I sold a 993 & an 07 GT3 during Covid - Put a down payment on a GR Corolla Circuit & proceeded to wait 26 months for it!!! 3k kms later - I couldn't be happier with the GR & definitely made the right choice...

I'm 6ft3 and not the most slender of build. I was astounded at the sheer amount of room in the 1st gen Yaris when I first drove one. With the seat all the way back I was too far away from the pedals to safely drive, yet in the likes of a Vauxhall Astra... Seat doesn't move back far enough. I've loved these GR's since I first saw one and this video has got me tallying up the toys in my garage that I could part with to actually own one 🤔. Thanks for another great video!
I have one and done a 220 mile trip with my wife and two adult daughters in it. Did help my wife is only just short of 5ft and one daughter also. They were totally comfy all the way and did approx 42mpg. Gonna keep it for the 10 yrs if I can especially with the warranty

Just so everyone knows who may be interested, a friend of mine fit the 1200mm 4 seater Multimac in the back of his GR, didnt have to remove any seats or anything to install it. Pretty sweet little family car ngl
That Yaris is just too good. It'll be a benchmark reference for the owner for reliability and practicality from now on. Also 14:01 must have been a blast to pull of.

I think it was Evolve Automotive that were working on after market seat runners to drastically lower the driving position as this was one of the biggest criticisms at launch.

Fantastic videos - I’m looking for a new dad car to replace a Mk5 GTI and sit alongside the family wagon and it’s like you’ve seen my Autotrader searches…! A 997 is top of the list, which also includes Mustang and GR Yaris (would love a Granturismo or DB9, but terrified of running costs). I’d love to see a video on a 996 (preferably C4S) to compare with the 997, along with an F82 M4, if you can wangle them please 😊 Keep up the excellent work - you deserve far more subscribers🤟
State side here, Currently owning an R8 and a bronco raptor……I also recently picked up a gr Corolla (obviously Yaris not available here). I should also mention I’ve had varying types of vehicles including m3/m4s….dating back to an e46. And I have to say, this gr reminds of that e46 more than anything else. Not the fastest but the driving dynamics made me fall in love w driving again. A part of that being, it feels like a car from a simpler time, durable, reliable and easy to maintain/service. If you having pulled the trigger yet, go w the yaris. You’ll have just as much fun, if not more than than all of the cars you mentioned.

I did pull the trigger… on a 996 C4S and it’s wonderful (other than the drive belt snapping in the middle of remote North Wales 2 miles away from the roads I went there specifically to drive!). My friend had a GR Yaris and was underwhelmed, but he’s a) very hard to please and b) fortunate enough to be able to dip into and out of cars if they’re not quite what he’s looking for! He’s since found exactly what he was looking for… a 992 C2S!

Thanks for a very enjoyable review! The environmental footprint of the GR-Yaris is way less than a 2+ton Electric car. One reason is weight with everyday footprint on the road, secondly, infrastructural new electric charging stations to be build, but most importantly, reparing an EV is almost impossible! It will become scrap, subconsequently replacing it with a new car. Would be interesting to compare the two in an EPD. (Environmental Product Declaration)

A fun and good review mate. Just found your channel and I like your vibe. And I'm not even a dad, to my knowledge at least 😉 I chose the standard GR Yaris, but with the Convenience pack. It's my one car does all. The suspension is better for the road, especially harsh surfaces, and the added Convenience pack extras lift the bland Japanese cabin, just enough, along with making it a more pleasurable daily. The circuit pack is only beneficial for 9 and 10 tenths driving, arguably irrelevant unless tracking and/or driving it with all driving aids disabled. Everyone prefers bareback, but it's, arguably, not particularly safe unless you truly know your subject!😃 I've driven the circuit pack 5 times, 3 b4 choosing my spec and back to back, and the standard set up, but with better rubber, is all that's needed. Currently running asymmetric 6's. If you get the chance, try a standard GR Yaris, with or without the Convenience pack to compare. Unfortunately it might still have the standard dunlops 🤮 As far as aural pleasure is concerned. The 5 cylinders + is where the drama and pleasure is at. Your Maserati Granturismo video reminded me of the start up sound when my late father bought one in Swindon. THUNDER ❤❤ Long live the I.C.E 😊

@@dadcars Just a word of note. I noticed your adoration for that Maser 😉 My dad initially had a 4.2 Quattroporte from new and it had significant electrical problems with the gearbox, from new!!! It had to be recovered. I think that was around a 2009 plate!? The Granturismo 2011 wasn't used for long enough to gauge reliability. I personally would probably go for an R8 awd for the German better reliability, amongst others, especially re electrics! But the Alfa romeo giulia quadrifoglio almost got my attention recently. If it was Q4 I'd have test driven it for sure 😒 Heavy and auto 🥱🥱🥱 vs the GR4, but that engine is a peach. I'm half Italian and love "proper" Italian food, wine, architecture, weather, women and cars, lol.... As a teenager, I wanted a fiat strada abarth 130tc 😍 I'd still love to drive one now. I love hot hatches. A friend had one. Twin webers 🥰 Unfortunately they're virtually all rusted away 😪 The integrale is gorgeous externally, but I wouldn't be trusting it on a long journey. That's another benefit of the GR Yaris. A modern Integrale with better reliability and technology, albeit far less sexy visually 😏
It’s a great car but I can’t recommend it for a family of any size. I don’t have kids but two older parents and 2 doors is a no go! Definitely worth having this as a second car if you can afford it, it’s so good to drive
It’s not a family wagon but a brilliant DadCar… to be fair elderly family members is a different criteria altogether, they would struggle getting in the front passenger seat of my DB9 🥲

Cant exactly say id swap a ferrari for a toyota Yaris GR ...although i was in my audi etron last night and lo and behold there was a yaris GR which did sound and look like a fun ride. Hate to brake this to yaris GR owners or fans the upcoming ev revolution will offer superior performance, handling, braking and passenger compartment. Zero to 60 mph in upcoming electric economy cars will often out accelerate the little ICE cute hot hatch... Same for many other iconic ICE icons. That said the Yaris GR is a cool hot hatch although other than insane running costs of the ferrari ff and repair costs I cant say Id sell a ferrari for a yaris GR unless the owner in the video just said enough to ridiculous costs and large size to use as a daily driver to park in the city.

Most so called developed countries such as the UK and here in NZ have woeful road maintenance. The effects of heavier vehicles will be a rapid deterioration in the road infrastructure.
I get the impression Ben is not a fan of the new Supra. Not sure where I get that idea from... The GR Yaris is a reminder of why the Hot Hatch as a type has been so successful; a halo model at the top of what is usually a hum-drum model range that excites as much as a sports car or super car and yet can still do the family-hauler jobs that the base car is designed for. Hot hatches are the OG Dad Car type...
How tall are you? 5ft 4? or there about? I am 5ft11 (178cm) @ 75kg and I cannot sit in the back seats of a GR Yaris. My head rubs on the ceiling, I have to position my head on an angle, I cannot lean my head back, or look around, My knees are deep in the front seats.. so uncomfortable!. video is cap...

Drive what you want, but even the least efficient EV getting power from the worst coal plant will eventually outpace the carbon production of even a Prius. Teslas tend to dip in to carbon negatives around 17K miles.

5 adults in mine just before Xmas, for a few miles. I have to move further forward, I’m 6’3, but we managed ok.

How tall are you? 5ft 4? or there about? I am 5ft11 (178cm) @ 75kg and I cannot sit in the back seats of a GR Yaris. My head rubs on the ceiling, I have to position my head on an angle, I cannot lean my head back, or look around, My knees are deep in the front seats.. so uncomfortable!. video is cap...

@@dadcars Kia Proceed GT, 204cv automatic. Toootally different car. But we bought this one because the plan was having two kids, but now we decided to just have one. So.. It's the perfect excuse.
Drive what you want, but even the least efficient EV getting power from the worst coal plant will eventually outpace the carbon production of even a Prius. Teslas tend to dip in to carbon negatives around 17K miles.
