There's a saying that a drunk man's words are a sober one's thoughts. Often when your inhibitions are lowered you tend to cut loose and externalize things that you can better internalize while sober. Henry resents people and finds them annoying, but he can't say no or tell others off at work. Deep down, he wants to be dominant, to scare others so they'll stop bothering him. Lisa is stressed and takes it out on herself, she tries to keep it together but she puts herself under too much pressure and this externalizes as her pulling her own hair out. Marcus is probably very depressed inside, he tries to put on a good front so others won't worry or think he's a downer, but he has a lot of pent-up sadness and wants to let it out like many young men but he deems it taboo to talk about himself. What these three all have in common is repressed emotions that come out of the closet if they drink enough.
Yeah it's just showing their true selves instead of how they try to present themselves normally. It's taking the phrase "Keeping up appearances" literally. Henry is a cynic and the more he drinks the more of his assholic side starts to pop out (repesented by him looking unhinged). Lisa is overburdened and stressed out and the more she drink starts to worry about things (represented by ripping her hair out her scalp and looking more manic). Marcus has severe depression and the more he drinks the more hopeless he starts to feel (represented by his eyes bulging out and looking hollow/dead inside). It's a pretty straight-forward in what it's trying to say and just going about it with the absolute extreme. Plus working at a college bar in a small town you get to know the regulars and it's the same song and dance, so I sort of understand what the dev was trying to convey with their message. You see these types a lot, and start to see who they really are just not to this extreme...some times lmfao...
Not exactly though. Alcohol doesn't just lower inhibitions, it impairs judgement. Basically you say and do things you wouldn't, not just what you "want to do deep insude". Any former alcoholic can attest to that. I don't do a lot of things alcoholics do just because I'm inhibited, but because I have planning skills.
I think henry may be a tad bit of people pleaser beacause everyone like this can not be kinder to everyone they don't dislike or hate simply for the reason: beacause he finds some people annoying or bothersome.
Lisa ripped her hair out- she was stressed and came there to drink her problems away. Likely stress from school. Marcus was kind and approachable, he'd listen to anybody, but never spoke about himself, he was likely desperate for human contact, he needed "another sunrise" cause he was falling apart inside, and likely didn't want to live, but also never reached out. Henry seemed like he was frustrated with his job, and people in general, and just seemed malicious-- I can't read what his deal was other than...picking a job he didn't like. the thing hat gets me the most about horror games is imagery that sticks in your mind. so i hate hate HATE the facial expressions, makes my heart jump so bad, and i become paranoid that i wont be able to forget the face. especially cuz the one time i had sleep paralysis, the face of the woman i saw was stuck with me for the rest of the night and i couldnt sleep, had to "make peace" with this imaginary woman just to feel better. other stuff that has scared the shit out of me for the same reason is that one game manly played about a mom praying so hard her son became a skeleton and the painting "tominos hell"
I'm cool with it not being explained, it works open to interpretation. Stuck in purgatory, just a nightmare, or maybe the bartender is just drunk too. Either way, it's great to see this gameplay applied to a horror game. For anyone curious, the barista game Manly is referring to is Coffee Talk (which has a sequel).
Makes me happy to hear people reference VA11 Hall-A, it's an all time favorite game of mine. I hope the dev for this game cleans it up and continues to add more!
_Reflections in a bartender's eyes_ I agree with you. I don't know that the people changed at all except in the eyes of the bartender. Henry was 'gonna need a refill' because of dealing with people's money troubles. Lisa became the Mojito Lady as you gave her the first drink and you commented that she was stressed, as she had come in every day even before this 'celebration day'. And then Marcus who never talked about himself, except that things 'could be better. Bartender felt he was hiding how much life was hurting him. I enjoyed this and wished it was longer. I think the confusion about what to double in the drinks gave great scares lol.

I think forgetting recipes when the game throws in a recipe you already know is the same psychological effect some get when they are asked like in an interview or in a group "tell us about yourself' and suddenly they have no clue who they are (well okay they do know, it isn't amnesia or anything but you get what I mean) and question everything about themselves. I don't do this myself but have seen plenty who do and I find it fascinating how that sort of 'being watched/judged' pressure effects them. Psychological cousin to minor stage fright, maybe? Whatever the case it is interesting.
3:114:15 Her name changes to Mojito Lady, this is probably her being named after her addiction but, it's way funnier to think this is what they called her while in development and forgot to change her name for that part.

Hmmm... And I'm being purely analytical here. And to even have the game describe him in a fairly positive way with mostly redeeming qualities except the fact he's somewhat private. That's the core experience for most black and SOME people of color.

the thing hat gets me the most about horror games is imagery that sticks in your mind. so i hate hate HATE the facial expressions, makes my heart jump so bad, and i become paranoid that i wont be able to forget the face. especially cuz the one time i had sleep paralysis, the face of the woman i saw was stuck with me for the rest of the night and i couldnt sleep, had to "make peace" with this imaginary woman just to feel better. other stuff that has scared the shit out of me for the same reason is that one game manly played about a mom praying so hard her son became a skeleton and the painting "tominos hell"
@@myphinisheris0waot jeeeez
I literally MAKE up faces especially as a kid
“Apparently there’s a bug if you put ingredients in too fast it doesn’t register”
Proceeds to put the mint in too fast
Because the footage for the other outcomes are taken from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th playthroughs of the game.
@@ManlyBadassHero Did u just liked your own comment
@@controlplusc27 Yes, obviously. Who doesn't like their own comments?
I, absolutely, did not like my own comment.
@@momentmoment-4 Liking ur own comment is gay.
I’m obsessed with this art style so nostalgic
olivia mccabe did the art! she’s a friend of mine and very talented :3
@@fluffyhamster7 she really is! Where could I find more of her stuff?!
@@isychia4947there was also another artist on the game who you can see in the game’s description!
_Reflections in a bartender's eyes_
I agree with you.
Its kinda strange because henry and lisa look insane when they are turning, but Marcus seems depressed.
I can confirm nothing strange is going on, I often look like them after my daily 6 hour bar binge
Dont think a single one of those cocktails are shaken irl lol
Judging from other comments I've seen the drinks that were chosen are actually not shaken (at least usually), so pretty ironic
The game is actually literal. This is just what happens when you shake these drinks and someone drinks them.
Them: Something effed up is happening
Also Them: here's your drink with extra eyeballs
14:00 I was thinking this was definitely modeled as a love note to Coffee Talk, as soon as the customer made you lose your recipe guide I knew for sure!
A shaken old fashioned, terrifying
Edit: actuality HILARIOUS that they chose the 3 drinks you don’t usually shake Lmao
this artstyle is so nice to look at, i love the colors.
Just found your channel and I am blown away by how soothing your voice is
As a bartender irl, every day is like a horror game rofl
The horror part is where you’re forced to shake an old fashioned to advance the game and no one says shit about it
My theory its about alcoholism And how it can rapidly change someone. Deteriorate them And can cause them to become violent
Man, I missed you so much!! I've taken a week long break from RUclips to focus on some other stuff and I missed getting cozy in bed and falling asleep to your voice every day
This seems like a horror parody of coffee talk
I'm a new bartender, and honestly I could go for a game where you're just making drinks so I can put it all to memory
there's something like that for VR on Steam, not sure how good it is though
I keep returning to this video, by this time I'm on my 5th rewatch. There's something about this game... Very soothing, even with the horror. I loved the music and the concept. I pray the dev expands it. Thank you, Manly
as a full time bartender the fact that they make you SHAKE the old fashioned makes my face want to melt off. that's a stirred cocktail sobemoji
one of the creators commented (here) that they didn't have enough time so shaking is the best compromise they could go for for everything
i love your voice so much oml
“This is manlybadasshero here with a 30 hour video of the entire lore, all endings, all items, all chaos emeralds for the New Horror Game released 5 seconds ago”
(Not a hate comment I like this content lol)
And he would sound half asleep the entire time because he wouldn't sleep before getting the full game to us
I bet this guys class loved when he had to read a paragraph
*Jumpscares killing you*
Manly with a slight intuition: "I think i got it wrong"
Watching this behind the bar on a slow monday right around 1 am
Shaking a drink with club soda in the shaker and not poured on top afterwards is a recipe for disaster.
The thing i like about ManlyBadassHero is that he is a completionist if theres an option he will take both of them and we see both outcomes and its jsut so interesting and thats why i dont watch some of the other youtubers but Manly just does it perfectly.
God this game’s art-style is so- just- *_YUMMY_*
I'm laughing that you posted this today since I just passed and completed a bartending course yesterday. 😂🍾🥂
The ironic timing at it's best lol, but on a serious note - nice, good job! I hope your career will go well and that future customers won't cause issues! :)
14:46 I WASNT EXPECTING ANY JUMPSCARE FFS
Perfect, just wanted to end the day relaxing a bit
This game sounds like a horror themed, almost parody of that wholesome game coffee talk.
Your Voice acting is ON POINT
-NIce Job
I haven't seen you for years as you're still Posting more horror pixel games I love it
manlybadasshero is the best candidate for a narrator for pretty much any game
Or as a guest VA in a creepypasta reading.
3:11 4:15 Her name changes to Mojito Lady, this is probably her being named after her addiction but, it's way funnier to think this is what they called her while in development and forgot to change her name for that part.
Its one am right now, perfect timing as always manly.
My sister and I filmed this game tonight and while playing..we couldn’t figure out the very end and we watched you for guidance, and ended up winning. We finished up the recording and watched you after, safe to say she really likes your content
"which is a horror game!" idk why but i love when you say that
Manly: identifies a glitch where if you put ingredients in too quickly, it won’t register.
Also Manly: continues to put in ingredients too quickly and they won’t register.
13:51 my face trying to flirt with the cute bartender after my 10th drink
It looks like you ordered the bartender’s heart, *literally.*
This is the perfect video to eat in the dark with blue ranch doritos.
Alcohol brings the worst out of you, I think this game goes as simple as that, and it works perfectly.
7:50- Bro became horrid henry
The dev played Coffee Talk , I bet
It ain’t much, but I love your honest work lol
It's not as horrifying as the time I was in a hotel bar and all the patrons turned out to be man eating lizards. The floor was soaked with blood and people were still serving drinks to the damn things. Jesus!
Damn I wanna give Marcus a hug.🙁 I know the feeling all too well.
When I drink I just get giggly damn
As a bartender, this is very accurate to a day at work..
As a bartender, it’s fun to see the correct recipes even if you shouldn’t shake old fashioneds
the music is really relaxing
* walks in at 1:59 * phew glad i got in before you guys closed
The guy on the thumbnail looks like when a anime protagonist get brutally beaten by the villain but the gets up and says that he was only getting started
Hmmm... And I'm being purely analytical here. Since we're all the 2nd Person (being the audience) I think it's quite interesting that everyone's orders was remembered and made correctly except Marcus'. And to even have the game describe him in a fairly positive way with mostly redeeming qualities except the fact he's somewhat private. That's the core experience for most black and SOME people of color.
Coffee Talk: benadryl nightmare
I got a skincare ad while someone was melting 💀
MANLY I LOVE UR CONTENT
Manlys theroy at the end seems spot on, especially with lisa. Pulling out your hair is known to happen if one is too stressed.
i interpreted this as the three 'types of drunk people'
Henry was the laughing drunk
Lisa was the flirty drunk
Marcus was the sad drunk
i'm probably wrong about this lol
🍊
lisa's not really a flirty drunk. It seems like her stress bubbled up to the surface when she's drunk. Nevertheless, the game is about different types of drunks.
Bro its not that deep. Its a 20-minute low-effort flash game.
@@KenLinxwell, this is where people can say anything they want. So it is deep for them.
@@KenLinx Just because a game takes about 20 minutes to play and seems to have taken low effort to make makes it instantly not worth analyzing and making theories about? Let people have fun, just because something seems simple and easy to look over/ignore doesn't make it not worth looking into.
Being in the service industry myself, this just seems like a fairly routine evening of serving customers.
The game itself overall is okay amd not bad, I just wish it could have more than one endings and the mixing bug didn't ruin the game.
Just imagine the bartender tricking them, by refusing to giving them the drink until they tell them what is wrong. They give them the drinks and the Next drink we can decide to not give them the drink and counseling before finally giving them the choice to either drink their sorrows/problems or try to seek help.
@@deviallen2131 yeah! The game itself however has good plot despite being short, about people consuming alcohol for coping in their lives.
@@winterphuntasm Yeah, i think the Game is mostly to portray the horrors of alcoholism. Is like the game where the Guy has cáncer and yet he still smokes.
Shaking an Old Fashioned will definitely make bartenders scream, but I don't think it will be out of fear.
