this.

To me if I compare older games they do not look that much worse in terms of lighting and reflections a well realized SSR can create believable entertainments. In other words I do not think the new things are worth the performance cuts. And we also have game companies like Nintendo which has rather dated hardware but is doing just fine. Which brings me to the final point games needs to be fun, needs to be enjoyable and this is more important than realistic graphics.

Unless developers ditch TAA and every other temporal based reconstruction method [EG: DLAA, FSR Native etc], games will always look ugly and blurry, especially in motion. 10+ years old games look significantly crystal clear compared to modern games because in those games you were either using msaa or just straight up SSAA. Or even if you had no anti aliasing, the assets weren't made in such a way that required temporal smear to combat significant shimmer. 4k looks blurrier than 1080p + msaa these days. What a joke.

They cheaped out because they know they had no competition, it's way under powered compared to the leaks and expectations. And now they're struggling to show why it's worth the money. PS4 Pro was actually a decent upgrade at a decent price. This is greed.
It would have been fine if they upgraded the damn CPU also...The issues they are having with PSSR will get fixed, but having better upscaling and a bigger gpu will only take you so far if the game is cpu limited...
That "no competition" is no excuse. When they launched the PS2, they included a postcard in the box, where if you filled it out and mailed it, they'd send you two free issues of PlayStation Magazine along with two demo disks. And this was when the PS2 was the dominant console out of Dreamcast, GameCube, and original Xbox as its competitors. Now they're taking away even stuff that they included in their last gen console. Ain't that the truth, I have been looking for a game to play over the Christmas period and nothing is jumping out at me. I am still playing Destiny 2 after all these years.
No this is not true. For the price of a PS5 pro i build myself a PC with rx 7700xt and ryzen 7 5700x3d , 1 Tb of Storage and 32gb of ram. This PC kills the PS5 pro in every possible way , you can play all games with very good FPS and settings in QHD and even 4K. Nowadays we have great technologies like Upscaling and Frame Gen which allows middle class gpus to go up to 4k and /or achieve much higher framerates. For below 1000 bucks you couldnt get so much performance 10-15 years ago. I agree that western Tripple A games are shit nowadays. But besides western AAA we got really good games the last years. I encourage to take a look into the Indie Space. Hollow Knights, Valheim, Roboquest, Lethal Company and Lies of P are just a few examples of Masterpieces we got the last years. And even some big companies had a few great games to offer. What about Elden Ring, Sekiro the Resident Evil games, Red Dead Redemption. And in the console space Nintendo continues to deliver great games year for year. Sure if you only play PS5 and Xbox this generation is kind of shit, but PC gaming and Switch gaming is still great.

The fact that youre buying an entire new console thats more expensive, nothing should be running below 60fps, ever, and the resolution should be 4k and 1440 and nothing lower with scaling. If they cant accomplish that, then price it the same as a PS5. The original should see a price drop, and this should be the same price as a regular digital edition PS5 with no disc drive. Instead they priced this as if its their next gen console, like they released a PS6 early. This is legit a brazen scam, if you dont realize that, ask yourself this - Is the PlayStatiom 6 going to cost MORE than this ?
They're always selling their consoles for a loss, they rely on paying to use your own internet for income. They wont drop the price to maybe hopefully make some real money.
Pretty sure the pro was a once off thing. They only made it for the status quo of a mid gen refresh. It didnt really need to exist as its barely an improvement and the ps5 was fine on its own. The PS6 will probably only be around 600. A little pricey but blame inflation.
This might be a blessing in disguise. The sales and hype might be so lackluster, that next year's Black Friday we might get it for USD $500.... and maybe with a bundle too (GTA 6, Disc Drive, Vertical Stand).
@@NextMoveTv The PS3 was better value for money. It had a state of the art BluRay Drive, a vertical stand, better packaging, and a built-in PS2 for Native Backwards Compatibility. Compared to a Gaming PC of the day, you couldn't build one that was as fast for the same money.... even if you shopped for Used Parts. The best counter for the PS3 was the Xbox 360, but even that had drawbacks: DVD drive, Quality Issues, Platform differences, proprietary accessories, and a paid Online Service.
Nvidia pushed ray tracing way too soon. At the time they started pushing it 6 years ago people were just starting to move to high refresh gaming and that was competing with higher resolution. While the vocal FPS players might claim refresh is kind, especially for single player games higher resolutions were taking off. The problem is that we do not have any card that can do 4k 120fps ray traced and the people that can afford the top end cards are expecting that.
"Nvidia pushed ray tracing way too soon." - Agreed, same goes for VR. Pushed right at the time the technology wasnt quite there. If they were to push now with the current tech it would land alot better; but sadly alot of people seem to have "VR bad and expensive" imprinted in their heads already...
Its ALWAYS "too soon", because it has to be out there in the market before developers can use it. The same has happened with every evolution of 3D tech, the early cards its practically unusable as you need to make it a standard thing everyone has so that eventually it has enough market penetration to become a mandatory feature in new games.
@@alexatkin Considering console development works on the exact opposite way, or at least used to, and that consoles beat PC for a very long time and still have half the gaming market I'm going to press X to doubt. For anyone that doesn't understand, when you're developing for consoles you get a development kit to work on that in the case of unreleased consoles might suffer modifications. You get to work with the hardware your game is going to run on far in advance of it ever being released to the public. As for early graphics cards, that is not my recollection. What I recall was that you could fallback to software render done on the CPU if you didn't have the right card the game supported. The same way PhysX ran on CPUs if you didn't have an Nvidia card a decade after GPUs had become standard.
The crazies part is that all Xbox SX gamers literally told Sony Ponies not to buy the Pro because it was not needed, and it was another way for Sony to get more gamers. But the PS5 Pro was not going to be a jump like it was with the PS4 and PS4 Pro, where the difference was actually noticeable. In some games, the PS5 Pro has proven to look more blury than the original PS5. But no, Sony Ponies kept laughing at Phil Spencer, Microsoft, and Xbox gamers because Microsoft didn't release an Xbox Pro, which Phil made it specifically clear it was pointless. The PS5 Pro isn't just a flop, but wait for the Sony handheld. It will die just like the Vita and the PSVR. 23:34 "What is the future of consoles?" I felt that there were warning signs when the xbone/ps4 were released and there were people saying that they just felt like pre-built pcs. Now it's increasingly more like consoles really are just pcs with a more closed ecosystem, with less innovation that makes having a console a unique and magical experience that you can't get anywhere else. Here's hoping the Switch successor will do some zany Nintendo-like innovative thing that reminds us again why consoles are special.
This is spot on. Unfortunately, the days of consoles offering unique hardware and software stacks to secure an unmistakable identity and that "magical" feel are all but gone. Sony and especially Nintendo have tried their best to carry their identities forward despite using someone else's hardware designs, but, eh.. 😕I think those days are just over.
If Sony wants to sell people the Pro versions of their consoles they better open up the settings and be more open platform. That way devs don't have to go back to the hardware to "unlock" the better tech and "pro enchance" the games. From my understanding on consoles settings are set in stone, so in order to increase, decrease or add it's on the devs to do so (unlike on PC where it's us the users that can tweak as we please). Yeah consoles just works overall, but when it comes down to tweak the experience you want to get, PCs also just works.
I never understood why consoles don't let you changes game settings so you can make it look however you want...It would make huge difference to alot of people!
@@brucepreston3927 Because the entire point of a console is for a user to not have to do that. At least in theory, the game should already be configured by the developer for optimal settings.
You can't compete with PCs as a console. PCs upgrade every single year. PS5 here is trying to compete with a 5 year old CPU, it's just not gonna happen. The issue is Sony is marketing itself as the absolute cutting edge, but it's all just marketing. The machine is not really a 4k 60 fpsmachine, the games that run at 4k are running in the medium to low settings range depending on if its quality or performance mode. Any 500 USD pc you build today is going to give you a better graphical experience.

A disc drive for the digital slim in my country is $200... 200 FUCKING DOLLARS! Why is it we live in a generation now where it seems like everyone, even the most honourable people are trying to rip you the fuck off? There is something deeply wrong with society. It's sick, and we need to find the way to fix it.
they're trying to rip you the fck off because they're testing the waters to see if they can go even further with that, and they will. The only language companies understand now is money, and the day they see a complete loss in selling their dogsh*t is the day they're gonna either go bankrupt or completely change, otherwise, this will continue till games get bland, have raytracing as their literal only highlight, cost an organ, have expensive DLCs that should be in the base game, and still don't be fun to play. This is the worst gen to live in, since unregulated capitalism was starting to infect gaming the day they noticed they could sell more with microtransactions, "DLCs" and gamepasses. to quote a guy I don't remember: "microtransactions went from funny lil bonuses, to the sole reason games are created in the first place" The solution to fix this? there's none, why? because: 1. There's still people that will stupidly defend and buy fcking PARTS for a console, since they got a blind faith in companies (quite sad I know) 2. Companies CAN and WILL make worse situations than 200$ for a disc drive, or 250$ for a skin and so on, thanks to the 1st point. 3. We're still considered a "minority" by the masses, and considered at most at the same level as otakus or smthn (sorry if you get confused with my grammar, English is not my native lang. but I hope you get the point)
About the whole disc drive thing, it hurts even more in Australia. Games are $125 digitally (roughly $80 USD), but you can often get them for $89-99 physically at one of our big electronic goods stores ($57-64usd) on release day, and the sales are way better than the digital ones as well.
Look at all those graphics settings, they're basically low-medium-high preset on PC, Sony might as well unlock graphics settings including upscaler and just give the user the freedom to choose, that way they can also avoid negativity since we can switch between FSR TSR or PSSR like in Silent hill2 and Jedi survivor where PSSR look way worse than FSR/TSR
Only thing that allows these puny PS5s to "outperform" PCs at the same price is the arbitrary settings they modify so that they can do "4k". If you open it then you can't market it the same way I don't think. People would figure out PS5 is a box that gives you medium settings at upscaled 4k, same as any 600 usd machine can do today.
“PC gaming” is a misnomer. It's become “GPU gaming”. The 60/40 (GPU/rest) cost split rule of thumb aligns with this; the PC parts are just minor support parts to the GPU. The GPU itself dominates and is just as monolithic as a gaming console and the vendors of both have monopolistic aspirations. The PS5 Pro is just a manifestation of the (economically) diminishing returns that GPU-oriented gaming has been facing for years in the PC space. And PC ports will always be “unoptimized” for somebody as long as there is no GPU (driver) standardization as developers will likely only give priority to one GPU vendor; so any available performance headroom will invariably be consumed by those games that don't optimize for your particular parts. Already there is one favoured GPU vendor and their products have become progressively more expensive while only providing marginal performance improvements with each successive generation.
that's bollocks I'm afraid. all other PC components and especially the CPU have a huge impact on games. the fact that you can use any peripheral on PC, from the latest and greatest VR headset down to the most ancient controllers, or just plain old keyboard and mouse, which enabled the complexity of classic MMOs and immersive story-driven first person shooters. additional software - overlays, video/streaming, mods, emulators, hacks. for a great deal of PC games you don't even need a discreet GPU. PC can enhance your gaming in a million more ways than just graphics.
@@space.raider.2271 It's your choice if you need a supercar to pick up your groceries but that's hardly a most-bang-for-the-buck scenario. Typically the highest end GPU will still be the bottleneck at max settings even with a Ryzen 5 7500F. To make the CPU the bottleneck you have to reduce the graphics settings so that the GPU can operate at a higher FPS, giving the CPU more work to do. This is why in “CPU Reviews, How Gamers Are Getting It Wrong” they need to drop to 1080p native to show the most dramatic difference between a 7700X and 9800X3D. So from that perspective putting most of your investment toward the GPU while only committing just enough to keep the CPU from becoming the bottleneck for your particular usage profile is the way to go.
It's insane how people think that a console that is supposedly 45% than the base PS5 with an upscaler that doesn't even matches DLSS is faster than a 4090 (I've seen tons of comment before launch). In reality it doesn't even outperforms the PS5 (Disregarding PSSR) by 45% most of the time more like 30-40% range(based on framerate alone). To at least match the 4090 alone you would need at least 300% more power.
Thats cause about 95% of console owners have no idea how hardware works. All they talk about is Tflop numbers and think thats the overall deciding factor into how well a system is going to perform.
@@fliptomylou8880 The TFlop thing is not the case here. What those comparisons match, is comparing the "quality 4K gaming" unchecked hearsay, as equal to actual not upscaled 4k, that computes visual detail way above what the consoles do. The people who don't see ANY difference at all (playing in person, not watching a compressed youtube video) need one or more of the following three things: 1) Corrective lenses (or a new prescription on their current ones.) This legitimately alters your visual perception of everything. 2) A larger and/or better 4K display. 3) To actually sit close enough to your TV to reap the benefits of 4K. Most people sit way too far back, at distances where 720p/1080p/4K look almost equivalent. It's pretty certain to say the console and game developers were going wrong direction for the last 4-5 years or so, ever since "Ray-Tracing" becomes the new marketing gimmick. Every time the hardware were improved by some margin, will then fully consumed by a tiny visual gimmick like ray-tracing or shadow effect, which is almost indistinguishable, but eat up all the horsepower that suppose to give a better frame rate and basic graphic.

There is a solid reason for the PS5 Pro, if you care… Instead of Quality Mode at 30FPS, it’s now 60FPS. & many games that struggled hitting 60, are now consistent 60. Pretty simple. Playing Spiderman Remastered/2 at Quality Mode with Ray Tracing + 60FPS, is a big deal. While the price should’ve been $600 max… & I do see where you aren’t gonna notice much on side by sides, the 60FPS is huge. I personally just can’t do 30FPS, but 60FPS is a game changer. I have a Alienware R16 with RTX4080 and 60-120FPS max settings is what I do. But I like playing while in bed a ton Vs my PC room, so PS5 Pro doing all it’s games finally in 60FPS is why I finally got one instead of the Base PS5. Doubling of frame rate is huge, sadly you can’t notice it unless you’re playing, and then it’s a big deal.
but it wasnt even locked at 60 fps, games were around 50-60 fps, not stable. and some games even had stutters with 33 fps being the 1% lows...... playing a game with non stable fps feels worse than locked at a specific framerate. unless you got FPS numbers thats far beyond what console can deliver
“My 4080 is 60-120 in spider-man” you either dont have ine, or something is supremely wrong with your system. It should be over 100fps at max settings, and native 4k 100% of the time. My 3070 is around 60 at native 4k.

@@GoalOrientedLifting hmm Ragnarok & ‘spooder’ man were playing at 60FPS for me, and I didn’t notice much or any issues with frame rate as I have VRR turned on between 48-60FPS on the console for their PS5 Pro patches. I’ve never played Elden Ring before yet, I think Pro gets it in the VRR range for no tearing and less latency.
So a couple reasons why i bought one: 1. PS5 was overheating ( and I know ps5 pro also overheats) 2. Not having to choose between modes ( I am a mainly quality mode player and so even any “balanced” or “pro” suffices well for me ) 3. Potential Tariffs- (written in December 2024) I’m not buying a PS6 of tariffs are implemented so i upgraded now just in case On the topic of ray tracing… it’s okay and better for sure but the trade offs are sometimes hard to stomach especially in games like Alan Wake 2, Hogwarts Legacy, and more. Now I know about issues with PSSR but I know they’ll be fixed over time and will be better implemented in games such as Ghost of Yotei, GTA 6, Wolverine , Death Stranding 2. But TLDR in my opinion if you aren’t a mainly quality mode player or have a VRR TV (THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT) I wouldn’t upgrade. But like I said for me I’ve been enjoying the upgrade especially in games like GT7 and Stellar Blade.
Somehow the PS5 Pro doesnt make me feel confident about RDNA 4's performance improvement. I mean that 67% more cores and 28% more memory speed doesn't make a huge jump in PS5 Pro. And not to mention the price increase.
It's the exact same CPU, so there's a decent chance the GPU is bottlenecked. But it's also different to a dedicated GPU. Personally don't think it's a good indicator of what the Radeon RX 8000 series will be like.
@@12coco100especially when you consider AMD’s recent marketing blunders(5800xt cpu), and the leaks for the 8800xt look like they used RE4 as their RT litmus test to say its 45% faster at RT. I think the 8800xt is DOA if its priced $600+.
My take on the PS5 Pro after owning it since launch is that unpatched PS5 games that use dynamic resolutions and/or have unstable 30 and 60 fps framerates now look and/or run much better than on the base system but this is just a band-aid really for unoptimised games. These are usually from third-parties and many upscale to 4K for very low resolutions. Those third-party games that have been enhanced with a patch for the Pro tend to look the worse with PSSR because of the low base rendering resolutions. That is why Silent Hill 2, Alan Wake 2, Star Wars: Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor look so bad on the Pro versus the PS5. The first-party games typically have much better optimisation using higher resolutions and/or framerates that lock better to 30 or 60 fps so those games tend to look better on the Pro when using PSSR, fixing issues with aliasing and shimmering. PSSR, like other AI upscalers, tends to work best with higher resolutions of 1440p+. I am enjoying my Pro but my experience of the games so far has been a mixed bag of the good, the bad and the downright ugly. It is admittedly disappointing to even have games that are running or looking worse than on the base system. That should never happen in my opinion, certainly not on a console that costs £700 (£800 with the disc drive). Sony need to step in and do something about this, perhaps curate these Pro patches to ensure they meet the required quality expected of a Pro enhanced game.
This is the problem with modern content creators today. They upload a video that people are likely watching on a small screen, it’s compressed, and then they think because people weren’t able to tell the difference that it’s somehow indicative of the point they’re trying to prove.

I got two wrong - but the base PS5 (slim) with a disc drive has been discounted to $430 here (black friday), while the PS5 Pro is $799 without a disc drive and $899 with a disc drive = double the price for a very small difference. >-< Also keep in mind that memory prices have fallen since the launch of the PS5. 4 TB cost $1,000 back then - today it's around $400. From this perspective, the insane price increase for the PRO makes even less sense.
It's transformational in GT7 for VR. That's why I bought it. In general, this thing is a nice to have. I do have to note that over time, high specs will deliver diminishing returns in terms graphics quality. People cannot realistically expect future consoles to look as dramatically better as games did from PS1 - PS2 or PS2 - PS3 even. This is probably a preview of the PS6... we may get better clarity but the new generation's challenge is related to lightning and clarity which often time is perceived as minor changes considering developers have gotten pretty good at giving passable lighting effects using non-traced techniques due to decades of experience.
I don’t understand the bashing on the PS5 Pro because of one or two unoptimized games. You don’t get an equivalent PC for that price. No pc comes with a disc drive anymore for the past decade. PC comes with its own issues every single time. I have one and up and on my games crashed, didn’t startup and I can go on and on. I still play PC but the PS5 pro is very impressive. This console does exactly what it says. In Europe they cost even $100 more. Everything got more expensive.
>Ryzen 7 3700X for $98 USD >RX6800XT for $420 USD >cheapo M-ATX mobo for $70 >cheapo 16GB DDR4 RAM for $25 >2TB m.2 SSD for $110 >600W PSU for $90 >PC case for $50 >total price $861 USD >add a used BD drive for $30 >compare to a PS5 Pro with both a stand *and* a disk drive for $810 "bro trust me you can't get a PS5-Pro-equivalent PC for that price point trust me"
For $800 we can build a pretty good PC. If we use the new Intel GPU we can spend more money on the CPU and get way better performance than a console in these CPU limited games. Once we spend the initial sum, it’s cheaper over the long run to upgrade parts here and there rather than needing to spend another $500-$800 (my prediction is the PS6 will be $500 _without_ the disc drive) the next time a new console comes out. Plus digital game prices on PC are way better than digital game prices on consoles so if they ditch the disc drive there’s basically no reason to buy one anymore. I’m really excited to see what Valve does with SteamOS and if it’ll finally allow me to ditch Windows on my desktop PC.
15 percent performance increase but at a 60 percent price mark-up. I see they have finally adopted Nvidia's business model.
It's even worse - I could run Path tracing on pc of that spec. Pisser is destroying that console.
Isn't it more of a 120% markup in price? In the Black Friday sales you could get a PS5 digital for less than half of the price of a PS5 pro. If you went preowned you could get a PS5 digital at around a 3rd of the price. It is insane - Insane I tells ya!

On top of this, the PS3 was a new generation of console. The leap in graphics from PS2, GameCube, Wii, and Xbox was huge.
I've been saying this they're rushing these games & consoles out way too fast.
Agreed. The 4060ti should breeze through 1440p gaming. That card struggles a lot

23:34 "What is the future of consoles?"
I felt that there were warning signs when the xbone/ps4 were released and there were people saying that they just felt like pre-built pcs.
Yeah that's how I feel as well in hindsight and what made me want to go to pc
This is spot on. Unfortunately, the days of consoles offering unique hardware and software stacks to secure an unmistakable identity and that "magical" feel are all but gone. Sony and especially Nintendo have tried their best to carry their identities forward despite using someone else's hardware designs, but, eh.. 😕I think those days are just over.
799€ for the Pro in the EU and another 119€ for the drive + 50€ for the stand. That's like 1030$ but where's the value?

This is the worst gen to live in, since unregulated capitalism was starting to infect gaming the day they noticed they could sell more with microtransactions, "DLCs" and gamepasses. to quote a guy I don't remember: "microtransactions went from funny lil bonuses, to the sole reason games are created in the first place"
The solution to fix this? there's none, why? because:
1. There's still people that will stupidly defend and buy fcking PARTS for a console, since they got a blind faith in companies (quite sad I know)
2. Companies CAN and WILL make worse situations than 200$ for a disc drive, or 250$ for a skin and so on, thanks to the 1st point.
3. We're still considered a "minority" by the masses, and considered at most at the same level as otakus or smthn
(sorry if you get confused with my grammar, English is not my native lang. but I hope you get the point)
But then they would be basically a premium priced PC that can't compete with PCs priced at their same price range.

What the fuck are you talking about
Sony wouldn't struggle if they made a pro-consumer console. You know. All that good stuff plus disc drive and the ability to actually own your games.

PS5 PRO is the beta test for PS6
It's insane how people think that a console that is supposedly 45% than the base PS5 with an upscaler that doesn't even matches DLSS is faster than a 4090 (I've seen tons of comment before launch). In reality it doesn't even outperforms the PS5 (Disregarding PSSR) by 45% most of the time more like 30-40% range(based on framerate alone). To at least match the 4090 alone you would need at least 300% more power.
anyone who compares a console to a 4090 deserves to be clowned on
Thats cause about 95% of console owners have no idea how hardware works. All they talk about is Tflop numbers and think thats the overall deciding factor into how well a system is going to perform.
i mean what would you expect from them ? they don't even have brain
@@fliptomylou8880 The TFlop thing is not the case here. What those comparisons match, is comparing the "quality 4K gaming" unchecked hearsay, as equal to actual not upscaled 4k, that computes visual detail way above what the consoles do.

The people who don't see ANY difference at all (playing in person, not watching a compressed youtube video) need one or more of the following three things:
1) Corrective lenses (or a new prescription on their current ones.) This legitimately alters your visual perception of everything.
2) A larger and/or better 4K display.
3) To actually sit close enough to your TV to reap the benefits of 4K. Most people sit way too far back, at distances where 720p/1080p/4K look almost equivalent.
Now, if you can see the differences and you simply don't feel like it's worth $780, that's a whole different discussion and opinions will vary from person to person.
Personally, I don't even care if they make the graphics prettier. To be honest, graphics have been pretty good since the PS3/360. What I care about is 60fps. Games feel SO much smoother and more responsive with it. This is especially noticeable in games where you can pan the camera around. 30fps is sluggish, 60fps is smooth. 20:19 I'm not sure what else you were expecting. That's a similar ratio to the PS4 compared to the PS4 Pro. Of course the more expensive console that doesn't target the average consumer, is going to sell less.
Quit your bitching. It’s $950+ Canadian here and that still without 4k blu disk drive and no stand. Not that I am buying one anyways. If came with stand and disc drive and they threw in free game them maybe might be worth it. Yes, The upgrade is minimum. The fact the cpu is same zen 2 cpu make no sense. The cpu will bottleneck the gpu some in some games. They prob did for cost cus zen 3 CPUs here still kinda over priced. So I think that why it’s so expensive, Cus parts have not gone down much.
R&C : Rift apart was suppose look better on pro. But the different is kinda minor. The pro should came with both more Vram and System ram. Give dev more access more Vram. The pro should came with disc drive and zen 3 cpu. But they prob going do that for ps6. It probably be zen 4+ Soc or newer.

If anyone ever needed a reason to ditch consoles for PC gaming then the PS5 pro is it. Here in Europe it’s €800 for the console and with the disk drive and stand we’re close to €1000. Id rather get a better spec’d PC for that price
Here I am, from the Netherlands. As they revealed the specs and price of the pro version, I decided to fk Sony back. All games will be cross play cross platform cross progression in the near future. No more €150 subscription psn a year. Next console will be priced absurd. People are sheeps these days. You need to fck big corporations and let them know when enough is enough. That price will keep increasing. It’s on my desk if I need a little more heat in my room. I got a LG Ultragear 45 inch curved oled, i7-14700KF - 4060 TI 16GB. 64gb ddr4. 5tb storage.. look for marketplace and search the item find it second hand brand new for way cheaper. Next upgrade is 4080 super or 50 series. I forgot to tell about GeForce now if you can’t afford a beefy gpu. Only winning on pc. Ooh and I can pirate things like we did in 2008 👀👀. I play a game and if I like it I buy it. Like I create my own demos.
If you go used you can get an EVEN BETTER deal
@ Exactly, so many people upgrading their systems with the new GPUs set to come out next month so lots of good deals to be had on RTX 3000/4000 series or AMD 6000/7000 series. Pair that with a R5 7500f for +-150$ and you’re good to go with a system far superior to PS5 Pro.
Why does RUclips delete my comment?
All I’m saying is: f Sony back for their greedy €800 not even next gen console. Imagine PS6 what they will do with your wallet?… LAUGHING TO THE BANK WITH IT HAHAHA. Prepare for 1200€ console release. Don’t buy a PlayStation anymore. Don’t pay increased PSN 150€ per year. All games in the future will be cross play/cross progression blabla. It’s better for you to buy a pc. Gaming is not for fun anymore. It’s to abuse dumb people who are being manipulated by a corporation. I now own LG Ultragear 45 inch curved oled, a i7-14700KF - 4060 ti 16GB. 64gb ddr4. Full with noctua fans. I can play every game as a demo if I want. I am the pirate I was in 2008. If I really like the game I’ll buy it on steam or w/e. I also have GeForce now for 6months. I can spare money to buy the newest gpu if I really need it. Really guys, stop giving money for really the smallest improvement’s…. When they release the PS6 people will hopefully wake up.
😂 I love how ps5 pro fans keep saying it’s better than a a high end pc but it’s on par with a 500 dollar pc rtx2070 it’s barely better than base ps5

I get the sentiment but you are NOT getting something better than a ps5 for 500, let alone a ps5 pro. You need to invest like 800 for something even on par with a base ps5. And if youre already doing that you might as well just invest a couple hundred more for something more powerful.
Vex, you nailed it with this video. I built my 13900k/4090 PC a month after wasting $$$ on a BS5
Alan Wake can look as realistic as possible, it’s still boring as shit 😂
The Series X is $500 and more powerful than the PS5 Pro. I wish I was kidding.
Mine went back about a week ago. I'm still enjoying the original PS5, mainly with PS4 titles and versions like Elden Ring.
Casual gamers aren't concerned about the difference in color pallets & frame rates....a character clothing being slightly darker than the OG version isn't important to me. I'm not saying the Pro is trash. But I rather save myself $800 or $900 continue to build my.gaming Library with the current system & have a blast.....
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I have a PS5 Pro, and EVERY game with PSSR has some sort of film grain effect. Even Spider-Man 2 and Gran Turismo 7 have it, just to a much lesser extent than games like Alan Wake 2 due to the higher input resolution. But it's there.
Funny how he talked about Digital Foundry as "The Tech Review Guys" but didn't play ANY of their analysis. Instead, he show Linus, Skill Up, Angry Joe, Asmongold, etc.
He literally used their frame time screens/video playing and showing the fps differences bruh
@@chromesucks5299 Bruh, it was 5 seconds of a compressed video from another RUclips channel that got it from another video. If you think that's good analysis, you're funny. Watch Digital Foundry instead of this guys if you want honest tech analysis. Oh and the frame counter snippets are misleading. Even base model PS5 games get 60 fps (or more depending) for the most part. He cherry picked instances where game devs didn't best optimize.
@@edouardmorisseau7748 the fucking video wasnt the point, it was THE GRAPHS THAT WERE RUNNING ON IT, Esp the frame time ones.
Completely missed the point.
You can literally READ the fps count on corner.
@@ArchieBunker11 I didn’t say I played Spider Man on PC, I said when I’m not on my PC, I’d still like to game and PS5 Pro allows me to play alot of games at 60FPS while still looking good, therefore I got one in my bedroom because I’m used to 60-120+ on PC lol.
@@GoalOrientedLifting hmm Ragnarok & ‘spooder’ man were playing at 60FPS for me, and I didn’t notice much or any issues with frame rate as I have VRR turned on between 48-60FPS on the console for their PS5 Pro patches. Dunno about too many other games til I buy more tho, getting Gran Turismo 7 next to try that has a Pro patch. I’ve never played Elden Ring before yet, I think Pro gets it in the VRR range for no tearing and less latency.
early congrats on 100k !
Does only the 700 dollar one do ray tracing cuz my 320 dollar Xbox series x supports native 4k and Ray tracing and HDR
So a couple reasons why i bought one:
1. PS5 was overheating ( and I know ps5 pro also overheats)
2. Not having to choose between modes ( I am a mainly quality mode player and so even any “balanced” or “pro” suffices well for me )
3. Potential Tariffs- (written in December 2024) I’m not buying a PS6 of tariffs are implemented so i upgraded now just in case
On the topic of ray tracing… it’s okay and better for sure but the trade offs are sometimes hard to stomach especially in games like Alan Wake 2, Hogwarts Legacy, and more.
But like I said for me I’ve been enjoying the upgrade especially in games like GT7 and Stellar Blade.
lol i literally cannot tell the difference in most of them
I bought the Pro mainly for VR and Gran Turismo 7 alone made it worth it. The blur is gone on the Pro.
Personally don't think it's a good indicator of what the Radeon RX 8000 series will be like.
the ray tracing efficiency is from rdna 2 not the whole gpu architecture. I believe it's still rdna 2 cores.
@@12coco100 it's not rdna 2
@@mitsuhh My bad I ment to say the rt efficiency are from rdna 4 not 2
@@12coco100especially when you consider AMD’s recent marketing blunders(5800xt cpu), and the leaks for the 8800xt look like they used RE4 as their RT litmus test to say its 45% faster at RT.

I got two wrong - but the base PS5 (slim) with a disc drive has been discounted to $430 here (black friday),
while the PS5 Pro is $799 without a disc drive and $899 with a disc drive = double the price for a very small difference. >-<
Also keep in mind that memory prices have fallen since the launch of the PS5.
4 TB cost $1,000 back then - today it's around $400.
From this perspective, the insane price increase for the PRO makes even less sense.
I wanted to get it, but when I found out, it was a scam. I canceled my pre-order.
As a mainly PCVR sim racing enthusiast, GT is the only reason I get on PlayStation. There’s nothing else like it

"bro trust me you can't get a PS5-Pro-equivalent PC for that price point trust me"
Ive gotten almost all of them wrong by 5:30. I'm done, no reason to go Pro.
