Based on what she said when she steals your body, she's on the run and has been hiding by taking other people's bodies. It clearly isn't a permanent solution though, since we aren't the first. So, in ending 3, where you say the incantation she tells you, you take her place and she continues to steal bodies to hide herself. In the endings where you leave and someone else does the interview, she likely gets them to say the incantation and they die in her place (the body mentioned in ending 4). In ending 2, the hunter catches her, and for whatever reason, decides to destroy the world she was in. In ending 1, the hunter catches her, and because of whatever we did, it spares the world (also note that it doesn't leave her body behind, even though it left the bodies of the other victims). So it sounds like this is just inter-dimensional shenanigans. She's an eldritch small-fry on the run, stealing bodies to escape a powerful enemy she made. She agreed to the interview to get us to say the chant because she's running out of time. Unless she finds someone else to take her place, the Hunter will catch her and destroy the world along with her unless we say the chant revealed by contradicting her. So the real questions are, what did she do to attract something that powerful, and what does the chant do that changes the outcome? I can't really figure it out, though. The only thing I can think of is what James said about the chant, it's revealed by partially breaking her grip on reality, so maybe the chant completely breaks her hold, sending her to a different reality, and the Hunter destroys that reality instead? If she was sent to a different reality, it would explain why she disappeared when the other victims didn't despite being killed by the same thing. It also makes sense in that it doesn't actually change what the Hunter does, it just changes what it does it to (the other reality we sent her to). The theory is still pretty weak, though.
It was mentioned that it was a Gaelic incantation, and what he said in order for Darcy to get killed only, was 'You're not welcome'. I think that applied to the monster as it didn't attack the world, since it 'wasn't welcomed'. Moral of the story: Be polite and kindly tell a stranger that they aren't welcome if they aren't!
21:44 An interrogation room without any cameras or voice recorders? I just feel this ending was made this way just to not get any happy end, realistically, the body would either disapear or be contorted, and the investigator wouldn't be a suspect, he could even use the disaperences and his explanation plus the professor's notes as evidence of the supernatural nature of the case, I feel this should be the happy end and if the idea was to make none of them actually happy this one should have another downside
The professor's second note and the inscription on the photograph weren't normally visible, either. I suspect something similar applies to any evidence of the pocket dimensions touching.
I love that the incantation is just straight up Scottish Gaelic for "You're not welcome (here)" 😂 The voice actor's pronunciation is a bit dodgy, but I do enjoy when I see a language I know being used for magicy purposes, like Welsh and Gaelic. If anyone's curious, the other incantation is "Let's turn (exchange) bodies"
But perhaps that is the point. What is gibberish for those who does not know is just a normal language for those who do. Doesnt matter if it's Japanese, English, Gaelic, R'lyehian, tlhIngan Hol, or Tagalog.
@@VineFynn not only that, but he hears the incantation from some otherworldly being. Who knows if scottish gaelic in that other world sounds exactly the same.
Ending 1 doesn't make any sense because he has the entire conversation on tape. He can just give that tape to his attorney, and his attorney can figure out how to free him from the facility.
exacly, the only way it would make sense was if the apearence of the hunter entity somehow messed with the tape or if wasn't transported into the pocked dimension they were in
When I read the video title at first I imagine it would be _random_ whether the girl is a monster. As in, you get thrust into a session where it's _already_ been decided whether she's human or not. And during the interrogation you'd have to either agitate the entity enough to reveal itself, or recognize she's a normal human and avoid stressing her even more.
"Welcome to the human reentry processing facility. This your first day on the job? Job's simple, you figure out who's human, and who's an eldrich entity trying to escape into our reality, usually because they're being hunted down by more powerful entities that they enraged in some way." "Before you try and let any entities into our reality, just don't do it. Yes, we can hold off even the more powerful entities, we're lucky that we have thick dimensional walls that also reduce the power of any entity that gets in. Yes, any entity powerful enough to pass through would just forcefully take them anyways and leave us be, since we're mortal micro-fry in a tiny dimension. Still, one entity left in is a human left out there, and that human will probably die, because that's how they can cross into our reality without brute-forcing their ways in." "So, now you're aware of that, let's get to business. You won't be able to visually tell an entity from an actual human, so you're gonna have to rely on good old uncanney valley to sniff out the entities. Yes, uncanney valley, our built-in defense against psychopaths. As I said, they look human, so you're gonna have to listen to how they sound, and you'll occasionally sniff them out by wearing wierd expressions." "We'll start you on an easy one. This one's gotta be a desperate one; acting like they've never been a human before. Probably pissed off some higher-level entity that cracks dimensions apart or something, by how scared they appear. I don't got any sympathy for them, though, since they're trying to swap places with one of our coworkers. One I really like, too. So, go get 'em, tiger!
Currently at 7:50, I wanna guess the rest . Heather was a monster, killed Darcy, overtook her body That's why they're getting a lot mixed up . Just heard manly say the same ---- Alright I'm done with the video and honestly that's not what I expected at all
Entity: *Reveals itself and twists reality before his very eyes, showing things he could never have imagined before.* Interrogator, calmly: Hey, woah there... What's all this about?
Sorry to say that isn't what happened, she took the body of the other employee like she does to you if you recite the spell she gives you. 1/5 is the best IMO because she at least got what she deserved, but the protagonist was kind of stupid for not just lying about her attacking him or something.
@@disincor I wouldn't say stupid, I would rather say exhausted after seeing all the shit he saw. I wouldn't exactly be motivated to live a normal life either after seeing that.
@@khairilameer620 In ending 4, she has the same mangled body that Heather did, suggesting that that body's status is a result of getting grabbed by the Hunter, and because it was just the mangled body and not the end of all life, one could infer that the Entity switched bodies with the other interrogator. In ending 1, because the Hunter got the Entity correctly, the body disappeared (or at least, that's what its absence in that ending as opposed to all of the others suggests).
If I had a nickel for every time I had to ask a woman questions to determine if she was trustworthy and not a monster I would have two nickels which is not a lot but it is weird it happened twice.
Glad to see the developer try and highlight a different aspect of their strengths, I like their 2D art getting put front and center. This was nice, some good otherworldly hororr.
Okay so this game has gaelic in it! "Chan eil failte oirbh" basically means "You are not welcome" but the pronunciation is off Ch in gaelic is pronounced like a K and te is pronounced like a cha "Fawll-che" and bh is a v so "orv" "leig leinn cuirp an tionnadadh" is meant to be "Let us convert our bodies" I assume but again pronunciation is different "Lay-g, lay-n, corp an chown-dag" Now it might not be Irish Gaelic so it might have different pronunciation but yeah
Damn creepy, minimalistic, but well done. I think there might have been more to it if you had to assess a series of such patients and try to detect IF they are monsters and react as appropriate... but it is an interesting idea with good execution. Props to the dev.
This type of concept for a game sounds very interesting it brings so much curiosity about "Heather" and what she is hiding and I am super into it! ^^ thank you for playing this cool game 😊❤
I'd develop it if I new how, or had time to learn. Hear me out, Intera-gator. You're a gator interrogating to find zebras or other prey. Where it gets interesting is, sometimes you'll have zebras that actually have a really bad disguise or a gator that just looks like it has a bad disguise. It's actually impossible to tell if they are or not, from appearance alone but possible from dialog. Also, there is one crocodile. Because it's not a gator, it doesn't count. It is the absolute one time that you can use appearance to tell them apart and it's completely random
I like to imagine games like this going on in real life and manly is just sitting there after her name she gave a name and he just keeps flipping that file up to his face and then looks at her and then just continue to do that for 5 minutes straight file face file face file face like a bouncer checking an ID they have a strong suspicion is fake
Guys remember, the ending where he is held under suspicion is the one where she 'disappeared', not 'died'. The hunter took her, leaving no body to be found, and he doubted that anyone would believe him if he told the truth, so in the end he was incarcerated. Saying that she attacked him and escaped would require evidence of her bonds being removed, the assault that followed, and her subsequent escape, but since it's a lie none of those things exist. Also in the ending where he gets his body snatched he directly addresses someone outside the room within earshot of Darcy, likely a guard. With all that to consider, it's objectively impossible for her to have made an escape even if he did free her. Although... Along those same lines it's impossible for him to have somehow hidden her too, but it's still way more plausible that he knows what happened to her and is purposefully hiding it (which is the truth), so it makes sense to suspect him.
arresting him for anything also requires evidence? He can just say the truth, eldritch being etc. They either believe him or are stuck with an unsolvable closed room mystery. He can't be incarcerated for something that there 1) no proof he did 2) nobody to even accuse him of doing it.
I've been pretty impressed lately with some of the lovecraftian horror games that have come out. Some of them are really great. I highly enjoyed sucker for love due to the fact that they had horror AND comedy. Every once in a while I love me a Horror comedy Video Game. 😁 Thanks for the upload Manly! Hope you have a fantastic day/night. You and your family stay safe and healthy.💜🤝
It's interesting to me. If you do nothing the hunter enters this world, but like... what about if the entity hides from it? What's stopping the entity from just breaking in anyways since it DID get someone. From what it seems to be, the Hunter can only get into the world if it gets the correct person, sure, but then why does it, after having gotten the correct person, destroy everyone else? Maybe it thought they were intentionally hiding them. I guess that makes sense, it thought they were accomplices. And by revealing her, to it, you make it clear you AREN"T helping her, you don't want her, and it's just like "ya you chill"... hopefully.
@9t7problems wait, so what happened was when saying the encantation that switched the entitity and Darcy's bodies the professor was caught on the pocket universe right? But then why when the interviewer did the same nobody seems to disapear
@9t7problems I genuinly think the entity was telling the truth about the professor, as far as we know, he kidnapped both students and was coerced to do other things, if he was useful for the entity, it wouldn't just lock him away for him knowing too much
@9t7problems I don't think the Entity trapped the professor, because the Entity was stuck, bound up, after the ritual, without the professor to release her. Hence why she got caught by the police. I think he slipped up like she said, leaving him trapped there.
holy fuck this game has such good potential. I'd have loved if it was longer, took more time to crack “Darcy,” and there was more interrogating; more piecing together the crime scene and what happened. devs have a VERY beautiful game right here, I would love to see it expanded on someday
I get it. When you find out those words, which ironically you find out only when it starts to reveal its true face, you're revealing the its secret to the Hunter. You're basically giving him its X Y Z coordiantes. And in return the Hunter lets you go. My only grip with the ending is...why do they arrest you? Like, the protag has the recorder with him, moreover they did disappear in front of them. Appearing only like 5-15 minutes later. And only the protag appears. So not only they cannot ignore the fact that something genuinely supernatural is happening but that the detective just stopped an incursion from happening basically.
Also another contradiction in entity's words is that it calls the other thing a "hunter" and says if it gets access to our world it'll destroy it, if it really is a thing that destroys worlds then it would've been called "destroyer", "decimator" etc. But a hunter? And it's said by the entity that hides from that hunter? Brilliant writing
I mean it did do that in the end, but it comes off to me more like a predatorial animal finding a target it was chasing down and then seeing tons more easy targets nearby, rather than outright malice or destructive intent
Manly: I am on a timer with this also Manly: Majority of time wasted looking throw all the pages regardless of if they were relevant to the situation or not, or just plain speculating.
from Google translate, 'Leig leinn cuirp a thionnadh.' means 'Let us turn bodies.' in Scottish Gaelic and 'Chan eil fàilte oirbh.' means 'You are not welcome.' in the same language could this game, therefore, take place somewhere in Scotland or somewhere in the UK?
I think the monster needed an invitation before it could take over your body. You can say the invitation in any language, even one you dont know how to speak or understand. So the body snatcher is just tricking you to say it and banking on you probably dont know Gaelic
I mean, given they're calling it "university" rather than "college" that wouldn't be surprising, though with the accent of the male voice actor I'd lean more towards Australia...
The scary "spider face" also isn't her "Face"... she's more of the shadow you see at the start of the reality. The scary faces it makes is the Hunter slowly grabbing her, trying to do the same thing to her as he did to you, AKA "Removing skin from every opening (mouth, eyes) i had, bones bending like rubber) and she was in pain, trying to just get this over with as fast as it can, that's why it got really angry at the "questions"
Haha, the premise of this game is wild. This is a cop-killer, being interrogated by healthcare personnel. The police are like “Oh sorry, we can’t give you any evidence since she’s the subject of an investigation. Good luck!” It’s like….yes that’s why the police interrogate people they arrest. Not doctors, save for determining competence to stand trial, etc. This is a terrifying, crazy world they live in, lol.
@@DeathnoteBB like I said, yes there are times when they would. But not to basically gather evidence and take statements concerning a crime, as is being done here.
This deserves a remake. It's interesting as it is, but it could be a classic with subtler/better VA, a bit slower gameplay with maybe some interspersed detective scenes and stronger visuals. I don't say any of that to denigrate what's there, I'm saying the means didn't weigh up to the idea, which is great.
I don’t know if my eyes are messing with me, but her body kept jittering and pulsing, makes sense with what happens, but if it’s intentional from the devs that’s pretty cool.
hey manly, i'd love to see you check out the demo for the game "DREDGE" it's a fishing-boat Lovecraftian game, one of the highest quality horror experiences i've seen this year tbh and im sure it will be up your alley.
Hey manly i think you should try out game called GNOSIA. It's basically mafia or werewolf, but singleplayer where different characters can be randomly marked as infected, including you.
I think the main goal was actually to let the monster kill the entity with the 4 words written in the book, so the weird spider thingy won't destroy their world
@@motafu1 Yes but the entity took over Darcy's body, it probaly was living as Heather for a while before switching over. It does the same thing to the protag in one of the endings.
That's true but unfortunately Darcy, specifically Darcy in Heather's body, was already dead before the interrogation even took place so it's not like you could do anything
i like how calm he is when he's dealing with a supernatural entity being hunted by an even more supernatural entity who can literally destroy all life as we know it "You sure? No other options? Well frick you, cause I can say 'Chan Eil failte oirbh', and possibly end the entire universe."
I've recently started trying to learn 3D animation myself. I've considered making a horror game over the past few months but my coding isn't the best so I might just make the 3d models and hire someone to help code it, or I'll just forget the idea altogether. I don't have any plans for one anyway, just something I thought might be fun.
The game was made in 2 Weeks for a GameJam and sadly the voice actress was recovering from an illness at the time when we needed her voice work for the game. In the end, though I basically viewed the ruff acting as a bit fitting for what the game is. Much like how the bad acting in Silent Hill 2 kind of added this uncanny to the game experience.
It fits, considering the monster can take over different bodies which could imply that the monster is already hiding for a long time as different people.

Well the chant in ending one is "you are not welcome" so its possible

There was a time before cameras and recorders

The professor's second note and the inscription on the photograph weren't normally visible, either. I suspect something similar applies to any evidence of the pocket dimensions touching.
I love that the incantation is just straight up Scottish Gaelic for "You're not welcome (here)" 😂
The voice actor's pronunciation is a bit dodgy, but I do enjoy when I see a language I know being used for magicy purposes, like Welsh and Gaelic.
The character's pronunciation being bad is deliberate, he isn't a native speaker, you can even hear him hesitate
@@VineFynn not only that, but he hears the incantation from some otherworldly being. Who knows if scottish gaelic in that other world sounds exactly the same.
Ending 1 doesn't make any sense because he has the entire conversation on tape. He can just give that tape to his attorney, and his attorney can figure out how to free him from the facility.
exacly, the only way it would make sense was if the apearence of the hunter entity somehow messed with the tape or if wasn't transported into the pocked dimension they were in
The tap probably fucked up after she used magic to trap him.
When I read the video title at first I imagine it would be _random_ whether the girl is a monster. As in, you get thrust into a session where it's _already_ been decided whether she's human or not. And during the interrogation you'd have to either agitate the entity enough to reveal itself, or recognize she's a normal human and avoid stressing her even more.
...damn, this idea is actually very neat /gen
i'd love to see something like that
"Welcome to the human reentry processing facility. This your first day on the job? Job's simple, you figure out who's human, and who's an eldrich entity trying to escape into our reality, usually because they're being hunted down by more powerful entities that they enraged in some way."
"Before you try and let any entities into our reality, just don't do it. Still, one entity left in is a human left out there, and that human will probably die, because that's how they can cross into our reality without brute-forcing their ways in."
"So, now you're aware of that, let's get to business. You won't be able to visually tell an entity from an actual human, so you're gonna have to rely on good old uncanney valley to sniff out the entities. Yes, uncanney valley, our built-in defense against psychopaths. As I said, they look human, so you're gonna have to listen to how they sound, and you'll occasionally sniff them out by wearing wierd expressions."
"We'll start you on an easy one.

Surprisingly it's actually correct, since Darcy was killed after getting transferred into Heather's body.

Sorry to say that isn't what happened, she took the body of the other employee like she does to you if you recite the spell she gives you. 1/5 is the best IMO because she at least got what she deserved, but the protagonist was kind of stupid for not just lying about her attacking him or something.

yup
I'd develop it if I new how, or had time to learn. Hear me out, Intera-gator. You're a gator interrogating to find zebras or other prey. Where it gets interesting is, sometimes you'll have zebras that actually have a really bad disguise or a gator that just looks like it has a bad disguise. It's actually impossible to tell if they are or not, from appearance alone but possible from dialog. Also, there is one crocodile. Because it's not a gator, it doesn't count. It is the absolute one time that you can use appearance to tell them apart and it's completely random
Ending 5 is the best ending, always follow your intuition.
I like to imagine games like this going on in real life and manly is just sitting there after her name she gave a name and he just keeps flipping that file up to his face and then looks at her and then just continue to do that for 5 minutes straight file face file face file face like a bouncer checking an ID they have a strong suspicion is fake
"Leig leinn cuirp a thionndadh" is Scottish Gaelic for "let's switch bodies," while "Chan eil failte oirbh" means "You are not welcome."

And by revealing her, to it, you make it clear you AREN"T helping her, you don't want her, and it's just like "ya you chill"... hopefully.
then how does the hunter manage to kill random people it thinks it's the entity? it clearely have access to earth
@9t7problems wait, so what happened was when saying the encantation that switched the entitity and Darcy's bodies the professor was caught on the pocket universe right? But then why when the interviewer did the same nobody seems to disapear
@9t7problems noooo doesn’t happen like dat
@9t7problems I genuinly think the entity was telling the truth about the professor, as far as we know, he kidnapped both students and was coerced to do other things, if he was useful for the entity, it wouldn't just lock him away for him knowing too much
@9t7problems I don't think the Entity trapped the professor, because the Entity was stuck, bound up, after the ritual, without the professor to release her. Hence why she got caught by the police. I think he slipped up like she said, leaving him trapped there.
rip to the replacement interrogator but if I was in charge of an otherworldly entity I would simply not get killed by it

Wow, that was actually a good "visual novel"-ish game. I actually enjoyed that more than I expected.
The voice acting could be "bigger" for lack of better words, but I liked this!
The interrogator was alright, or at least fitting. The entity's VA that was just plainly bad.
I like how you can just choose to not take the job.
I mean it did do that in the end, but it comes off to me more like a predatorial animal finding a target it was chasing down and then seeing tons more easy targets nearby, rather than outright malice or destructive intent

could this game, therefore, take place somewhere in Scotland or somewhere in the UK?
I think the monster needed an invitation before it could take over your body. You can say the invitation in any language, even one you dont know how to speak or understand. So the body snatcher is just tricking you to say it and banking on you probably dont know Gaelic
No, but they were traveling to Scotland
I mean, given they're calling it "university" rather than "college" that wouldn't be surprising, though with the accent of the male voice actor I'd lean more towards Australia...
