That driver was awesome, out of the cab and raking concrete, unheard of in these parts. Then takes notice of his load and corrects it. Good companies and employees need loyalty when re odering.
That’s my dad, Trevor, running the truck. He’s been in the concrete industry for a long time. I’m glad to see he’s delivering quality and service every time he comes around.
I am impressed with how you corrected the order mistake, and I am super impressed with how the concrete company and their employee helped you out. Such integrity is unheard of these days.
Good morning Al and Gina. ☀️ A little hiccup there but all ended well. It was nice of the driver to help some with spreading the concrete. Congratulations on your first concrete pour with your own equipment. Great job!
Looks great, Gina and Al! So glad it worked out with Carroll - what a great company with good people! I'd say the floor you poured will turn out just fine. Perfect for what you wanted. Hope everyone is well and has a great week!😊
Good morning Lumnah family. The two of you did a good job working the cement. To bad you ran short of finishing. I think the animals will like it. Thanks for sharing

Good morning Lumnah family and friends, from Live Oak, Florida. We lost power Thursday night during the height of the hurricane, got power back Monday 09/30/24 at about 6:30 pm. We have no damage except big tree branches broken & on the ground, about a dump truck full it seems. The house about 45 feet north of us had a large tree fall on their house. Our little town is ok just a lor of damage. Our whole county lost power. We will rebuild.
Good morning to you,Al, Gina and all Lumnah family & friends. Always fun when it comes to concrete, a small hiccup but all is well. Good to have some of Ken's concrete tools on site. It's only a barn floor, but it still looks good ! Have a great week.
Kudos for getting all the concrete poured. Having a reputable company like Carroll is a plus. I'm sure you are tired and sore after a stressful day. The animals and chickens will appreciate their new run. Don't beat yourself up.things happen, but it got resolved. 👏 👏
I've done 2 fairly large concrete pours. The first time, I thought i would have extra. I was short, and the second pour way too much. 🤷♂️. I'm glad to see Carol Concrete is a customer oriented business. 👍
Good morning Al and Gina! great job with the concrete. I think next time you have a concrete delivery, you should have forms ready for extra concrete for whatever you might need around the homestead. a form that you can use for some reason or another.
Goooooood mooooorning AL, Gina and Olivia fellow viewers and all my friends Hoodie from Jamaica 🇯🇲, hopefully you are all safe and dry out there. Wow, concrete day
Al and Gina, you both work so well together. It is precious to watch. I am truly in awe, because I know how physically demanding concrete work is. Even before my husband died he said "We are not doing this again" and we subbed out concrete. We did have really good friends who owned a concrete business, as long as we were not in a time rush, they would come do our stuff when the crews would have been idle. At a very reasonable rate. There is so much value in community.
Great job Great attitudes dealing with issues. Not everyone could work threw and solve the problem. You two are setting good examples for those following you.
Yay, concrete today. Looking good while the concrete is pouring. Too bad you're a half yard short! It's great to see Ken's old power screed used again! It looks beautiful! The bull floating you were doing looked so good. I'm so glad you have Ken's old tools to use. It looks like you mostly blended the new concrete in. I like the texturing you did. I'm glad that you didn't have to pay for the last little bit you needed. They do seem to be a great company. I'm glad you got it poured! I didn't get to see you use the power trowel. Thanks for this video Lumnah family!
You guys did a great job with Justine the two of you. It’s great that you were able to buy the tools off of Ken so that you could do these things on your own. You guys have a blessed day.
My thoughts exactly.. these guys have been going full tilt from day one. Hoping they can get to a point where they can slow down just a tad and enjoy the fruits of their labor. 🙏
I drive a mixer in central PA, too much is ALWAYS better than not enough. If you don't have someplace for the extra we can take it back, it's not like you're forced to take it if you have nowhere to use it. To bring you another small amount you will pay an $80 small load charge along with what you need.
I have done concrete before, once did my next door neighbors driveway, and another driveway with my friend the contractor!!! don't like it at all, the rush, the get it done before it sets up, but you both did a great job! Still I don't envy such labor of Love.
Exactly what I was thinking. Also want to shout out the driver most parts they won't get out and they just charge you extra for having to sit there and wait.
He either didn't allow enough extra for the thicker edge beams or he assumed that the interior would be EXACTLY 4-inches thick. A 4-inch slab and 8-inch deep by 1-foot wide border beam comes out to exactly 8 cubic yards -- not the 7.5 yards Al calculated. Exactly 8 cubic yards was never going to be enough. He should have mentioned his final slab dimensions and concrete order in a video a couple of days ago and one of his viewers would have caught the mistake. An 8 yard order would only have worked if the forms and grade were all exactly perfect (i.e., a 4-inch thick slab with an edge beam that's exactly 12-inches wide by 8-inches thick). There's always slight variations and you're always a little too thick here and there (because you never want the slab to be too thin). For example, if the slab is slightly too thick and averages to 4.5-inches rather than 4.0-inches, that's his missing half a yard. Similarly if the border beam was supposed to be exactly 8-inches deep but he formed it with 2x10 form boards and forgot to put 2-inches of stone inside the form boards, that's also an extra half a yard. And he definitely didn't allow for the fact that the edge beam isn't exactly 12-inches by 8-inches. The stone at the edge tapers from 4-inches deep down to 8-inches deep at the edges. That taper easily adds an extra quarter yard over what it would take for a perfectly rectangular 12-inch by 8-inch edge beam. Regardless, he should have ordered at least 10% extra, not just an extra half a yard. And rather than making up forms for whatever leftover he ends up with, he could have just mounding up the extra on some scrap poly sheeting, and then once it begins to set up, trowel it into the shape of random pavers.
@@bruceadler-9410 you bring up some valid points. I also wondered the same and my best guess is that perimeter is not 12 inches because his bucket on the machine is closer to 16 inches. There are also voids in the gravel, despite it being compacted. Right there is another half yard.
Needed just one more person, but hey you made it work. Always sucks to come up short though I always add a yard to my order, but again you made it work.
The truck driver was awesome, not only was he pouring way slow for you to catchup put he got down and lend you a hand. My husband works as a production manager on a concrete plant in Mexico and he gets really annoy when clients are not prepared because they have a schedule to keep.

It is normal procedure in my area for driver to assist when necessary.
This driver isn't new to Al & Gina, he's delivered before at their homestead and helped them then.
A hefty tip for the driver is called for in this situation. $100 minimum, in my opinion.

so glad you dad has a great work ethic and didnt just leave it even tho he heard the difference in the sound of the paving coming out hugsssss

Wow what a great company Carroll concrete!! Gina great job working with the cement.
Al, you had the best driver I’ve ever seen. Lesson learned. I am impressed that you and Gina did it!❤
I am always impressed when their drivers get out and lend a hand during a pour - almost every time. A great company, Carroll.
