ToastedKat missed some red gems in Beast Makers. On the island with the big tree that has TreeTops on it, where the hog is he never crosses back over to get the red gems. At 24:46 in your video you can see them to the left next to green gems as well.
i love stuff like this, this is like a more extreme version of how i like to take speedrun tactics and use them for just fucking around and having fun in casual play. and its suuuper satisfying seeing all the end of level gems being all red! i kinda wanna see a tas for each of the gem colors now

Imagine a 5 run-speedrun where you get all the reds, finish and start a new run, get all the greens, rinse repeat for the other gem types
I've done a bit of TASing in the past and I am *so* appreciative that you explain what a TAS is correctly. it's such a trope for people to describe a TAS as a theoretically perfect run but that's nowhere close to true! describing it as crafting the run frame by frame is such a perfect way of putting it.
1,026 red gems in the entire game. Not even enough to scrape by Peace Keepers. But, can you imagine the volume of over 1000 individual gems?

For those unfamilar - a TAS is a Tool Assisted Superplay/Speedrun. Playthroughs like this are created by a person recording and adjusting their inputs frame by frame in an emulator, and then playing those recorded inputs back in a video like the one you see here

I love seeing stuff like this, even your reaction to the jump over the hedge in the beginning is so exciting. I wonder how much of this could be worked into a human-run speedrun! Even tiny movements like jumping the hedge. : D
Or perhaps some new categories instead, allowing for fun things like this to be options!

28:11 To avoid collecting other gems from the enemies thrown at you by Metalhead, I have my strategy:
1) for the strongarms, I just flame them and avoid the dropped gem;
2) for the armored banana boys, I wait for them to roll towards me, then at the right time I jump and charge them "on their head". In this way, they drop the gems but you do not collect them.
The important thing is that they must not impact on the wall, since in this case the gem would be automatically collected. The only exception is that they impact on the last metal pylon in the first or in the last stage of the battle, as they automatically stop moving and drop the gem quite far from you.
The only problem of this strategy is that it's time consuming. I don't know whether its worth it or not in a run, but since the goal of this challenge is to collect red gems only, it could be a useful tip.

Cool TAS. At least, between you, Pikasprey, Game grumps & chores I've been neglecting, I'll have plenty to do while I wait for the last of this hard drive crap to finalize.
Fun last two weeks messing with the effing hard drive in my PS3, blind. After a couple days of figuring out how to get the PS3 OS onto the new hard drive without backing up the old one, just so it would boot up properly, I bought a SATA cable to use the old hard drive as an external & transfer its contents directly to the new installed one, only to learn that that is physically impossible for a number of reasons. Then, I was under the impression that none of the DLC would transfer over when I did do it, so I wasted about three days, using up my entire month's data for my government tablet's Hotspot to re-download about half of all the DLC & downloaded games, only to learn that it wasn't necessary. Then, I had to buy a whole new flash drive big enough to back up my old hard drive to do a system reset on the new one, because that was the only external storage media the PS3 would accept the existence of. I did that, only to find that everything transferred over, but all the download able content was "corrupted" & had to be re-download all over again. But, after yelling at it for incompetence for a while, as I angrily searched for an easier fix to the issue, found out that all you have to do to fix that is reinstall the most recent system update & it magically fixes everything. Fuck me.
Now, all I need to do is update the trophy data from my PSN account, re-download some of the downloadable games I have that came for free on some of my physical games that I didn't have on there originally, due to space, transfer the ownership of my Assassin's Creed 3 DLC from my physical copy to the downloadable one from The America's Collection & check for patches on two new games that I bought, & everything is finally done. Guess, I'm just glad I know how to do it, now.
Although, I am still trying to figure out why my PS3 occasionally doesn't acknowledge bluray discs. Its the third PS3 I've every owned, the only one that ever did this & its done it the entire time I've had it. Sometimes, it just loads & loads, then gives up without either a disc start icon to pop up, or an error message that the disc is unreadable. Usually, if you try enough times, it eventually gets it. I thought it was a vibration issue when I set it on a couch cushion once & it had no disc problems, but that turjed out to be an inconsistent fix. Then, I thought I fixed it when I installed the new hard drive & the problem seemed to completely stop. Turns out it hasn't, it just changed to where the first bluray disc you put in it when it boots up, it will often ignore its existence for a while. Take it out & put any other bluray in, it boots it up first try. Once it does recognize the disc, there is no longer any issue. You can take it out & put it back in- so long as you never turn the PS3 off, there is no issue in finding the disc. No issue ever has occurred with either CDs or DVDs, just blurays, and I don't get what would even cause such a bizarre performance issue.
There should be a mod where every gem is replaced with a red gem. Like keep the same amount of gems, but all be red.

Whenever I'm trying to explain what a TAS is and how it works I always compare them to player pianos... The "TAS" itself is like the sheet of paper put into a player piano with every input being one of the holes that tell the piano what note to play when and the program playing those inputs back are the piano... idk, but this usually helps get new people to better understand what's going on.
You said Zera Myths Awakened, and I got instantly sad! I was following that forever and it made me so sad that they got a cease and desist! But I did love Cyreides' adorable character they made up :)

Honestly if this was attempted non-TAS you might have to plan out the hits to lose sparx just before mixed gem spots like chests in case you miss quit-outs
