    Works great. Have enjoyed embroidering and for piecing quilts share4.photo/sSewing No issues with it. Seems to work with most 7mm feet. I’m using some of my mother in laws Brother feet from the 60’s/70’s and they work great. Even a very old walking foot which has been great. Nice heavy duty case which does not move around when I sew.

    Thankyou! The reminder you made about having the needle raised to its highest point! Otherwise the threader won’t move.

    I don't know if you still check the comments on this video, but I wanted to say THANK-YOU!! I was so frustrated when mine stopped working this afternoon and worried that I would have to take my machine into the shop and wait for the repair. But after watching this excellent video I fixed it myself and I'm back in business. Thank-you again.

    You are a star! Have had this problem for months, the machine has been to the shop twice and they say it's all okay but when it gets home, the needle threader is still not working. Got out my stitch ripper and tweaked the hook and it's all working again. Magic. Thank you so much for the video.

    So I have had my viking jade 20 for about a month and after about 2 weeks the needle threader stopped working. We tried your fix and after tinkering with a magnifying glass, bright lights and my husband's help we bent the hook back into place but it was an ordeal. Well yesterday the needle threader stopped working again and I decided to ask at Joann's where we bought it for help. But before I took it into them I tried one more thing that I did not find on the internet but just noticed looking at my machine--there is an easily accessible screw on the needle threader itself that I loosened and retightened and whala!! The threader works great now. Didn't have to return or pay a service guy to look at it and no time lost sewing!!Yeah!! Hope this helps some others!

      I'm glad to hear that you were able to find a new solution to the problem! For anyone who has a machine where the needle threader screws to the shaft, this is something that you should take a moment to check before attempting anything else! Thanks for taking the time to comment and to share your insight!

      sharon gregory it re-fed the bobbin through and then re-threaded the machine making sure the thread grabbed where it was supposed to and it got everything working! I was really at the end of my wits trying to figure it out but that worked!

    • @unicornsarereal4254
      @unicornsarereal4254 4 года назад

      I did try every screw around and re-installed the needle and re installed the bobbin and thread from the top and it started working, obviously something wasn’t threaded right to grab hold and move everything into place. I get it how hard it is to manually thread the needle between age and lighting it was so sucky! Hope this helps everyone! Stay safe

    I was having issues with my automatic threader. I watched several videos which all made the process look simple. No matter how many times I tried it just wasn't working. It never once worked. This is my first dealings with an auto threader so I figured it was just beyond me and my ability lol. Your repair explanation had me examining the threading mechanism more closely and I found the tiny threader was indeed bent (no other video even mentioned this as a possible issue). I straightened the threader out and for the first time the needle was threaded using the auto threader. Thank you!

    Oh my! Thank you so much for explaining to me how to fix my machine. It took a little doing, and some patience (and a high power magnifying glass for my poor old eyes) but I finally managed to fix the silly thing, without a trip to the repair shop which I could scarcely afford. It turned out that the whole mechanism had slipped down too low on the shaft. I pushed it back up and after a few little tweaks, it works once again! I thought it was hopeless! Bless you, you sweet, thoughtful young lady. What a great help! Keep up the good work. Bravo!

      That's interesting, but also unfortunate what happened to you. I didn't know that the mechanism could drop down like that. If someone has that problem, I will send them too you. Happy sewing! and I will try to keep up with the videos.

    THANK YOU! I got a sewing machine online and could never get the automatic threader to work and thought I was doing something wrong. Watched a video of using it over and over and didn't understand why the tiny needle wasn't pulling it through when I was doing everything exactly right so I've been manually threading it. today I finally decided to figure out what's up, and it's because it came bent out of place and was going off to the side instead of through the eye.

    OMG, you saved my sewing lsanity! I'm using a fairly new Janomie DC5100 machine and right from the start I had problems with the auto threader, but I never used one before so I figured it was me. Then all of a sudden it started working. Then recently I changed the type of thread I was using, and it stopped working completely. My eyes are bad, and this a function I really love. After watching your video I figured out that all I had to do was gently move the needle to the left a bit as I was threading it, and it works perfectly. I think the hook is a bit bent, and I'm guessing it came that way. Frankly, I'm not thrilled with this machine, but since I've used it and can't return it, at least I can get it to work the way it's supposed to! Thanks so much for posting!

    • @lzyssewingroom2160
      @lzyssewingroom2160  9 лет назад

      +ML Walsh Gee, I've always wanted a Janome or Bernina, but I suppose that they can have problems too. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but some of the different thread sizes can cause problems with the threader. I recently bent the hook again by using a small needle that didn't have room for the thread and the threader. I fixed it and stopped using the the auto threader with that combination. Happy sewing!

      +Lzy's Sewing Room The machine manual will tell you what size needles you can use the autuomatic threader with for people that don't read the manual. I'm not insulting you, I am saying this for the people out there that set their machine up and start using it.

    I am brand new to sewing and this is my first machine. Thanks so much. I just self threaded for the 1st time. Also: Can you recommend other videos specifically for this machine. I made curtains & pajamas so I am "sewing," but I don't know when to change a needle, what presser feet to buy etc. I would like to watch videos where this machine is used. Thanks. Julie

    • @lzyssewingroom2160
      @lzyssewingroom2160  7 лет назад +1

      Hi there Julie, I'm sorry that I didn't get back to you right away. I had a password problem of all things!
      I change the needle after every few projects or if I'm having a problem with my stitches or the machine jamming. Maybe 8 hours of use is a rule of thumb, but who calculates their sewing time like that!
      My machine came with several presser feet. You may have noticed that when you change stitches, the machine tells you which presser foot to use. There's an icon in the center of the screen. Below that symbol is a letter, this corresponds to a foot.
      J is normal foot for straight stitches and a few zig-zags.
      G is used for zigzags and it does a quasi rolled hem. See stitches 6-9 to get an idea of its function.
      I use the zipper foot "I." For clarity that's i not L. This one has a single ski-shaped arm/runner in the front.
      I also use the buttonhole foot which is made from white plastic. It's about 4 inches long. It does a great job of matching the opening to the size of your button. (Maybe I should do a video showing how that works.)
      I almost never use feet N, R and M. I believe R is for fancy invisible hems on slacks, dresses or skirts, but I prefer to do hemming by hand, so I've only used it once.
      I use the free-motion foot, which has a clear plastic oval at the bottom where the needle sticks through. There's a spring along the shaft that helps it hop up and down. It's good for free-motion quilting or stitching lace with the feed dogs down/disengaged. I had to purchase it separately, and it's probably not worth it for most people.
      I hope that this helps! I wish you lots of luck and hope that you have loads of fun. If you have any questions or video requests, just leave a comment!

    Just a suggestion: when you say "Let's look at that again" - when threading the needle, your hand was covering the image.
    The only reason I knew what to do, was because I've watched other videos.

    A close-up view from the front and the sides of how the pin/hook *should* be aligned with respect to the guide arms would be helpful. Our hook got bent, and though I bent it back towards the middle from front view, the hook is having trouble passing through the eye or gets hung up on the eye when trying to withdraw it, making think it's still bent slightly up or down from where it should be.

      Hi there Tanja, gosh, that does not sound good! Do you have a friend who can solder? Otherwise, you might have to go back to the old-fashioned way! Or use a needle threading tool like I mentioned in another comment. Once I get used to a convenience, that's it! :)

  • @j.hamilton6880
    @j.hamilton6880 9 лет назад +4

    That does not always work. Sometimes it is a case where you need to loosen a screw in the needle threader and adjust the part that has the wire attached to it right or left. There is also a screw that adjusts the up and down if it is going above the needle or below the needle. I got the instructions from a repairman in Australia. Sorry, I don't have the website. Their fix was what my needle threader needed. Bending the wire can break it if you are not extremely careful.

      +Janice Hamilton Also, I use the needle up/down button to make sure needle is in highest position.

      If anyone has a machine like yours, that would be a good thing to check before trying anything else. If the assembly is loose, that's the only fix.
      In my case, the machine doesn't have a screw-on attachment for the needle threader mechanism. It has a rivet, so tightening the screw wasn't an option. The metal piece there is quite flexible due to the nature of the job that it has to perform, so I felt comfortable gently nudging it back into place. The way it was, it was unusable, so I didn't think it was risky. Of course, if anyone doesn't feel comfortable completing this type of DIY fix, the repairman is always available! Thanks for taking the time to comment, Janice.

      I think I need to adjust the one that makes it go up and down. The whole mechanism is stuck in the "down" position and won't go up into the machine and away to sew properly.

      If the needle isn't at the right level, the needle isn't inserted fully, or the handwheel isn't adjusted to the right position.

    I have a Singer Promise Sewing Machine, but no automatic needle threader. How do I get one to install on my Sewing Machine. Do you have to buy a Sewing Machine with automatic Threader or what? Please comment. John

    • @lzyssewingroom2160
      @lzyssewingroom2160  8 лет назад

      Hi there John, I don't think it's something that can be added on. You could use a tool to feed the thread through. Dritz makes a classic one it's less than $2. It looks like a coin with a thin wire loop attached. You put the thread through the loop and then slide the loop through the eye of the needle. There are other styles too. Here's a link.

    Hello, sorry if this is an idiot question 💜 should the hook (crochet hook) you describe go through the eye of the needle on the machine? Or should it incase the needle either side? 😋 My machine actually has 4 forks/prongs that incase the needle either side? Or should these go through the eye of needle? Erica x

    • @Theliberaldiva
      @Theliberaldiva 4 года назад +2

      The 4 prongs are actually your cage. You need to look closely inside that cage for the hook. It's very thin. I have to use magnifying glasses and a magnifying glass to actually see mine, but I have old eyes.

    • @lzyssewingroom2160
      @lzyssewingroom2160  2 года назад +1

      Yes, @Rena Marroco is correct. The four-way structure is the cage that helps the hook-and-eye mechanism complete its action. It's possible that it's broken or bent.

    • @QuiltFinger
      @QuiltFinger 7 лет назад

      I don't think that there's a way to remove the entire needle threader. It might be possible to remove the tip. On my machine, that looks like a replaceable part. I would contact a sewing machine repair shop. (Sorry, I signed in with my other ID.)

    I am actually Leighvee Emberton... I am desperate to get my new CE1008 going to sew purses. I am a first time sewing machine owner and have used machines that are already operating, but this one is out of the box. It has been impossibile to get it running! I can use the needle threader and get the thread where it appears to be set up correctly, but I keep getting anE2 error message. First it was the bobbing thread going back into the machine and then it was the top thread bundling underneath the fabric. However, each time it was discovered by me manually rolling the dial... it has never worked automatically. Can anyone advise me on the E2 error message?

    • @QuiltFinger
      @QuiltFinger 7 лет назад

      Hi there Leighvee, in the back of your sewing machine manual (just before the index) Brother has a troubleshooting table. According to this chart, the E2 error message means that the buttonhole lever has been lowered. That's the company's universal error code for this issue. When the buttonhole lever is lowered, you can only sew buttonholes and bartacks.
      What you need to do is raise the buttonhole lever. On my machine, it's an L-shaped plastic piece right behind the needle threader. Make sure that it's all the way up. Let me know if this helps!
