Even though AngelHare is supposed to be analog horror, in a way, its not. I didnt find any moment of your series disturbing. Probably the most wholesome analog horror series to date. Angel Gabby gave hope and security to young Jonah when he needed it the most. As Gabby says, "Ill always be your guardian angel Jonah". The last episode of season 1ade me tear up, because you make it seem as if Jonah truely believes that Gabby completely forgot him, but she doesnt. She acknowledged a grown Jonah by glancing between him and Francis the Badger, then she stops mid sentence and approaches the screen, and puts her hand on it and Jonah does the same. Even season 2 is wholesome even though the main plot involves finding where Angel Gabby went and were introduced to a new "angel" who has absolutely nothing to do with Angelhare, but has his own show. Were lead to believe for the first few episodes that this new character doesnt care about Jonah, Francis, and Gabby, when in all reality it seems he is in love with her. The final sequence of the last episode did make me tear up, because now Jonah was acting as Gabbys guardian angel. Please know that your series has touched alot of peoples hearts, and means alot to them. I cant thank you enough.

Angel Hare is amazing,in a way that makes me unable to identify what it is. It has the trappings of analog horror, and it has such darkness in the story of Jonah's father... but it's not that. It's a comfort. It's not the darkness, it's the light shining there. What do we even call that? Analog anti-horror?
Whatever it is, we need a lot more. Of Angel Hare itself, sure, but I mean this whole subgenre you've found. For many of us, the darkness of regular horror is... just every day. The rare thing is a moment of hope.

Yesh, all those Angel Hare "analysis" videos where they play scary music and talk like they're researching a cold case file are so corny. Yeah, AH has a bit of dark subject matter but there's no dread or grim aura about it. In fact, I think the whole thing, from the concept to the actual production, is relaxing. It's an insanely refreshing take on the haunted-media-is-aware-of-the-viewer story by having it be a wholly benevolent force and its inevitable copycats should take note.

I mean... Gabby kills the dad and lets Jonah get blamed for the death. That is dark but I think you are right in saying it is a dark subject but a hopeful story. Gabby did something that should be horrible but it is justified.
She is happy with how Jonah has grown despite being branded as a killer that did not harm him, and that the videos the mom had to deal with an angry child were not necessary because Jonah did nothing. The moment when they touch through the screen is when Gabby, Jonah, and we all realize it was for the best in a choice of only bad options.

I'm so glad to finally see someone make a video saying this series was wholesome! Like, yes Gabby helped Jonah kill his abusive father, but I feel like a guardian angel _would_ make that suggestion to help him with his situation. If you can't remove your charge from the threatening situation, _remove the threat._
She gave him the choice and agreed to help him regardless of what he chose.

I appreciate discussing the wholesome side of the story, even if I feel that the wholesome side of the story is incomplete without the dark implications of the sin Angel Gabby helped Jonah commit. Because if we assume that this was not Gabby’s first choice and that she was pushed to that point because of Jonah’s father being too dangerous, it really strengthens the narrative impact of the ending. Jonah was in a terrible, traumatic situation, his life was in danger as was the life of his mother. Eventually, Jonah’s father would inevitably kill one or both of them. So the fact that Jonah killed his father isn’t some dark, vile twist. It’s an all too common reality. I see it as a metaphor for when a child of an abusive parent manages to kill their abuser in self-defense when their or another family member’s life is in danger. The reason Jonah doesn’t remember all this is 1. He was probably very young, and 2. That sort of thing is extremely traumatizing. He likely repressed that memory to protect his young, fragile psyche. And it can be easy for adults to be horrified or scared of a child when something like that happens. But Angel Gabby is that supportive, understanding adult I’m sure all abused children wish to have in their life, who doesn’t judge them for having to take someone’s life, who encourages them to protect themselves from their abuser, who forgives and loves that child despite doing something otherwise atrocious, and most of all, is proud to see that child grow up happy, healthy, and safe. That’s powerful stuff, and I’m glad the wholesome part is being discussed more.

thank you for this review. aside from my gratitude for introducing me to a project I hadn't heard of before, the Night Mind video mostly.. irritated me? moreso once I had actually watched through the series. any horror in the series is very grounded, real world horror. none of it is derived from Angel Hare itself.
the darker elements are there, and they absolutely inform the narrative, but it feels like such lazy surface-level engagement to call it purely dark and disturbing. acknowledging real human pain and offering hope and a light in the dark, rather than indulging in that pain for no real purpose, makes Angel Hare a beautiful series. in any case, excellent review.

There is an episode where it is implied that Jonah's mother went to a great extent trying to understand how children can have outbursts of violence. The subtext is that Jonah managed to kill his father and Gabby helped him creating a convincing alibi.

    • @MoFace
      @MoFace 7 месяцев назад +4

@@mnlg_yt I viewed that episode as Euleila believing that Jonah killed his father based on circumstantial evidence (the drawings he created, the gun hidden in the bookshelf) because as a child psychologist (or at the very least a skeptical mother), concluding that it was something supernatural that killed her husband would've been too farfetched for her. She wants to protect Jonah, but I think it's because she believes he killed the father, not that he actually did.

beautiful analysis that introduced me to this sweet little show! i love horror, but angel hare is such a refreshing take on the analog horror concept, it's nice to see it recognized and celebrated here. reducing it to its darkest elements really does a disservice to how it resonated with people. maybe i'm just becoming soft lol, but over the years i've really come to appreciate more 'horror with heart' so to speak.

going to boost this video’s chances in the algorithm, because this is probably the only video that has an actual correct take on the series. Seriously, all the other reccomend videos talk about how she’s ‘responsible for killing someone’ in the subtitles and I don’t think that’s even true + it’s just a gross misrepresentation of the actual series. Like wow it’s almost as if the original message flew over people’s heads, but I’m not surprised either :/ they want to make it sensational rather then actually taking the time and effort to properly think about and then deconstruct the message.

Angel Hare really is something that we can relate to as well. We used tv and shows to escape as well. That’s why Angel Hare touched us, and that’s why we hate when people cover it as dark and have that scary tone. It’s really a sort of “tell me you haven’t faced abuse without telling me you haven’t faced abused” sort of vibe.
Those who have been through it can understand it and click with it and it impacts them so greatly.
We’re really happy we found this series, and we’re so happy to see someone else make a genuine heartfelt video about it too.
It feels weird using plural in a comment, since we typically hide more in comment sections now and pretend to be a singlet, but we feel like a video about abuse and the effects it has and the deep meanings of a piece of art is a fitting place to unmask a bit and show the result of our trauma as well among people who get it.
From all of us in The Faraway Galaxy System: We hope you all are in better places now and you’re able to heal and grow. It’s a long long journey, but you CAN make it ❤

I always saw it about guardian angels that communicate exclusively through media from one specific company (Both Angel Hare and Wylde Hare have the same company logo if you look) because any kind of communication other than that would be dangerous.
It actually makes me wonder what other Angel Hares are out there keeping kids safe and what other shows this company produces.

Unlike all other analog horror I've read or watched the media is not the cause of the horror. The horror is ordinary human violence and the media is protective and comforting that allowed the original/main character to be okay at the end.

I do think it being build up so much in the horror scene is a bit much, as it as piece of horror media only works for the initial viewing, but at the same time I do think it says something that people welcome wholesome subversions to where they think the narrative is heading to.

I still consider this an analog horror, but in a very specific way. It’s presented in an analog fashion, but the horror, is the reality of the situation. What Jonah was going through as a kid, is horrifying. THATS the horror of it. One comment I saw described it as such “Analog setting reality horror”. And I can see that. At least in Nick Nocturne's case, even though he still makes good videos and still introduces me to great series (in fact, he was what introduced me to Petscop in the first place), he has been hit or miss in recent years (his biggest blunder were his Petscop videos after his first one. He's become a walking punchline in the Petscop community due to his clear lack of interest, passion or respect in the series and his poor analysis of the videos, which were a far cry from his other videos on series like Marble Hornets, This House Has People In It, Alantutorial, etc.). And Theft King... well he's Theft King, what do you expect.

The story of Angel Hare is sweet and uplifting...
...until you take a closer look at some of the 'lessons'...
    * How to dissemble an unstated object and hide the pieces so it won't be 'incriminating' (a word Gabby says she'll teach Jonah about later). The object is most likely a firearm.
    * How to construct an alibi so Jonah won't have to lie when questioned about something. Alibis are used to prove a person was not a suspect in a crime.
Gabby was teaching and prepping Jonah in how to murder his abusive father and get off scott free. That begs the question: how does she help the OTHER troubled kids she meets?

I see everyone talk about getting a gun but not disassembling it and hiding the pieces all over the place. Meanwhile no one talks about The alibi being him far away from home and at a friends home.
This is some common tactics to deal with long term abusers you are FORCED to live with while law enforcement builds a case for extraction and keeping them safe around a major flight risk.

  • @arthurjeremypearson
    @arthurjeremypearson 5 месяцев назад

Jonah is an unreliable narrator. He admits that he doesn't remember everything, in the fact that he's trying to remember the truth.
The presentation is through a jarring video that flashes and stutters and jumbles itself.
I was a ripe bastard of a child, and that no doubt contributed to why my parents divorced. Not every child is innocent.
The reason why angel hare speaks to me is that it's telling me to stop pretending I can escape into some fantasy world where all of MY fantastic God wishes come true.
There are consequences to MY actions.
And I can see the story in the gaps of angel hare where it could be that the narrative is of a delusional child whose only source of abuse was himself. He only pretended that his father was abusive pounding on the door. He only pretends that the scars he has was from his father. In fact they're all self-inflicted, and Jonah is guilty of killing his father in a fit of rage over some minor thing, perhaps his father turning off Jonah's favorite TV show.
And if this truly is some sort of supernatural event, then Angel Gabby is a demon whispering promises and promoting violent behavior in jonah.
The true goal in any viral video is to be so ambiguous but you create a controversy. You never say outright anything, and let analysis channels create more content for you.
This is most starkly seen in Christopher nolan. In interviews, he's explicitly stated that he wants the viewers to make the content for him. He wants everything to be so ambiguous that everyone's talking about it, explicitly demonstrating that he never had an actual vision behind it in the first place. Everyone talking about it was the point, fooling everyone into thinking there was something more there that needed to be figured out. There never was. He deliberately created a void and asked us to make content for him.
    That's not storytelling. That's a trick.
    That's clickbait.

How can you manage to interpret a series so wrong? First of all there is no evidence that Jonah was the source of his parents divorce. Secondly Jonah was really young during the events of the show, so young he didn't even know what the word incriminate ment. He wouldn't think to stage an intricate murder. He wouldn't think to fake his own scars to do what gaslight himself into hating his father really? And no Nolan movies have a plot and it is usually pretty easy to follow it too if you pay minimum attention. They are movies not rocket science. Is your fault you have zero media literacy.
