Here's a lot of comments already 😂😂
I was wholly prepared for francis to become paste, but no, just a gentle two-fingered bonk. What a wholesome “horror” game.
ye! in the show shes actually benevolent!

HE DID IT! HE SAID THE GAME WAS INNOCENT AND IT ACTUALLY WAS!
We're so used to manly bamboozling us that when a game is actually innocent, it bamboozled us yet again
Hell has frozen over it seems...
omg fr
@littlecherryartist he also thought it wasnt and then thought oh he died but no he didnt actually think he died ig
Honestly i was half expecting gabby to be a demon hare and get bonked hard
It was a stroke of genius that the letters that you clearly would think of spelling "TEACHER" with were locked into the far more ominous "CHEATER". And it genuinely surprised me that there truly was no horror behind the buildup!
But if you spell TEACHER something different happens or it's the same?
Thanks! XD The teacher-cheater thing was my idea. :3 When I thought of it, I was like YES. (I'm the programmer.)
@@scyllagrand Wow! Can you please tell us if there is a difference if someone types TEACHER or CHEATER or of it's the same?
Spoiler:
Like @andrewramlall3560 said, it's locked into the word cheater. I found it interesting how even if you try to go to another area, it directs you to the "next" area. Similar thing going on with the lilypad spelling.

Thats what i thought it was to
You know, this not devolving into a super duper omega horror analog scary face thing is refreshing. this is just cute lil standalone thing
It actually IS a part of a series. It's a surprising one though, in that avoids the usual tropes.
the series it is based on is actually similarly refreshing in a way. while it has its fair share of dark implications and tense/uncomfortable moments some of them kinda only happen if you go into it with prior experience with analog horror n such.
(mild spoilers)
it plays with your expectations to then focus on telling an emotionally impactful story of a bond between a child and his guardian angel
Yeah all the glitchy distorted faces and loud jumpscare gimmicks had to get old some time
It’s actually really good suspense. You think it’s going to develop into horror but no it never does.
it's not scary and more like little unnerving, with little details n stuff
This really does have the vibe of those old computer games.
Could have used with a filter to give it that crunchy, super compressed voice recording from back then. Hm, although, maybe the devs tried that and were like, "Oh hell no. We don't want to torture the player. Some things are better left dead and buried."
Starfall that old children website?!
Yea
@@sakai_sukistudios4157 OMG DUDE I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERED USING THAT SITE IN ELEMENTARY!!
Yeah
If you showed me a long-play of this without context I'd just assume it was a real Christian edutainment game from the 90s because it captures the style and feel of old low-budget CD-Rom games so spot on
holy COW what a flattering thing to see! Thanks for playing the game!! It was tough making the game alongside our ongoing second season of the show, but it's so incredibly cool watching someone play it!
I must’ve just seen this video as soon as you have but yeah this game looks cool!
I love the vibe of the game, very cool
You did a good job.
The song when you first meet Francis is really good, is there any place you store tracks online for people to listen to separately? I would love a song or two in one of my personal playlists
was nice troll making something simple n wholesome like that, good job!
what's funny about this game is that it starts with a lot of content found in nowadays "haunted games" (already defined name, weird and unexpected stuff happening, making creepy words, religious symbols and a moment where a cute character seems to be about to do something freaky), but actually, nothing horrible happens. This game does the opposite of haunted games, instead of hiding horror behind wholesomeness, it hides wholesomeness behind horror, this is actually a very clever scenaristic concept, to the creator of the game, good job!
The premise behind the series is that it’s a take on the “mysterious tv entity analog horror” where the entity *itself* is completely benevolent
@@runeanonymous9760 I've seen the original series, recently and I can tell that the same spirit can be seen in both the game and the videos. I've never seen a such wholesome analog horror series, actually, I didn't know we could make horror that is truly cute.
It’s how the ARG series on RUclips is. It starts out as this creepypasta horror like concept but it grows into something completely different yet still interesting. I definitely recommend watching the web series!
@@PatchworkRose567 I just said that I've been watching the series and I agree, it's a very original concept!
@@runeanonymous9760 I think I would say "Realistic" Analog Horror bcuz it's not the game being cursed, it's our mind playing with our fears.
I would like to imagine someone actually named Jonah playing this for the first time and getting freaked out.
I've not heard of Angel Hare before this, I'll have to look into it. I honestly love that bait and switch. I've seen so much horror at this point, I was fully prepared for this to become a bloodbath at any moment. I like that it maintained a slight air of unsettling, the feeling that things are just nearly as they should be but you know it's not perfect. They absolutely nailed a proper edutainment feel too, I'm reminded of some very early childhood memories in computer class.
Yeah, the web series is good. Not actually terror inducing, its just wholesome for the most part
I would say you could even compare this game with Super Mario 64, except being its fangames and personalized copy videos of Wario Apparition and other creepy stuff.
Yeah, I agree Angel Hare's Learning Adventure is not a "horror" game that we expect but I think it does its job very well and different from most analog/digital horror games/videos we are used to.
I was expecting one of those cursed games, but the true horror, is in how wholesome it is
The true horror is the r34 content for Angel Gabby
The true horror is religious trauma
@@The_Totes_Adorbswait, that's a thing? Actually nvm I don't want to know
@@CeaselessWatcher5818 My trauma usually comes from entertainment painting anyone with the same religion as me as conmen or lunatics.
@@XX-sp3tt You mean how everyone tries to make Christians look stupid? Yeah. It's pretty offensive. It's also pretty depressing after you see it happen over and over again...
They really nailed the voice acting, it genuinely sounds exactly like those old edutainment game's narrator, in terms of cadence and also just how it literally sounds.
I read a bit on the Angel Hare webseries (planning to watch it in full later). Short synopsis: Angel Hare was a generic edutainment program, but the version Jonah watched was altered by "his" Gabby to address Jonah's home life and try to help him.
So I wondered what was "altered" about this game. Normally, the demon hares would probably be a functioning whack-a-mole minigame. But here, the story is changed so that a friend tells Jonah to do something and to keep it their little secret. Jonah feels guilty and ashamed about it ("CHEATER"). Gabby says "I understand why you're lying to protect him, but we need to confront this situation."
oh.
Oh no.
Considering the story hidden behind it of what was happening when he was younger. Very big oh no. If you think of him lying about something being him lying about his situation at home instead.
i dont get it
@Gizeh59 the implication is that Jonah may have been groomed
Also, Zag was literally giving you a sign that you cheated and the angels know.
I'm honestly sad the story wasn't longer. The setting and Gabby were so charming I wanted to see more.
head over to The East Patch and you can
• Remembering "Angel Hare"
gabby so hot
The game is just a spinoff of a mini series on the east patch channel, which is extremely wholesome. Though i recommend taking a break before watching the easter episode and every episode that comes after, as while they explore and deepen the same themes, they have very different feelings and ambiances to them
I'm a voice actor in the second season of the show for this game and HOLY SHIT, I CANNOT EXPLAIN THE JOY I FELT WHEN I FOUND OUT YOU PLAYED IT. It has honestly made my week!
I love your videos, keep being awesome 💙
Wow, that's awesome!
That's cool
AND youre a persona fan? Wild. Good taste.

Speaking of rabbits, remember when you played the demo for The Bunny Graveyard? Well, the first chapter came out recently and I think you should play it. If you liked it then you’ll love it now.
I just can't get bored of this guy's content. I'd finished watching a video published 5 years ago and, now that I watch this one, I can say that he kept the same great quality and charming personality
I also love the community of this channel. Whoever you are (reader of this comment) I wish you well

I did not expect the wholesome bonk. I thought he was just going to be slaughtered.
I ended up going through the web series this is based on and now I'm **wholly invested**. Came back around to say thank you for making me aware! \o/
I'm not just wholly invested, I also ugly cried for the first time in a long while after literally relating to it, 10/10
i got so invested after watching the series that i even bought one of the francis bobbleheads
That was a very cute game. They really did nail the old timey edutainment game feel. Like manly i felt a nice sort relaxed nostalgia, with how the audio was and such. It did a good job of building up the "this could be a horror game" feeling. But im glad all it was, was just a lil bonk and lesson learned. I wouldnt call it wholesome horror, since im sure you would need something thats horrifying in a sense to be horror. I would call it like faux horror or something.
I watched the full series before playing that game and I still thought it was going to be a bloodbath at the end anyway lmao. This webseries is a genius bait n switch.
angel hare is one of if not my favorite webseries/analog horror series EVER and i cannot tell you how loud i gasped when i saw this in my feed!!! if youre reading this and this game intrigued you in any way, PLEASE DO watch angel hare if you can!
Oh my gosh, you're too kind ;u; what high praise!
This was actually an innocent game, it gave good advice honestly, I thought it would be like straight up horror.
Gabby has to be the cutest, most adorkable, and likeable character I've seen in any ARG series. Always good to see more of her
This was such a fun game to work on with the folks at The East Patch! So happy to see it being played!
Also watch Angel Hare. It's so gooood!
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was very refreshing that it was actually just a sweet little experience. Francis is so cute
Oh that's so wholesome! I love how this went. The WebSeries is fantastic with its spin on this analog horror stuff. I can get really behind "wholesome horror".
"There is so much to do!"
*Sees the playtime is about 14 minutes*
Darn angel has been lying from the start!
shes not a ler she just doesn't want to see you unhappy.
@@brianeagan8628 well neither did Francis but we see how that went
After just finishing your playthrough of Parasite Flower, this was a much needed change of pace.
For those that want to see more, the channel is The East Patch. It’s a different take on analog horror.
If you like subverted expectations like in this game, then the series might be up your alley.
Thank you
It's not just a kid's edutainment game, it's a *Christian* kid's edutainment game! Gasp

This was surprisingly wholesome! And you unlocked a memory when you brought up Creatures! That is such an old game, and I played it quite a lot as a kid. This was a sweet watch!
The Genre Editor was the first thing I purchased online! I was obsessed with that game. I downloaded so many player created items from the various fan sites. I guess Creatures is the technically the first game I modded, and I haven't stopped since. Well, downloading them that is. I have absolutely no knowledge to make my own.
This style reminds me a lot of the jumpstart games! They really nailed the whole “old pc game” vibe
Man I didn't expect this game to be so brutal. Poor Francis.
I know. This isn't teaching kids good morals. It's making them scared to scared misbehave. That's fear.
@@godzillavkk
I actually quite like it, it's indeed creepy, even for a christian like me. This game kinda scares kids to behave, even for a little mistake or something made them not able to do it - they will suffer consequences for their actions.
I found this pretty discouraging and abusive, even for a christian educational game. I thought Francis' cheating wasn't a big deal, he was scared of the demon hares and Gabby could help him overcome his fears but instead she scolds him for cheating. That's how what I understand to interpret this game after reading your main comment.
@@CannoliSlugYTit was a simple bonk... Personally I don't believe in penance over reparations, but this isn't an unreasonable punishment for the crime. Though it would have made more sense for the player to bonk him because they were the one cheated out of getting to bonk demons.
@@theflyingspaget oh ok

Me too.i got obsessed with this series today and when I first heard of this,I tought this was a 4th wall breaking analog horror series about missing kids or something.Turns out it is SOO GOOD OH MY GAWD!!!!!
I'm glad Angel Hare is getting her place in the spotlight. I think it's one of the most unique analog horror series I've seen so far, and it deserves some more love!
Yeah and instead of "ANALOG HORROR MASCCOT KILLLS ANOTHERRHUR KIDDDDDDD OHHHH MAWWHWHWH GODDDDD!!!!!" Or something else,it mixes dark topics with wholesomeness.i give it a 10/10.
This is really representative of the series too. Because you expect it to get scary, but then it just becomes really sweet.
I don't know why, but it's absolutely hilarious to me that I've just sat down and watched a grown man play an education game, and was wincing wondering just when the horror would kick in.
Love the content Manly! Keep it up ^w^
We all got our expectations subverted, didn’t we?
The voice acting was something I wasn't prepared for, it's absolutely phenomenal. Sounds exactly like what these games did. Also the midi(?) sounding soundtrack. This is super good.
Yeah, the music and voice acting are REALLY good.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the phenomenal voice work by the lead actress? Her tone and voice just exude genuine warmth and kindness, like she's talking directly to your inner child as opposed to just faking a friendly voice. She reminds me so much of Steve from Blue's Clues. Beautiful voice work.
Angel gabby: *looking like shes about to kill francis* "this is for your own good, francis"
also angel gabby: *very light comedic bonk* "i hope thats a valuable lesson for you both"
manly: francis has been murdered. Hes dead.
I’m pleasantly surprised this wasn’t straight up a horror game. It’s spooky not gonna lie and I like that it creeps you out a bit until the very end.
I also like how much it resembles an actual game a Christian would make too.
OH I ACTUALLY KNOW THE SERIES THIS IS BASED ON! It's so cool to see more of it! I heard of it *after* it had finished, so I zoomed through the episodes, and that caused it to seem very short, so I appreciate the extra content. It was a cool series with a very sweet ending, and the tension was very natural.
I could swear Francis was being voiced by Flaw Peacock. He uses this particular voice in his deep dive series of Faith: The Unholy Trinity when voicing Gary Miller's letters and dialogue. "And remember, Gary loves you."
I like the art style and how it's not the stereotypic spoopypasta type
The real horror was me thinking all the time "she's so wholesome, please don't let something bad happen to her"
Glad that this has finally got the attention it deserves
Manly and Angel Hare? This is a good day.
Um, when the mallet goes over Francis in the 'minigame' portion, his sprite briefly changes. I didn't watch past the credits, so idk if you answered whether you tried bonking him yourself, but if you haven't why don't you try?
He did say "the demon rabbits aren't as obvious as rabbits with horns" after all ;)
I remember watching the original analog horror of this. Neat series very underrated
The thing I love about this series, is that it never turned out evil, no one turned out evil, Angel Gabby was just there for Jonah.
I know this is kinda weird to point out and I know it was probably only done for the sake of sticking with the original Biblical spelling, but can I just say how very refreshing it is to see someone actually acknowledge that Gabriel is a unisex name instead of feeling the need to force a tacky "elle/ella" at the end just because the character is a girl? Maybe I'm biased because I have the same name and have dealt with people (both accidentally and intentionally) misgendering me or spelling my name wrong my whole life, but it's just nice to see another female Gabriel for once lmao
Sorry for doing this late reply but.
Here where i live, we ad ela to the femini versions of male names, like gabriela.
I remember the VHS videos of this! I'm so glad more content was made of Angel Hare :)
I was fearing the worst, knowing how so many modern horror stories like to start with a false sense of security and childlike innocence before suddenly shifting to jumpscares and devil worship, so that twist at the end took me by surprise and motivated me to look up more about the source. And while I'm not religious, I think our world could really use more of this kind of "Wholesome Horror" where the unfathomable beings we can barely comprehend are looking out for us, and the true terror comes from the everyday trauma they're protecting us from.
This is exactly how I felt about Angel Hare, you put it so well in a way I couldn't pin down. It's like the inverse of cosmic horror that way, and I'd also love to see more like it.
The voice acter did a great job
U know, the game is so innocent cuz the original series was innocent too, but it doesnt make it worse!
I adore this game, truly represents the vibes of the series
While this is probably not my thing, I love how well made it is and how it really makes you feel like your playing an edutainment game down to even having a part where you have to sign your name. As someone who really loved edutainment games when I was a kid to now, this was a treat to take in! 💕🌸
Good work to them, I hope they make even more amazing work! Glad that more people will hopefully get to enjoy it!
Honestly the fact it doesn't go full blown horror kinda disturbs me more. It feels like the game is hiding something more.
Okay, gonna rewatch this after falling down the rabbit hole of *both* The East and West Patch channels and recapping myself, and needless to say, I have the feeling I'll see this all in a much different light now. Thanks, Manly, for introducing these guys to me!
5:20 i love that ear piercing ding, you know everyone loves that ear piercing ding
Finally Angel Hare is becoming more popular!
Wonder if Manly grew up with the Jump Start games like I did.
Those and the Cap’n Crunch CD game were my childhood!
thanks for introducing me to this webseries! it's a really refreshing take on analog stuff.
The song, the opening soundtrack nearly made me cry
Then I went to check out the Web series, and now I wont stop bawling

How can this be?
This came so far out the left field even the demon hares got lost.
“Look how much you’ve grown”. It hurts so much to think that’s what she wanted the most. For Jonah to grow. To have the chance to.
Right? 🥲
Angel Hare is to haunted media. What My Friendly Neighborhood is to the monster animatronics.
Oh cool, heard about this series a while back, more wholesome horror than anything but its well worth the effort put in. This game reminds me more of the old "learning House" edutainment series (Sheila Rae the Brave, Harry's Haunted House, etc..) in its style so they nailed that part down.
Huh, and my whole life I thought FNAF was an education game of not going into the dark
I love the take they have on Archangel Gabriel; she's usually portrayed as a male (for obvious reasons) But in the bible, she's referenced as she/her
8:55 You earned it fair and square. Francis was the one that changed the game lol
Honestly this was just really calming and pleasant.
Wow, great to see a big youtuber I follow shine some light on this little series!
I just finished watching the video series after watching the play through. OMG, it makes sense after you watch it. And the series is currently ongoing
OH! I know this unfiction series! It’s one of my favorites because of how comforting it is
"horror game" is actually just a wholesome Christian ethics morality play.
I know it wouldn't work for the gimmick, but I genuinely would like more of these edutainment games that are subtly touching on topics real edutainment games would never tackle, but also still never completely breaking out of the final limits of the genre.
I’m one of the rare folks coming to this after watching the series, it’s like a big warm hug. It’s funny to see the apprehension about the game taking a turn 😂
They captured the feel of these old games so perfectly, well done
petition to start calling him Jonah from now on
I absolutely love the Angel Hare web series. It's SO good. The production is great, the story is FANTASTIC, and it's just incredibly well put together. It definitely is more wholesome than horror but it shows that not everything dark and serious has to, as Manly put it, be a bloodbath. I highly recommend it for anyone who has a lot of nostalgia for those learning games.
To keep it short: I also have a LOT of religious trauma and there were some bits that kinda set that off but by the end the story had such good payoff that I didn't mind some of the more religious connotations so if that puts anyone off in the beginning I'd suggest trying to get around that.
Manly: *Says that daniel mcmulliuns makes games with wholesome endings*
Me: *Points at inscryption crying*
Manly thank you man. I love Angel Hare and this was a total surprise.
If you havent please watch the Angel Hare series!
I'm down to seeing more games like this. "Horror" games that likely spooks children more than adults. Honestly if I was a kid and saw that Francis about to get punished that would freak me out a bit. Because when I was a kid getting into trouble was scary enough.
I still remember playing one of the Casper edutainment games multiple times, that one stuck in my mind. The one that still comes back to me often, I don't remember the name of it, but I remember it was about playing various minigames in order to collect parts to rebuild a rocket ship on an alien planet (or maybe a moon or asteroid), not sure if it was edutainment or just a children's game.
Thanks for the nostalgia trip, JonahBadassCheater!
Sounds like Putt Putt goes to the Moon? Similar plots, at least
@@speedydoggo Not quite, I did come across that in my search though.
The game I'm thinking of had a couple of pretty sweet 3D-rendered cutscenes if I remember correctly.
I remember seeing it on one of the retro archive channels on youtube and I had it saved, but I can't find it in my favorites playlists since I don't remember what the title of the video contained.
Now that I've caught up on the series this is based on, I will say that the presence of Zag here is a little unnerving? He's, to put it as unspoilery as possible, not native to Angel Hare's world, so the fact that he can migrate to other (in-universe) Angel Hare merchandise... how deep does this literal and metaphorical rabbit hole go?
That was the friendliest Horror Game i ever saw at you Channel
Holy shit I loved this ARG, I can't believe it's a game now.
OMFG i just watched this horror analog series and really got into it then just found out you made a video on the game wow
I love how it seems like your building up to something horrible happening and then its just a cartoon bonk on the head.
THEY MADE IT A GAME??? WOOOW
Omg the music and the graphics! As someone who played quite a number of computer edutainment games, this was quite nostalgic!
For some reason I’m reminded of all dogs go to heaven?
