Everybody's reviewed this car. Yet Harry's verdict is the one you wait for.
and its the best one
Exactly what I was gonna say
I would have no idea anyone "reviewed" this hopped up shitbox car. This channel is about the videos, the driving style, the reactions to the emotional involvement, the historical experience and thus total package of the video.
100%.
Harry and Chris Harris. Harry to see if it's a good car for me. Chris just for insanity :)
Most reviews just regurgitate the press junket, Harry goes the extra mile that enthusiasts want. Longer wishbones, higher passenger seat, only Harry and possibly Steve Sutcliffe or Chris Harris would go into that level of detail. No fake laughter every time he puts his foot down or yelps of "whoop" if the car oversteers, harry remains a breath of fresh air and a true beacon of what constitutes a fun, 'real world' drivers car. Certainly the reviewer whose opinion is most likely to persuade me in my car purchases.
Amanda, not just Steve, Harry and Chris, who are all terrific. If you have time, please check this one out from down under (so you get the benefit of good weather and interesting roads too). It adds a little extra. Hope you agree.
ruclips.net/video/ER4DwLj62rU/видео.html
I haven’t watched it all yet and this is first of Harry’s videos I’ve seen. I like Chris Harris but some of the things he mentioned were completely pointless. Fact is, you can’t drift it around on roads or track like he does in his videos, so his main point was completely flawed. Just seen Rory Reid’s review who drives like a normal person, and he said there was barely a notable difference between the 3 driving modes. Again, I appreciate the technology etc, but a a good FWD or RWD car can be just as much fun to drive on road or track. Being 4WD with not 1 LSD but two, doesn’t automatically make it any better to drive than other hot hatches. I need to try one, but haven’t bought into the hype just yet.
@@NickG24 Watch our "Does it deserve all the hype?" review Nick, and you'll see normal but spirited driving on twisty public roads, and yes you can feel the difference between the modes. We're not drifting it, because that's just not the way people drive on public roads, but we can still drive it hard enough to assess the various modes. Spoiler alert : Many things good, some things not so good.
Awwww no matt watson
Henry catchpole, who also is from evo back in the day. Carfection is amazing, check them out. He also reviews like Harry but in a much shorter video. brutally honest too
After viewing your review, I finally got what this is about. It's not about performance, it's not about compromise, it's not about price deal. It's about being the last thing we'll see from a major car company and it was strictly motivated by the guy behind it. In any case, I wish there was Abarth/Lancia/Alfa doing something at the same level to have that Italian Racing Pedigree represented in some form. Great review, Harry!
You've got it! It's a bit of a Gordon Murray/F1 moment, or Horacio Pagani and Zonda but at a much more affordable level car. It takes one man's vision to make something like this to happen in the car world and it doesn't occur very often..
It's a Toyota, of course it's good
Biposto or the Guilia Quadrifoglio are the only respectives that come vaguely close I guess. Tis a shame they can’t match the reliability and purity of the Yaris.
@@dragospahontu not every Toyota is good, but their recent models have been.
@@matthewp9015 all Toyota's are good from the Yaris to the Camry they try to make them as good as possible in their class, always punching above their weight.
I'm more excited by this car and review than the Ferrari Roma 😏
Same here, cuz roma is stunning but with dumbass electronics that nobody wants and the money it costs is off putting.
Yaris gr is an "affordable" fun machine with a manual and proper awd system
Affordable hot-hatches and small sportscars are in short supply. Even if you can’t afford one new - the GR Yaris is something many can aspire to in a couple of years - in the second hand market.
@@jaglemans6778 How many are they making? IF, if, you'll ever find a used one for cheap it'll be good and clapped out.
@@kiisu74 Toyota 5 year 100k warranty which includes trackday use
@@kiisu74 I believe they are supposed to make 25.000 GR Yaris, but it is very popular worldwide and maybe they will make more.
Heard somewhere it works like ordering the Merc GT BlackSeries, limited series in time that it can be orderd, not in numbers.
Can we see a full review in the Litchfield
I imagine that Toyota could sell many times the UK allocation. And yes, as many have said, we were all waiting for Harry's verdict.
They need to just keep manufacturing for everyone that wants one. Until I can afford to order one at least.
@@Beatbox99 they will do :)
The only opinion I wanted on this car is Harry’s and Chris Harris’.
Not Matt Watson?!
@@geoffreyaugust0 not
Harry, Chris Harris & Steve Sutcliffe are the GOAT car reviewers.
@@Jinsun202 I'd add Catchpole to that group as well.
Agree but I’d add Henry Catchpole

@@MrAndyj007 how?
Harry was struggling to find negatives... this is truly a seminal car
Feel like this car has been over reviewed a bit lately, however I will ALWAYS give Mr Metcalfe the time of day. Great car and great review as always.
Whats wrong with the GR Yaris getting positive views? Doesn't automatically make it 'overrated'
@@smilepermile8165 didn’t say it was over rated, just over reviewed. Didn’t slate the car at all.
Test driven this car and feel its overrated but that's my opinion. I'd have more fun in a fiesta ST but I'm a fwd hot hatch guy. Cool that people still make this type of car though for people who love them 👍
@@patrickbateman7122 Test drive it again.
@@Freddanrocco he doesn't have to its not very good for average day life on typical british roads we all have our opinions ive argued the exact same thing and had a load of fan boys thats never drove it say your wrong, so i say u drive it and find out ? If you have and still want it best u start doing some rally stage times because thats the only place it shines on a typical dry track summer time this is slower than a 6 year old type R
I work for Toyota and drove our work demo on day 1... I’ve driven everything and this is straight into my top 3 of all time. A game changer.
Like the woeful Supra-bmw?
Can’t wait to see how a car concept from the 1990’s actually sells three decades after its sell-by date - beyond the handful of old fogey enthusiasts looking through their rose-tinted rear view rally mirror glasses.
Seriously dropping 30k on a tiny three cylinder super mini car how many of these will they actually sell? 200-500?
All I can imagine is that working for Toyota must be spirit crushingly boring if this is in your top three of all time...
All those cheap pressed steel suspension components look rusty underneath already btw...
Haven’t seen such ridiculous hype for decades
@@Rosso456MGT how many will they sell? Well they are sold out in Australia, and a 24 month wait to get one.
If the bloke loves it, why do you crap on his verdict? Why don’t you enlighten us with your pick?
@@Rosso456MGTthis aged horribly. They sold over 5000 in the UK alone

Best GR review to date by a country mile 👏👏👏
Thank god the 90's are back in automotive terms. Long may we continue this trend.
This is the way forward for enthusiast vehicles as emissions targets get ever tighter. Hopefully they sell well enough to keep development and production going.
@@Beer_Dad1975 We can hope, yes.
Does not mean much in America, but I'll take it.
Harry's smile and enthusiasm says it all.😀👍
Best review I've seen for this car, thanks Harry.
Harry's video just manages to be one the best. I've seen loads of reviews of this car but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Should get hold of mine in April and have been waiting for Harry’s review since I placed the order. Looks like I’m not going to be disappointed 👍👍👍
Love your work Harry. Keep up the great work.
As always the definitive review of any car by Harry - great little car and even better when you add the insights from Harry who always does his homework for us to enjoy - thx Harry!
I've not seen you so excited about a new car for ages, great to watch Harry, love it. I'm smiling watching it, just what we need.
Harry is super excited for the GR Yaris, he wears his Panerai Luminor when he’s this excited for a car.
If I could afford one I wouldn't hesitate, ideal everyday car for me (I live on the countryside in Sweden - small twisty roads that's sometimes icy).
Incredible how time passes when you watch any of Harry's videos...it felt like just 5 mins ago I started the video...and just like that, 25 mins gone. Great content and great presenter!

as always.
I love how when you review it, you laugh and giggle like we're 14 years old again. Love this hot hatch! wished this was coming to the States, I hear we're probably getting a GR Corolla Hatch. Cheers!
Harry's garage just keeps getting better! Great stuff!
Harry, please never stop making videos for us. You are the GOAT!
Glad you enjoyed it, I wish more cars were engineered like this at this price point. Cannot wait for mine to arrive this month!
It takes the CEO of the company to be a massive car nut to make it happen. There's no way this car would exist otherwise. Don't expect others to follow either, it'll be a bit of a one-off I'm sure..
That's Toyota and Lexus for you in a nutshell.
Remember the LFA? This is much of the same.
Excellent review as ever...I don’t mind the fact that I have a “nerdy” car on order...Litchfield will be filling up their order books for the suspension pack.
I am just about to re-watch this eagerly awaited review....cheers
I still think this car deserved an exe-tc rather than lowering nitrons
There are tons of reviews out there, but where else can you find such a divine mix of facts and passion? Just seeing you smile makes me smile because I understand the passion you feel. Just wish we had such an exciting selection of cars in Quebec, Canada, but the US makes the - boring - choices for us. Great job Harry!!
Hi Harry lovely little car. Love your Chanel. Looking forward to another update on the farm. Hope you and your family are all doing well take care.
finally we get Harrys verdict but i cant be more happy to see the clio trophy back in garage haha
Harry Metcalfe is so cool he wears a watch on either wrist.
Probably left handed. I do the same
Probably for "weight distribution"
Yes,but a Panerai on the left wrist and a smart watch on the right wrist.Tradition and technology working together...............................
I guess he’s got a lot of time on his hands

Loving your putting these out on a Sunday evening. Its filled the void left by Sunday evening TG nicely.
Wonderfully way to spend 25 mins in these times and fantastic review thumbs up Harry 👍
Another great video Harry. Really wish this car was coming to the US. Would make a great daily.
When having enough room for a garage, a new car is imported from Japan. It's kept at a garage.
If you play, it's carried to a race track.
You wait for a rise in price.
Been on springs to watch Harry review the GR, When you think he gets handed the full range of Porsche, Ferrari, JLR, Lamborghini’s the gr makes him giggle at less than the cost extras often added to most of the above, brilliant... both Harry and Toyota for making it,
Why I love Harry's real world reviews. I have watched many RUclips reviews of this car but not really trusted the info. Harry, a real enthusiast, gets enthusiastic. There you have it.
Enjoyed that, didn't watch anyone else's review, was worth the wait for this one.
Loving that Harry runs a watch on each hand. class on the left, practicality on the right
you and jay leno have the most legit car content!
Daddy Dougie tho
Jay has way better cars, if only Jay would actually get on one rather than just go cruising. Harry has way better driving environment.
@@masturdate doug has absolutely no technical knowledge on cars. I doubt he could change oil on any of his. He is a reviewer that makes many mistakes and nothing more

JayEmm on Cars is also good!!
Love your channel content as always Harry! You're one of the few motor journalists that actually does the research, checks the facts, have a look under the car, etc. On a side note, funny to see you wearing two watches, classic and modern 😀
Brilliant video Harry! Absolutely love this car, all homologation specials are definitely special!
Great review Harry, I think that it is the most exciting car of the last couple of years because it is affordable unlike the back to back supercars that keep rolling out.
I used to have a Prodrive Impreza and I loved what it could do. It was always predictable and amazingly quick along a B road and made me feel like a hero every time. Now I've got an M5 and it's just too powerful and too heavy to drive fast without being very aware of the potentially serious consequences of a mistake. I kept that Impreza for years and I felt a sense of excitement every time I got in it. I miss it and I'd love to try a modern equivalent.
Here you go! GR Yaris..
Same here (different cars) anything modern is too heavy and too powerful to be enjoyed on the road. I miss E39 M5s and co. Today what's left ? This, the alpine , the 718 maybe. Even the M2 is almost too much... otherwise it's lotus, but drive daily meh.
Best review on this fantastic car ever. As always with Harry, it's top class. Thank you sir.
Harry does it again! I am impressed by how much he likes this car. His reference to Litchfield has been a bonus. This GR Yaris is the LFA I could never afford.
This is totally ending up in Harry’s Garage permanently.
He just posted on IG he bought a Red one.
Not the a Litchfield one? I'm a little surprised, but he can get it tuned later with Nitron suspension first.
@@TheEwanMC i think it's a family hot hatch - so maybe just stay as it is - but he said they do it near him - so yeah could get it upgraded later...
I'd love one. Even if the engine looks like a combi boiler.
Ha! More than makes up for it with the low size, low weight, torque, reliability and mpg.
@@andrewnorris5415 I'm not saying I wouldn't have one in a flash. Just you wouldn't wow anyone by lifting the bonnet. You could distract them by demonstrating its weight though.
It's like an ugly bird with big tits. Who cares what it looks like, what's underneath is all that matters. Like all the best 1990's cars.
Aaand he went and bought one! Looking forward to the experience Harry!

I was torn between the Mini JCW and the Yaris GR 4 - bearing at the time there were no reviews of the GR 4 available. I took the gamble on the Yaris GR 4 in October of last year and will take delivery of my new car on March 1st. I do believe I have made the correct decision !
Hello... hope you received your car and enjoying it...
I haven’t wanted a hot hatch this bad since my R32 years ago. Seems like an absolute fire cracker. Fantastic and informative video as always Harry.
Great review Harry, I never thought we would see a rally inspired road car again! So nice to see and your in depth review is great. In golf we say Nothing feels like a Mizuno...In car reviews nothing is as good as a Harry's.

Thanks Harry yet another amazing review you really did look like you enjoyed driving that Yaris i am going to buy one you just tipped me over the edge 👍
Good review, and the first one to actually shut that damn ICU beep off! Three car garage so far: Defender, Yaris GR (or faster derivative), and a beater 2nd hand electric car....
Reminds me of when the Peugeot 206 GTi came out. Wheel on each corner and a ripping motor. That was fun too

You mean 205 GTi, or really the 206 GTi?
205GTI, I made a typo
@@seventydoo6033 I missed the 205 so I only knew the 206 GTi. Loved that car so much!

From Ferraris and Lambos to a Yaris. Just awesome range and such complete reviews. Thanks again, Harry.
Such a detailed review that actually meant something. The first reviewer I have heard chirp the tyres on first to second shift. I've always said 250-300hp is just the right amount to make progress and put a smile on your face.

Toyota has found the antidote to all the other nonsense that’s going on in the car industry right now. Things could be so simple...
What blows my mind is that people say 'It's a Toyota!?', like that's bad. It's not German - no badge tax and it'll be far more reliable, cheaper to own overall.
@@thewaywardgrape3838 Having owned a few BMWs and now with a GR Yaris on order, I'm looking forward to not having to deal with the pretentious german car dealership bullshit.
