Alien Isolation: LV-426 and the Derelict ship

- A nostalgic moment for Alien fans: walk on the surface of LV-426, the location of the Alien and Aliens movies, and study the derelict ship. This scene in the game also tells the origin of the Alien drone in the game, and the background of the events on Sevastopol Station is found in the terminals along the game.
---
This video includes only minor spoilers of the game. Watching this will not spoil the game story, or any events, in my opinion, apart from the scene itself. This is just a highlighted nostalgic trip for all Alien fans.
---
ABOUT RESOLUTION OF THIS VIDEO: This is rendered in 4k resolution by upscaled rendering. The source material is NOT played in 4k, its in 1080p. I've learned that if you render 1080p original footage in upscaled 4k resolution the quality in RUclips is much higher than if rendered in 1080p. Its all about bitrate: RUclips 4k video has a bitrate limit of 45Mbps, whereas a normal 1080p video has only a bitrate limit of about 8Mbps, so 1080p material upscaled into 4k via rendering with video editor will "unlock" this huge bitrate benefit, provided that the video is rendered in 45Mbps bitrate or higher. So watching this video in 1080p (or even better, in 4k), with 1080p monitor, should result in much greater quality than a normal 1080p video (my previous material).
NOTE: hence, this video will not look so good if watched on higher-than-1080p monitor (as in 2k or 4k monitor), but the overall video quality is still much better compared to normal 1080p video. Игры
I loved getting a first-person exploration of the alien ship. The developers didn't HAVE to include this. They could have just described what happened in a recording. But they went full-on first person because they knew the fans would love it. And that's what GOOD fan-service looks like. It's not just "reference because reference."
The design in this game is phenomenal. I love that they've kept HR Giger's techno-sexual symbolism. The vaginal corridors of the derelict ship are so disturbing, especially when you consider that they effectively "give birth" to the horrible events that follow.
le0jay Just came back from playing this scene, it was amazing. Glad to see someone had thoughts exactly as mine. You can't really get the most out of this scene if you're not very well acquainted with H.R. Giger and Alien. Those two are my #1 morbid curiosity, loving this shit.
Definitely. You can also think of the space jockey as a dead fetus.. and the eggs.. well, that’s pretty self-explanatory.
This was definitely my favorite part of the game. I do wish they would have found the egg that was already hatched in Alien though, that would have been cool
Jacob Snyder me too
With Kane's pistol lying next to it
Yes they really should of done that.
"Alien life form. Looks like it's been dead a long time. Fossilized. Looks like it's growing out of the chair. Bones are bent outward, like he exploded from inside."

Aphotic Apathy Ridley really toyed with us when he told that it was nothing but a space suit!
anonymous I still believe that the Space Jockey and The Engineer are different species.
Aphotic Apathy Nope, its exclusively clear: they are of the same species.
avp.wikia.com/wiki/Engineer
Orcidea It doesn't make sense at all. H.R. Giger made the Space Jokey (pilot) over 20 feet tall lol. The Engineer is 10 feet tall max. And if you look closely (zoom) at the Space Jockeys face you can definitely see that it is no helmet.. but a actual face with a decayed tongue and pair of eyes. The pre sequel continuity has some flaws regarding the Biomechanoid pilot ( H.R. Gigers creation) and trying to compare it to The Engineer. Then again The Space Jockey was discovered on a different moon than The Engineer..
Aphotic Apathy Its pretty much in the hands of Ridley Scott and his fellow writers to determine the facts, new and old. I understand where you're coming from, and I agree with those facts, but it seems they've made a sort of a generalization with the matter: its all the engineers, both of them. But who knows, maybe the original Space Jockey is some sort of another breed of the same race. A bigger, different type of Engineer. Like a "warrior" type or something, whereas the Engineers in Prometheus are more like scientists. A separate caste if you will :)
That descent into the egg chamber, Goosebumps
Ulfbert Whole scene was goosebumps! :)
6:12. Even though I already knew what I was going to find, I still got a fit of joy when I saw the ship while playing the game.
One of the coolest moments of the game. Brilliant stuff
I can now understand why "Alien(1979)" is considered as a quasi adaptation of "At the mountains of Madness" written by H.P Lovecraft. This scene which is very reminescent of the LV-426 exploration scene in "Alien" has a very Lovecraftian vibe to it.
I can’t even begin to describe the feelings I felt during this segment of the story. Seeing the derelict ship after walking up the crevasse in the rocks, entering through those disturbing vaginal shaped ducts, it all felt so eerie and the atmosphere was so foreboding. H.R. Giger’s artistic style is just perfect and “living” it felt so real.
>It's only a large pale human in a suit
Thank you Ridley...
I know what you mean, but here (and also in the movie) you can see, that the dead pilot can't be a "human" in a suit, because the whole proportion of his body are nonhuman (the wrong position of the head, it's size and no neck, the wide shoulders, the realy long arms and the big chest, also the open mouth under the trunk, shows, that is a head and not a helmet), and doesn't fit withe the gray dildos from Promethshit.
Prometheus is canon like A:CM is canon and both are shit!
Battlecooky DC It *is* a suit.... How do you know where his actual body is and in what position in that huge thing?
***** They did delete half of the beginning scene. But I think you have a point, maybe they should've deleted the whole thing to begin with.
***** I was too enchanted by the visuals to mind the flawed and mysterious plot.
It was a real treat to a die hard fan, just like this game. They even used some of Giger's works that hadn't been used in Alien.
So much respect to the developers for including this section and making it so long. I remember first play through hoping for a mention of LV-426 and was so pleasantly surprised.
The Derelict Ship looks Amazing!
I like the detail of the helmets getting dirtier as time goes on
I had a nerdgasm when I saw this. HAIL THE SPACE JOCKEY!
+Prodigious Berserker any alien fan would love doing this part. walking in the Derelict, discovering the space jockey and eggs, all in the classic alien style instead of blasting and grenading through the Derelict like in most games.
@@Gridseeker I like the use of the long, dark tunnel they walk through before they get to the Space Jockey; it frames the scene as you approach it, centering the player's vision on it, and building the grandiosity of it all.
@@thesprawl2361 The pace of this game is slow but in a good way, just like the first film.
@@Gridseeker Yes. It understands the restraint of the original.
I still think there's a great FPS to be made about Cameron's Aliens, where there are lots of dangerous Xenos, but you're armed heavily, and they are deadly but vulnerable. Colonial Marines fucked that up, but give the license to someone good and I'd love to see it.
But in terms of making an atmospheric horror game about the original Alien, this one was close to flawless in execution.
*Even the Beacon looks like Engineer-Tech.*
so much mystery and intrigue. somethings are best left alone and do not need explaining.
Hat's off to H.R.GIGER he's art and sculpture's are amazing.
Check out his art from the movie dune.
Only part in the game, when you´re not nervous.
Scenes like this make me wonder how this game could have gotten a bad review from IGN.
+Rylee Bers because it's not CoD and they probabely didn't get paid for reviewing this game.
Haha Cod is so easy to rip on.
@@DiscusvissenRocken The Xenomorph AI is janky to be honest
@Austin McCanless 5.9 is above average. I say that's fair. That means its better than more than 50% of games. I know these companies put most games over 5 but regardless thats still a above average/good game.
@@hellboy6536 And Call of Duty Infinite Warfare is a 8 and Terminator Resistance is a 4? IGN’s just a dumb company, that’s all lol
This company got the game right.
Now if they could remaster the garbage, Colonial Marines, we'd be in business.
+DwayneHicks426 Some things cannot be salvaged...
You could polish the graphical issues with ACM as much as you like, the game's story and script would still be a giant steaming turd.
Loads of people have probably said it on here by now, but damn this was my favorite part of the game. Imagine watching Alien for the first time and you're like "I wonder what it was like on that planet." and this game comes around and drops you right on it. Just amazing.
Thanks a lot David! You bastard.
It's great how they addressed the distress beacon. They even made it resemble the tech you see in Prometheus where it involves The engineers technology requiring touch instead of pressing a button. This actually ties in extremely well because it makes sense why In Aliens nobody living on Lv-426 was aware of the distress beacon that the Nostromo was able to Pick up.
Yes, indeed. Well written piece of canon lore 👍🏻
So that's why the warning signal was never a factor in Aliens.
I loved this part of the game. Felt like I was living out the original movie. Really well done. I love how the game respected the series so well.
The crew's reaction of sawing and heading towards derelict spaceship, as if they are hanging there every sunday. No "My god or Wow", no scare, no amazement, nothing.
They did a splendid job on the graphics but I'm not a huge fan of some of the QTE animations. Other than that I would play the shit out of this.
This mission was particularly interesting. The visor really seems to play tricks on the viewer. When he entered the distress beacon room I could have sworn I saw a predator using a cloaking device.
+Gemini Sigma where?
Gemini Sigma dang. I gotta rewatch this.
I love this, but damn I just realized they messed up the height of the hallways and now I can’t get it out of my head.
I just saw Prometheus and I am so amazed by the detail of the ship!
Is this weird? Someone suggested that the derelict ship was alive at some point, and the space jockey was a part of it.
It was once a living organism, and the pilot was an extension of it
Whether it was a natural organism or purposely grown is unknown
Imagine how it would feel to explore a real alien ship with its unearthly crew
The mixture of terror and excitement to stand and gaze upon something not of this world
“Let’s get the hell out of here!”
“Nah, I’ll wait until something horrible happens.”
Good to see you up and running again! =)
BUT PROTO!!!
idk what to say.XD
I know this has nothing to do with your comment on this vid,but is there any specific video that I could comment thorie ideas on that's convenient for you?(●_●)?
Toxic Thunder
Probably the theory videos, there is a message button too, twitter, my email, straight random comments too.
ProtoMario ok!thanks!:)
Thanks bro! :)
absolutely mesmerising !!
According to Giger's own vision, the derelict was also an organism, and the one that produced those eggs. Much better than queen's and all that hive crap.
Welcome back to the youtube seen orc havent seen you in a while :)
Amazing video!
I would love an entire game dedicated to being stuck on LV-426 and the derelict ship. The visuals are outstanding. The atmosphere is as good as it gets.
im liking all the new videos
We have a million dollar medical device that can, at best, identify an egg as nothing more than a shadow.
In my headcanon the Space Jockey isn't an Engineer it's a mysterious advanced alien biopunk type species who is biologically apart of the spaceship itself.
I was a bit disappointed the Facehugger didnt jump in game in first person view.
What was the point of cutting the level with a scene transition if it didn't switch from Marlowe to another character?
this is most likely just my knowledge of aliens movies talking but if i saw those eggs and the goo inside the ship i would have bolted it back to the ship and demand to fly away from that place asap x-x
But just incase I would of warned everybody and armed up. I also would of shot the alien the moment I came out of the chest.
How would they even know how to disable the beacon from a totally alien technology?
Suspense of disbelief. Universal commonality between all intelligent technological designs for humanoid creatures with bipedal evolution. Pick one 😂👍🏻
Thankyou for this. I gave up on Alien Isolation after about a third of the game - it's the only game I've ever played that was too scary, too tense, for me to find it enjoyable. But I'm a bit angry with myself after seeing this.
very cool orc
I am also huge Alien fan since the very original ridley scot film
there no a more beast mix of horror & sci fi than this series
it is truly scary beyond words to think that this aliens are bio organic weapons
also I love how this game is very loyal & legit to it's original sorce, like if it is a true sequel
are you ever going to do a full run?
I mean I cannot buy this game right now cs I just got MIGHTY SHADOW OF MORDOR & will be getting Evil within very soon
for the record LOVE SEGA so much :))
Full run? Maybe. I dont know. My basic long running gameplay videos are not that interesting usually, since I dont do voice commentary :P
Orcidea don't say that bro
you are always interesting to watch
besides the greatness of this game is all what matters at the end of the day
I wiil love to see a solid walkthrough since I will not buy this game any time soon
already bought shadow of mordor & Evil within
so I will like to see some1 doing this
I think you will be perfect since you also are a huge Alien fan
btw brother Orc
just to show i haven't forgotten you
here is a link
hope you been doing great Orc-bro

would have been better if that last part wasnt a cutscene
joshua altobar I thought the same thing
+joshua altobar That's how games are today; You do all the walking and boring stuff and then when something interesting is about to happen, the game switches to a cutscene. It's because the designers think players today are too stupid to actually play the game all the way through, so they insert cutscenes so that the players can sit back and take a breather after all the hard work of walking around.
And if anyone disagrees with me about designers thinking gamers today are stupid, how else do you explain that almost every game now tells them what to do at each step of the way? "Press [X] to open door!", "Press [O] to search body!" Maybe once as a tutorial is fine, but games today put those messages on the screen throughout the entire game. The only reason to do is if you truly believe that gamers are too stupid to remember how to open a door, or search a body, or whatever it is that they've already done dozens of times before.
lurkerrekrul if only that wasn't true :/
+joshua altobar I often joke that a decade from now, FPS games will constantly flash "Press [W] to walk forward!" on the screen and every enemy will have a giant "Shoot Here!" sign over their head with a arrow pointing down to them. The way games are going, it might turn out to be an accurate prediction.
lurkerrekrul Come on... it's obvious that watching the woman being attacked from afar through Marlowe's eyes would not have been suspenseful or provided a sufficient jump scare. That's why they went for a cinematic view.
When i got inside the ship i knew this game was something.
How tall engeneers was moving in corridors so small? I don't get it
FEAST!!!
How many times was the derelict ship visited? 4 times including the movies?
Orc, do you plan on doing a commentary any time soon? that'd be interesting (btw you rock)
Done some already. Skyrim Warrior Initiation and couple of Farming Simulator 2013 guides as an example. Anyway, commentary just isnt my thing, so dont expect it to become a standard or anything on my channel, like, ever :P
I repeat, all other priorities rescinded.
the derelict ship is an organic ship ? The Giger's concept art is amazing....
*Engineer-Tech is organic in appearance.*
Nostalgic, but the moment the egg room comes up, the game switches to a cut scene. Way to ruin the suspense game developers.
+Imaculata SOP for games today. You never get to do the really interesting stuff. It's more important to the designers to make it look cinematic than to create a truly immersive game.
lurkerrekrul
I agree. Its a shame that so many developers have adopted this SOP. I wish they would do away with the cut scenes, and just let you play.
+Imaculata It's one of my biggest complaints about games. It used to happen in some older games, but not to the same extent. Raven was particularly bad about doing this in their games. You'd be playing a level and it would just switch to a cutscene without any warning. And it was always something that didn't need a cutscene, like a character talking, or something exploding.
Other than thinking that gamers are too dumb/lazy to play a game that doesn't have intermissions, the only rational explanation I can come up with is that the developers are afraid the player will miss seeing something happen unless they force them to watch it in a cutscene.
bruh, thats what that last guy did, stick the face close to a creepy ass looking egg thing
thx u sir
Is this the same exact engineer ship that was in the first movie? Or a different one
This is the one and only.
Hey I about to get fallout New Vegas I saw your guide but I want to know how did you get the tribal pack and is.that only on pc thanks
That was pre-order bonus. I dont know if you can get it anymore on any platform. Maybe they sell them as a separate DLCs.
Well I'm going to get the game of the year edition maybe it''ll be thier. Also nice guide and can you make a guide for fallout 3 character build
Orcidea All platforms Orcidea I have it for Xbox 360.
So is this a bonus mission or just later in the game ?
Just later in the game.
oopsie face hugged
Orc, will you be doing the witcher in the future
Witcher 3? Maybe, we'll see. It definitely seems interesting :)
Is this part of the main story campaign?
I can't remember anymore 🤷🏻♂️
Okay... if Catherine was wearing her helmet, how did the facehugger use her as a host?
The creature melts its way thru any helmets. This was established in the first movie in 1979 already.
Acid for blood. Don't you remember what happened to Kane?
What I remember, is the beacon on that derelict alien spaceship was a single metal bar moving up and down in a slot 1 1/2 inches wide by 18 inches long, taking 12 seconds to move up, and another 12 seconds to move down again, it must have been powered by gamma rays or solar cells from Zeta 2 Reticuli, as it has being going for centuries.
ok
No, it's not in the film, it is in the book as you have remembered.
sooo that's how all this started?
Sorry if I seem rude but yea, have you seen Alien?
Jake The Camper Im sure he referes to the beginning of the game, Alien Isolation.
Its a dlc or what? I played this game 4 years ago and I didn't made that mission
No, should be part of the story.
where is this expansion or dlc?
It's part of the base game.
ahh ok thanks
It's pretty but I'm annoyed by the little tar drops on your visor not moving accordingly with your helmet/visor and not changing shape or ratio depending on if you face the wind or not.
Playing this on LSD is something :o
Ha. I was just saying this scene looked lysergic, trippy.
is it the same as prometheus?
No, this is a different ship, on a different planet/moon. This is the place from the original Alien film (1979).
The movie alien didn't take place in 1979 lmao, it takes place in like 2150, the movie Prometheus takes place in 2050
Shockwave Muncher
The movie was made in 1979. Thats what he meant with that year.
Orcidea ahhh ok
***** AVP films are not canon for any of the independent franchises.
*Sigh*....I wish we had a new metroid.... Were supposed to get one for every Alien movie, so maybe with alien 5 coming soon! lol
First everything
Scott would be smart to explore the engineers, their place in history and wtf up exactly is their agenda? Another AVP movie? Yuck.
Alien Romulus is coming in August 2024.
