    All you needed was whalers on the outside wall, then put kickers in from them to the rock. That would have locked it all in place. Feel better Natalie!

    You both are fantastic for doing a good job of bracing the forms and only having one place that was weak. The 'cat walk' was a good idea as well as cutting a hole in the plastic bucket to guide the concrete into the forms. Keep up the great work and big blessings to all of you.

    Great job, I think the outside bracing should have been wedged against the 2x4 instead of screwed to the side of it, but alls well that ends well.

    @BigJim-zh9gr 8 месяцев назад +3

    I apologize for saying anything about extra bracing for your concrete forms, looks like you were way ahead of me with the all thread rod and bracing. You are doing it right for sure. Bless your wife's heart she is fantastic and I mean that in a very respectful way. I know you are very proud of her. Hopefully, the bug she has will go away quickly.
    On your next pour if you really want to make sure of no blow outs secure the walls with double 2x8 walers. Do a search and it will show you how it is done. That is a lot of pressure on the walls. Years back when working pouring concrete on bridges for highways, that is what we used.

    The thing that I may suggest is doubling up on the studs on the seam it’s what we used to do. Everything else look great just like woodworking. You can never have enough clamps so with concrete you can never over do with bracing.

    Hi peeps.. Overall GREAT JOB. Hope and prayers for the wife to feel better soon. Glad that is all done.. We got about 8 to 10 inches of snow here in S. Oregon.. it's turned to rain now. Ps. GREAT\AWESOME editing skills.. watching all them quick cuts and the stack..

  • @RobertJLessard
    @RobertJLessard 8 месяцев назад +3

    Better more overkill on the all thread vs underkill. A blowout ruins the job and makes a huge mess.
    The only thing I would have done different is to run the all thread through your studs instead of between them. Very strong that way.

    A man next time use stiff backs across studs and brace to the dirt wall with straight 2 by 4 and inside walls, at every 3 feet at least, and overlap strong backs at corners and tie them together.

    If it was me, i'd take some tuba sixes and top of the Rebar just barely drill a hole. I have to wait through it set it on late on top of the Rebar tap it with a hammer, drill a hole where each one of those tap marks on our halfway through the board and then set it on top of there and then put your tarp Uber the tuba 6 and then you won't have that problem with. Returning it up as easy.

    If you have this issue with you rebar sticking up and think you might need to cover with a tarp, simply take a long 2 X 4 drill appropriate sized holes half way into the wood from the 4 inch wide face, so no deeper than 3/4" through the 1 1/2" thick material and put down on your rebar, then cover. You might need to take some duck tape and layer over the outside corners so it doesnt rip through the tarp.

    If you take a piece of pipe, just a little bit bigger than a hotel like a 1/2 inch pipe, whatever put in your vice and then you could slide that all thread in there and if you put it at 14 inches so you want or put it as thick as your from one side of your concrete form. To the other side, then put your nut in your washing on it and just cut it on each side or you're not worser. Then you'll know that fat particular one is already made up for that. Application, so when you're through, then you'll be able to use that 1 for 1. And then you do another one and another 1 and another 1 and another. And then eventually you will have it

    I use allthread all the time, this process was painful for me to watch. If anyone else does this just simply cut to length, trying to keep your cuts strait as possible. Then start threading your nuts on. When you get to those that wont start to thread on, use a hacksaw blade and drag it between the first and second threads where the first thread starts and continue threading your nuts on...simple

    Also, the concrete you want to use is Pee gravel mix not regular Stone mix but use P gravel, see your foam blocks much harder and way more accurate and easier to handle way harder you can get away with 6500 pound concrete it makes an R-value of R22 rate

  • @rexmorgan6445
    @rexmorgan6445 8 месяцев назад +2

    FYI When estimating the amount of concrete to order it is recommended to divide your cubic footage by 25 to get the cubic yards and not 27. This will allow for shrinkage and waste. Example you said you ordered 7.18 yards multiply that by 27 which gives you 193.86 cubic feet. Now divide that by 25 and you have 7.75 cubic yards. This probably would have been a little over but you would not of been short. Also would have saved a trip. I am assuming that you used 27 as your denominator. It is also good to figure it this way when you are estimating the cost of a project so that you make sure you have the funds to finish.
