  • Step by step video repairing a broken Futures fin box on a DD surfboard (my daily driver shape heavily influenced by the Pyzel Phantom XL and Lost Quiver Killer) that I made for a buddy of min. In this video I use polyester resin with Qcell to fill the repair hole because this board was made with a PU, polyurethane blank, but also use Greenlight Surf Supply epoxy to do the fiber glass, since this board was originally glassed with epoxy. Resin is tinted with the same pigment with the same orange that was originally used when the board was made.
Help the channel with your next surfboard supply order: greenlightsurf...
This board was originally finished with a wipe on acrylic finish. So I sanded the entire bottom to remove the original finish in order to get an even coat. This finish is an old swaylocks secret, concrete sealer.
Feel free to comment with any questions you may have. Also, if you have alternative methods please share them. I am always looking for better ways of doing things.

Nice job. My pet peeve is not at least attempting to color match. 🤙🏼

Thanks for checking it out. I give the fit and form on this repair a solid A. It’s the finish color and blemishes that I give a C on. First time doing a fin box with color, so I should get better.

@@callalilycollective I did a repair on a rail and simply painted acrylic paint after hot coat and sprayed some gloss over it. Came out great as it didn’t darken or lighten as in the resin.

@@allsurf good call, I think I’ll try that next time.
