    I added an owl vans ladder (with spare tire) to the back of our interstate 19, and the had a mount that attached to the top of the ladder. Just closed the cord in the door. The height gives me much better reception everywhere, and it even works while driving!!

      I am glad to hear the height helps getting better reception as we plan to mount ours on the roof.

    I see more and more people using this system. My sister lives in Alaska and tells me almost everyone uses Starlink in the interior. Haven’t needed it where we camp but you never know!
    Only you could make a Starlink unboxing glamorous.
    Beautiful hands and nails.
    Super video as always.
    Thanks guys.

      Awww….thank you Doug! You are always kind with your comments. Our friends rented class A in Alaska and brought their Starlink along to get signals while camping in the wild. 🤗

    Tradeoffs - Mounting On The Roof . . . . When I camp I try to park the van under trees, in the shade, to keep the van as cool as possible . . . If you mount a Starlink Dish on your Van, you can no longer park in the shade, as the trees obstruct the direct line of sight for the dish . . . In addition, some campground sites are set up so that the parking area for the van/RV is adjacent to trees - then what? Park your van awkwardly so the mounted satellite dish is in the “right” location? . . . Or you can mount the Starlink dish on a portable stand/tripod so you can move it around . . . or maybe (hypothetically) a dish mounted to your RV with a "Quick Release" so you can move it to a stand/tripod if necessary . . . . Starlink is a great technology, but the "tree thing" leads to many tradeoffs.

      We thought about obstructions from trees in some campsites too so we are looking at the Quick Release base to mount the Starlink so we could take it off the roof when needed and already bought extra cable. However the Quick Release is on back order for at least 2 months so for now we will probably use the magnetic feet for the flat mount so we can take it off when needed also.

    I also have Starlink although I had issues with the first one. To say Starlink made efforts to fix via the app and trouble shooting is an understatement, by sending new cables, router etc, it still would take hours to come out of stow mode, and boot with a lot of work by me to boot , reboot , reset. They finally sent me a complete new unit, gave me usage credits for the 2 months of trying to fix and now the new one works fantastic, boots up in 10 minutes or less. I certainly became a Starlink expert. Cant wait to see the roof mount you do as I have delayed that as an option as it really only takes me 10 minutes to set up. I simply run the cable through the driver door window and leave it open a 1/2”. Set the router on the table behind the drivers seat and done. PS. I did buy a stereo speaker tripod that raises the dish up to 6 feet as many parks where I live have a lot of tree obstructions and like you I can still get great speeds with partial obstructed message on the app.

      Thank you for sharing your experience. There is not much storage area in our van so mounting it on the roof would free up some storage space. We are still trying to figure out where on the roof to mount it since there is not much space on the roof either. 😂😂

    It's about time😊 you will love it. I got lucky and grandfathered into a $115 per month plan. Nice to have in those zero cell coverage areas.

      We just rewatched your Starlink videos this morning. 🤗 There is just no space on our roof so we are thinking of buying this so we can remove the Starlink mount when there are too many obstruction. Would using the 3M tape work for this metal base on top of the AC cover?

      @@BamBamRVAdventures Yes as long as you use the 3M VHB primer. And also make sure the AC cover is on tightly. Usually the AC cover is attached to the AC with 4 screws, and the plastic likes to break near the screw holes. So adding larger washers at the screws help, but I'm not familiar with your New AC if that has a similar set up.

      @BamBamRVAdventures  9 месяцев назад +2

      @@rvlifediy Our AC cover has many screws all around. My husband just check that removable mount is on back order so we probably will look for a way to use the magnetic feet on the roof.

    surprised you didnt buy the in-motion version, i mounted the in-motion on my sprinter van. its super. i didnt want to consume the storage space in the vehicle.

    • @BamBamRVAdventures
      @BamBamRVAdventures  9 месяцев назад

      The in motion version is nice and for sure will have better signals than this standard version. The way Airstream placed all their stuffs on the roof there is just no more room for that size dish unless we have to remove one solar panel to make room for it. We only have 150 watts to the house and that is barely enough for us to use. Wish we could add more efficient panels in the future.

    Thank you for sharing the setup video. I also purchased a “roaming” service and dish but I couldn’t find a “ Pause” button after initial testing/setup. Do you guys have the option to pause within 14 days grace period before it is generated a $150 monthly charge? Thanks ahead for your help.

    • @BamBamRVAdventures
      @BamBamRVAdventures  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for watching 🤗I am not sure how to cancel before the 14 days since we just activated our subscription a few days after we received it and used it for 30 days.
      We did cancel the subscription a week before 30 days and it continued to work until 30 days.

      @@BamBamRVAdventures I’ve contacted starlink about the pause button. The button appeared at next day in the website. I was able to stop the service before the grace period ends. 😅
