I'm happy to see the "Nature Wizard" playstyle supported in the PHB. I've avoided Druid for many years because of its overemphasis on Wild Shape.
The subclasses all sound fun. We don't yet have the mechanical text, but every PHB subclass presented so far has seemed solid. There haven't been any obvious stinkers.
I'm very much sold on the new druid. I was worried about using wild shape to use find familiar, but being able to convert spells into wild shapes is perfect for the way I love to play druids! Now I can have a friend and also be friend shaped!
The familiar thing was introduced in Tasha’s book, and I don’t mind it.
It seems a lot better now cause it does not say a time limit like before so as long as it does not die it should not go away even on long rest@@susannahmitchell5558
10:45 “the Archdruid feature has been majorly enhanced”
“whenever you roll initiative, if you have no uses of wild shape left, you get a use back…” etc etc.
For those of y’all that forgot, the old Archdruid feature said “you can use your wild shape and unlimited number of times” 😂 so no. That is absolutely not an enhancement
So now to keep using wild shape, you have to keep expending your spell slots using that new lower level feature
Get 1 level of Monk and Advance as Druid of the moon. In wild shape brown bear AC increases and you have the attacks of the Bear. Kung Fu PANDA
Personally, calling it "magician option" while giving only enhancements for cantrip (even at higher lv) feels somewhat confusing.
Loving these changes-as a stars druid I always find myself wishing I could get more uses of wildshape without a short rest
Oof. Druidic buff helps a lot. Yessss. I always wanted to have animal friends as a druid but getting a companion is so costly that it wasn't worth it and in lower levels it wasn't an option atall
01. New feature. Primal order magic or martial......I like choices.
02. Adding Wisdon to checks that didn't have it before. .....cool
03. Easier to talk to animals ........nice
04. Wildshape bonus action.........awesome.
05. Using wildshape to cast find familiar........cool thanks Tasha's
06. Speaking while in wildshape........amazing.
07. 7th and 15th level Elemental fury - upgrade for attacks or spells.
08. Wild resurgence - regain wild shape or spells by trading off like the sorcerer but with a limit in the spell end. There is no limit on the spells converted into wildshapes.
09. Beast Spells - casting spells while in wildshape and cantrip upgrades.
10. Wild shape when you roll initiative if you have none.
11. Aging slows down for RP.
We added a couple of these features using the Unearthed Arcana material and it’s been really fluid in combat. Our Circle of Wildfire Druid can use a bonus action to summon the fire spirit, after which it does its AOE thing, then she can still take a full action.
I'm looking forward to trying out the revised Circle of the Stars and the new Circle of the Sea.
Also, going along with the nature theming, I mentioned a creature from Spanish lore in the other video on the Druid. So, head on over there to see that whole rant.
Wait.... Wildshape spell conversion??? Did someone say Coffeedruid?????
So I can still get archdruid infinite shapes at level 6????
cant wait for a druid to be a goddamn bear and sounding like this bear is a chainsmoker
Or bear that sounds like Mike Tyson... And does what Mike does to ears.
Where's the last bit where they talked about the Stars Druid? It's gone
Wrong channel.
Are these new rules final? If it is, it is a big improvement to my Level 4 Druid/Level 1 Ranger.
I feel like circle of the sea is redundant. We could have just kept Circle of Land and selected “Coast”. Wild they dropped fan favorites like Spores and Wild Fire for it.
Nothing is dropped. Everything in 5e works under '5.5' ruleset. These are just the classes that got done for the Core books. It's likely we'll see more reworked subclasses down the road when this edition gets its equivalent of Xanathar's or Tasha's.
@@DimiusG right, but you can’t use those subclasses with the new baseline classes.
If you want to be a Shepard Druid, you can’t use the 2024 Druid Baseline
@Yoshwayy idk how true that is, supposedly every single thing, from spells, items, backgrounds, species, classes and subclasses are all backwards compatible
So no owlbear..... lol damn, also who the heck uses a druid as a melee fighter outside of wildshape?
(Looks at pathfinder 1e/2e, dnd 3.5e and to some degree 4e) I mean it’s been done, just 5e butchered that playstyle for druids.
The Druid is SUPPOSED to be a versatile class that can heal/tank/dps be range/melee and such. 5e heavily restricted rhay with how the damn subclass system worked and wildshape limitations pretty much bottling down one direction.
Druid of the spores
The only thing they have to do to make owlbear a thing is to reclassify owlbears as beasts instead of monstrosities, as they were in earlier editions
You called?
Arcana, nature, and intelligence checks are pretty rare in game. Certainly not common enough to be path defining. One extra cantrip COULD be strong depending on how the spells shake out, however I doubt just one will be enough to make the magician path worth taking unless the subclass is strong enough to make up for it. Not saying it has to be broken or anything, but it certainly feels underwhelming and underpowered.
So has the restriction on metal armour been removed?
SO EXCIED FOR NEW DRUID!!!
Bring back à la carttip to the marketplace
wow took the nerf bat to wildshape and tried to sell as an upgrade. F-That
Someone watched a certain influencer's video about getting something in exchange for your pre-order I see.
Did they take inspiration from D&D Beyond doing that for years now?
@@JerodLycett You would think so, but in that case I would have thought they would have offered it from the gate, not as an obvious hasty post-production edit the week after the influencer's video dropped. But hey, I may be wrong.
Fix the marketplace
I'm sorry but this sounds more like a super hero characters than D&D its like you have to put minimum effort to get maximum results, nice if you want to play a game where there is zero chance of loosing or getting hurt or even dying, no jeopardy no scare thrills no problems, most characters by 5th will be super powerful and it will feel like hollow victory. No thanks but hey if yoh want to keep playing.
Its pretty easy for a DM to kill the characters if they want to
What does anything in this post mean
@@stargrace420 probably an unprocessed bunch of negative emotions
Depends on what monsters and challenges your DM throws at you. Speaking of which, the new Monster’s Manual hasn’t been revealed yet, so we don’t know what changes are happening there.
Also, I play RPGs because I enjoy the role playing and shared storytelling aspects of them. As long as that’s present, that’s all that matters to me.
