Great reaction. Hard core Beatles fans do love George! Eric Clapton was George's friend and Harrison talked him into coming along to play on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" because he felt John and Paul weren't giving the song their full efforts. Having Clapton show up snapped everyone to their "best behaviour" and the result is one the BEatles best tracks. Some other George gems are "Taxman" "I, Me, Mine" "I Want to Tell You" and for good fun "Piggies".
During this period, George was reading I Ching. A form of Chinese philosophy based on randomness and what ever happens is meant to be. He opened up a random book to a random page and saw the words 'Gently weeps'. He set the book down and wrote this all time classic. Excellent video HB. Cheers, RNB
I’m glad someone commented this. I used to give memorabilia tours for Hard Rock and my location had George’s original lyrics, and I told this story a thousand times.
That must have been a lot of fun giving those tours B77. Which location did you work out of? The Hard Rock Café in South Lake Tahoe has some awesome Beatles memorabilia. Cheers, RNB
IIRC (which is not something that should be relied upon) in the slightly different version I heard, it was a technique for stimulating creativity. You open a book randomly, and take the last word of the left-hand page and the first word of the right-hand page, then write something around those two words. The words George got were 'gently' and 'weeps'. But this technique may well have been based on Taoist ideas, as expounded in the I Ching. After all, it's all connected... :-)
I am using George Harrisons explanation for the songs origins. I am in no position to personally discuss Eastern philosophy's. I'm a lowly bass player and I Ching (et all) is way above my pay grade. PC, you have a much better grasp on the subject than I ever will. Interesting that John Lennon lists I Ching in his litany of things he DOESN'T believe in. In his song GOD from The Plastic Ono Band album r(ecorded in the Autumn of 1970). John also lists, magic,, the Bible, tarot, Buddha, Jesus, yoga, Gita, Hitler, mantra, Kennedy, kings, Elvis, Zimmerman (Dylan) and last, but certainly not least, Beatles. Cheers, RNB
@@ricknbacker5626 Well, George's memory is probably more reliable than mine on the subject! But I don't think the explanations are necessarily contradictory. Allowing random 'fate' to decide things is based on an idea of going with the 'flow' (or the Tao or Way or Path) or natural unfoldment of everything, with an underlying understanding that there is some sort of vast unified field behind everything that exists... therefore, 'it's all connected'. This is expounded much better than I can describe it in a old classic from the 1970s, the Tao of Physics, which I highly recommend, although I would assume the science must be a bit dated by now.. But anyway, IIUC, it's both an ancient mystical and a plausible scientific concept. All in One, One in All, etc... I don't know what you think, but I have wondered about John's 'God' song, whether what he's really ranting against is 'belief' itself. Because obviously the Beatles for example did exist, whether you 'believe' in them or not! Maybe what he was objecting to is idolising things in a way that's really 95% one's own projections. So there might be a grain of truth in them, but the impulses of religion, or Beatlemania, or fashions for mystical preoccupations (like the I Ching, astrology, Tarot, magic etc in the later 60s to 70s) can sometimes lead people to adopt beliefs that are quite superficial and may be more of a psychological prop, or escapist fantasy, or ego trip than a genuine means to greater enlightenment. Some people did get really obsessed with some of this stuff - I remember hearing of one guy who would throw the I Ching (ie use it as an oracle to get pointers to what to do next) every hour, thus becoming totally dependent on it and unable to do anything without it. I'm pretty sure John and Yoko were as much into it all as anyone, at least for a while. But at some point, as John was getting deep into the Primal Scream therapy and really facing the truth, digging into all his inner demons, he may have come to the point of needing to clear out all the half-baked ideas he may have used previously as emotional props, and get down to something more basic and human and vulnerable, without the quasi-mystical props.

With 3 geniuses in one band , mind-blowing then Ringo who ain't no slouch either . From.5mile radius of each other at 1 time in history. What's the chances? Legends
And this song has Eric Clapton, so 5 legends on one track
Beatles/Savoy Truffle was written and performed by George Harrison. From the White Album.
'Something', written by George is amazing too.........
On his own , he would have been a star . But being in a band with two of the top song writers the world has ever know , make it hard to shine
I think you’ll flip out over how crazy John shows out on vocals on Yer Blues. That’s from the same album as this song, Helter Skelter & Happiness Is A Warm Gun. IMHO their heaviest song!
Beatles fans know how vital that George was to the band. The casual fan of the Beatles or just the average music listener that just hears whatever is on the radio or comes up on their feed don't know or care. One of the songs that George wrote that even Beatles fans do appear to gloss over is Savoy Truffle. I love that song.
All The Beatles separately are brilliant. Together they were Fire! A Super Nova. John, Paul, George & Ringo. Something is another beautiful George Harrison - Beatles song. Here Comes The Sun - another George Harrison gem.
Aww George my favorite Beatle so smooth always and so romantic and the quiet one love him RIP 🖤🖤🖤
Eric Clapton is the only guitarist to play on a Beatles record, a John Lennon record, a Paul McCartney record, a Ringo Starr record, and of course, his buddy George Harrison, on multiple of his solo records.
And Patty Boyd
clapton played live with lennon ( live peace in toronto ) but i'm not sure is on a lennon album
@@sandrotavini8838 I think only on 'Cold Turkey' besides the 'Live Peace in Toronto' album.
@@sandrotavini8838 Also the Dirty Mac where Clapton, Keith Richards, John Lennon, and Mitch Mitchell played Yer Blues live.
@@sandrotavini8838 Live Peace In Toronto album.
“It’s All Too Much” is another great George song that doesn’t get mentioned enough.
"My Sweet Lord" George Harrison.
💜💛💙💖
I do love that song except the Hare Krishna part.
@@immaculateheart1267 The Hare Krishna part was the whole point of the song, fool.
I like the melody but not the prayer to a false God, but I will refrain from calling you a name as you did me.
George was known as the quiet Beatle. He was an excellent musician, writer, and singer. He really came into his own when the Beatles all went their separate ways. Geroge is my second favorite Beatle after John.
Here Comes The Sun is my favorite song of all time, and it's written by George...well worth a listen.
He was overshadowed by Paul and John lol That's why ppl didn't talk about him AS MUCH !
His best songs IMHO (with The Beatles) are Here Comes The Sun (my pers fav), Something, While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Piggies, Within You Without You, Taxman, I Want To Tell You, Love You To and if you feel like taking a trip on LSD land, Listen to "Blue Jay Way" lol
George is my favourite Beatle hands down the fact he was able to produce such masterpieces behind Paul and John is incredible
Something, Give Me Love, My Sweet Lord are all masterpieces of George Harrison
One of my top 10 favorite Beatles songs.
A song about people not caring about one another - great message
Two of my favorite Harrison songs are "What is Life" and "Give me Love".
"Here Comes The Sun" is as good as it gets!
The Beatles were visitors from the future.
I love George Harrison. He's my favorite Beatle. He was very deep.
George was the shy one,who never knew how powerful his voice was and what he had to say people wanted to hear ,but we knew when he sang,,he met it
George was my mother's favorite Beatle, and today I really know why. This song, Something, Her comes the Sun and his low profile and eternal smile...He was the boy next door. Just lovely George!!
Maybe the best Beatles song, certainly in the Top 5.
George has always been my favorite. The 2nd best version is the tribute to George with Prince making his guitar wail. Best guitar solo by Prince
George is my FAVORITE Beatle. ❤️
When you finally react to Tomorrow Never Knows it will be in the top 5.
That's a Lennon song but you're right it's fucking amazing
Please!
A few more of George's Beatles songs to recommend are "Only A Northern Song", "It's All Too Much" and "Within You, Without You" to hear him on sitar. ✌️😎
As well as tambura, swarmandal;[525] harmonica, comb and tissue paper; handclaps, tambourine, & maracas.
@@kevinlakeman5043 Man, I was typing a reply to ask about tissue paper and to ask how, then I remembered doing the paper and comb instrument as a kid! LOL!! 😁 Never mind. LOL! ✌️😎
Also on Sitar was Norwegian Wood
Forget if that was George or John
"Love You To" too.
I love him. One of my fav songs.
George is so amazing that he would let the others be the focus of attention. They called him ‘the quiet beatle’
George is my favorite, Something is the greatest love song ever written.
My favorite Beatle song written by my favorite Beatle George
Yes!! Beatles baybee!! My favorite band EVER! I have no more to say except..do more Beatles!!....please?😁✌🎶❤
Love your reaction. You want us to talk about George? No problem. Has been favorite “forever” and his solo career is underrated too. I listen to his music every day. His All Things Must Pass album is timeless.
George also sings "Here Comes The Sun" and "Something". Songs you've already reacted to.
what is life/my sweet lord/somthing ....there is SO MUCH george GOLD out there
The legend himself, Eric Clapton, played the guitar on this one
He also went on to be part of the amazing “travelling willberrys.’
George was brilliant, he was the coolest Beatle!!! You need to check out The Traveling Wilburys!!! It is a Super group with George, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty!!!
