    If Toyota keep building stuff like this them I'm all for it. The GT86 is one of only a handful of new cars that I actually 'want'. It seems like this Yaris GRMN is built with the same ethos, looks like fun!

    I love my GRMN. Autobild mag tested this , 0-30mph 2.3, 0-60mph 5.9, 0-100mph 14.1.
    It does get off the line very quick but in gear it won't keep up with a similar powered turbo. You have to drop a gear. A 1.5 cooper Mini gave similar acceleration in gear on the motorway. Amazing unburstable engine, so much character over the other GTIs in this class.

    Awesome car and review. We are long overdue a resurgence in Toyotas that are exciting. I still drive the 190bhp 2zz corolla tsport and would be glad to see Toyota making an Auris version of this for a laugh. The gt86 is the only mainstream toyota I would buy for fun with the current lineup.

    Great review. I didn't really enjoy STG or TGE's videos on this car, they had very little content about what the car was actually like. I found this in-depth review far more interesting, even if it's a car I'm not really drawn to.

    Why's this video only had 10k views? Weird. Good video, fab car. Reckon with the GR taking all the attention now, the GRMN will fall into obscurity before becoming a future classic.

    Toyota really has hit the nail on the head with the Yaris GRMN. The motoring world needs more fun cars at relatively affordable prices. I know £26k is a lot to drop on a baby hot hatch, but it’s still a hell of a lot of car for the money. It’s just a real shame they’re only doing a very limited production run of them.
    But if it’s a sign of things to come, maybe even a GT86 GRMN (I’d love to see that), then I’m all for it.
    On a footnote, your best review by far, really great detail in the video, it’s good to see :)

    The option leather racing seats in the Yaris are some of the best-looking seats I've seen all year. I noticed when looking for a dive if the Rav4 hybrid last year.
    The seats looked more expensive than the car. I'd rather have them than the ones in the video. Which is strange for me as id never usually pick full leather, i don't like them, sticky when hot, freezing when cold.

    Oooo imagine if they make an OEM grade supercharger kit for the 86. A nice compromise for the "NEEDS TURBO" and "NA IS BEST" crowds. Would love to see what they do with that.

    Great video. I am japanese so I am allowed to say this - Toyota has been crap at marketing their cars. Why did they create the GRMN brand name when they have the TRD brand - their performance arm. It stands for Toyota Racing Development and doesn't sound so cringy to what the GRMN stands for. Or even TMG (Toyota Motorsport GmbH) responsible for their Le Mans cars. Same goes for the GT86 - its a brilliant car that deserves more respect from horsepower wankers, but why was it called the Scion FR-S in the US and why is it called GT86 in european markets and the 86 everywhere else? So stupid.

    • @smilepermile888
      @smilepermile888 6 лет назад +1

      I don't mean to insult you but let me correct you as a japanese speaker, Gazoo does not mean garage at all. Its just some random word that Toyota made up, like they ofte do when releasing cars exclusively for the japanese domestic market, with weird english names. Some non japanese PR person from Toyota must have told you that rubbish. We call a garage in japanese, ガレージ pronounced as 'gare-ji'

      Gazoo sounds much better than GRMN or TRD. Over here in the UK, TRD was always mocked as 'TURD' . Look it up if you don't know what this means. Oh and check out why Toyota had to rename the MR2 in France.

    It nice to hear someone who 'gets it' with these cars. I'm nearly all romantic when I talk about my GT86. The girlfriend is envious of the attention I give that car, don't know anything I want to change it for yet. Keep on doing what your doing, great channel and I have reckon you could easily make it to the bigger leagues in motoring reviews.

      JayEmm on Cars would make a great end of run for the current GT86 as long as it was more than a styling exercise. I'm going to trust Toyota's judgement though as I think they are definitely heading it the right direction. Next up the elusive Supra replacement fingers crossed...

  • @PatrickEVRAable
    @PatrickEVRAable 6 лет назад +1

    What on earth of Toyota thinking? Surely spend the money developing a hotter version of GT86 rather than this? The 86 is in DYER need of a supercharger. I agree not a turbo. They would sell so many more if they just gave it like 50 more lb/ft and 50bhp, just but the fucking Yaris GRMN engine in it! You've don't the work already. MADNESS

    • @another3997
      @another3997 6 лет назад

      PatrickEVRAable Sounds like you're in DIRE need of spelling lessons. 😉 I can't understand why everyone says the GT86 needs more power. 200hp is more than adequate for everyday road use. Add power, then you need to beef up the brakes and chassis... and sometimes it spoils the recipe.

    Well, Cletus, my old pal, this is a very good video, and greatly superior to what you usually get with this type of thing. My only caveat is the sunglasses. When you're talking to the camera, it's important that the viewer can see your eyes. Yes, I know your eyes might look like piss-holes in the snow, but your eyes are the widow to your soul, and mirrored shades are simply naff. Also, when not using them, take them off. Pushing them up on your head looks so effete.

    GRMN is an awful looking acronym, looks like Gremlin, they used it on a limited production run GT86 as well in Japan, with ridiculous sticker price, with like 10 extra hp. He's like 'this is like my Elise, just with the engine in the wrong place, driving the wrong set of wheels, with inferior chassis, gearbox and suspension, and it weighs 440lbs more, what nice things shall I say about it so I don't insult my friend who gave me this opportunity'
