I beg you to take a look at Disney Twisted Wonderland,It's a game from Disney japan, manga's are coming out and an anime is in development. All the characters are based on those from old disney movies.
I was totally confused by your video what does ever after high have to do with the new descendants movie and my l ask what does the life action Snow White have to do with this
@@alexlawson7458ever after high was cancelled due to the descendants franchise/disney, there's more info on another eah deep dive but i forgot the channel haha
Ikr, Disney's descendents fashion is so generic, it doesn't even hold the charm of their iconic classics! The clothes in EAH are Eye-candy, always loved them sm. Disney could never.
@@wolftail2558Fr!!! Like they treated all the character designs in EAH equally but in Descendants they just made all the kids of the villains wear leather which is kinda a bad move. Also the designs in EAH match the characters.
@LeonardoHamato Correct like Alistor Outfit and The Wonderland Outfits. But E.A.H. drawings are still better than the actors with bad wigs and makeup in descendants. I genuinely thought Descendants hard to watch, but I did eventually. The songs were the only good point of descendants.
Right descendent wasn’t even worth it like it’s not like I dint enjoy it as a kid but it dint compare to how much I enjoyed monster high and ever after high AT ALL if you compare descendent to these I will consider it pretty really bad.
was a hardcore descendants kid growing up, and as much as i enjoyed the movies, when i rewatched them with my little sister recently, god were they AWFUL. The first two movies were decent, but from there the budget just… fell off? The cgi was sh!t and the costumes and scenery looked cheap. Not to mention, the new Red movie was god awful and didn’t even follow the original plot, i get they didn’t want to do it without Carlos (Cameron), but then just dont make another movie?. The writing was off and imo there was almost no points of conflict, and when there WERE, the main characters quickly got a solution for it (wether it was for themselves or a third party.) As much as i loved descendants, to me it just seemed like a cheap cashgrab, and cancelling EAH was one of the biggest mistakes the stupid company has done.
What’s a crime is your spelling and grammar. Descendants was conceptualized years before EAH was a thing. Secondly, they didn’t cancel the franchise bc of Descendants, they canceled it because they had budget cuts.
@neb.9489 its just a comment lmao, no one gives two shits abt grammar and spelling. Descendants was conceptualized first so what? thats not our point at all. Plus, no, Disney literally SUED Mattel for apparently stealing ideas from Descendants, which i disagree and agree with. Its true they are all like “the daughters/sons of fairy tale characters” , and Eah was SO MUCH better than Descendants. Descendants just singing every 5 mins while their storyline is actually just MESSED UP. Imagine letting the pretty female lead win and letting Audrey get her not happy ending💀 like maam Audrey got her boyfriend SNATCHED, she has every right to become a villain. realise how EAH was NEVER focusing on relationships? the entire show was literally women empowerment and not only women but also men! They had great character development and relationships like Charming and Rosabella, Darling and Apple, etc. Conclusion: Disney ended a masterpiece for a balcony sandwich
I will never forget or forgive Disney for canceling Ever After High. We were also so close to have a crossover movie with Monster High and Ever After High if it wasn’t for Disney cancelling Eah
@@aromaladyelliebut they did what are you even talking about Disney sued Mattel because of copyright violation of Disney characters even though they themselves stole all characters from the grimstale series but that’s beside the point
@@aromaladyellie Mattel actually had a deal for 20+ years for Disney's dolls, EAH died out as a result of their dolls lowering in quality (likely due to Disney pulling out of their deal, thus losing a big part of their budget). Hasbro only did dolls for Disney for 6 years. While speculation, it seems more than a coincidence that MH also lost quality when they lost Disney - the new G3 MH dolls being starkly better than G2 also lines up with when they reconciled and started doing dolls together again 🤷♀
@@strabababerry That is true, but it really is a confirmed statement that Ever After High got canceled because of Descendants. I’m not saying that’s the real reason, but that’s the reason the fandom was given years ago, that Mattel didn’t think it could compete with Disney. So people aren’t exactly wrong to stick by that assumption either since it’s the reason they had for so long.
The daughter of Cinderella being named ashlynn fits so much. Before the evil stepmother came to Cinderellas life, she was just called Ella. Since she always had to clean, Ella had Cinder on her clothes, therefore got named Cinderella. Ashlynn is supposed to become the next Cinderella, and therefore will get Ash, another word for cinder, all over her clothes. This is such a little and yet clever detail and I love it.
Many of the EAH names are like this and I absolutely love it! Cedar wood, briar beauty, cerise hood, etc. They all go back into the stories and are fun little details! The attention to detail compared to Disney's versions is incomparable.
I really disliked the new tagline "Where Princesses Are Powerful", because "The End....is just the beginning" captured the show so well, and as a little prince I felt left out. 😂
I am a princess, but I agree it really excludes people! I also think the new tagline really missed the point. The story of ever after high is about taking control of your future, and pushing away from harmful expectations, it's not about 'strength' alone.
@@eleana4251 Not to mention that not all characters are princesses: Maddie, Cerise, Duchess, Sparrow, Humphrey, Cedar, Blondie, Cupid, Kitty, Alistair, Bunny, Hunter, Ramona, Farrah, Faybelle
while yes it is exluding, it also makes sense, little girls aren't really raised to see themselves as powerful and strong, well at least not most, while most guys grew up being told they are strong, it's the same reason barbie exist because girls weren't and still aren't at large told they can be strong if they want to
@@s__9939 idk it’s really a double edged sword with how guys are “taught that their strong” it’s really you MUST BE Strong. My family didn’t let me be a kid and immediately tried to make me a rock (in my earliest memories) since I was 4; so I’ve always admired female strength (at least in film) cuz they embrace you humanness and soft qualities and acknowledge that they don’t make you weak, but that it makes sure stronger (especially when you learn to control it and not suppress it; there’s a difference).
What I loved about Prince Charming was a fact he had a certain moral compass despite his vanity. At one point he was dared by his friends to date Queen of Hearts daughter Lizzy. As a bet originally. However, when he find out that she really appreciated that moment and was truly enchanted by that he did not revealed the fact he was dating with her. He knew that breaking girls heart like that would be a nasty move. In effect he lost his bet, but gained viewers respect. So much character development under 3 min.
And then Descendants had a crappy knock-off of Daring known as Chad Charming, who is unlikable, with no character development whatsoever and only exists to be a jerk knock-off of Daring.
@aouzayr24Yes, her dad is the beast. Since Belle & the Beast never had a son, Rosabella automatically get the destiny of Belle. As for the destiny of the Beast, it will go to any male Charming that Rosabella is interested. That is why there are so many unrelated Charming families in the universe to fill in any gaps.
Another thing that baffles ne about descendants is how people like cindrella and aroura that were the symbols of kindness and understanding and you know EMPATHY suddenly have turned so selfish and also had selfish children like chad and Audrey and why belle whose whole character arc was based of acceptance and not judging a book by its cover suddenly became so the opposite of all that towards the innocent children of the villains
Aurora is not a character in the movies we have no idea what she’s like. Cinderella was shown in the newest descendants movie, and she wasn’t like that either. Older self at least, her younger self is an interesting character but not selfish like Chad. And actually it makes perfect sense! Because the entire point of the first movie is “your parents don’t define you”. Chad and Audrey have great parents and turned out to be selfish, just like the Isle kids have terrible parents and turned out to be good. Belle wasn’t even largely against bringing the isle kids over in the movies, she just had reasonable concerns.
@@samikay626 dude... They literally used a magical dome to keep ALL of them in the slums they created for them like an off-site prison city. 💀 I feel like BOTH Belle AND beast drops the human rights ball right there. 😆
@@Gingersnaps_the_pumpkin_kitty oh there’s no denying that! I can go even further and say they are shitty parents for making Ben king at 16 years old. But to say Belle wasn’t accepting of the isle kids and that it’s out of character is just wrong. She had reservations but wasn’t downright dismissive of what Ben wanted to do. Which also lines up in the animated movie- she treated the Beast with caution at first, she was a bit scared. It took her a minute to really warm up to him, like it took her a minute to warm up to the isle kids. And addressing the other comment bc I don’t want to make two. No. There are not 2 Cinderellas. It’s confirmed it’s the same Cinderella, because Charming mentions Chad by name.
I know the books came after the animations, however, on Legacy Day, it's shown that rather than being imprisioned, Raven was now expected to step into other stories and overtake them just like her mother did (who mind you, is the reason why Wonderland can't be accessed anymore and is imprisioned in a mirror jail). I love the books, they expand on some really interesting points.
I’d imagine that Raven’s big issue was not just her in the original story but being expected to really follow in her mother’s footsteps and be punished for it as well, which makes Apple and the whole mythos of this world…wild. I remember the book about Lizzie describing going into depth about her leaving Wonderland and what happened to it being really dangerous, too
@@themaybeso6117 yep, and like, everybody expected Raven to follow her destiny when like... That would be very bad for everyone? The damage done to Wonderland was beyond fixing and they stil wanted Evil Queen 2?
@@robinevergarden Raven: Supposed to be the pinacle of evil, a poweful tyrant hellbent on dominating all fairy tales (and maybe even succeed). The royals: Ugh, why does Raven doesn't wanna follow her destiny???? So annoying, smh
Ever After High also had books! That's actually how I got into the series, and there were a lot more smaller details about characters that couldn't get into the show but expanded upon the world Apple always wanting to follow her destiny because as a child, she fell down a well and that uncertainty about whether she would be rescued. Her fairytale may be dangerous, but she knows she is safe and happy in the end. Briar actually having like eight younger brothers (I'm not sure if that's ever mentioned), and when she does fall asleep, she has the power of being able to hear from very far away. Cerise's secret about her parents getting out and her almost being chased out of her village, so she had to compete in a race against her village. It was teams, villagers having to run a race while the wolves had to try stopping them and taking their baskets. Since Cerise was both, yet neither, she wasn't accepted on either team. So she had to win as both and a villager, winning the race and ending up with the most baskets. Headmaster Grimm signed Duchess Swan up for villain classes despite the fact she isn't technically not a villain in her story, she's someone who values her grades and standing, despite her destiny to be a swan forever. Because he knows that even if she doesn't like it, she'll succeed at being a villain to protect her grades, so he can use her to replace Raven Queen as the next Evil Queen. The reason Faybelle dislikes Raven is because the Evil Queen was actually the one to curse sleeping beauty, stealing the dark fairy's role from her in her story. Also why Faybelle sees the evil queen to be so evil and someone to be acknowledged by. Hell, there was a whole plotline in the books where everyone accidentally caused the Jabberwock to escape it's prison in a tiny glass unicorn in one book, and then the next book was the Jabberwock returning and causing chaos. Except that chaos activated Cedar's transformation magic, so unlike becoming objects or animals like everyone else (Apple became an apple, Raven became a raven, you get the idea) she became human. Hell, even the narrators became affected by the Jabberwock's magic and couldn't tell the story anymore, and if they stopped telling the story, it would end and they would all be trapped in this new Jabberwock worlds. So Maddie herself (along with Kitty) became narrators to keep the story going so they could defeat the Jabberwock There's so much that people don't realize how deep this show really goes.
This is SO for real, I looooved Ever After High and I miss it all the time. I’ve thought about making my own little like “reboot” fic or something because so many of the elements of the show stick with me. I know it was less popular than Monster High but, as a long time MH fan, I think EAH did so much more with their premise than MH did, at least in gen 1. Excellent video, made me go through Feelings again
I absolutely agree EAH beats MH for impeccable storytelling, and it’s crazy that it doesn’t get much recognition for that! You should totally write a fanfic, feel free to share the link here if you post it :)
i love how eah presents its story with such nuance. it doesn't try to paint the royals as bad guys, it emphasizes that there isn't anything inherently wrong with wanting to follow your destiny, it's just that people should be given a CHOICE to wether they want to or not. and it would've been so easy to make apple a generic privileged rich girl who forces raven to sign the book, but instead they actually gave her a REASON to why she's so insistent on her destiny becoming true, with her being taught her whole life that good things are coming to her and working so hard to deserve it and make her mom proud and meeting everyone's expectations, it makes sense why she's threatened at the possibility of it not happening. also in the books (which i totally recommend reading seen as they give much more insight into the characters) it's said that apple went through a horrible accident when she was a kid and almost died, and the knowledge that everything will work out for her is the thing that kept her going. the canonity of the books is dubious but still, i think that's such an interesting look into her. also the royals and rebels aren't always outright enemies, sure there's tensions and they argue sometimes but other times they're friends! like apple and raven are best friends and even though they disagree sometimes they still genuinely care about each other, and apple never wants to force raven to follow her destiny against her will but rather tries really hard to convince her. this turned into a rambly comic but i just love eah and i'll always be sad it got cancelled
EAH was based on the originals, as in the Grimm Brothers tales. Disney movies were a inspiration from the Grimm Brothers tales as well just less gory at times. So ig Disney didn’t “make” these tales, they just rewrote some stuff and brought it to the screens.
@@kasumiiitoyup, a big difference is the sleeping beauty story. Disney’s Aurora only slept for a few hours (at least i’m pretty sure that’s the case) but Briar literally had a whole character arc because she didn’t want to sleep for a hundred years like the original.
Disney's reign begin and ended with the Snow White Like damn that's poetic in a way I was charmed by Maleficient and Cinderella live action Beauty and the Beast , and Aladdin was ok... But I didn't feel anything phenomenal..it was good It just..I didn't feel like watching live action anymore cuz it's the same story Mulan and Snow White that was suppose to happen enraged me. I heard youtubers of what the stories were like They changed Mulan so much for the worse And the actress of Snow White...if she doesn't like her then why act as her?
@@fictionlover695 True, if Snow White's morals and messages go against the actress' so much, why play along? Greed? Fame? The writers or higher ups at Disney really lost the plot, because there's no magic, no soul, no humanity left in modern age and girls are expected to sympathize with overpowered tools of war, who face zero obstacles they'd need to go around creatively otherwise, how relatable. Either that or a quirky, clumsy cliché who knows better than anyone what needs to be done without deep pondering or accounting for repercussions. There is zero inside world and dilemma, no thought, struggle, ghosts of the past. They're born and raised perfect apparently. And only masculine traits of brute strength, stoic heartlessness and not backed by proof overconfidence is valued in female characters. That is so backwards. That's why live actions and Wish have been flopping left and right. And why Frozen and Moana still hold massive success. Moana actually had to learn things, struggle with "chosen one" identity (with a powerful song) and ultimately her compassionate view tamed the "monster". Elsa is a bit neurotic and struggles with finding acceptance of herself in outside and inside worlds. She has many doubts especially being viewed as monster or hurting others. These sort of self image stories where heroines overcome doubts via compassion for their community and especially family are relatable. Not the "hell yeah I am the most powerful girlboss ever, let me show up them old farts of yesteryear how much better I am as a newborn because experience and wisdom are worthless", who of us think like that?
Raven x Dexter and Mal x Ben feels like that meme. “ can i copy your homework?” “Ok, just dont make it obvious”. I mean, their colour palettes? Their dynamics?
That fits very perfectly. The only difference is that raven and dexter is actually interesting while mal and Ben is kinda boring and not well executed.
I REALLY hope that they bring back Ever After High, some day. The show alone has given me alot of Inspiration for my own series that I've been working on FOR YEARS in more ways than what anyone will ever know......
@@AngryPomeranian-z8y Sadly no, the series is not out yet, I have to learn how to animate first, which is what I'll hopefully be learning in college, next year. But I can tell you this, my series is a horror/ thriller with a mix of things like cults, the supernatural, cannibalism, human experimentation, politics, religion, and more. "How could a series like this possibility have anything to do with 'Ever After High'," you may ask? Well, it started out when I was a kid and my family and I were memebers of this small and independent Baptist church. You see, this church had some very questionable teachings and I've learned over the years that some of it's memebers were not exactly what they had made themselves appear to be. Anyway, around this time, my brother and I started watching 'Ever After High' together and at first it was just a show about about the children of fairy tale characters and that was all, but then it became so much more, especially when I hit the age of when I was having a spiritual crisis. In 'Ever After High', Raven is told that she has to follow her destiny, or else she would "poof". "Disappear". It didn't matter to anyone else if her destiny was terrible, it didn't matter that she would face an unfortunate demise, it didn't matter that she would've been forced to hate people that would've deeply cared about (including Apple White), it never mattered what Raven wanted. What mattered to not only Apple, but also to the adults around her is that she follows this dooming fate, no questions asked. Of course when she refuses to do this, she's manipulated by Apple and THEIR OWN PRINCIPLE (mainly their principle) into wanting to sign the story book of legends, their only justification (well, at least Apple's justification) is that "I care about you and I want nothing bad to happen to you or the others that I care about..." even when we as an audience have seen that Raven is completely fine when she chose to not follow the expectations that were given to her. Now, growing up in this small church of mine, we were tought to repent "give your heart to The Lord, or burn in the everlasting fires of Hell for all of eternity." It didn't matter of we were already good and loving people, it didn't matter how many positive deeds we've done for those in need. What mattered was that we followed "God's plan" which was the same for me and the other young kids that were in that church. For the boys, it was that they would grow up to be preachers, missionaries, Sunday school teachers, deacons, or literally anything that would serve a purpose to the church or " to God". Unfortunately for the girls (including me), we were only supposed to be the homemakers, the wives of these men and our only purpose was to be married to them, "submit to thy husband", and to pop their babies because "God said to be fruitful and multiply." The boys were destined to grow up and do great things, they were destined to be builders and leaders...... While we, the girls were destined to just be either their mother's or wives and that was our only purpose. I didn't want that, that wasn't my destiny and I had always wanted so much more. I wanted to be a creator, an artist, a storyteller. I wanted to reach out for the stars and eventually have my work be recognized by thousands, if not millions. I wanted to be a leader, I wanted to be a director. My mom was supportive of thus idea, my my stepdad? Not so much. It took me a while to get away from that church, especially when my stedad was alive and he was the one in charge of the household and what he said goes, it didn't matter what my mother said. When I started questioning my beliefs on if whether or not there was really a god or not, I was sent to this Christian camp where I had told them how I had felt and asked "what if the Bible isn't even true and some very random and creative person just used real people (like Jesus) and events and twisted it around, like putting in 'mircales' and such, just to 'prove' that there was a god?" The person that I had told this to said that if I was having those kind of thoughts, then I wasn't really a Christian and that I'd burn in Hell and that I should repent. Well anyway, I'm 19 now, 4 years of no longer being a Christian and no longer going to that church. But to cut the long story short, I feel as though that I was "The Raven", the Bible was my "storybook of Legands", the church was my "headmaster Grim," and my family was my "Apple White." Now, back to MY SERIES, it starts with my main characters finding out that the the community that they live under is actually a cannibalistic cult that benefits off of kidnapping outsiders for their own personal gain. The main protagonists escape in Part.1 and they try to do anything to bring down the cult for the rest of the series as they also have to face things like the good and evil spirits of loss loved ones, corrupt businessman, alternate dimensions that are all connected to the cult somehow. My personal life experiences and "Ever After High" has tought me alot on what manipulation looks like, which has become very helpful for me when trying to create good and impactful villains 👌🏼. Anyway, if you're interested to hear more exclusive details about my storylines, characters, and my creating process as a whole, I can give you my snapchat, but that's ONLY IF YOU'RE INTERESTED. P.S. I'm so sorry for the long paragraphs, I got excited and I just couldn't help myself.
To me personally i appreciated that the alt, emo girl had a nice sympethetyc personality. Many movies make goth girl evil due to the the easy connection, but i always liked the fact that raven was appreciated for her creativity and fashion sense.
I think Ever After High was a series that could have been carry by a well written show, but sadly ruined by both marketing by Mattel and competitors like Disney. Like the series was really only popular because of the web series, tackling some levels of new ons for a kids show. And while the show at the end of the day, still had your generic high school story and theme, the plot about the royals and rebels was so interesting and kept me, a male fan, invested for more. I think if the series was more picked up as a show and allow the plot to be more dark and narrative, I think Ever After High would have not only appealed to little girls, but may fans of many ages. Again, I think that this series was just ruined by the bad marketing from Mattel as Ever After’s branding shift into generic girl power to appease angry parents. Also Disney releasing Descendants, that not only came from a bigger name, but also was more of a financial success. So yeah, Ever After High may be dead to Mattel. But to fans, it would live on for through fan art and fanfics. I too want the series back, but if it means fans works in enough to do so, then I hope fans take that opportunity to bring this series back for a newer fans.
The books had a lot of edge to them if you like that sort of thing, the Shannon Hale books The Storybook of Legends, The Unfairest of Them All, A Wonderlandiful World, all of these went beyond the series into new places. It also took the time to let Raven and Apple bond before Legacy Day to see just how hurt Apple was after everything they had been through together and then had them working together to save their friend in the second book. Highly recommend them
A couple days ago I randomly remembered that EAH existed since I was trying to think of cosplay ideas and I remembered how much I loved it when I was little, i’m thinking of getting back into the fandom. :3 This video came on my recommended at the perfect timing 🤣
@@kattr00mgacha The Ever After High fandom is still thriving on Tiktok and tumblr! Cosplaying Ever After High is such a fun project(i’m working on an Apple White cosplay right now… embroidery is a pain in the BUTT man) but it’s so time consuming depending on who you pick!
ouh.. Ever After High! I wish that Disney didn't sue Mattel for this show because of Descendants,, I would have loved an ending! edit: comment blew up but i had heard misinformation. when writing this comment i was like 95% sure they sued because someone at mattel had taken the idea when they were still working together and had went along with EAH after disney warned them not to
They actually sued them!? 😭 I thought it was bc of competition since Disney is bigger and it would oversaturate the market that’s why they stopped What did they even sue for, descants came out later and the characters weren’t based on the Disney versions
@@brennaboltDisney and Mattel had actually begun working together for Descendants in 2012 there's even concept art available online but then Mattel went behind Disney's back to make EAH Darling dollz actually made a really good video about this situation called over explaining The Ever After High and Descendants feud
@@brennaboltAs far as we know, Disney didn't actually sue Mattel over this. But......TL;DR is that Mattel was the company who produced Disney Princess dolls. Then, they came out with Ever After High to be a sister brand to Monster High. Disney didn't like EAH existing so they told Mattel "You better stop" but Mattel didn't stop. So Disney stopped letting them produce Disney Princess dolls. Then, the murky part. Disney made Descendants to compete with EAH in retaliation. The reason this is murky is because there are Descendants concept art before EAH released. But.....I don't think that's evidence enough in my opinion. Anyway, Mattel's biggest money makers were Barbie and Disney Princess dolls. Without Disney Princess dolls and now a HUGE competitor to Ever After High coming out, Mattel stopped making EAH dolls. So while Mattel wasn't _sued,_ Disney had a big hand in the ending of EAH. Intentional or not is up for debate, but a majority of fans (including myself) believe it to be intentional.
There was so much that Disney could have done with the idea of a Fairytale Crossover to make this franchise stand apart from previous works that also went with it! Like, instead of having ALL the Disney characters exist at the exact same time and place, they could have existed on the same fictional continent but at different places and times so that all of their stories would have happened as they do in the animated movies. And instead of being their children, the protagonists could have been the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and distant relatives of SOME of them. I truly don’t think that Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella or Ursula would ever want to have children! Had it been only some of the Disney characters having distant relatives, it would have made more sense and they could have come up with an interesting story to explain why the descendants of specific Disney characters have been brought together at this magical school! A prophecy? A spell? A curse cast by Yen-Sid? The Evil Queen? Maleficent? Have they been brought here to undo something? Unleash something? Reminds me of the Grimrose Girls book series by Laura Pohl, which gets often compared to Descendants but is actually more comparable to Ever After High because of this idea of a fate that the characters can’t escape. It’s set in a boarding school, where the protagonists find out that they, as well as the rest of the students, are doomed to repeat the gruesome endings of various fairytales, like the ones who came before them and have to find a way to break the curse. Disney could have done something similar (not with the gruesome endings stuff but rather with the setting and idea of a curse)! Or they could have done something similar to Kingdom Hearts and have all these Disney characters exist in different universes and time periods but have some of their descendants be brought together to the dimension of Auradon for a specific reason! Doing all of this would have allowed for the Descendants franchise to stand apart from Ever After High, but instead they decided to be lazy and rip it off! They really needed to be more creative!
It also makes way more sense for Dexter to be meek and shy, because he's not the crown prince and he has Daring (and Darling) overshadowing him all the time. He's kind but he's not showstopping. Ben having that same look and disposition doesn't really work.
I loved the eah books for reall. I'm 18 I just finished the legacy book and honestly it gives so much depth into the eah characters that the descendants books couldn't.
@@BlackCupcake-s3c Yes! There are three main books, four if you count the fourth book which is a bunch of stories of what different character's last day of summer was like before their Legacy Year started. And then there are many off shoot books after that.
I have never watched Ever After High but i def am gonna have to watch it. When i watched Descendants i was stunned it was amazing. I feel ( and know from this video, thank u for informing me ❤) that watching Ever After High will give me the same and better effect
@@andreascarpato7003 Ever After High has MUCH better writing and personally I prefer the fashion as well. I also love the animation and styling, it's like 2D Monster High and is canonically in the same universe. Also it only got screwed over BECAUSE of Disney's Descendants, so I'm also a lil resentful of that NGL. Because Disney didn't want a competing brand from the same manufacturer despite the manufacturer coming up with their idea first AND all of the fairytales being free domain _(not their exclusive brand)._ ALSO low-key it comes off much more like edgy fanfiction to me than Ever After does, _despite it being the musical._ 💀 And I say that as an avid fanfiction enjoyer, it's just the writing. The songs low-key have slapped tho and the outfits aren't actually bad tho if I'm honest. Overall I think you'll enjoy Ever After if you liked Descendants and especially if you like Monster High too, I've seen ALL of them and I'd have to say Descendants is on the bottom of that list in terms of quality. 😅 _______________________________________ Edit: And btw for anyone want to know what makes the writing seem fanfictiony for me: It is how the OG Disney characters the kids "descend" from aren't ACTUALLY the OG Disney characters making it weird as a Disney franchise. And the writing is simplistic while the story feels a bit over complicated in certain ways, it just makes it feel dramatic _but in a corny way._ Like they go about the relationships in a simplistic way that lacks depth, but have weird set-ups and payoffs for that make it feel more complicated without any actually emotional complexity. Styling wise, I have no problem with the edge factor. But writing wise it DOES make it a bit more cringey and corny with how non-threatening everything feels rendering it to a more aesthetic choice than anything. The weird social commentary is just very hit or miss because they don't stick to it very well causing it to lack any bite. Like they had Beauty and the beast create a state ghetto where people known for abusing kids specifically and other criminal behaviors ALL raise their kids together because Eugenics...??? *But it's never treated like that, **_it's just treated a like goths vs preps._* 💀😭 It makes it hard to take seriously and outside of the cool merch and styling, it's just weirdly Wattpad IMO. 😅
I absolutely loved Ever After High. When I heard that it got cancelled because of Descendants I really felt conflicted because I loved them both so much. I remember logging in to the site at school on the computer and playing games while listening to the theme song over and over again.

Explination: In the speedpaint apple and raven are in positions that are traditionaly are supposed to be the otherway around for there roles ''The princess'' and ''The villain'' but there swiched to fit the ''Fairytale but with a twist'' For example raven is looking out the castle window with cute little bird next to her looking like princess the light fully illuminating her, makign her look like princess wishing for her happy ending with apple she's in the shadow in the background lurking litarally in raven doorway like an intruder a ''villain''
I'm so happy you paid attention to the art! I purposefully made Raven the focus of the painting, she's smiling gently and in the sun and looking off into the distance - which was meant to show how she feels now that's she has control over her future, while Apple is looking upset, lurking in the dark, because she isn't yet ready to move on and make her own destiny.
Ever After High has SUCH a chokehold on me god i love it! I’m working on some kind of fan reboot right now! I’m trying so hard to make it true to the original and it’s been such a fun process to work on the story, set and characters, this series is truly a masterpiece and it’s such a shame it ended on such a low- but I hope I can do it justice. I also know other people have worked on fanfic rewrites (GumJester with “Ever After High: Rewrite Ignite Restart” is such a beautiful masterpiece in the works!
I love Ever After High and I agree that Disney couldn't compete with descendants because the story is too safe and bland. However Disney can tell modern fairytales somewhat right because the first season of Once upon a time is an original genuinely good retelling of classic fairytales that never gets talked about.
Daring Charming as the Beast was the plot twist I never expected, there were so many clues leading up to it and I was dumb to put two and two together until Epic Winter. There were so many things I wanted the show to explore but I guess we won't be getting that now.
I think I relate more to the "rebellious" Side of it I am Chaotic good so- and yeah Your take is completely accurate to what I was thinking It's an underrated series I mean sure it's not perfect obviously They did pretty well :)
Honestly, when EAH was out, I was technically 'too old' for it since I was roughly around middle school when it came out. I remember saving money for a Cerise Hood doll. Now I am so glad that I got it right before the whole Disney issue. One of the very reasons why I love EAH is the story. Mainly the website ( I haven't gotten a chance to read the books), is that you have so many stories and it intermingles with other fairytales. Like Ashlynn's love of shoes or the O'Hair twins' birth order was switched - The little details from the original story and worldbuilding directly impacted the EAH characters.
I remember watching ever after high when I was 9, it was one of my favorite shows ever! I still watch it sometimes and it will always have a special place in my heart
this video is like a love letter to ever after high and an F you to descendants and disney and i love it. i will always miss ever after high, always sad about how it didnt get the chance to continue and end properly
High key, you started takling about the plot of Ever After High, and I started tearing up. I miss this show sooooo much, it was so good, it had so mych promise and the dolls were so beautiful
And you know what, both Royals and Rebels are justified with their choices. It is a battle of tradition and revolution. Of following a set path and making your own. Contesting the idea that evil is born rather than a choice. Raven inherited the Evil Queen's power but she refused to do evil, basically teaching the viewers that they don't have to inherit their parent's sins. It also showed the viewers that just because you will get a good life if you just keep your head down, it might not fulfill you. Considering the writers are married and possibly parents themselves, they have something that Disney lacked, a single question that Disney is no longer thinking; What values do I want my children to learn? I miss Ever After High. It is right there in story telling with MLP; FiM.
when I saw the rise of red is abit to rush like literally 👁👁 also kenny Ortega didn’t want to make the movie because they promised not to go back for the late actor Cameron Boyce..
this is the first video I've ever seen of yours and I just have to say how in absolute love I am of your art. I spent every second of this video being enamored with the way you made it with such clear love and affection. It felt like seeing art in a fairytale storybook. It was truly beautiful.
Something else to note is that in the descendants books it’s confirmed all of the isle’s goods come from the rest of the world’s garbage, every store is a secondhand store on the isle, even grocers.
Honestly, I stopped watching Ever After High because I thought I was too old for it when I hit Middle School (I was in an emo phase at the time, the most cringy time of my life.) But as I got older and watched Descendants, I realized that I only liked their songs and not the storyline itself. With EAH, I loved all of it. Designs, music, storyline, references, world building, artstyle. The whole package. I should get back on watching it again.
One of the things I absolutely hate about descendants is how mal and Ben’s relationship happened. Like Mal pretty much drugged Ben into dating her :/ and then in the third movie Audrey is portrayed as a stuck up jerk for bringing that up? (Altho I’m not an Audrey defender. Her and Chad’s relationship in the third movie was downright abusive, and she was absolutely the abuser)
Tbf ben loved mal since the moment he met her, ben was just playing along after the spell wore off in the enchanted look. It definitely still is wrong cause Ben basically cheated on Audrey and didn’t do a proper breakup, her feelings were completely disregarded and her villain arc was definitely justified
@@mysteriousdora6914even though he did like her, that doesn’t mean them actually getting together was consensual. I doubt that Ben would have actually broken up with Audrey for mal. But yeah, Audrey definitely deserved that apology and she deserved it sooner
@@DumbDolphin333 No he definitely would’ve, they treated Audrey like sht and Ben never seemed to care for her. Like said he still played along and didn’t call out Mal for cursing him after it was broken.
i remember being sick and getting sent home early around 1st-3rd grade and watching ever after high, it was honestly so nostalgic i remember watching it for like 2 hours straight (if it was that long i honestly don’t remember) but yea key childhood memory 😭
I love Ever After High so much, even the minor characters are so interesting and likeable, I remember when I was younger loving Meeshell a lot even though she has like one mini episode and I made a OC that was the daughter of the Sea Witch bc I loved her so much.
I have no idea if the queen of hearts being a baker is cannon or a common thing for Alice in wonderland stories, but the fact that Disney made "Bridget" a baker when heartless by Marissa Mayer has the same narrative makes me thing, ALLEGEDLY , they they are ripping off more than just EAH
There is a nursery rhyme about the kings and queens from playing cards. One verse had the Queen of Hearts baking tarts that was published before Alice in Wonderland was written. Lewis Carol implemented the poem in the last few chapters of the novel.
MH and EAH were my entire childhood. LPS and Barbie as well, but MH and EAH especially. Some of my best memories are of me and my cousins playing with MH and EAH dolls and making the crossover we never got but always dreamt of.
it;s crazy because disney did sophia the first which really blended the traditional fairytale with something modern kids could relate to. but they can't do it with their actual movies ?
the thing i loved the most about cerise hood was that she was amazing representation for those of mixed races!! as a mixed person of color myself, i've always struggled holding my two identities to myself, and cerise made me feel so seen 🥹
I read the book series first, I loved it growing up, there were chapters that were just maddie talking to the narrator and adventures and teamwork, it felt very different from the show despite the fact they were released around the same time, I actually liked Apple in the books because it actually discussed her fears surrounding the book of legacies and gave an example of what happens when you don't sign although I don't recall what truly happened to the sisters
Here I am watching a video about Ever After High when I heard you say "Baba Jaga" and the pronunciation sounded a little too familiar. I'm so happy there is someone from Poland that does such solid content. Thank you for your service 🙏 haha
Not only is this a fantastic video about how the Disney brand has suffocated the whimsy it was once known for (I’m saying this as a descendants fan btw but I feel like I’d love EEH if I were to sit down and watch it) But the speed paint in the background is so good???? I adore your process and the rendering is so gorgeous omgahhhh
The reason ever after worked is because the characters grew and challenged their identity in a way that wasn't crammed into a 90 minute movie plus it also it had moments where the secondary characters could shine.
You Speak The Truth This Shows More Results Why Ever After High Should Have A Good Comeback Seeing Gen 3 Monster High I find it sad / disappointed / displeasing So Monster High was Awesome as they were from Generation 1 If there’s any good chances we can Bring Back Ever After High I’d be opened on what we can a no d remember Ever After High’s slogan The End Is Just The Beginning Also if Ever After High were to Comeback in CGI Animation Designs like Gen 1 Monster High had but with Fresher Quality and the special effects would be more Enchanting
I might be in the minority on this, but I'd rather ever after high stay dead then ever get a revival, because they'll just make it woke and lame, as is the fate of so many franchises that happen these days.
@@theunknowncommenter725 sorry you and some fans see it that way but means other remaining EAH Fans will keep Ever After High Alive and with Real Good improvements that should take place
@theunknowncommenter725 Oh, it’s you again. How convenient. Not surprised that you’re one of those morons who feel the need to whine about “w-w-woke content!!!” in a series with a gay couple in it. That seems right up your alley.
I'm mixed on whether which is better: To continue or do a reboot, but I always remind myself that at the end of the day, it'll never be the same. They either make a reboot so the changed wouldn't be too different, but we left out a whole ending to the original. Or they could make a reboot, but the characters will probably written differently. Either way, I know the writers did their best.
The best part of both Descendants and EAH is the world’s most beautiful woman, which is supposed to be Sleeping Beauty, is a woman of colour. Aurora is Black in Descendants and Sleeping Beauty and Briar are Latina. I hope we continue to get more of that. I know it’s not important to the character but it’s important to like, BIPOC people. I wasn’t crazy about Way Too Wonderland or Epic Winter. But the rest of EAH was so good??
I remember even as a nine year old, I absolutely refused to watch Decendence because of what it did to ever after high. It was one of my very first hyperfixations and meant to much to me and my friends. Even now as a young adult I’m so upset that this show ended the way it did, and I’m hoping that some day Mattel will bring it back because of the success of Monster High g3. Whether or not they do remains to be seen, but I’m so happy that this show resonated with so many people, that all these years later I can continue to love ever after high and share that live with my friends, just as k did eleven years ago.
I also love the Legend of Shadow High crossover novel, where Brooke Paige summons basically Yog-Sogoth to throw hands with the Perfectionist from Courage the Cowardly Dog if she was also a Wordworld character. No, I’m not going to elaborate.
I just gotta take a moment to appreciate the music of EAH. Like the song that plays on the background of the scene where Raven sees what her destiny is, gosh i can't watch it without getting goosebumps
Ever after high will always be my favourite animated series, there's simply no way anythign could ever beat it. EVERY single character seems complete and colourful, unlike what diisney is now doing.. not only do all the eah characters have such good personalities but the DESIGNS OH MY GOD ADSUDHOA THEYRE TOO GOODD!!! also I've got all 3 songs in my playlist because you cannot tell me the songs aren't absolute bops.. btw I love your art its so pretty!
Copyright strikes have been abundant lately which is terrible for everyone and I'm so sorry this one was troublesome too but I am so grateful you made it and uploaded it again because it's a wonderful Deep Dive. I didn't grow up with Ever After High but I can see and tell that it was made with so much love and passion that the cult following it built in the short time it aired kept the story in their hearts and minds. When you get a taste of a good compelling sory, you don't forget! It raises your standards on what character depth and narrative conflict looks like. Also your art is so beautiful! I am a Rebel but maybe I'd be a bad one because if they tempted me to be a Royal I might be gullible enough to take it.
I loved how ever after high wasn't afraid to put their own twists and world building in display. It actually felt cohesive and it felt like EAH was just a window to the whole thing. Disney couldn't achieve this. You couldn't think of the in-world outside of the perspective they gave you - it didn't feel magical at all, not to mention how safe they played, making everything predictable and emotionless... I was a picky kid with shows and EAH was one of the only ones I had geniune hype for! I was so mad to find out we lost it for... whatever the hell Disney did. I'd kill to see it revived but knowing Disney, it won't happen. Such a shame. I can't believe we lost so many great shows for whatever Disney is creating now.
I cannot believe this show got cancelled. And idc If I'm a boy I absolutely loved this show so much meanwhile descendants just felt cheap next to it 😭 I really wanted it to continue
Monster High, Ever After High, and Bratz singlehandedly inspired my love for fashion illustration. And I wish EAH would cover more fairy tales. Like, what about Weaver Girl and the Cowherd? Princess and the Pea? There's Duchess, Justine, Humpty, and Jillian; characters of fairy tales that Disney hasn't even covered.
Great analysis! I first watched Ever After High when I was about 16/17, just out of curiosity (because the dolls were so pretty), and I was surprised how good it was. I thought it would be silly, but I was fully invested; and even at the age of 24, I still have my Bunny Blanc doll on display in my room (I got her for the fun, because I had a pet white rabbit, and I couldn’t resist owning at least one EAH doll 😂) ✨✨
i found ever after high as a kid through monster high, i was a hardcore fan of MH back then and when i saw the cross over between them with cupid????? i was SO SO SOOOOOOO EXCITEDDDDDDD and then i had an obsession with kitty and lizzie loll def one of the best animated series ive seen,
I loved ever after high! So when I rewatched ever after high a bit ago I went “oh maybe I should try descendants out since people talk about it and it’s similar looking!” Yeah no it was horrible. (Also this drawing is amazing!)

Not to mention that the fashion of Ever After High, like its sister-series Monster High, is S-tier fabulous!
It actually is connected to Monster high
Only 95% of the time, sometimes there were flops, but we can overlook them in an overview
Ever after high had every 5-8 year-old girl in a chokehold for a bit......Including me 💅✨

It really is a crime against humanity that they cancled monster high and ever after high for decedents
The writing was off and imo there was almost no points of conflict, and when there WERE, the main characters quickly got a solution for it (wether it was for themselves or a third party.)
As much as i loved descendants, to me it just seemed like a cheap cashgrab, and cancelling EAH was one of the biggest mistakes the stupid company has done.
What’s a crime is your spelling and grammar. Descendants was conceptualized years before EAH was a thing. Secondly, they didn’t cancel the franchise bc of Descendants, they canceled it because they had budget cuts.
@@neb.9489wasn’t there something about Disney getting heated over it?
@neb.9489
its just a comment lmao, no one gives two shits abt grammar and spelling.
They didn’t bc they had nothing to do with it. Mattel owned EAH; Habro is the toy company Disney works with.
@@aromaladyelliebut they did what are you even talking about Disney sued Mattel because of copyright violation of Disney characters even though they themselves stole all characters from the grimstale series but that’s beside the point
Unrelated but oh my god, Cheng Xiaoshi pfp!!
Right?? Instead of Chloe Charming which is so random 😂😂
yeah and i also connected the name to the german name for cinderella: Aschenputtel
I hear you and I’m with you
@@eleana4251 Not to mention that not all characters are princesses: Maddie, Cerise, Duchess, Sparrow, Humphrey, Cedar, Blondie, Cupid, Kitty, Alistair, Bunny, Hunter, Ramona, Farrah, Faybelle
while yes it is exluding, it also makes sense, little girls aren't really raised to see themselves as powerful and strong, well at least not most, while most guys grew up being told they are strong, it's the same reason barbie exist because girls weren't and still aren't at large told they can be strong if they want to
@@s__9939 idk it’s really a double edged sword with how guys are “taught that their strong” it’s really you MUST BE Strong.
Yet, that all went down the drain and he ended up dating Rosabella.
I feel like BOTH Belle AND beast drops the human rights ball right there. 😆
@@samikay626 Cinderella's Chad mum and Cinderella's Chole mum are two different versions of them.
I feel like they just took the characters by their names and not the whole characters yknow?
And, one of the books is a cross-over of EAH and Monster High!
@@cookitarebel9711 so real! like, do you guys WANT to be imprisoned by the Evil Queen's daughter if Raven follows her mother's footsteps???-
@@robinevergarden Raven: Supposed to be the pinacle of evil, a poweful tyrant hellbent on dominating all fairy tales (and maybe even succeed).
The royals: Ugh, why does Raven doesn't wanna follow her destiny???? So annoying, smh
Ever After High also had books! That's actually how I got into the series, and there were a lot more smaller details about characters that couldn't get into the show but expanded upon the world
Apple always wanting to follow her destiny because as a child, she fell down a well and that uncertainty about whether she would be rescued.
So Maddie herself (along with Kitty) became narrators to keep the story going so they could defeat the Jabberwock
There's so much that people don't realize how deep this show really goes.
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAD READ ALL THESE BOOKS :000000 you’ve brought up core memories here
I'm on a mission to collect all the books. So far I'm almost done.
The books are really good! I re-read mine to this day.

You should absolutely write a fic!
wriritng fanfiction is a great idea!
I absolutely agree EAH beats MH for impeccable storytelling, and it’s crazy that it doesn’t get much recognition for that! You should totally write a fanfic, feel free to share the link here if you post it :)
Drop the link if you do end up making it pls

i love how eah presents its story with such nuance. it doesn't try to paint the royals as bad guys, it emphasizes that there isn't anything inherently wrong with wanting to follow your destiny, it's just that people should be given a CHOICE to wether they want to or not. and it would've been so easy to make apple a generic privileged rich girl who forces raven to sign the book, but instead they actually gave her a REASON to why she's so insistent on her destiny becoming true, with her being taught her whole life that good things are coming to her and working so hard to deserve it and make her mom proud and meeting everyone's expectations, it makes sense why she's threatened at the possibility of it not happening.
also in the books (which i totally recommend reading seen as they give much more insight into the characters) it's said that apple went through a horrible accident when she was a kid and almost died, and the knowledge that everything will work out for her is the thing that kept her going. the canonity of the books is dubious but still, i think that's such an interesting look into her.
also the royals and rebels aren't always outright enemies, sure there's tensions and they argue sometimes but other times they're friends! like apple and raven are best friends and even though they disagree sometimes they still genuinely care about each other, and apple never wants to force raven to follow her destiny against her will but rather tries really hard to convince her.
this turned into a rambly comic but i just love eah and i'll always be sad it got cancelled
Its so funny how Ever After High can make a better story about princesses story and descendants more than Disney who made the Snow white💀
Disney's reign begin and ended with the Snow White
Like damn that's poetic in a way
I was charmed by Maleficient and Cinderella live action
Beauty and the Beast , and Aladdin was ok...
But I didn't feel anything phenomenal..it was good
It just..I didn't feel like watching live action anymore cuz it's the same story
Mulan and Snow White that was suppose to happen enraged me. I heard youtubers of what the stories were like
They changed Mulan so much for the worse
And the actress of Snow White...if she doesn't like her then why act as her?
It is exactly that
That fits very perfectly. The only difference is that raven and dexter is actually interesting while mal and Ben is kinda boring and not well executed.
Ben is so boring as a character.
@aouzayr24 I know Mal is so out his league
Mal did kinda magic her way into Ben loving her once
Meanwhile Dexter and Raven are actually connecting and having an interesting slow burn
I REALLY hope that they bring back Ever After High, some day. The show alone has given me alot of Inspiration for my own series that I've been working on FOR YEARS in more ways than what anyone will ever know......
Is the series out yet? What’s the name? It sounds like it’ll be good
@@AngryPomeranian-z8y Sadly no, the series is not out yet, I have to learn how to animate first, which is what I'll hopefully be learning in college, next year.
Also, Apple and Raven have given me some inspiration of what my main protagonists a hero to begin with.
It also depends on how old you are, because I don't want be telling the details to a 10 or 12 year old or something 💀
AT LEAST BE 18 OR OLDER
To me personally i appreciated that the alt, emo girl had a nice sympethetyc personality. Many movies make goth girl evil due to the the easy connection, but i always liked the fact that raven was appreciated for her creativity and fashion sense.
Raven has my heart forever .
Highly recommend them
Ever after high dolls were so well done, even the show you can tell everyone who worked on it loved the franchise just as much
A couple days ago I randomly remembered that EAH existed since I was trying to think of cosplay ideas and I remembered how much I loved it when I was little, i’m thinking of getting back into the fandom. :3
This video came on my recommended at the perfect timing 🤣
Same!! I've been looking at Ever After High cosplays on TikTok for inspiration, I'm thinking about cosplaying Maddie or Apple
@@AndroVWrites I'm wishing you luck! Apple is such a good pick.
ouh.. Ever After High! I wish that Disney didn't sue Mattel for this show because of Descendants,, I would have loved an ending!
edit: comment blew up but i had heard misinformation. when writing this comment i was like 95% sure they sued because someone at mattel had taken the idea when they were still working together and had went along with EAH after disney warned them not to
They did what now?
Disney did what?! ...Let me see the mouse. Bro, Descendants came out after Ever After High 😭
They actually sued them!? 😭 I thought it was bc of competition since Disney is bigger and it would oversaturate the market that’s why they stopped
What did they even sue for, descants came out later and the characters weren’t based on the Disney versions
Rip Lizzie Hearts, you would have let Red have it off with her head
What the heck is that name- like anyone can think of a better name than "Red" 💀
Loved Lizzie she was a savage, her voice acting is top notch.
Fun fact C.A Cupid was in monster high and then she transferred to Ever After.
i literally think about her so much i heart c. a. cupid
I love the author you mentioned. If you like that book, I suggest the last date. It’s by the same author.
When I first saw Descendants, I thought, "The Beast looks like an older version of Dexter".
Bruh they kinda look like eachother
Yea they do look alike except in my opinion Dexter is way better because his character and design is not as boring as Ben.
It also makes way more sense for Dexter to be meek and shy, because he's not the crown prince and he has Daring (and Darling) overshadowing him all the time. He's kind but he's not showstopping. Ben having that same look and disposition doesn't really work.
Also Dexter’s relationship with raven is better than mal and Ben because at least raven didn’t tried to put a spell on dexter like mal did
Yo I’ve been looking for a video like this explaining why ever after high is what descendants wishes it could be or something along those lines
i hope my take fit your expectations
This video and Athena P's video coming out on the same day is one thing, but within the same *hour* is something else!
and the video is on Descendants, i think we're twins or something
I loved the eah books for reall. I'm 18 I just finished the legacy book and honestly it gives so much depth into the eah characters that the descendants books couldn't.
My sister borrowed my Storybook of Legends book and my niece borrowed my Land of Stories book. I wonder what they'll tell me about them.
I love the books as well!
THERE ARE BOOKS?
@@BlackCupcake-s3c Yes! There are three main books, four if you count the fourth book which is a bunch of stories of what different character's last day of summer was like before their Legacy Year started. And then there are many off shoot books after that.
*I'm sorry, **_but this was ALWAYS better than descendants._* 💀
Don't be sorry. You're 100% right.
Because Disney didn't want a competing brand from the same manufacturer despite the manufacturer coming up with their idea first AND all of the fairytales being free domain _(not their exclusive brand)._
ALSO low-key it comes off much more like edgy fanfiction to me than Ever After does, _despite it being the musical._ 💀
And I say that as an avid fanfiction enjoyer, it's just the writing.
_______________________________________
Edit: And btw for anyone want to know what makes the writing seem fanfictiony for me:
It is how the OG Disney characters the kids "descend" from aren't ACTUALLY the OG Disney characters making it weird as a Disney franchise.
And the writing is simplistic while the story feels a bit over complicated in certain ways, it just makes it feel dramatic _but in a corny way._
Like they go about the relationships in a simplistic way that lacks depth, but have weird set-ups and payoffs for that make it feel more complicated without any actually emotional complexity.
*But it's never treated like that, **_it's just treated a like goths vs preps._* 💀😭
It makes it hard to take seriously and outside of the cool merch and styling, it's just weirdly Wattpad IMO. 😅
I absolutely loved Ever After High. When I heard that it got cancelled because of Descendants I really felt conflicted because I loved them both so much. I remember logging in to the site at school on the computer and playing games while listening to the theme song over and over again.
That shot of raven trapped inside the mirror woke that bisexuality in me as a kid 😭
Same
Raven actually has those queer crush vibes. Many girls do have that vibe.
@@leaczinkota1979Isn’t Apple White lesbian?
Is no-one going to menstion that her speedpaint also fits here did anyone notice this except me?'
Explination:
In the speedpaint apple and raven are in positions that are traditionaly are supposed to be the otherway around for there roles ''The princess'' and ''The villain'' but there swiched to fit the ''Fairytale but with a twist''
For example raven is looking out the castle window with cute little bird next to her looking like princess the light fully illuminating her, makign her look like princess wishing for her happy ending
with apple she's in the shadow in the background lurking litarally in raven doorway like an intruder a ''villain''
@@juno_moth Oh thanks what do you think of my explination does it fit?
Ever After High has SUCH a chokehold on me god i love it! I’m working on some kind of fan reboot right now! I’m trying so hard to make it true to the original and it’s been such a fun process to work on the story, set and characters, this series is truly a masterpiece and it’s such a shame it ended on such a low- but I hope I can do it justice.
I also know other people have worked on fanfic rewrites (GumJester with “Ever After High: Rewrite Ignite Restart” is such a beautiful masterpiece in the works!
“🎶Whether you’re Royal or Rebel 🎶”
Can’t believe what that took from us😭😭😭 I want EAH back
I love Ever After High and I agree that Disney couldn't compete with descendants because the story is too safe and bland.
However Disney can tell modern fairytales somewhat right because the first season of Once upon a time is an original genuinely good retelling of classic fairytales that never gets talked about.
I like how she calls Cerise Hood "Cerise Wolf", fits her perfectly yes
yeah i only realised once editing that that'a not her name lol
Daring Charming as the Beast was the plot twist I never expected, there were so many clues leading up to it and I was dumb to put two and two together until Epic Winter. There were so many things I wanted the show to explore but I guess we won't be getting that now.
I miss ever after high sm, the aesthetics went insane. It was like a soft core version of monster high. I genuinely wish they had more / full episodes
we did NOT need a Moana 2 or zootopia 2. part of what made them special was how they were only one off movies.
You should read the books!
You're never too old for Ever After High!
@aouzayr24 indeed😔
this is the first video I've ever seen of yours and I just have to say how in absolute love I am of your art. I spent every second of this video being enamored with the way you made it with such clear love and affection. It felt like seeing art in a fairytale storybook. It was truly beautiful.
oh my god, thank you so much for such a sweet comment, i'm really happy you liked my art, i do always put my entire heart into my work
Something else to note is that in the descendants books it’s confirmed all of the isle’s goods come from the rest of the world’s garbage, every store is a secondhand store on the isle, even grocers.
I love EAH, I've been rewatching it recently and I'm so happy you made this video!
I'm so glad!
"Beating a very dead horse, with a broken stick."
I love that so much haha
Honestly, I stopped watching Ever After High because I thought I was too old for it when I hit Middle School (I was in an emo phase at the time, the most cringy time of my life.) But as I got older and watched Descendants, I realized that I only liked their songs and not the storyline itself. With EAH, I loved all of it. Designs, music, storyline, references, world building, artstyle. The whole package. I should get back on watching it again.
the fact that the next movie would be a crossover between Ever After and Monster High is a hole in my soul that will never heal
disney could never be this bold
I’d love a revival of this show, it never get the real ending it deserved (and bring the of writing team back)
I love Ever After High so much, even the minor characters are so interesting and likeable, I remember when I was younger loving Meeshell a lot even though she has like one mini episode and I made a OC that was the daughter of the Sea Witch bc I loved her so much.
I love the art so much, I think that dove might just be the cutest thing I've ever seen😭
it;s crazy because disney did sophia the first which really blended the traditional fairytale with something modern kids could relate to. but they can't do it with their actual movies ?
This is making me cry 😭 Ever after high helped me so much in my creative journey
19:07… this whole section is so true😭😭😭 I hate this so much… Ever After High being canceled because of Disney HURTS.
the thing i loved the most about cerise hood was that she was amazing representation for those of mixed races!! as a mixed person of color myself, i've always struggled holding my two identities to myself, and cerise made me feel so seen 🥹
Ooh, I loved this show!❤
Here I am watching a video about Ever After High when I heard you say "Baba Jaga" and the pronunciation sounded a little too familiar. I'm so happy there is someone from Poland that does such solid content. Thank you for your service 🙏 haha
Haha, cieszę się, że Ci się podobało
Not only is this a fantastic video about how the Disney brand has suffocated the whimsy it was once known for (I’m saying this as a descendants fan btw but I feel like I’d love EEH if I were to sit down and watch it) But the speed paint in the background is so good???? I adore your process and the rendering is so gorgeous omgahhhh
As Both a Descendants fan and an Ever After High fan, I was a little nervous you’d unfairly go after descendants, but I was wrong, and I thank you.
The reason ever after worked is because the characters grew and challenged their identity in a way that wasn't crammed into a 90 minute movie plus it also it had moments where the secondary characters could shine.
…the intro of this thing made me feel so old. THIS THING WAS MADE OVER A DECADE AGO? WTF I REMEMBER WATCHING IT AS A KID 😭

Ever After High I’d be opened on what we can
a no d remember Ever After High’s slogan
The End Is Just The Beginning
Also if Ever After High were to Comeback
in CGI Animation Designs like Gen 1 Monster High had
but with Fresher Quality and the special effects would
be more Enchanting
I might be in the minority on this, but I'd rather ever after high stay dead then ever get a revival, because they'll just make it woke and lame, as is the fate of so many franchises that happen these days.
@@theunknowncommenter725 sorry you and some fans see it that way but means other remaining EAH Fans will keep
Ever After High Alive and with Real Good improvements that should take place
@theunknowncommenter725 Oh, it’s you again. How convenient.
Not surprised that you’re one of those morons who feel the need to whine about “w-w-woke content!!!” in a series with a gay couple in it. That seems right up your alley.
I'm mixed on whether which is better: To continue or do a reboot, but I always remind myself that at the end of the day, it'll never be the same. They either make a reboot so the changed wouldn't be too different, but we left out a whole ending to the original. Or they could make a reboot, but the characters will probably written differently.
Either way, I know the writers did their best.
I have no idea who this man is, but I’m hooked, watched ever after high, calls themself a mothman?? I’m sold.
Whether or not they do remains to be seen, but I’m so happy that this show resonated with so many people, that all these years later I can continue to love ever after high and share that live with my friends, just as k did eleven years ago.
the music is incredible, anddd... *ad break* what comedic timing
The music in this show is just *ON* point too
I have never seen an animation so artistic, so detailed, so fascinating, so astounding and just simply magically excellent!
Love it!💜
I love Ever After High!!! I wish we could have More of this show!!!
I'm now making Ever after high redesigns I'm working on Maddie, this show inspired me as an artist just like you, we love you Ever after high!👑🍎
Descendants is the TEMU version of Ever After High
I will never forget Disney for doing that:(
EAH was my childhood 😔
I cannot believe this show got cancelled. And idc If I'm a boy I absolutely loved this show so much meanwhile descendants just felt cheap next to it 😭 I really wanted it to continue
Don't ask me how many times i have watched this. truly wonderful
I thought it would be silly, but I was fully invested; and even at the age of 24, I still have my Bunny Blanc doll on display in my room (I got her for the fun, because I had a pet white rabbit, and I couldn’t resist owning at least one EAH doll 😂) ✨✨
i found ever after high as a kid through monster high, i was a hardcore fan of MH back then and when i saw the cross over between them with cupid????? i was SO SO SOOOOOOO EXCITEDDDDDDD and then i had an obsession with kitty and lizzie loll
def one of the best animated series ive seen,
A great ship on board
Ever After High is one of my all time favorite things of all time. It's the Nana of children shows.
I loved ever after high! So when I rewatched ever after high a bit ago I went “oh maybe I should try descendants out since people talk about it and it’s similar looking!” Yeah no it was horrible. (Also this drawing is amazing!)
SO TRUE WHEN I WATCHED THE NEW DESCENDANTS THERE WAS A LOT OF THINGS THAT THEY TALKED ABOUT THAT WERE IN PAST MOVIES THAT EVER AFTER HIGH MADE
i cry and beg everyday that they revive ever after high and NOT screw it up like decendants 😭😭😭
OMG I LOVE the toreador music at the end 😂
It fits SOO well to the message 😮
