      @TrailRecon, Brad, you had the perfect truck when you had your RAM for long distance and an Arctic Expedition trip. IDK why you would have gotten rid of it?! Jeeps are so small, uncomfortable and cramped, especially for long distance driving/off-roading.

      How’s that emissions crap doing. I have a 24 model 6.7 Cummins and it hates low speed driving you’ll clog up that DPF filter in 300 miles. I’m hoping you deleted all that or you’re gonna have major issues

    Really glad to see such a high quality channel getting into the full size space. Those of us who have opted for big rigs over Jeeps and Toyota's finally get to see the vehicles we own and love doing the things you've done so well capturing on camera. Next step will be a content creator such as yourself leading an expedition for full size trucks.

    • @derekheuring2984
      @derekheuring2984 6 месяцев назад +11

      Well, maybe. Long distance driving with long gaps between service stations then yes, you want a diesel. If you want the utmost in off-road capability in a full-size truck then Power Wagon is the way to go and they only offer the gasser for very good reasons: less weight over the front suspension. Power Wagon's go where no rebel has gone before.

    Funny you should post this Video ….. just yesterday myself and some friends got my new Bed mounted rack & OVS systems Nomadic tent and 270 degree awning installed on my ‘02 GMC Sierra Duramax powered rig . I’m up on 8” lift & 37’s ever since I bought the truck almost 22 years ago now . Believe it or not it’s only got a little over 142,000 miles ,as I drove my Chevy 2500 eleven foot bed Dually service truck for my main business and used the GMC only for weekends with various trips out camping towing trailers / boat or Bikes in bed. About 10 months ago I got serious about retirement and at 64 now am FINALLY pursuing my dream of an Overlanding rig . I figured “ what the Hell , I already own a solid platform “ that’s been hands down one of the best trucks I’ve EVER owned , and build from there .Really looking forward to seeing where you go with this trip you & Brad and the few others will travel . My bucket list of my own places is growing ….. 😏. Way cool build you did by the way 😎👍

    Ahhh this is such a cool build - and such a timely video for me. I've got a Gladiator now and have sort of been in the debate on building it out to be a travel machine. But... we just had our third kiddo and simultaneously I'm realizing I'm more interested in the bigger/longer trips than just going for day-crawls on the mountains just west of Calgary. I haven't found an overland family of 5 making it work in a Gladiator, and I'm thinking mine may not enjoy it so much so I've started to look at the Power Wagon for an HD build and this video sure shows what the options and benefits are of that extra space so thanks for putting in the effort. (And that the range of the diesel will be worth keeping an eye out since I'll be buying pre-owned)
    Now that you've got some time with it - would you say the additional space/comfort is worth the trade-off of capability/size with the perspective of camping/overlanding with the whole family?

When my daughter heads to college in two years, I may send the Gladiator with her and upgrade to a Ram. Leaning towards a Power Wagon, but I do see advantages to the 2500 Rebel also as I want a truck capable of supporting a canopy style camper and be able to tow my TJ on a trailer.

The wrap will minimize the rock chips, I hope that you get the gorilla windshield after you break it, because we all know you will get rock chips, and good that you have a full bumper for when you hit an animal, every time I drive from Abbotsford to peace river or ft Mac or any other location in Alberta someone on the crew would hit a deer, bear, moose and total their vehicle, if one totals their truck on a remote trip your possibility flying home..

    I remember the video where you were so excited about having a rig to haul the Jeep to various locations, long away from home. That being said, wouldn't that have served roughly the same purpose of long distance "efficiency" while maintaining a moderately or more capable off road rig? Not to mention, having something to haul your Jeep with in the event of mechanical failure, which has happened and will always happen in off road use, which is the nature of the lifestyle. So, what are the pros and cons of building the Ram and using it this way as opposed to hauling the Jeep for these longer distances? None the less, as a fan of full size trucks (I own a Cummins, myself) It is a sweet build.

    Love seeing others using Ram 2500 for overlanding. I have been building mine out but only have 37s with Carli suspension, 40s would be even better. Makes me feel not so crazy for off-roading in a 8000+ lb truck. Haven't done anything too crazy but there have been a couple times I was a little worried about making it up an obstacle but in 4 low with KM3s and the loads of torque, it just climbs whatever I have put in front of it with ease. I do worry that if I get do stuck if other vehicles nearly half the weight would be able to pull me out, that is the one downside.

  • @WarriorProphet

    That style of snorkel doesn't do much for water crossings. Instead, it's designed to provide clean air from above any dust clouds when running in groups, and it may also work marginally for snow, using the same idea. That's about the extent of its usefulness, though. For it to be reliable in anything more than a puddle, you would need the bell housing that can separate water from incoming air, a fully sealed downpipe, and a connection to the throttle body with a gasket. Think something like the water fording kit on a deuce and a half.

    Awesome Cummins build! How does it ride with the factory rear air bags on rough terrain?

    Maybe it comes in this video and I haven't gotten there yet but you have to have to have to do the exhaust egr weight loss upgrade 🤫 low rpms and idling for long periods of time will cost you a lot of money down the road throwing all that soot back into your engine
