This is one of my favourite Disney Princess movies, I'm glad that they didn't make Lottie a spoiled, snooty mean girl, but a sweet natured lass who is genuinely besties with Tiana. The animation is absolutely gorgeous in this flick.
Not to mention, the movie was set in the 1920s when their friendship would’ve most likely been somewhat frowned upon. Lottie was definitely privileged and she was still the sweetest with Tiana, even paying her for her beignets (despite taking it straight from her father).
My mom is friends with a former animator at Disney when 2d was still popular and he revealed that the major reason for the company steering away from hand drawn animation was the poor performance of Atlantis and Treasure Planet. The marketing for those movies was purposefully done poorly so they could have a convenient excuse to use 3d computer animation. Essentially, they were carefully calculated scape goats.
@@lunapdg totally agree with this. what disney did was really sinister but atlantis and treasure planet are some of mine and my family's favorite disney movies ever, and i've heard lots of outspoken fans on the internet too so i'm sure we're not alone haha. disney should really make more sci fi films, they're incredibly unique and look visually stunning.
It's insane how studios like Disney and Pixar deliberately make scapegoats just so they can make excuses from running away from amazing heart felt movies. Like the MARKETING has always been the problem and yet they blame the animation or the stories!!!!! God it's infuriating
Another thing about the colors, is how the yellow and the green frame Tiana's character, she starts as a kid with a green dress representing her idealization and child-like fantasy, at that point her future restaurant is just a wish upon the stars. Then we jump to her as an adult workaholic and she now wears yellow representing more realism and skepticism, her dream restaurant is fully gold and so is the fantasy Facilier offers her, her dreams are possible but she has to work hard and make sacrifices to get them. Then by the end she's back wearing greens, at the final state of the restaurant is green, as now the fantasy is back.
In my opinion I don’t think Princess and the frog should ever become a live action. With all the live actions that they released (the only good ones in my opinion being Cinderella and maleficent) they really shouldn’t touch a beauty like this one. Tiana was and still is my favorite princess 💚🤍
I'm still upset they're making a remake of Tangled and Moana, they're not even 15 years old! Leave everything from the 2000's on alone and remake the classics first
Loved Maleficent! It’s my fav live action movie but also one of my favorite Disney movies cause of how they expand and “humanize” Maleficent (the Queen!)
I 100% agree. The animation took this story from great to once in a lifetime. This movie is a great example of why animation creates a fantastical atmosphere that live action could never recreate.
i know she’s only human for a little bit, but i feel like everyone always remembers tiana’s iconic looks which really shows how strong those designs are
12:40 I also love that this dress was suited for Tiana, rather than Lottie despite being Lottie’s dress. It gives the impression that Lottie had it SAVED for Tiana, because why would she wear a blue dress when her whole wardrobe is pink? It shows Lottie’s care for Tiana more than just verbally.
Bro I was just talking about this with my other Animation classmates. It’s so sad Disney suddenly decided for themselves that 2d was “dead”. Other studios have shown us otherwise. Films like Klaus, the boy and the heron. Even with into the spiderverse with the 2d/3d hybrid animation style. Cartoon saloon is also a really good studio. 2D isn’t dead.
and that's how wish ended up as it is, where the 2d outlining was thrown in last minute as a realisation that 2D can still be popular and not like in a parody way like space jam or enchanted (disenchanted and space jam 2 used the same animation studio)
I watched 2D animation growing up. I do like some of the 3D animation art styles, but most of the animated things I watch are still in different 2D art styles.
This movie is so underrated. It's my favorite princess movie. Also I love that Tiana is very accurately dressed when she's human, with the exception of her hair. No matter what, she's gorgeous, driven, strong and hard-working. She's THE inspiration for young girls.
Unpopular Opinion: I think that Tiana being a frog most of the movie was extremely important to how her character was, she and Naveen needed time to develop and her personality would not have allowed it without that conflict. It's unfortunate for the first black princess, but I don't see the story being as good any other way without just rewriting the whole thing. Hopefully the show won't need to fall on transformation conflict and give human Tiana the spot-light she deserves.
I feel the same way. I always wonder how the movie would be different if Tiana weren't a frog, but I can never figure out how they would make that work. Like you mentioned with their character development, but also the movie just wouldn't be as engaging without that conflict because the original story, "The Frog Prince", isn't that interesting. 🤷🏾♀A princess finds a frog, kisses it, it turns into a prince, and they live happily ever after. The end. That would make for a short and boring movie. I can understand why they used "The Frog Princess" by E. D. Baker as inspiration. It's much more engaging and leaves room for character growth.
One of my favorite influence of this film is that a lot of cases of kids kissing frogs increased the year it released. 😂 But my all time favorite influence is Tiana herself. As a black girl born in 1997, we only had Jasmine and Pocahontas to relate to visually. But when Tiana came out I felt so SEEN. I'll never forget when my mom told me that Tiana had the same dimples as me. Younger me would have loved to get to grow up with a black Disney princess.
I felt the same way growing up, also a 1997 black girlie 🙋🏾♀️ my mom preferred the live action remakes and versions cuz she didn’t like cartoons much, so I got lucky when she got the Disney live action Cinderella…with Brandy as Cinderella. It clicked for me as a kid when I saw it and I was like, “Woah, I could be Cinderella!?” That ment so much to me as a kid seeing that. Finally getting a stand-alone animated movie of a black princess made me so happy. And the fact that Tiana worked hard to achieve her dreams gave me hope as a kid. Also, her name rhymes with mine 😂
I was born in 1998 so when I first saw a commercial for Princess and the frog on a videotape for another Disney movie, I can’t remember which one but I just remember that I never saw her before and thought “oh you’re doing it again! You’re still making movies, Huzzah!”
@@mattybrunolucaszeneresalas9072 Yeah, it was a Disney made for Tv kinda movie. Also I didn’t know until looking it up just now, but actually premiered on ABC the day I was born. 🥹
Same! 🙌🏾 I was 9 when The Princess and the Frog came out, but before that, I remember latching onto Jasmine because she was the only princess that looked somewhat like me. (I hadn’t seen Pocahontas until I was older.) I was so happy when they made Tiana!
I’m SO glad someone mentions how its such a good form of art, not to compare since each has its unique feeling. This is by far my favorite movie of all Disney, i relate to how hardworking she is, warmth in style as well as honoring family and especially her connection with her father ( and supportive loved ones) its just so different in characters to other princesses and movies, it makes me feel joyful!
It's so wild to hear someone who doesn't like Naveen, especially as a Eugene fan. I feel like people who love one always love the other. Imo they are the perfect princes of Disney bc they feel like real, fully fleshed out men. It's totally valid if Naveen isn't your cup of tea though! But I love him because he's flawed, just like Eugene. Flawed characters are just way more endearing to me, especially when they have good hearts deep down, the way Eugene and Naveen do.
Charlotte is such a unique, excellent, entertaining, and kind female character. She’s very feminine, loves makeup and seems to follow the makeup and fashion trends of her time. She’s also fashionable and loves everything pink, shiny and sparkly. She comes from a wealthy family; she is a perfect example of “spoiled and never rotten”. She helps Tiana and isn’t a bit condescending. She’s kind and never mean. She’s a genuine friend, not two-faced or a bully. We need more characters like her. She should’ve gotten her own spin-off, too. Seeing a lead character like her would be so interesting and entertaining.
2D isn't dead, and I'm not talking about anime. Cartoon Saloon makes some gorgeous and wonderful works. Wolfwalkers, Song of the Sea, The Breadwinner, Secret of Kells, all are amazingly animated films, and some of them could even rival Studio Ghibli with their magic. The Rise of the TMNT (and any hand drawn work by Flying Bark for that matter, the same company that's going to make the upcoming Avatar the Last Airbender movie BTYW) is a GORGEOUS action packed movie that's heartfelt and epic, even if you are not a TMNT fan. The movie was SO good that Rise fans are reanimating deleted scenes because that's how amazing the storyboards were. Not to mention Klaus, one of the best Christmas films ever made, and I don't even LIKE Christmas films. Disney isn't going to make anything 2D if no one shows up for it. So show up for the hand drawn animation we have, show that we are willing to support 2D animated films outside of Disney, so that they would be tempted to make more. Disney saw how much more money CGI films from other studios were making, and they made a change. If you want them to change back, then support and talk about the hand drawn, non anime, non Disney films we DO have.
it makes me SO happy to hear people talking about cartoon saloon!!!! i have a friend who works there and they’re just the loveliest people and their movies are stunning
0:36 Wish was SUCH a missed opportunity. I thought it was the perfect choice to also have a Black female lead. Asha, the character who was supposed to represent the *𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 of 2D animation,* would have been like seeing Tiana come back to life.
Especially because it sounds like the original vision for Wish was kind of a veiled dystopia, and the story fell flat because of all the corporate interference preventing them from making the villains villainous enough for the story to make sense.
The arcane season 2 brainrot is taking over and I have to say that I would *kill* to hear you talk about arcane. Costuming, colors, characterization, literally any of the stuff you would be interested in discussing. Your videos are so fun to watch because you discuss the parts of media that usually get left behind (like how most focus exclusively on story) and to see that unique twist from you would be so cool. You mentioned arcane at the end of this and my train of thought derailed like crazy and suddenly I was combing your channel to see if you'd talked about it yet. Really enjoyed seeing you talk about this movie! Was not expecting it at all haha
princess and the frog is where i first fell in love with New Orleans and French Creole style and culture. I’ve visited and it’s my favorite city. I hope to move there one day, it’s such a beautiful and welcoming and unique place. I do really love this movies style and how it portrays the city and people
this is probably my favorite disney princess movie of all time and it breaks my heart that it couldn’t save 2d animation. it’s so stunning in ways that’s still hard for me to comprehend because i don’t think i’ve ever seen an animated movie as beautiful as this one
I was born raised and still live in New Orleans and this movie captures the New Orleans culture and feels so New Orleans and the messages and in this movie are so amazing!!
I honestly would love more Disney content about human Tiana and Naveen’s life after the movie. If they do end up making a show I really hope it’s made well and made with care! This movie is very dear to me and many others.
The various music styles in the soundtrack's score are also from the African-American influenced styles you'd find in Louisiana, too. Blues, jazz, zydeco (personal favorite), and that gospel style are just the BEST. This soundtrack is THE BEST from this era of Disney.
i’m soooo glad they remodeled splash mountain at disney world after the princess and the frog. the scenery on the ride is so beautiful and very fitting of the enchanting aura of the movie :)
I remember as promotion for the movie they showed previous disney movie scenes how thy looked like as pencil drawings and then as the finished animation. I remember that this was the first time I understood that all these movies were actually handdrawn and just how much work goes into making them. It left such a strong impression on me and how amazing it is, it's so sad that we never really got anything more out of this.
I love the analysis on the overall visuals of the movie. Couldn't have ever phrased it any better than ya! :) I do, however, have some thoughts on your take on Naveen's character. I don't necessarily think it's just him "appearing" to change at the end. We see his growth throughout the entire movie, from when he first learns how to cook with Tiana all the way to him working alongside her at her restaurant. I think he changed for the better because of her influence, the same way she was able to relax a little more around him. :) They perfectly balance each other out, and though yes, Naveen may have been lazy, he at least knows how to have a good time and learn from the people around him. Tiana, Ray, and even Mama Odie helped him realize his past mistakes as a person. He shouldn't stay lazy forever, he shouldn't be such a playboy, and you got to dig a little deeper to fully realize what you truly want in life. I think the way he's flawed makes his progress feel a lot more satisfying at the end! :) Of course, these are just my thoughts on him. You're always welcome to have your own opinion :) Just thought I'd share.
9:50 YES YES YES I remember after getting into tarot and rewatching this movie checking each of the card meanings in association with this sequence. It was great to see the detail put into it and see how it told the story accurately.
as a 3D animation student I am so happy to see people talking about all kinds of animation films, but even moreso these non-3D gems!!! from stop motion to anime to 2D classics and the new wonders like Klaus, it's all so magical amd charming, I love to see the general public feeling excited about it! Which is exactly what has been leading the revolution in the stylized visuals of 3D lately, with works like Spiderverse or Arcane as you mentioned (what i wouldn't GIVE for you to talk about arcane!!!! it's such a good and GORGEOUS series and so slept on by the girlies!!!), which are the kinds of 3D productions that inspired me to study 3D in the first place
I literally just watched this with my friend! It’s our comfort movie, and I just drool over the artwork everytime. It’s one of my biggest inspirations as an artist.
10:44 not trying to be a stickler but the first Disney movie to use cg wasn’t beauty and the beast! It was “The Great Mouse Detective”! It was used for a chase seen for the end of the movie! I just wanted to say this because the great mouse detective doesn’t get enough love but I really like your video!
i love naveen partly because of his lazyness tbh haha i like flawed characters! and at the time most disney princes were a bit bland and 'too perfect' to my taste - my top 3 of disney princes is Naveen, Flynn and Aladdin
Gods, this movie is gorgeous! The animation is one of Disney's best and I love how much it feels like a classic Disney movie. I especially love that it's set in New Orleans because that is a city with such a fascinating culture that offers so much room for creativity.
5:00 I can’t believe these sequences were done in a rush! It was always my favourite sequence as a kid, the art just caught my attention so well. Edit: princess and the frog was actually one of my favourite movies as a kid, I think it may be because my family is very musical and I was an artist as well so the thing that was most important to me was the music and visuals and not the story as a kid, I think I just never really had many problems with stories and plot lines in general. It could be the most lame story and I’d still be entertained as long as the art and music is good enough.
This is so me too, grew up in a musical family so I tuned in to everything that had good music and visuals as a kid irregardless of the story sometimes I go back to some of the movies I was watching and I'm like this wasn't this bad before 😭
YES! I am so happy to see you talk about both of my favourite disney princess movies (Tangled and Princess and the frog), thank you so much! Your videos always make my day and I NEED that rant on Tangled and how amazing it is because the passion was adorable and it’s my absolute favourite disney movie! The amount of detail you put in is so impressive! So happy to have you back
As an artist, thank you so much for making this video! To be honest The princess and the frog has always been a memorable childhood movie for me but I kind of forgot about how gorgeous and how much effort the artists put into this movie. The creative insights that you shined upon each point have been incredibly insightful in explaining the creative decisions, and i will definitely be rewatching this movie and doing some studies for it soon. Banger video!! Keep up the great essays ❤❤❤
This is my absolute favorite Disney Princess film, it’s the whole reason I’ve become obsessed with animation and the stories behind each movie, cartoon, and indie series. I think I might be the only one who think the two of them being frogs for most of the movie really helps with the messages of the film. Tiana is a hard worker who is determined to make her and her father’s dream a reality, even if it means she works herself to the bone. We see in Duke’s how adaptable she is in stressful situations (giving the little girl a napkin, carrying multiple trays at once, even knowing most customers by name and their usual orders). So once she’s turned into a frog, we can actually see in time how she adapts to her new situation. This directly affects Naveen as they journey together. Naveen is your classic rich pretty boy who knows he can get what he wants just by flashing a smile. We even see Tiana turn him away during the introduction sequence. Once he’s turned to a frog, looks are no longer a factor, especially since Tiana distinctly dislikes frogs. Naveen starts out as lazy and simply expects others to do things for him, most importantly he is not above asking for help if he knows he can benefit from it. Asking for help is something Tiana, though not out right, refuses to do. Because she believes that if you work hard enough, you will earn what you desire, and it took her being disrespected by the real estate agents for her to even wish upon a star. Throughout their adventure,Tiana repeatedly gets Naveen to actually do things to help, and we see Tiana at times going along with Naveen’s antics. Them falling in love as frogs throws looks out the window. Though yes, they both know what the other looks like as humans before officially meeting, you almost forget that they were human up to this point. So when we see Lawrence as Naveen, or when Dr. Facilier turn Tiana to try and tempt her, these scenes are more tense and impactful. Especially the final transformation when they get married as frogs and the shock wares off, Tiana realizes that SHE is now a princess. The best part is seeing how their time as frogs influenced them in the end. Tiana is still a hard worker, but she has learned that it’s ok to have fun. We even see her singing and dancing in the end, something she said she couldn’t do in the beginning to her friends. We see Naveen actually working, not just on the restaurant, but in it as well. He’s become much more humble and appears to be much happier with a life he had earned rather being the play boy from before. That feeling of satisfaction is something I don’t think would’ve been accomplished if the were human most or even half of the time. The same scenes we praise for lighting, animation, and even choreography would not have the same impact as they do. Though I will admit I wish this story could get more love from Disney like what they did with Tangled.
PAUSE THO i needed 😭 to put that naveen and tiana’s kiss IS amazing because of dialogue “and im about to to it again” WHATTTT LIKE I NEED MY OWN NAVEEN RNNNNNNNN
As an animation lover and an adult , Anastasia always topped one of my favorites to just even rewatch for its beauty. It's mostly 2D and yet combines CGI in scenes where it was damn near close to as seamless as Princess and The Frog. I always really loved Don Bluth's movies for its impeccable animation and detail....but god I never seen light be so well animated till atleast Princess and I can't say I have had that feeling for animated light since. But ! There's still hand drawn stuff , even if not as big as it was or should be , there's still hope and beauty in this form. I don't think it's entirely dead , just more niche. Adults should learn to appreciate animation as well here in the western world. There's so much you can do that translates so much better in this art rather then live or 3d.
Wow, I haven't seen this movie in like a decade! Thank you for reminding me how much the animation popped. Look at those COLORS 💚 Also, Lottie and Tiana's friendship is the cutest thing.
I miss Tiana's determination. She was on FIRE. Tiana was always one of my favorite princesses because she WORKED her way up. She took a dream and made it reality while finding love, AND breaking a curse on both her and Naveen!! I also love Ariel because we get to see her become a mother, and how she lives on land after.
I feel like prince navine could change in a day considering his life was at risk everyday as a frog and after spending time with tiana he was willing to let go of everything to spend his life with her at the frog wedding when they thought it was too late, that marrying and her kindness and effort made tiana a princess to break the curse
I remember playing Little Tiana in a theater adaptation of this movie. Nothing special, just a high school production. However, looking at this movie as a creative person and seeing how amazing it is makes me proud to have been chosen to play the role.
I'm so happy to see a video mentioning Bambi's way of depicting nature. It took inspiration from Chinese water painting and the idea of 'leaving blanks for imagination'. A couple of strokes can be the clouds or the mountains. Also I loved how you talked about the almost there clip(literally click this video because of the cover lol)!!! I can't express how much I appreciate that art style and transition into the sequence!!
@@imagiccion I mean, it's their property, so they can do as they see fit. I'm curious why they chose hybrid, though; 3D wouldn't have surprised me, but I expected it to be 2D.
By hybrid I wonder if they're gonna use a clean filter and perspectives like spiderverse, or persona so it looks 2d and clean or if they'll do another Wish. Like I've seen really awesome blends of them both and then Wish existed and kinda shown how awful it could be if done poorly. I just hope they'd do enough 2d effects that lets it look awesome if they did it but if they're making another Princess and the Frog I think they should do 2d personally.
@@OpticalSorcerer Would be a step in the right direction, though I just wish they'd loosen their chains on the animators, if they did and there was the right direction we could have something truly great.
I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one who was dissatisfied with how Prince Naveen was handled in The Princess and the Frog. I feel like Tiana only feel in love with him because of Stockholm Syndrome, not because he had a real change of heart. 😢
He looks like he had a change of heart though, both of them, you can see him helping her with her restaurant when he wouldn't have done that before and you see Tiana allowing herself to have fun too, but to each their own I guess
I find it so fascinating that Tiana is the only Disney princess who has friends. All the other princesses have animal sidekicks and a boyfriend, that’s it. But Tiana has Charlotte, an actual peer her own age with goals and dreams just as real as the main character’s. It makes Tiana feel more like an actual person you’d meet in real life and not a princess trope
my nieces (who are 5) recently asked me what my favorite disney/who my favorite disney princess was. orginally i was going to say mulan because i loved the idea of this woman disguised as a man doing war better than them to be cool in my youth, but then my mind shifted and just said princess and the frog. naturally, they asked why. i then proceeded to rant to my nieces about how cool the magic looks and how the story taught you to value having wishes and goals just as much as the world values working hard and they lost interest in the conversation (that they started btw) but i still feel that way about this movie. THAT and at the time there weren’t many people of color being represented at the time, besides pocahontas which isn’t really the best, and she resonated with me despite not being black, rather hispanic. the messages of working hard and being “almost there” to cope with hard times and make light of difficulties that come with being darker skinned. maybe i yapped too long about it but hopefully this made sense lmao
For me this is the best Disney movie as a past kid and pressnt adult The protagonist is strong, independent and hardworking. She has her own dream away from just finding love. The visuals and scenes are a masterpiece i have never seen a movie like this before
I grew up in New Orleans, and JESUS I love how this movie depicts it. It didn’t really click until you said how they designed the backgrounds with how New Orleans FEELS, cause it’s so true. Watching the princess and the frog makes me incredibly nostalgic because it almost perfectly resembles how it feels as a child to live in New Orleans- like everything is incredibly beautiful and like your in a fairy tale, wandering from shops and art exhibits and listening to music.
This is one of my all time favourite Disney movies. The colours really bring it to life and I could not have said it better than you did. It was such ashame Tiana was a frog for the majority of her movie.
It's one of my favourites! I want 2D back or a cool mix! Love the colours in this movie as well as Lottie & Tiana's friendship. However, Transformers 1986 movie has got to be my favourite animated movie ever
Words can’t describe how much I love this film, the animation and how beautiful the visuals are truly amazing. I really loved this movie as a child when I first watched because it was so refreshing for me as a child to see black representation in a Disney movie
love how you defended 3D animation in disney with Encanto being your main example (that movie is so beautiful) but also hammered down the point of how much potential 2D animation has! 2D animation can get away with more visual gags, more extreme expressions and bodytypes and more visual surrealism! all things I miss so much in 2D animation that I wish animation industries will bring back in their movies! 😭
The last point you made about how even with no sound, visually, the movie is still able to convey the plot with the same conviction. I watched this with no audio and only captions so I thought that was a very sound observation
This movie was literally such a huge fixation of mine as a child my 7th birthday party was themed around it 💪 My aunt even got someone to tailor a dress that looked almost exactly like Tiana’s You can say that birthday party was a core memory
The Princess and The Frog is by far the most realistic depiction of an irl princess to me. At first I didn't watch the film because I was skeptical about the storyline, like "how can you complicate kissing a frog?" idk, it felt as if you couldn't figure out how it would be more interesting than just that. I watched it a year later once it was on TV and I was so surprised by all of it. I don't think I've ever felt a disney princess son tangible and tied to the REAL world. She has a job, aspirations, a plan, family love, a good family unit, values are her forefront, all of the things I wanted from previous films. My favorite princesses were always Ariel, Cinderella and Aurora (for the pink merch) but Tiana offered me a realistic approach to a fairytale and the coming of age into young adulthood if you will, that was ACTUALLY possible. I never get bored when watching this movie, the coloring and all the effects are INCREDIBLE!! And may I add, the most changes in wardrobe of any princess 😍 I completely understand the problem of her being a frog most of the movie, but I do think that her story and the topics they targeted whether directly or indirectly speak louder to me personally than the frog aspect does. To me this story was ahead of it's time and only recently I think people are starting to realize what this movie offered. Too bad Disney decided to leave 2D behind, they're still by far my favorite films. I also wish they brough back more films with the quality of "The Parent Trap" or "The Princess Diaries", THEY WERE JUST SO WELL MADE. This new gen of disney feels very forgetable in my opinion, of course I'm probably not the demographic but I think they need to turn up the spark a little more. Disney is for everyone at the end of the day ❤✨🐸
I showed this video to my dad who was one of the background painters of this movie, and he really enjoyed your video! He thought you made some great points and it reminded him of all the good times while working on that movie. Keep up the good work
I love this movie sm! I think I’ve watched this movie over 50 times now (no joke I’ve memorized some of the script and the songs-) But besides that I also love the fact that Lottie still supports Tiana when she said she loves Naveen! Not to mention Tiana got her restaurant AND her man! Mash that together with fun songs amazing visuals and story telling and you’ve got yourself Princess and the Frog 💚
Theres so much personality in disneys final 2d movies, atlantis, treasure planet and princess and the frog are all really good, and i wish they would go back to it one day
what’s your favourite 2D movie?? it doesn’t have to be Disney!
Did you watch the Snow White trailer? I….have some thoughts about it.

I'm terrified just thinking about the nightmare those cgi Frogs are going to be...
Tiana is also my favourite, this is probably one of if not my favourite Disney movie

“Friends on the other side” is one of the best villain songs
Bro I was just talking about this with my other Animation classmates. It’s so sad Disney suddenly decided for themselves that 2d was “dead”. Other studios have shown us otherwise. Films like Klaus, the boy and the heron. Even with into the spiderverse with the 2d/3d hybrid animation style. Cartoon saloon is also a really good studio. 2D isn’t dead.
and that's how wish ended up as it is, where the 2d outlining was thrown in last minute as a realisation that 2D can still be popular and not like in a parody way like space jam or enchanted (disenchanted and space jam 2 used the same animation studio)
i have a friend that works at cartoon saloon!! they’re amazing 💗
@@nightwish1453 It may be parody, but the 10 seconds of hand drawn animation in Enchanted is God Tier.
I watched 2D animation growing up. I do like some of the 3D animation art styles, but most of the animated things I watch are still in different 2D art styles.
i love cartoon saloon so much all their movies are so gorgeous
This movie is so underrated. It's my favorite princess movie. Also I love that Tiana is very accurately dressed when she's human, with the exception of her hair. No matter what, she's gorgeous, driven, strong and hard-working. She's THE inspiration for young girls.
Happy 15th anniversary to "The Princess and the Frog." I'm super excited for the upcoming "Tiana" sequel series, I hope that it's just as riveting.
yeah, I'm looking forward to the series, and seeing the 2D come back too, see what it will be about and getting to know Tiana more

Naveen is literally my favorite prince 😪 it was definitely Eric as a kid but as an adult - aw lawdy those dimples 😪😪
eugene is one stage above him i think😂😉

Tiana’s silver/blue dress is literally one of the best disney dresses i was OBSESSED with it when i was little and still am
One of my favorite influence of this film is that a lot of cases of kids kissing frogs increased the year it released. 😂
But my all time favorite influence is Tiana herself.
@@arianabell9351 wait that black Cinderella movie was Disney?
I also miss 2d animation like i think it looks so pretty and now all the princesses have the rapunzel/elsa face. Bring it back Disney!!!
As a Princess and the Frog fan as well as a Tiana fan, I'm genuinely so happy you made this video!! 🐸👑
why is princess and the frog the MOST amazing looking disney movie good god

Babe wake up, art at midnight just posted!! 🗣️🗣️
This is one of my favorite movies of ALL TIME! In addition to being visually gorgeous the music is amazing, and Tiana is such a lovable princess.
Of course, these are just my thoughts on him. You're always welcome to have your own opinion :) Just thought I'd share.
Exactly! 👏🏾👏🏾

9:50 YES YES YES I remember after getting into tarot and rewatching this movie checking each of the card meanings in association with this sequence. It was great to see the detail put into it and see how it told the story accurately.
I don't just respect 2D, I love it, I breathe it, it's my life force
as a 3D animation student I am so happy to see people talking about all kinds of animation films, but even moreso these non-3D gems!!! from stop motion to anime to 2D classics and the new wonders like Klaus, it's all so magical amd charming, I love to see the general public feeling excited about it!
GMD is one of my faves despite so many parts of it scaring the crap outta me as a kid. The clock sequence was so good.
i love naveen partly because of his lazyness tbh haha i like flawed characters! and at the time most disney princes were a bit bland and 'too perfect' to my taste - my top 3 of disney princes is Naveen, Flynn and Aladdin
truly one of the most underrated disney movies it’s so cute!
Gods, this movie is gorgeous! The animation is one of Disney's best and I love how much it feels like a classic Disney movie. I especially love that it's set in New Orleans because that is a city with such a fascinating culture that offers so much room for creativity.
Tiana is hands-down my favorite princess. Tiana is a "princess" WORTH looking up to and admiring.

13:08 That frog on the pillow absolutely slays me. They're so cute. I hope they paid them double.
4 minutes in and I paused to rewatch the movie after a hard day. The opening scene with Tiana’s dad will never fail to make me sob😭❤️
Wow, I haven't seen this movie in like a decade! Thank you for reminding me how much the animation popped. Look at those COLORS 💚
Also, Lottie and Tiana's friendship is the cutest thing.
BUT THATS THE BEST PART OF HIS CHARACTER 13:59
I LOVE THIS MOVIE 😭😭😭😭 also naveen slander will not be tolerated but it's okay bc i get it
I miss Tiana's determination. She was on FIRE. Tiana was always one of my favorite princesses because she WORKED her way up. She took a dream and made it reality while finding love, AND breaking a curse on both her and Naveen!! I also love Ariel because we get to see her become a mother, and how she lives on land after.
People might like belle for her smarts but let's be honest.. JASMINE.. Jasmine has a lot of wit!
I feel like prince navine could change in a day considering his life was at risk everyday as a frog and after spending time with tiana he was willing to let go of everything to spend his life with her at the frog wedding when they thought it was too late, that marrying and her kindness and effort made tiana a princess to break the curse
13:08 the frog looked like it was smiling :D
My favorite Disney movie, hits way harder after going to New Orleans in real life
I remember playing Little Tiana in a theater adaptation of this movie.
The Princess and The Frog will always be my favorite princess movie ever.
The almost there sequence has literally always stayed in my mind!! I love it
It really hurts that the show is gonna be hybrid animation. I love 2D and 3D, but hybrid animation is disorienting for me.
Hybrid animation? Seriously? My god, hasn't disney disrespected 2D and PatF enough???

This is my favorite Disney movie, always my favorite scene. It inspired me to become an animator
I personally think the food from the princess and the frog is delicious(it unrelated yes but the visual makes the food so...tasty)

I’m soooooo glad you’re talking about this movie because it really is gorgeous!
my nieces (who are 5) recently asked me what my favorite disney/who my favorite disney princess was. orginally i was going to say mulan because i loved the idea of this woman disguised as a man doing war better than them to be cool in my youth, but then my mind shifted and just said princess and the frog. naturally, they asked why. i then proceeded to rant to my nieces about how cool the magic looks and how the story taught you to value having wishes and goals just as much as the world values working hard and they lost interest in the conversation (that they started btw) but i still feel that way about this movie.
For me this is the best Disney movie as a past kid and pressnt adult
The protagonist is strong, independent and hardworking.
It saddens me that Princess and the Forg was the last animated movie in 2D, that was a beautiful art (I'm not badmouthing the 3D either)
I LOVE cartoon saloon animations. Wolfwalkers is one of my favorite movies to date.

This movie was literally such a huge fixation of mine as a child my 7th birthday party was themed around it 💪
My aunt even got someone to tailor a dress that looked almost exactly like Tiana’s
You can say that birthday party was a core memory
WOLFWALKERS
WOLFWALKERS is the most beautiful 2D animation so far this decade (and it came in 2020)
I just love how 2D movies look like paintings

Keep up the good work
The animation is sooo beautiful in this movie i would HATE if disney made a live action of this.
I love this movie sm! I think I’ve watched this movie over 50 times now (no joke I’ve memorized some of the script and the songs-)
But besides that I also love the fact that Lottie still supports Tiana when she said she loves Naveen! Not to mention Tiana got her restaurant AND her man! Mash that together with fun songs amazing visuals and story telling and you’ve got yourself Princess and the Frog 💚
Theres so much personality in disneys final 2d movies, atlantis, treasure planet and princess and the frog are all really good, and i wish they would go back to it one day
I’m so glad you made a video about this movie. It really feels like Disney’s last film made with love poured into the animation, music, and story.
Just rewatched this today. Love this film and everything going on around it right now with the ride and the upcoming show possibly soon.
I used to watch this movie a lot as a child. So to see a video show some love and appreciation for this film is just so heart-warming to me.
