Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.

To put this in context. The Rolling Stone magazine had put out a list of the greatest guitarist and they didn't put Prince on it. This was him showing them and the rest of the world how stupid they were for not putting some RESPECT on his name.

Yes. Because he chose to do pop instead of rock. Where his guitar skills went largely unappreciated by most his fans.
      Gross mis-allocation of talent.

To be fair, this is not a tribute to the Beatles but to George Harrison and I am sure you know that is his son playing the acoustic behind Tom Petty on stage. It must have been great for him (and he looks so much like his father).

RIP Prince. Not only did he kill the solo, he played it with such swag and style . . . legendary badass-ary! He was truly the Mozart of our time. If you have not already seen his halftime performance at the Super Bowl, you should check it out. GOAT.

This was when George Harrison was inducted into the 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Great tribute to George & this is one of his best songs that he wrote. Dhani Harrison (George's son) was playing guitar with all the other mega stars that night. Sadly we have lost Tom Petty & Prince now.

  • @j.jennings1722
    @j.jennings1722 6 месяцев назад +11

When the producers of the tribute called Prince to ask if he wanted to do the solo, he agreed; however, when they said he needed to arrive at a certain time to practice with the rest of the group, Prince told them not to worry, "I've got this." The producers were confused and were like, no we really need you here for practice. Once again, Prince told them he would arrive before the performance and that "I got this." They shrugged and said, if he says he has it, we gotta trust him, after all he's Prince. And, as we all know now, he sure did have it. He came onstage right before the solo, slayed it, tossed the guitar in the air and strutted offstage.
I imagine he had practiced that solo a few times already in his life and had dreamed of playing Clapton's part in the song. I'm almost certain that he had been ready for years to play that solo. The other stars in the tribute were all consummate professionals, so I'm sure they had no problem going with his flow. The song is fantastic! ✌❤

BTW, I've always said that if Prince had made a career in Rock instead of Pop, he would have given Hendrix a run for his money as one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived. Don't get me wrong, I love most of his music, but his potential as a guitarist was incredible.

Prince showed up for rehearsal but the other guy kept playing his part. Prince then left, he and the producer agreed for him to only do the outro solo and he killed it. Yes the other group members were surprised by his solo.

Steve winwood is playing keyboards, and isn't seen often in this. The guy with the tambourine is going full ham! Earlier that day Rolling Stone had listed the 100 greatest guitarists, and Prince was left off. He wasn't too happy...and I think there was a bit of a FU as well as a tribute to George from him. We all go back to see where the hell the guitar goes to!

Good recommendation. If I remember rightly this was the concert where McCartney takes the lead on "All Things Must Pass" which was kind of fitting, given that it could have been a Beatles song had Lennon and McCartney been a bit more open to allowing space for more of George's songs.

I've read & heard criticism by George's fans of Prince's performance, saying he wasn't there to honor George, but to prove a point to his own critics, and to basically showboat.

Prince was also inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame the same night & he performed his own stuff for that. This was an legendary bonus that the producers thought up some time before the show. Prince went to rehearsal but the other guitarist was taking all the solos, so Prince told Tom Petty, ok, no problem, just leave the final solo for me. He didn't show them what he was going to do, he just set everything on fire when the night came, lol! There's a whole NYT article about this show, with interviews of the people there. Tom Petty said he knew something really special was happening so he just let Prince keep going. You can see Prince keep looking at Tom for the green light to continue. For Prince to shine that bright with all those other legends on stage, it's was magical.

Prince beat Mozart, he mastered over 14 instruments by age 17, he could dance, sing any note, rap, he wrote, arranged, performed ALL his music, including wrote hits for other artists, he has covered almost every genre, Metal, Punk rock, hip hop, pop, r&b, soul, jazz, blues, country, ambient, classical, techno, house, disco, instrumental. The Multi-Genre God. He could play anything, and your favorite artists have been deeply influenced by him. Corey Taylor, Whitney Houston, Steve Vai, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Lil uzi vert, H.E.R. , Paul Mccartney, all worship Prince to just name a few.
Prince recorded his first 2 albums at 16 all by himself, all instruments, lyrics, arrangement, composition & vocals were all by him. He was such a prodigy, that music executives wanted proof, they would fly across country just to see if he could really play all instruments, because it was so unheard of. Prince has over 50 official released albums and when he passed, they found over 10 thousand unreleased Prince music in his vault. He then came into the business and was the FIRST to fight for artists rights, and he WON. He would write "slave" on his cheek and go to meetings protesting against the industry. Prince was also the first artist to sell his music on the internet. You are talking about the most talented artist we will ever see.

You see the look on Tom Petty's face and he is obviously impressed with Prince - and Petty was playing every night with Mike Campbell who is a guitar god himself!

Is that a killer cover tune or what? Great singing and Prince smashed it. Great video and commentary.
