    2021 Toyota GR Yaris review! The Toyota GR Yaris is one of the coolest cars on the market -- an amazing hot hatchback. But the GR Yaris isn't sold in the USA -- so today I'm borrowing one to review the GR Yaris and show you what we're missing. First I'll take you on a tour of the GR Yaris, then I'll drive it and show you what it's like behind the wheel.

    The problem: the GR Yaris is built on a one-of-a-kind platform. As such, Toyota is probably losing money on each car made. That's why Toyota will replace it with the GR Corolla, which is built on the current Corolla hatchback platform. As such, it makes it a lot easier to homologate the GR Corolla for the US market.

    • @obidean3964
      @obidean3964 2 года назад +80

      If GR Corolla, it's not homologation, it will be another hot hatch player since it's not made to obey with the WRC rule. It's not bad, hell no, it will be great really but don't expect it to be as special as this pocket rocket GR Yaris. My 2 cents ...

    • @joshsuelto
      @joshsuelto 2 года назад +17

      the reason is there is no market for small cars in US market but outside the US gr yaris sold like a pancake. toyota would need to change the gr yaris just to meet the safety standards. that is probably the reason why they will use the corolla platform in US

    • @nickwong2525
      @nickwong2525 2 года назад +23

      In order for them to participate in WRC, they needed to build 25,000 units of GR Yaris in a continuous 12 month period as part of the WRC homologation rules, hence why this car was made and limited production. Akio Toyoda wanted the company to still be represented in WRC, that's why he authorized this project and considered this as his passion project because this is not a joint venture like the 86 and Supra. So ya, in my opinion, i don't think the GR Corolla will be the direct successor because GR Corolla chassis is based on your everyday car and GR Yaris chassis is from rally standards to a road car.
