  • First time sleeping at the rest area was a good experience for us. We will definitely do this more often on long trips.

    Truck stops are the best, well lit, cameras everywhere and a large parking lot too

    Need vid on Genius Hubbys Echo install, we have one, Max 200 but I just plug it in to 30 amp -15amp adapter and put under the Airstream, usually dead at 10% cutoff in AM charging the house batteries. Works for us 😊 but would like to see hubbys great idea !😊

      Hi Kingswood97, this is "genius Hubby" here, lol. I have only connected thick 14 gauge extension cords and cut off the other end to connect to a new outlet which replaces the original outlet by the galley and the other outlet above for the Microwave. So far, since we don't use it much, we charge our ecoflow via the inverter from the outlet near the Tv. However, I have not charged the house battery with it yet, but I think that's what you are doing is what I would do too. A gentleman on the FB forum connected the ecoflo directly into the van via a transfer switch and DC to DC charger, but that is above my "genius" capabilities, lol.

      @@vincentesq great idea to dedicate those loads to the bigger 2000 watt inverter . Thanks for sharing .

    I’m very spent a lot of nights in rest areas and truck stops with no issues. If it doesn’t seem safe trust your instincts, and find another spot. Always find a spot under a street lamp pool if possible.
    I’m heading out today for FL so I’ll be doing the above quite a bit in the next seven days.

      Hi Jason, parking under a street lamp post is a great tip that’s why we also parked in a very bright area of that rest area. Do you think the rest area are quieter in general than the truck stops? Have a fun and safe trip to Fl 🚐🚐

    We are from Coral Gables and travel around the east coast in our Sprinter. We very often stay at Interstate Highway rest areas. We have never experienced a problem and rest areas are so convenient because whenever you get tired, there is bound to be a rest area coming up. In the morning, we just wake up and hit the road. No problem, no worries. That said, our Sprinter is set up with a 12V air conditioner, a Cruise N Comfort unit that can run all night and into the next day on lithium batteries. We have 680 amp hours of lithium, so no worries. We charge the batteries with a regular stock alternator (not an extra added alternator) and we have 700 watts of solar. We also have a 3,000 watt Victron inverter so the batteries charge up fast when we are able to find any 20 amp outlet. Regarding the truck noise at rest areas, we find that most of the time we can parking far enough from the tractor trailer trucks so we don't hear them running. On a side note, among the advantages of the Cruise N Comfort AC unit is that the condenser is mounted under the vehicle, so we don't have an AC unit on the roof. This provides better clearance and a more stealth look. Thanks for the great video and best regards, Mike

      Thank you for the insights on the rest areas, Mike. Now we can sleep there on our long trips. That AC unit sounds amazing with the ability to mount under the van for more stealthy look. Where do you put all your solar panels? We hardly have any space to add more solar panels.

    • @accountingstepbystep2229
      @accountingstepbystep2229 7 месяцев назад +2

      Sorry about the late reply. I use the 175-watt Renogy high-efficiency monocrystalline solar panels. The panels are 49.7"W x 27.5"L so at, 49.7” wide the panels end right above the factory roof rails. There are 3 mounted on the Sprinter now for a total of 525 watts and I have another one ready to mount in the remaining space on my 144-wheel base Sprinter so there will be a total of 700 watts once I get around to mounting the last panel. I don’t have an AC or a vent fan and have just the factory antennas and one other antenna on the roof so there is more room. Happy Holidays and best regards, Mike from Miami.

    Is your Echoflow wired to the van or do you keep it separate? We have a class B Travato and would like an alternative to using the generator even though it's a pretty quiet inverter type. Where do you have space for the Echoflow?

    • @BamBamRVAdventures
      @BamBamRVAdventures  8 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you for watching Phil. The Ecoflow is a separate power source. We just plug extension cords into it and run out to wherever we want an outlet to be. We cut off the other end of the extension cord and connect it into a new outlet. Then we just plug our microwave into that new outlet. We can do a video to show how we run the extension cords. It is stored in the garage portion of our van on the right side when we open the back doors.It’s the Ecoflow Delta 2 Max so it is the new small version. It’s on sale on Amazon now. 😂

    Hi! Bam Bam! Hope you could see my massage. where you bought the mattress topper? I try a lot of them but no one looks better than yours! please help to let me know! Thank you so So so So much for you!

      We have this mattress topper for our king size bed for a long time and I think I bought it at Costco. Since we bought an adjustable bed we couldn’t use this topper so I cut it to fit our old van Roadtrek SRT. It fits our Airstream a little narrower but since I like it so much I just kept it like that. I know what you mean when you can’t find the right one. I bought a different brand but it just didn’t feel right so we kept using this one even though it is not a perfect fit. Sorry couldn’t help you with the brand of this topper.
