I hope you guys enjoy part one of our trip to the arctic! This has been one of the most memorable trips of my life, and we're still out here on the road! Make sure to subscribe for part 2 next week and check out Trail Recon for Brad's videos from this trip as well.
its good to see your new ram shaun. i have a ram myself. not a 25oo. i wish. also good to see you with trailrecon! atleast you have a navy dr with you lol
@@CarswithNash hey bud, obviously he bought it and had it built by someone. I meant it’s not a pavement princess like most people with rigs like this. But thanks for the comment, makes you look super macho and cool and knowledgeable 👍🏼😂
@CarswithNash well there not in a pile on the ground and it's no longer stock so some put all the pieces together. I haven't met many people that made there own ride. The built a lift kit then got some rubber and made tires
We drove the Cassiar Highway in June 1979 just after it fully opened to the public. The lakes were full of trout. I don't recall services until we got to the north end which was open to the public for years. It didn't rain so the dirt road was dry fortunately. We didn't hit slick mud and rain until Dawson City and Top of the World Highway. 1978 International Scout. After that 16 years of exploring Alaska by river raft, cabin cruiser, canoe, and off-roading as far north as the Brooks Range almost to the Arctic Ocean. Shaun and Brad have a LOT more to explore 🙂
Thankyou, this brings back memories as your taking me thru my childhood stomping grounds, lived in the Hazeltons until I was 17, grew up fishing the skeena, meziadin, been “hyderized” and to the bear glacier. Much appreciation for the rush of memories of that beautiful area and it will always be my home. Thankyou, enjoy that spectacular area👍🏻
Absolutely awesome video Shaun. This might turn out to be my favorite series that you’ve done! You and Brad are my two favorite off road RUclipsrs so it’s super cool that you two are traveling together. Can’t wait for the next video!
Here in idaho there are so many fire lookouts still livable, and in great condition. Forest service will allow you to stay in them for days for a small amount of money.
I love what you do! The Canadian wildness never gets old for me. Your videos are so professionally done you really got it down. I hope more people subscribe to your channel and don't forget to like the videos people. Showing more of your family is always a plus so over the years we can watch your daughter grow! Hats off to you brother!
I love the new Ram! We have been running our Ram 2500 overland rig since 2020 and it still competes with the Jeeps and Toyotas! Great video! Keep it up! #PMOverland #staywild
I got to go to the edge of the Arctic Circle as a 14 year old. Parents took my brother and I on a train that went to it in Canada. I’d LOVE to get my Gladiator up there again! So cool you met up with Brad from TrailRecon.
That trailer at $60k better be the "most elite crazy overland trailer" 😳 .... a height adjustable feature on its suspension would have helped Brad through that mini log jam.
Awesome video as always Shaun. Y’all trip to the Arctic Ocean is going to be an epic adventure can’t wait to watch the rest of it on both yours and Brad’s channels. Thanks for letting us ride along with y’all on y’all’s adventures.
As a southerner I’m always amazed at the amount of bugs and mosquitoes I see in videos taken up north. We always associate them with tropical areas or hot and humid temperatures. The scenery is stunningly beautiful regardless of the bugs
I think your front axle assembly twisted at the axle housing changing the angle of the driveshaft causing it to fail. That’s exactly what happened to my 2500 prospector. Good luck
@@chuckcribbs3398 the axle housing assembly belongs to ram. At least in my case that’s what happened and they didn’t warranty it claiming it was “user error”.
No one will be surprised a RAM part failed under normal intended use for a truck like this. What’s really disappointing is if AEV won’t step up in situations like this. They are the ones that decided to mod and sell this platform.
i struggle to remember a single time going across the 8 where i wasn't stopped by bighorns that did not care they were on the road. absolutely perfect drive even after the disasters
Shaun, I was expecting the first 10 minutes of the episode of you maybe on the ALCAN or wherever, but YOU go to an epic lookout point! Filmmaking is a gift and you have it! Thanks for keeping it a short episode! Looking forward to the remaining!
Hi! I'm from Russia! You have a very beautiful country, and you show it very cool, the shooting is very very cool and professional! And of course your RAM... the bomb! A gorgeous expedition truck!
Awesome Shaun! My family in the Yukon are outfitters, I should have connected you with them for a coffee on your way through, they have good coffee and great stories!
Fantastic job Shaun, videography, soundtrack, narration...sure enjoyed watching. Interesting what you said about the bridges in Canada...not too long ago I met a civil engineer in Idaho who does bridge inspections for the US forestry service and he said they rarely follow his recommendations for bridge repairs...lol and yikes!
In the UK over here, that RAM is a beast. What a truck and what views on your trip. When I'm working at my desk - doing the monday to friday thing, I'm constantly thinking about views like that and being out in the mountains (the small ones we have over here). Enjoy your trip man! Going to watch the next one now.
SOOOOOOOOO Stoked for this one shaun !!! I Watched Brads sitereps on His channel And i KNEW this would be BEYOND Amazing !!! You Two are Such A GREAT team !!!!
Good start to what I'm sure will be a great series. Bummer about the four wheel drive going down out of the gate. Good poker face on getting the news though. :)
I have a prospector XL 2022 it came with a beefier driveshaft so just contact AEV and ask for that specific part number. It doesn’t look like there’s anything special done on it. Great trip by the way, I’d like to plan this in the next 2 months.
Great content - nice to see the travels up north. Sorry about the front axle issue - I had a PXL that I loved, but kept running into problems with the base vehicle so I sadly let it go. Hopefully the next gen deals with some of these problems (judging by Mopar's hints, it will).
How is it badass? The front drive shaft broke on a $100k truck. And another commenter said it happened to his RAM 2500. On paper it is badass but then reality says RAM has poor QC.
You went north, and recorded another fantastic adventure, and I went east and didn't record my Krazy Mitch Adventure. I did stop in and meet the guys at Epic Adventure Outfitters. Really nice guys Christian and Paul. Even if I did show up in a GMC Envoy (haha)
That CV style joint on the front drive shaft has been a troublesome design on Chrysler 4wd/awd vehicles since the late 90s. Makes no sense why they still use it. A custom front drive shaft with extended length slip and double cardan at the t-case is the way to go, especially with the lift. I would also recommend a lockout style hub conversion for the long roads trips.
A fresh AEV prospector build and it needs a new front driveshaft cus of poor geometry. Come on AEV! These kits cost a small fortune already. It should come with a driveshaft capable of handling this. CV joint does allow the most angle without oscillation issues that U joints do. But it would still need an extension at a minimum. But for ease of trail repair and betting the new suspension geometry. A double cardon on the t case side should suffice. The pinion angle if its anywhere near stock should still be able to run single cardon axle side with no issue.
@@TheStoryTillNow Could be something as simple as a faulty driveshaft, and you didn't know till you finally stressed it when you made it a daily no longer.
If you leave the fro t drive shaft out, you should be able to use 4lo just to make it easier on the truck. I'm sure yall are aware or already finished with the trip. But I'd like to see more on what happened with the drive shaft.
I hope you share hour long videos! More camping shots! Food making! Some equipment? When you are done with this journey can you elaborate on your full truck overlanding experience compared to the Glady?
Loving the new vehicle Shaun , being from the uk I’ve been eyeing up a Ford ranger wildtrack for exactly the same uses as you and looking forward to seeing how you get on with it

Hey Shaun love the new rig what wheels are running on it
Shaun is one of the few guys who actually builds a rig and uses it! Love this series!
I believe he bought it, not built it. Rather big difference.
@@CarswithNash hey bud, obviously he bought it and had it built by someone. I meant it’s not a pavement princess like most people with rigs like this. But thanks for the comment, makes you look super macho and cool and knowledgeable 👍🏼😂
@Coal354 It's a brand new truck with a bunch of off the shelf parts... not a build, nobody "built" anything, stop misusing the word.
Look out it’s the word police. 👮 sorry officer.

The TSTN version of "does a Bear shit in the woods?"
"Does a Shaun cross a sketchy bridge?"

pretty sure he ticked both of those boxes.😂

Beautiful photography, very cinematic and well put together. Perfect experience to the arctic you will have to run with me in Southeast Alaska!😊
