As someone in a band myself, I love how Prince goes off, but still knows Petty is guiding the song. True professionals
Prince's guitar needed a cigarette after that.
Watching a ton of certified legends play off each other and straight up jam and improvise on such an important performance is absolutely amazing to watch. Prince and Tom Petty kept eyeing each other because Prince wasn't supposed to play his solo for that long, but when he looked at Tom during it, Tom smiled and nodded for him to keep going. True respect all around.
This is one of the 100 reasons that I love Prince.
Patrice is a legend RIP
That goofy hat worn by Jeff Lynne was given to him by Harrison (as you say, don't judge a book by it's cover). They were pals.
You are so right - Prince was the man. May he rest in peace. He should still be here. :(
This is actually a George Harrison (R.I.P.) song. His son, Dhani, is the young kid behind Tom Petty (blond mop hairdo).
This was the induction of George Harrison into the Songwriters Hall of Fame(?) They were playing a tribute to him. Rumor has it that Prince had a point to prove bc Rolling Stone(?) magazine has just released their list of Top 100 Guitar Players in the World and he wasn't on it. He knew that the music industry was going to be in the room that night. He was intent on showing them why he not only should be on that list, but should be at or near the top of that list.
George's individual induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame post humusly. He had been inducted before when the Beatles were inducted. Prince was inducted the same year.
Did you write that on shrooms or acid?😂
The way I heard it (and I'm not doubting your version!) was Petty had read the article and told Prince about it. Prince and Tom Petty were good friends. He then handed Prince a guitar and told him "go slay them." It just showed the ignorance of that magazine.
Facts!
Also need to mention that George Harrison’s wife wanted only friends of her husband for this tribute not Prince!
Every musician on that stage is a legend in their own right!
From Tom Petty to British drummer Steve Ferrone which at one time or another recorded and tour with the late Beetle George Harrison!
This Concert was amazing and should always cherished as we lost Prince and Petty!🙏😔
No it isn't, George's son in black hair to Tom's left and right on video in black hair....looking just like his Dad in early Beatles days. Who is this blond mop hairdo are you talking about? Also is spelled blonde
I love seeing Tom Petty just shake his head when Prince is playing. The amount of respect his peers had for him. R.I.P to both greats.
I saw Prince live twice, the '88 show he moved to every position in the band. When he got to the keyboards he tore it up and simply said "that was nothing I just wanted show you I can play this" .
I saw him twice too. Mind blowing 🤯He was like nobody else. 💜💜💜
I was shocked Prince can play guitar like that, his showmanship is incredible. I’m so amazed.
Prince is a music God. The Divine gave him everything he asked for.
Jeff Lynne was the 2nd singer. He was the lead singer for ELO (Electric Light Orchestra). The young guy next to Petty is George Harrison’s son, Dhani.
Just to add context, if you've ever seen Guardians of the Galaxy 2, you've heard Jeff Lynne. Electric Light Orchestra's song "Mr. Blue Sky" is played through the entire opening credits
video: ruclips.net/video/OjrS6oJu1c4/видео.html
People have difficulty describing Prince. Some say great singer, great songwriter, great actor or musician. He was all that and more. He was the Greatest Entertainer of my 55 years.
I use entertainer
Vague enough to still make sense lol
Love you seeing giving prince love. People sleep on his chops as a guitar player cos he is such a good singer and showman. But his superbowl purple rain and this show just how amazing he is
Best super bowl show ever
Won’t be another prince that’s for sure. RIP Prince and Tom Petty 🙏
Prince was such an amazing performer. He loved it so much that often even after long concerts people knew they could expect him to make a random appearance at a local jazz club or some small pub to continue entertaining people. He was a musical genius, so gifted and talented.
It's a tribute to George Harrison of The Beatles. His son is playing acoustic guitar. They asked Prince if he would perform with them. He said yes but he never practiced with them as he was inducted into the rock and roll Hall of Fame that year too
For the casual viewer maybe just bumping into this, this song for a start was written by The Beatles’ GEORGE HARRISON.
The whole reason for this performance is that GH was being posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as a solo artist/songwriter/musician (this is 2004), he’d already been inducted years earlier as a member of The Beatles.
The bearded singer is ELO’s Jeff Lynne.
The young guitarist behind and slightly to the left of Tom Petty is DHANI HARRISON (George’s boy and the spitting image of him) 😊
Prince guys,is another level❤❤❤out of this world,,,Obra maestra
One of the best for sure💯💯
In my opinion, the greatest live guitar solo ever. Every time I see, my jaw drops. Legendary.
The biggest difference between MJ and Prince is Prince did everything and MJ needed Quincy Jones. My.first concert was Prince and he played everything on stage. Minnesota is pretty small so I’m friends with so many people who knew him
@@leodejongful did you ever see a MJ guitar solo? Not
@@leodejongful You know the funny thing is i keep saying this, i loved MJ when i was younger but every show he did was exactly the same and i mean exactly and that's why when he got older him doing the same dance moves just looked silly, Prince adapted all the time and kept everything fresh, new and interesting!!
MJ was nowhere near the level of Prince as a musician. Plus he did the same thing over and over. MJ was a pop singer/ dancer
@@jerbearschannel2208 thank you. I always say this. MJ was a great performer and singer. Prince was everything else and more. Prince did it all. The only similarities I see between MJ and Prince is that they peaked in the 80s and were both black. Apart from that, they were chalk and cheese.
That dude that was just singing is Jeff Lynne from ELO, sold hundreds of millions of records!
This is a tribute to George Harrison from the Beatles! The person playing acoustic guitar to the right of Tom Petty is Dhani Harrison, George's son. He looks just like him.
Thanks for the info CQ
@The Br3ak Room Anytime, thanks for the fun reactions! I was giggling in the beginning when you guys were commenting that Prince doesn't need to take the front, that's how to do it!
We were all thinking..... just wait!! 😁
God gave people many talents and they get distracted and the talents are wasted
Prince was given all the talents and he has over 8000 unreleased songs in his vault
If you like piano react to Condition of the heart 💜
The smile on Dhani Harrisons face when Prince starts shedding is so awesome
Yeah, you can tell they all appreciate each other
So underrated as a guitarist. He's fantastic at everything. Even heels. WAIT HOLD UP... Bruno?!?! Oh, son.
bruno who Mars the overated?
I saw Bruno Mars doing a tribute to Prince after his death. I believe it was let’s go crazy, he played guitar while doing vocals. Unfortunately his guitar work was anything other than very average to below average..
OMG!!!..I Can't Believe Ya'll Are Reacting To Prince With Tom Petty And Others. This Was Sooooo Amazing. They Were All Good..But Prince Was GREAT!.
This Was A Great Great Reaction BR3AK😯ROOOOOOM!!!👍🏿💯👍🏿
Prince played like 31 instruments wrote played all the instruments and produced everything. He only had a band to travel and the record company made him. Plus he wrote so many hits for others under a pen name. Jamie Starr
What do you mean “The record company made him”?
@@tyroncline5978 He wanted to do it all himself
Meaning he couldn’t do everything he wanted
His first 3 albums he wrote, played all the instruments, sang vocals and the different backgrounds, mixed and recorded all by himself. That's a bad bad man💜💜
@@wandamanning9198 I know right . That man was incredible
Prince played 20 plus instruments masterfully.
Here is the story behind this performance. A couple of months before this billboard came out with the top 100 guitarists of all time. And Prince was not on the list. He then volunteered to do this song with 4 guitarists from the top 100 list. He was only to do a 16 bar solo but he was pissed & did the rest of the song as a FU to billboard.
True story 💜
Well, Prince WAS invited to perform on the song with the others and during practice, Marc Mann, the lead guitarist of Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra and a guitar instructor nowadays, was hogging all the guitar solo time. Prince was assured that they would give him the closing solo and they were having some sound issues anyway, so Prince went off to practice on his own. What he came back with was all done by him in probably a day's time and is now considered one of the best guitar solos of all time.
Jeff Lynne Singing. ,Totally Agree!!Prince Shows Off For Dahni Harrison !! So Cool !! RIP ✨🙏✨TOM PETTY , ✨🙏✨ PRINCE✨🙏. ✨🙏 George Harrison of The Beatles ✨🙏✨💯👌PRINCE IS TRULY MISSED , HIS PRESENCE WAS INFECTIOUS ,BE(YOU)TIFUL💯👌💖✨🙏✨Can You Hear The 🎸 Weep ? SMOOTH👌
A lot of legends on the stage.. and one superstar
The ultimate musical Genius, ModernDay Mozart........Prince
Hi guys. 2004 PRINCE was inducted that night also. Of course did his own set and as always AWESOME. PRINCE gave songs for to my list as of now 76 other artists from Kenny Rogers,Joe Cochran, Celine Dion, Tom Jones, Bangles,Gwen S.,Paula A,Ms.Patty and on&on. Almost all his wonen.JS. P. used 5 different pseudonyms. Only P. has "The PRINCE Genre". G.O.A.T ! Ask ELTON. 💯💜🎶🌹✌️
Prince created the genre of "Minneapolis sound."
He was left off the list of the greatest guitarists, which is why Tom asked him to join the tribute.
I understand that people below the age of 35 believe that Bruno Mars is the equivalent of Prince back in the day. In a world where there are very few talented people I’m sure Bruno is considered something special. But please, Prince not only knew how to play every instrument, but played them to a professional standard whereby he would direct amazing musicians on how to play their instrument to a higher level. Prince had the ability to virtually walk into any band and play any instrument if he wanted to, that was how much talent he had. He possessed the respect, envy and attention of every artist during his life time...
Im 43, prince is a legend.. if we were to pick someone of this generation that is comparable to him in any way.. it would be bruno… not saying he is better or more talented than prince… just saying he is the only one of this generation that comes close to the things that prince did
Lol Bruno Mars. Please
Everybody who knows, knows Prince is the SHIT! The G.O.A.T., the whatever you want.
Prince didn’t redo this it was tribute at the hall of fame.
I love prince. I love MJ. The two should never be compared. There's room to absolutely love both.
Super good discussion guys, I loved the reaction, but the back and forth between you two is what makes this video gold. I love the different views and opinions mixed in with different generation mindsets. Keep up the good work. I would love if you could react to Prince's Super Bowl Halftime show, it has the same majestic raw talent aura as this performance. Thanks again guys
FYI the Prince smile and head nod was to let all playing he was not off on a tangent and was bringing it back around. Which he did.
Great reaction. You have to do the full Prince Super Bowl halftime show. You will love it!💜☔️
Steve Winwood is a major talent, too. He had an album titled Arc Of A Diver in which he did it all, write the songs, played every instrument, sang every song, and produced the entire album in his studio.
Yeah, people have told us about him.. looks like a solid lineup on that stage 💯💯💯
I was star struck when I first saw this a while ago also. I like how they thought Prince was going to remain in the background, then SURPRISE. Because he really could have, or not and we would still love Prince. But he had other plans what a G. RIP. Prince has many timeless recorded, and live solos. He should always be given his professional guitarist credit.
In an interview Eric Clapton was asked what is was like to be the greatest guitarist ever. Eric said...I don't know, you'll have to ask Prince
Prince walks in his Blackness off the stage.
I just wanted to make a point here as a musician. The Princes and Dimashes of the world are exceptionally rare. If you only shine a light on the best of the best, you're gonna miss a lot of incredible creativity and artistry. A singer with a small range can still make you cry. Nobody will ever be as good as our GOATs but if we don't also examine other artists, our lives won't be as full and rich as they could be. 🤗💕
Anjalena where have you been😊. We agree, everyone on that stage was awesome, but Prince is the man “ to us”. We enjoy checking out all of the unknown artists from around the world, so much talent. When we say unknown, we are saying unknown to us.
Prince #GOAT OF ALL GOATS.
The Rolling Stones 100 greatest guitarist came out earlier in the day and they didn't put Prince on the list...he was pissed that's why he did his solo part the way that he did... Prince is a GOAT❤
Bruno can’t make that grown folk music like Prince. Prince is more artistic than Bruno
Mannnn you tripping fam🤣🤣
I've been a Prince fam since '85 love just about everything he's done, and I have to agree with you Bruno Mars deserves a place on the mountaintop. I'm just thinking pops hasn't really sat down and listened to Bruno Mars's work 🎼❤️
Rolling Stone put a list out of best guitarist and Prince wasn't on the list and he was rightfully pissed off about. This is a tribute to George Harrison Prince was being honored as well. He asked to be part of it. In rehearsals that was not how he performed it. Every one was surprised by it. In an interview Tom Petty was asked how he felt about it. He's Prince how could anyone be mad at that🤣🤣 It is obvious how great of a guitarist he is was a fantastic performance but it was anything but humble 🤣 He basically did a mic drop at the end and walked off. Totally stole the show and I love it.
Actually Prince was asked to perform with them by the Producer of the segment. If you know anything about Prince he would NEVER ask to join in. At rehearsal he didn't get a chance to play because the other guy kept playing the solos and Prince left and told the Producer he would do the last solo and not to worry. The rest is R&R Hall of Fame history.
Fun fact, Jeff Lynne(ELO) and Tom Petty we in the great mega band with Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Steve Winwood and George Harrison called The Traveling Wilburys. Was rock version of the country legends of Cash, Waylon, Willie and Kris The Highwaymen
Everyone talks about George Harrison being inducted into the Hall of Fame that night, but I think Prince was also being inducted that night
Bruno has the right value system and he's a Bad Boy but Prince is on another level. Blessed to have grown up with him and MJ, I'll take those 2 plus Stevie and you can pick your next 5 lol.
The young lad on guitar is Dhani Harrison, georges son.
Prince have written many songs for other artists plus he has a vault of music that he has never shared with others that was discovered when he died!
Bruno writes for ton of people also.
Eric Clapton was once asked what it was like to be the greatest guitarist of all time. He said, I don't know you would have to go ask Prince that.
No 1 solo to me! ❤❤❤
We have a reaction to lynrd skynrd on the patreon.. dude kills this performance. If you dont want to see the reaction just go watch the original vid.. lynrd skynrd "freebird" 13:59 minutes long.. dude with the red👍🏼👍🏼
@@TheBr3akRoom I know that solo well! Lynyrd Skynyrd is my husband's favorite. 🔥
Dude with the red shirt absolutely went apeshyt for about 8 mins
10:40 This is we love you guys. You RESPEXT AND LOVE what you are watching . so you dont talk OVER the stuff. I was oddly turned into a Prince fan and a Doors fan when I was 15 back in 1992. EIP to Prince.
Yeah we try to pause so that we dont miss anything.. some people hate it, some like it.. we glad you like it fam.. hope all is well
John Lennon?? No, this is George Harrison's, and Clapton played lead on original.
Fun to watch y'all react to Prince!!
Appreciate you fam
I'm fortunate to see Prince perform live and Bruno is no Prince (sorry).
This was a George Harrison tribute with his son Dhani on guitar... and it was Dhani who nodded for Prince to come center stage. However, the real story was some of the other musicians did not want Prince to rehearse with them until Tom Petty intervened. Prince supposedly told Tom to give him time at the end and DID NOT rehearse with them. Notice the connection between those three dudes and nobody else on stage. Also, Prince was putting up his middle finger at Billboard who ranked him too low.
Bro that smile that dude gave at 3:10 when Tom sings "I don't know why" is that note hitting home for him lol 😆😆😂 there's no faking that
that's Jeff Lynne, but you right about no fakin' that
@@johnkendall6558 you at correct it is Jeff my bad they were trading in and out n I confused them
Theres a saying we use in the martial arts world, it goes, "There are blackbelts.....and then there are Blackbelt that tap out other blackbelts." That is Prince personified. Blackbelts are already masters of their craft, best of the best. So to be a blackbelt, and tap out/beat other blackbelts, puts you in an entirely different category. He truly is built differently
I agree about Bruno!
Watch Dani Harrison's Face he's smiling at Prince. RIP GEORGE HARRISON 🙏TOM PETTY My Heartbreaker 🙏 And of course PRINCE✨🙏✨. I also Like Bruno alot and I am a 68 yr. Ole White Woman
Traveling Wilburys we’re Jeff Lynn(man in the hat), Tom Petty, George Harrison,( his son Dhani next to Tom, Roy Orbison and Bob Dillon
Glad you guys enjoyed it
Yessir
I only wish Tom Petty and Prince lived long enough to collaborate. Rewatch they had a moment on stage and it was magical. Short time later in similar fashion they both pass. Imagine Jeff Lynn, Bruce Hornsby, Tom Petty and Prince. Not a super group that is an Atomic Group every top of their game people would want to be a part of. All having to a third of the normal load and showing off when they wanted too.
Great to see you guys reacting to my purple guy. If you haven't already, you need to watch his live version of "Live 4 Love". Miss you guys. Hope you're all doing well. 💜😎
OG can't get a Word in!!!
You must be new
Prince was literally built for this shit; he couldn't have done anything else
That dude is the great Jeff Lynne from ELO
I'm so glad I got on board with how talented Prince was before I saw this...I would have seriously felt like a dick otherwise...
"Who is that dude singing"? That is the incredible Jeff Lynn of ELO ! Yes, NEVER judge a book by its cover!! If you haven't heard of ELO ( Electric Light Orchestra)..do yourself a favor, have a listen.
He played 18 instruments just like Roger Troutman of the RB group ZAPP.
Bruno isn't & will never be on Prince level....Prince is the G.O.A.T. 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
He is a legend for sure.. but you smoking if you dont see the similarities
@@TheBr3akRoom
That's because Bruno is a Prince Fan....just like D'Angelo
@@TheBr3akRoom do me a favor...view Shhh Prince Detroit 2004
@@TheBr3akRoomjust because Bruno tries to imitate Prince does not mean there is a legitimate comparison to be made. We don’t compare every basketball player emulating Michael Jordan to him.
Bruno is the Jester to Prince. Not even close...not even close.
Talent wise its closer than you think, wether or not you like his music is a different story
This is actually a George Harrison (R.I.P.) song. His son, Dhani, is the young kid behind Tom Petty
Thanks for watching and commenting
This was George Harrison’s song being performed when he was posthumously inducted as a solo artist into the rock and roll hall of fame (same year Prince was inducted). The Beatles did record this song, but George wrote it, not John.
@7:00 now get ready for Prince to blow your mind.
🤣🤣🤣 Prince got this dude mad at the Lord for not giving him Prince's talent🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 My dude, THAT'S what a TRUE ARTIST is SUPPOSED TO DO!!! And YOU TOTALLY GET IT!!!
Prince is a legend
Prince is the greatest singer, musician, producer, arranger, composer, and writer to ever live. Michael Jackson is the greatest entertainer to ever live. And Bruno Mars is good but Bruno Mars can't play 20 something instruments, produce arrange, compose and write as many hits as Prince did.
The singer that hits those high notes is Jeff Lynne
Everybody else on the stage is legends, too. Yea, Prince is awesome for a reason. Dhani loved it, but without each one of them coming together and respecting each others talent, it made history.
They all are great, yes indeed 💯
This is a tribute to George Harrison who sang and wrote the song! And how can you stop the music especially, Prince’s solo!! Dudes! What???
Stopping the vids is what we do.. we have something to say, we stop… plus it helps with the copyright.. although this still got copyrighted 😊
They second was Jeff Lynn from ELO
I WANT BE BACK BY
English?
The easiest thing for Dhjani, George's son to have done was to ask Eric Clapton to play the tribute for his father George Harrison, he was there in the audience, but then Jeff Lynne's guy wouldn't have gotten his few seconds to shine trying hard to replicate what Clapton did on the original recording, an NO ONE would be talking about this performance, it would have been put in the dust bin with all of the other Rock Hall Tributes, but Dhjani wanted his musician to do it, Prince because he KNEW Prince would be Prince and do something ICONIC so no one would forget this performance and Prince did just that and shut up a lot of people in the process who had NO IDEA how brilliant a guitar player he is. You watch this and you see the only person Prince was concerned with on that stage was Tom Petty, that was who he was physically playing to, he respected Tom and Tom, encouraged him, with just looks, when Prince was gonna stop playing Tom looked at him like you started this, now finish it you didn't stay for the rehearsal. LOL This will be talked about and studied FOREVER because Prince was Prince and on that stage..

I really enjoyed your discussion during the pauses.
Since yall have a love for His Purple Badness, i urge you to check out his live performance of America from '85/86.
Easily top 5 guitar solos of all time, if not higher.
Mannnnnnnnnnnn after this video, someone recommended a video from the patreon. Lynrd skynrd during some festival.. this dude with the red shirt went absolutely nuts with the guitar for about 10 minutes.. its on the patreon, one of the best vids we have seen💯💯💯
Fuckin' Jeff Lynne!... ELO!
The story behind this was ,the Rollig Stone Magazine droped the list of the 100 best guitar players, and he was not under it. So he thought was the right time to show them "what time it is "!!! A nice purple day and much love from germany 0(+>
I subscribed after watching this because you guys are REAL. Thank you for the good time💜
Here's the difference, Bruno couldn't go in the studio completely by himself and come out with a complete album without help from anyone!!!
Bruno writes for other people, plays the guitar, piano, drums.. and can perform the song… prince can play a few more instruments than him.. thats all.. prince is one of my all time favorites by the way💯
Don’t stop in the middle of the solo damn!!!!
Can't believe these guys don't know Jeff Lynne and all he has done in music
You guys heard Joe Bonamassa? Fantastic blues rock guitarists that flies under a lot of people's radars. Check out ballad of John Henry live to see what he is about
I second and third this. Check out the one where he had the guitar duel, great set 👍
Prince hated people thing that he ever was a show off. That was for George & the person standing next to him.
Eric Clapton was who they wanted for that solo but he literally said "no, prince is better than me".
Clapton played on the record, so he’s ok 😀
The kid standing next to Tom Petty is George Harrison's son. The other guy signing is Jeff Lynne. He's a singer songwriter and helped
co- produce song for John Lennon George Harrison and many other people. That's all I got. Haha have a good one.
The star of this entire video is George Harrison.
Nah boss
@TheBr3akRoom The song wouldn't exist without George.
It’s not competition. They are all great. Don’t do that.
RIP George Harrison
RIP Billy Preston
RIP Prince
RIP Tom Petty
Even Bruno Mars wouldn't compare himself to Prince. However, IMHO Bruno does have IT!!!
They are similar in talents.. prince a lil
More.: but both can do a lot of things
Never doubt the greatness of steve Winwood! He could of shredded it up note for note with prince on the guitar! He was supposed to go last and prove his point, the rolling stones magazine just put out thier top 100 guitarist list and left prince off it. Prince basically gave rolling stones magazine and that writer the middle finger it was epic. But Steve chose to keep the solo he played to the original that Clapton recorded out of respect. So lets not disrespect Steve as if he couldn't do that. Great reaction to a great song guys!
Appreciate you watching fam, we have a vid to lynrd skynrd at some festival.. its on the patreon.. the dude playing the guitar went absolutely nuts, one of our favorite videos. Think the song was freebird.. simply amazing
@TheBr3akRoom ohh yes lynard skynyrd my all time favorite band! Give me back my bullets, Ballard of Curtis Low, simple man, I need you etc you have a great rabbit hole to go down my friends!
It's not a John Lennon song it's a George Harrison song. His son is on the stage behind Prince. He's just amazing that he could play 47 instruments , and I mean game of basketball, And the big question that people ask is where the hell did the guitar go in the end?
Prince is great. But Jeff Lynne, who you didn't know is on his level or even greater 🤙
💯💯
