*Important to note that Toyota always tries to improve their product by at least 2 ways:*
    1. Drive it, break it, improve it.

I bought one with the same mindset but after 2,5 years I just can’t keep it anymore for this purpose. It’s a car for speeds between 30-70 mph. Under 30 its suspension is harsh and engine under 3k rpm is laggy and gutless. Above 70 mph the road noise on everything but quiet asphalt is deafening (81db on our highway). So if you live in the Cotswolds like Harry where there is no traffic of highways it’s perfect. But otherwise it gets on your nerves real quickly. Greets from Belgium!

Thanks for this insight that really confirms what I've been thinking. If you have a Gen1, keep it & enjoy it, not worth going for the Gen 2. But, if you were not lucky to get a Gen 1, go for the Gen 2 !
Furthermore, I'll really have to think about that Litchfield Stage 1 tune. Looks like the sweet spot for B-road fun due to that extra torque.
Suspensionwise, what is the stiffness of your new springs ? "Track pack" OEM springs are 37N/mm. I've been thinking for the past three years I've had the car that the "issue" wasn't the spring rate, but rather how the damping has been calibrated. I've been looking around different AM suspension providers, but haven't found any maker keeping approximately the same spring rates (soft & stiff enough for B-road fun taking into consideration the inevitable degradation of our French roads) and really improving the damping behaviour (except for BOS - who have provided suspensions for the WRC Yaris - but they really have a problem with after sales service for us private clients...), so still waiting to come across a maker that is able to provide an upgraded damping at a reasonable price range.

Thanks for another top video. It would be great to see the Yaris pitched against a GR86, both very similar prices and availability here in the UK with different approaches to smiles per mile. The 86 seems to have been missed by your superb channel which is surprising considering it did so well against the big hitters in ECotY 2023, I’m sure many of your viewers would be interested to see a HG review!

I missed out on the uk ballot for a mk2, rather gutted. I love the way the dash curves into the driver. The infotainment stuff is in a better place. As a 6ft 3 human, that's most week days, i appreciate the seat drop. Watch these get flipped for 50k plus.

Great video. I am in the same boat, more than happy with my Gen 1 but had the option to order a Gen 2 (No ballot in the country I am residing in). Road noise from the PS4S I agree with, however when switching over to Nordic winter tyres as are compulsory in my part of the world, the road noise is so much better.

Also to note when you are using Apple carplay the map button puts the map back on the screen if you are using any other function within apple or menu on the the unit, so it's a really cool feature.

When you show the image of the rear damper is that really all the suspension travel that it has? Just a guess, but if that is the actual travel it makes sense why the upper mount was destroyed. It is likely bottoming out the bump stop with regularity.

i had the previous model some years ago it looked inside like a high-end luxury/sport car ,i used to race with powerfull sport cars and always left them behind , after maybe 7 monthes i couldn´t look at it ,so i sold it for 50.000€ and in two days , i waited 6 monthes for it to arrive and in second hand was the regular price asked, new cost me with all extras 43.000€(manual gearbox, automatic doesn´t even make sense), this new look Yaris, maybe a great car also ,toyota is a trusted brand i also bought two hilux trucks with doble cabin to my work as a agricultor and it surprised me for the best ,incredible how good they are . The previous model was very good also so when buying this new ones i thought they would be worst but no just perfect in the most dificult terrain, they already made 2.000kms in the worst roads or ways in the countryside and it drives good in all, maybe i´ll keep them for more 5 years ,they have already 2 years. The Yaris when i bought it ,it was like buying a toy ,i had no need for it but bought it anyway and old porshes and ferraris couldn´t catch up this inside the city circuit at late in the night or early in the morning when the cops are drinking whiskey in a BP gasoline station that sells a bit of everything so inside the city no cop of trafic at those hours, i remenber passing through my old highschool in the center of the city at 2 in the morning and looked down for a second and was driving it at 190 km/hour and behind me a carrera from 96 and a mondial that i don´t know the year , the circuit we made is filled with turns and some straight sections of road but no more than 500 meters or half a km, inside the city we live and were born , this friends i have met them when i was 4 years old in kindergarden

Kind of the same here in the UK re: bringing the car in at 6month intervals. Difference is there’s the annual service but 6months later it’s an inspection visit (torque wheels, fluid checks etc). If I get the annual service done at a Toyota main dealer (which I do) the 6month inspection is free.

In your first vid Harry said suspension was a necessity but standard power was sufficient...so guess he was out voted on the remap! Personally the standard is OK for road use as it can carry sooo much through the bends and that's it's natural environment.
The front grille plastic is putty, lots of owners suffering from pheasant ingress...the most expensive bird I've ever put in a bag! 😂

More "Harlie" (Harry-Charlie) reviews please: you work well together.
    1. Your hard dampers and shocks might be trashing your upper shock mounts. There must be upgrades available.
    2. Your non-issue with the dash screen height is probably because you're both tall.
    3. The road noise is also a result of you having the back seats down and the cover missing.
    4. Your mods make your older one superior, but out of the box, the new one would win.
    5. Those radiators in the outer flares on the new one are going to cost lots of people a lot of money with light weight bumper bashings.

I have a standard Yaris which is perfect for hacking around London, assuming the GR is the same, you have the facility to plug in your phone and use CarPlay, which gives you Google maps, your music and all your phone contacts. I find Google maps which is constantly updating itself far superior to on board mapping.
