Some more information about the Yaris GRMN from Toyota;
Turning a high-performance rally-racer into a thoroughbred road-car takes a group of people with unwavering passion. Told from a unique perspective, we follow the journey of the first Yaris GRMN through our factory, from forging its race-bred body right through to the test track where it earns its colours.
Four kilometres from the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife is a small garage. Here specialist Toyota engineers and drivers from around the world are hard at work fine-tuning the performance and handling of the Yaris GRMN to ensure it’s a winner!
Inside our Nürburgring garage, teams of engineers painstakingly labour over every detail of the Yaris GRMN. Incorporating the same facelifted body shell as its Yaris WRC brother, they test and retest parts to ensure the Yaris GRMN performs even better than before!
The Yaris GRMN’s powerful 1.8-litre supercharged engine helps it reach speeds of 230kph, but that’s nothing without the precise control of suspension, brakes and steering. To achieve their performance targets, Yaris GRMN’s engineers live by the mantra: test, learn, improve!

Best editing, quality and shooting angles in the game . Well done
This slomo drift ruclips.net/video/FwiVXA0HTaA/видео.htmlm42s amazing
Stg has great quality videos! But I prefer JWW thb, his videos have such a unique vibe..
Agreed. Also check: Cars with Luke. He might actually be the top at the moment
I really like the music too.
Also in terms of brand image, its funny because i was in a club and a mutual friend was like oh yeah i drive a BMW, and he asked me what I drive and I said I drive a Toyota and he just sort of laughed at.. Then i Said i drive a Twin Turbo Supra. Lmao and he drives a bmw 1 series. I think Toyota have famous car models. Like the supra is a brand in itself
UgenixK funny how the Supra started as a spec level of the Celica, then went on to become a more famous car than the celica
JustThat Lad yes i agree. Its got an interesting history behind it and you can see the influence the 2000gt had on it too.
UgenixK Exactly the supra is like Toyota's mustang, it transcends the Toyota name and becomes more than just a car, it embodies Japanese car culture just as the Mustang embodies America lol.
Celica, mr2 turbo and super charged, Carolla fxgt, levin super charged. they had a lot in the 90s
Problem is since the early 00s all the way up until they launched the GT86 in 2012, Toyota only made boring stuff. The older generations remember Toyota for their great performance cars, but the kids now only remember the Prius. Toyota has never made a bad sports car, in fact it has made some of the best of all time. They need to fix their image and hopefully the cars they are making now will.
I have zero problems with the Toyota badge. That would be like me saying don’t buy an Abarth because it’s a Fiat. I don’t think enthusiasts care.
SoCalSupercars Exactly the best cars are Toyota and ford products, who cares about the badge.
SoCalSupercars I usually point and laugh at the Yaris drivers, it's not a Fiat so quit acting like it is, then I blow their doors off.
@@2lazeblue whoosh
Toyota have it in their dna. From the 2000gt, to the Mr2, Celica supra, to the Supra. Gt4, MR2 GTS, im looking forward to the new Supra.
Me too! Looking for the Supra as well. I've owned 5 Celicas, most fun one was the ST185. I loved those cars. Gear changes are like a knife through soft butter.
RumbleBelly awesome!! I currently own the 2ZZGE Celica and i love it. Will probably get a GT4 soon. But my most prized possession is my supra. I treat it like my baby. If Toyota can pull this out of the bag then the 2019 supra should be promising
Toyota can pull this out mate. Unfortunatly my wallet can't pull out a brand new one :) I loved the older Celicas more than the latest model. Really get a decent GT4. They're reliable as feck. Love the shapes of it. Even though it has 'only' 204 HP stock.
Shame it's a limited edition already sold out model.
Sorry Sam, I like your stuff but you're mistaken about the Toyota badge.
Just think LFA, Toyota Supra and the numerous rally championships they won in the 90's with the Celica/Carlos Sainz, famous Spanish rally driver. You may also wish to check out their 2017 Toyota Yaris WRC car with the Rally Legend Tommy Makinen as team boss.
Not to mention the Sprinter Trueno/Corolla Levin AE86 too
dont forget the toyota 2000gt
Also, the Soarer, MR-2, Starlet Glanza
Amen
And Toyota's effort in Le Mans recently and group C stuff.
more hp than GT-86. Weird brand
Dbn Poldermans thats the point of the 86 low power, good handling been like that since the ae86's
Sean Chandrasekeran we all know it wouldn't hurt to add power to that car though
It is the hot car under new President. GT-86 was started earlier. Then, with the brand new slogan "fun to drive... Again" came underpowered C-HR, but with good handling and better design. Then came Yaris GRMN. I hope that one day Auris will get similar treatment, C-HR gets proper engine and new Supra will get best of GT86 and this Yaris.
Power isn't GT86's biggest problem. The lack of torque is the main problem. 200hp 1.6 Turbo would be much faster and less frustrating in day to day driving.
Gt86 is just supposed to be fun, hence the skinny wheels. You can have as much fun with a lightweight low powered on tight twisty roads as you can with 400hp+ car
I want one
I never would have heard of this car! Thanks again Sam for a great and unique review!!
Music on point as always.
Keep up the good content Sam , day one subscriber !!
Your edits are getting better and better. Great video!
been watching you for ages and I can't believe hw little subs you have, you deserve to have millions!!
I work with miramar hotel, but this weekend i was off. Shame not to say hello to you :(. Next time!
Great review! Two thumbs up!
Nice (and strange) to see you driving in "my home" roads! Good video!
Great to hear you talk about the fact that it's limited. If we got this as a normal production car here in the US I would snag one SO fast.
I think its awesome! Seems to be a whole lot of fun, which is what it‘s all about!
I love those little hot hatches, great video as always Sam
Editing is fab,spot on.
Awesome little Hot Hatch! I’d buy it in a heartbeat and not think twice.
I gave it a thumbs up
Was wondering if a yaris hot hatch would come with their involvement in the WRC with one
I thought TRD was the in house racing dev name for Toyota...
TRD is, but they are releasing a new sport division of cars call Gazoo racing or GR which is what the new toyota supra, future 86 and this yaris is going to be named. They specialize in track cars for toyota and are now also helping toyota develop cars. TRD is just toyota, but now they have help from a race engineering team.
Yes me too. It's weird why it's not TRD when they do TRD trucks and pickups in 2017 and 2018 but not the sportcars or this one. there is a GT86 TRD but yea who knows.
The GT86 TRD was a massive flop, looks nice but not much difference at all to a standart gt86. Toyota should have just told them to go nuts but instead seemed to limit what they could do.
TRD & TMG is part of Gazoo Racing family
In Europe and Japan, Gazoo Racing actually runs their big name racing teams in the WEC and WRC. TRD is more of a strictly us thing
Good video Sam, I've been looking forward to this. £26,000 though? That is most certainly bold...
Great review! I so much prefer these tuner cars to the untouchable exotics you tool around in. Great production quality by the way.
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!😍
Thoughts on the Yaris t sport (the old one) thinking about getting one as my first car
In Malaysia, we have a Gazoo Racing for Toyota Vios aka the sedan version of the Yaris. Currently leading is Shawn Lee.
Supercharged just like the MK1 MR-2 (that version was never available in the UK though :(
Sick video mate, keep the good work up!
Great video. Currently in a Golf R estate and really liked he sound of these but couldn’t spend that amount on one. Would love your thoughts on the new VW UP GTI.
I had a look at the normal Yaris and Aygo when considering my first car and the interior quality was so cheap plastic. But this looks really good
7:27 "when I'm not dying..." Hahahah
Wish we got this in the United States. Enjoy it y'all.
“Be cause of the badge”. Is that how Toyota’s are seen as now? I will admit, Toyota’s of new aren’t very special. However don’t forget Toyota used to have a hot hatch in the form of the glanza. 1.3 turbocharged, 133 bhp standard in a car that weighed like 900kg. Nice to see this side of Toyota returning
i've never been so excited for a yaris
Toyota should have had this idea with a limited edition supercharged Yaris four/five years ago , then 2 years later brought out the proper production Toyota Yaris 1.8 Supercharged at say 18-19k as a modern day Starlet .
This is finally going in the right direction again as far as hot-hatches go. The current versions of the RS3 or A45 are literally too fast to enjoy. This is what a hot hatch is supposed to be!
What camera do you use? Been wondering for such a long time
How is the GRMN compared to the S1? And btw... does GRMN has anything to do with Garmin? :D
yes my dude. so much yes.
I want one so bad!!
In this demo test run did you...use super, deep purple oil, other things to make it breath better?
Was pretty sceptical going into this video but actually looked like a fun little hot hatch I do feel it would carry that "you bought a yaris" stigma
Hello! How was the ride quality?
It's a nice and cool Toyota
Good points sam 👍
haha that car is sick. I really hope Toyota start making great cars again. really good video again Sam
Reliable
Fast enough
Good looking
Dream on a budget
King Of the monsters UP gti...
Lenin the up is not reliable and it's ugly
Except it's priced about 6k more than rivals (Fiesta ST, Clio RS etc.) So it's not great value really
TheEraser92 I'm not poor
King of the Monsters If you spend 26K on junk like this... you will be soon.
Does anyone know what GRMN means? I know GR is for Gazoo Racing, but MN?
Will Grigg's on fire it means masters of the nurbugring
Where is this road? How is it call?
Loved this car the first time I saw it got to love a supercharger
Looking forward to the new Fiesta ST this year Sam?
Which one would you prefer Sam/guys? 695 or Yaris GRMN?
This with new discs is a great car. Weird that only the pads are upgraded.
I wish it wasn't limited, and I wish they would have brought this to the North American market. We already see these in base trim EVERYWHERE! They are massively popular with young kids as a first car, and even in the modified scene. I've seen them with simple swaps like a 1.8 Corolla swap. I've seen them with the XRS Corolla/Matrix Swap which is between 170-190 hp depending on the Ecu and comes with a close ratio 6 speed manual, and can easily rev to 9000 rpm as long as you don't go over that, or your oil pump will explode. But they're quite light, and until now, the Corolla wasn't available in Hatchback in the US Market, so if you wanted a Toyota hatch back to modify and swap, you got a Yaris. So I've seen tons, and know a mate who modified a Yaris and that damn thing was a blast to drive with just 275 hp. It felt properly fast with less than 300 hp and it just had a similar swap to what the GRMN comes with. It had a 2ZZ-GE with a Lotus Supercharger and it was an absolute wicked car, and sounded the part as well.
Will you make a video with your friends new Performante soon?
thought you would be on the Snow Tour with team galag ?
Is it AWD?
What is the style of music on your videos ?
I have a 2009 Yaris with 106 hp.....my car would tip over if I drove it that aggressively as I have a soft suspension and no stability control...Now this car is like a mini s ...holy moly
26k for a Yaris!! Are they taking the piss!!
I would buy it in a heartbeat if they weren't all soold out
@Bradley0beaver i don't think so. For that price you can boost up a Seat Ibiza Cupra 6p or any other hot hatch in that size pretty much. It is fast(maybe the fastest in its class), but i don't think it will rule on the track that much still.
Looks awesome, based on the Tommi Makkinen Yaris rally car.
Sadly the price is double (compare to a regular) in my country :(
Sounds like a 1.6 Elise with a Stage 2 Sports Exhaust when you revved it.
Looks like a heap of fun. Sadly we’ll never see it in Aus🇦🇺. Come on @toyotaaustralia not even a small allocation??
1:06 LMAO XD
Toyota has made lots of great cars, but it's been a while since they did. Good to see they're back, but i do agree.. NO sane reason to limit the production. Seems like a fun car, and eventhough i don't care much for the current Toyota design and the Yaris look, i think i'd have one over most if not all of the competitors given the chance. While i prefer a N/A engine, a supercharger is a great alternative to N/A.
Good video, but i can't help thinking you should've joined the snow tour from the start instead though.
cool car given the previous one
could be: the road between Vallvidrera and Molins de Rei?
You could have done a meet up in Barcelona!
Poor North America never gets the hot hatches. We still don't have the 695 Abarth.
very very nice car from toyota much better than the competitors
Never thought i would see a TOYOTA on this channel
I hope you will be at the forefront of the Gazoo Racing Supra launch in Geneva....that is the car that will make or brake Toyota's high performance division.
the fucking bumps bruhhh
Only 80 units in the uk, this must be a great investment being a future classic.
Gazoo Racing is suppose to be releasing the new “Supra” at Geneva in March 🤞
Shame that it will not be sold in North America. I want this car.
why does it have belgian plates?
Best small toyota since the glanza/gt starlet? ....
wish it wasn't ltd edition and had more power, it would be crazy then!
Well actually a lot of people are supercharging tiny engines. VW for example. All their tiny gasoline engines are both supercharged AND turbocharged to eliminate lag in the best possible way.
Prius grmn incomming
I want that Toyota Yaris GRMN as second car, but that's expensive haha.
I love the abarth
I really like the look of this Yaris. Unlike the new horrid face of our South East Asia market one's.
In a way it is like the Toyota Corolla t sport from 2005. That has around 200bhp. And just like that has a supercharger and turbocharger. So in a way it’s like that, especially because that was limited production of 200 car worldwide
Nice see from Toyota but why limited run
Why are they on Belgian plates?
Amazing video but you’re totally wrong about Toyota as a badge! They have absolutely amazing motorsport pedigree and back catalogue of cars.
i think it would a funny idea if sam was to review a single turbo supra w/800hp+
Maybe there aren't enough buyers for a car like this which is why its not a mass market car. I mean that's usually how it is with most sporty vehicles.
Also Toyota knows about making little hot hatches, supercars, gt cars etc. They might boring safe cars for the elderly now but back in day they made some of the most iconic jdm cars cough cough the supra!
That's the old engine out of my 2005 corolla sportivo. 14 year old engine with supercharger bolted on.
Finally the car that i have 🤣
*pocket rocket* I’ll take one.
Maybe not at *£26,000* 😢
The name of this car is the sound of Sam’s cayman starting up *-*
Now a Yaris has more power than every GT86 :D
